so sorry to hear about toe lennied hope not too painful!!!

rrray lee evans is gr8 sounds like u had a gr8 time

fourfeet sounds like you have been busy

elkiedee · 06/10/2008 12:53

Afternoon all, welcome to elza, panacea and any other newbies I've missed.

I'm feeling a little reassured to have reached 24 weeks today, only 16 weeks to go! And just 11 full weeks at work, in which time I'll have a few appointments, antenatal classes, and a few days annual leave (which I need to use to get ds1's bedroom cleared out so he can move in there before his little brother turns up.

I'm wearing a mix of maternity and loose fitting non maternity - I really don't like fabric that clings to my skin which is a problem in maternity tops. And all my bras seem to be equally uncomfortable. I have bought a new maternity skirt and got two others sent down to me from my mum's (I thought they were in the house or would have got them back earlier).

MsSparkle · 06/10/2008 14:12

LenniEd sorry to hear about your toe

This thread has been quiet last few days!

Took dd for her 2yr check today. Everything is fine with her We have nearly finished her new room so she will be going into the big bed soon I am dreading it. DD is going through a stage of running off so i have to try and run after her! Quite a challenge.

moosemama · 06/10/2008 18:13

Congratulations on finding out your are expecting a girl Tink!

LenniEd, you poor thing - broken toes are awful and they are so much more painful than people think they are.

Chaos is the only way to describe our house after this weekend! The boys room is the only tidy space! We have just about finished emptying the study, but now have boxes and bags for charity, the tip and the recycling centre in just about every other available space in the house along with a load of officey type stuff that we need to keep but now doesn't have a home.

Ashamed to say it all got on top of me this morning as we worked so hard at the weekend that I'm totally exhausted with an achey bump and sore hips and pelvis. Ended up bursting into tears about all the mess, swearing blind that it'll never be finished in time and telling DH off for abandoning me in the middle of all the chaos (he was only going to work, poor bloke). He came back at lunchtime and said he has booked tomorrow off to try and get some semblance of normality back into the house - nice gesture but think he needs more like a fortnight off if we are going to get anywhere!

Keep changing my mind on how to decorate the baby's room, really need to make up my mind or it'll end up being me that's holding things up.

Our lovely mini indian summer has well and truly gone, it's absolutely freezing here today, am wrapped up in huge jumper and needed my new winter coat on to do the school run. I quite like it really though, I love it when it's all cold outside and the family is all cosied up inside together!

HeathersMummy · 06/10/2008 21:18

Evening all
Tink - congrats on your baby girl news
LenniEd, sorry about your big toe - do you have a stookie (cast) on?
rrray - glad you enjoyed Lee Evans, he's hilarious! Last pregnancy I went to see Billy Connolly - I was 10 days off my due date. I was sure he would put me into labour with all the laughing, but no - probably a good job right enough .
No indian summer here - it was frosty this morning!
Feeling quite pleased with ourselves here, we've finished painting and decorating the baby's room. Just the IKEA furniture to assemble now!

fourlittlefeet · 06/10/2008 21:45

the nursery is our old bedroom and is not being decorated, feel they have already got enough by having a huge room! Been painting the sitting room a colour similar to the headers in the mumsnet posts. Not sure about it now as it looks a bit cold . I'm sure I'll love it when I haven't been staring at it for 15 hours straight.

Am smiling at the thought of Lenni with a cast on toe. Can't imagine its very comfortable or practical.. don't they just 'stick' it to another toe?

chefswife · 06/10/2008 23:47

although my flightss to london made my day 20 hurs of travel without being able to sleep, it was ok. however, once i got to the gallery to set up my work, the piece that i carried on the flights was damaged. i know exactly when it happened as well... 5am, the work got stuck in the x-ray machine and the guy just shoved it through. i said, very loudly, 'take it easy please. what part of the 'fragile' sticker don't you get?' then i got to the uk border, (i was traveling with my canadian passport because my eu one expired) and they almost didn't let me in. i think they thought i was coming to work. waited for an hour then someone else came to ask me questions which right away i told them that i am a british citizen. he told me to bring my eu passport next time even it is expired. (he searched the system and found me. that's why they let me in). must have looked funny really, white, pregnant canadian girl not getting through... what hope do the other people have that i was sitting with. well, tomorrow i have to do some repair work... i just wanted to shop for baby but now the money is mostly spent. oh well. life goes on.

my friend i'm staying with is being such a dear as is his mother and cousin. lovely lovely people and i am grateful to be around them.

one day in london though i have been caught up in the rush... found myself running for the bus. for god's sake, the buses run every few minutes! what was i thinking. got an awful stitch.

at least after tomorrow, the weather is suppose to be nice. cross fingers.

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 07/10/2008 08:49

morning

heathersmummy - ye for finishing nursery very exciting

flf- that blue colour is nice

chefswife - glad you got 2 london ok even if abit stressful

well raining here we are off to swimming lesson @ 11am mums @ 2pm then @ 5:30pm we are looking around a school

rrrayray · 07/10/2008 10:07

tink - Sounds like your having a busy day!!

I got up to pee FOUR times last night, and i wear 2 of them were about 10 mins apart. not to mention the wee is smelling EVEN stronger!!

Off to Bluewater this afternoon with 2 girlfriends of mine... maybe pick up a few xmas prezies, and of course buy some pink things for Beanie!

chefswife · 07/10/2008 12:15

my urine smells like wheat. and my armpits are just as bad. i can't stand the smell of me. no amount of showering gets it off. and no amount of water consumption lessens the smell. what the heck? if i can't stand being around me, no one else sure can.

stripeywoollenhat · 07/10/2008 12:24

hello all!
well, it's pouring with rain here and i am just back from the doctor where i had some bloods taken - doc is checking for reasons for my occasional faintness. i think it's related to the motion sickness i seem to have developed, but she hasn't come across this before. so i have to go and have an ecg done which is going to take all afternoon no doubt - i am half tempted to leave it until tomorrow morning.... titch is kicking about so whatever's up with me is clearly not bothering her...

chefswife - rubbish about your work, what a pain. hope you can sort it out. rray, the getting up in the night is a right pain - though i've been having trouble sleeping for the last couple of days so at least it's not actually waking me up. not sure it's working that well for dp, mind.

still haven't made many inroads into shopping for titch - though dp bought her a cute little capricorn body suit yesterday. we have both agreed that this is bound to mean she will be a week late, and an aquarius....

moosemama · 07/10/2008 20:47

Pleased to report made good progress with DH home today. Finally have a house that resembles a home rather than a second hand shop!

It won't last though, having boiler replaced and resited first week in November and getting quotes for new windows and doors this week as we need that done before bubs arrives as well! Just thinking about the plaster dust and mess gives me shivers and when all that's done we'll get on with the painting, don't think there'd be much point before.

At least we have some semblance of normality for a while though. Am exhausted but a lot calmer.

Stripey, hope they get to the bottom of the faintness, I had dreadful motion sickness in the first trimester but has since cleared up - you have my sympathy, its horrible.

chefswife · 08/10/2008 00:10

stripey i have had a couple of days where i experience only what i can call motion sickness too. it's dreadful. don't want to eat or get up. i wonder if it is all the movement baby does or something.

rrrayray · 08/10/2008 00:20

Evening ladies. i don't know HOW i am up so late... i havent seen this hour for a LONG time!

Went to bluewater today, and am blushing as when i unpacked my shopping realised i had bought Beanie no less than FOUR pairs of shoes! Considering i had already one pair of ballet shoes i rounded up with my food shopping last week, that makes five for a baby that isnt due for over two months. Ridiculious

Also got a little cord skirt, some little jeans and a little hat. V. Cute.....

But can't get over the shoes. how did i not realise?!?!

Off to bed. fingers crossed for a good nights sleep.

xx

MsSparkle · 08/10/2008 10:17

rrrayray, a girl can never have enough shoes! My urine seems to not smell anymore! I am glad people have said about it on this thread because it means i don't have to ask the midwife if it's normal and be embarressed!

I haven't been too happy the last few days because i have got piles! I think it has to be one of the worst downers on pregnancy. I am so uncomfortable!

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 08/10/2008 11:14

morning

have just done food/baby clothes shopping in tesco
have been dieing to get the relevant colour for so long may have gone abit mad, have some lovely stuff in there and really good value 2

pink and white short sleeved poppy vests
pink and white sleepsuits with feet
white and pink really soft fleecy jumper with hood and cat on
purple and white stripy fleecy jumper with hood
pack of socks
deep purple sleeveless courdroy dress with flowers
red sleeveless courdroy dress with flowers
3 tops in sale a £1 each

wont buy anything now for a while may look in asda sat prob not a good idea as will c something else i want.
will prob leave and get everything in tesco
have seen red courdroy trousers and pink ones that look sweet.

stripey - hope you get an answer from tests

rray - you have done well 2 - i bought dd loads of shoes when i was pregnant with her 2 got them in 0-3 months were all too big she still has such tiny feet. tiny shoes are adorable.
bean has 2 pairs already

ms sparkle - poor u

stripeywoollenhat · 08/10/2008 11:28

well, it seems like there's nothing wrong with my heart, anyway - always a good start, eh? will hear about bloods later today, but sure there's nothing wrong there either, and it's just a pregnancy thing that my gp doesn't believe in... (she is a very nice gp, though). i am feeling reassured that you've had motion sickness too, chefswife and moosemama, although obviously i wouldn't wish it on you, iykwim - it's absolutely horrible, particularly when it ends with me trying to get my head between my legs with an effing great bump in the way...

mssparkle, i had a pile a couple of weeks ago so you have my deepest sympathies... i think buying something to sort it out at the chemists is among the more embarrassing experiences i've had so far - the woman basically held it up so that everybody else in the queue could see that i was having a problem with my bum....

rrrayray · 08/10/2008 11:48

Morning ladies!

Ah, i see i'm not alone in the pink shopping Tink! Although i have to say, most of the things i've bought at 0-3 months, as there seems to be a lack of newborn things. i have a few newborn baby grows, but thats all they seem to do? I mean i know we'll be adapting to life first timers and all, so she will spend ALOT of time in baby grows around the house and such, but i wouldnt mind a few little outfits to take her places in!!!

Any suggestions of Places that do nice little girl newborn outfits? Dresses perhaps?

Glad most people seem to be looking up from their niggles. My Spots seem to be returning on my back now that i'm off my antibotics. As i thought, but oh well, lets just hope they clear once bubba arrives.

My wee STILL smells.... But the constipation doesn't seem to be nearly as bad. Sorry for those of you who have piles & motion sickness!

Today is beautifully sunny here, and not as nippy as it has been!

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 08/10/2008 12:51

hi rray -

tesco and asda and next do cute dresses the ones i bought were only £6 will put a short sleeved vest underneath and along sleeved tops.
dd went straight into outfits when born they look so cute when born in dresses etc.

elkiedee · 08/10/2008 13:10

DS1 wore mostly babygros for his first 6 months, although I got a few more clothing items in 3-6 months. But he was a May baby and although not a great summer there were hot days when he could have done with cooler clothes.

However, this baby is going to be born in the middle of winter. I think I'll be putting him in his most fun babygros (we have quite a lot from ds1) for the first few months. He will also have some lovely other clothes which have hardly been worn as they were misplaced or were given to us quite late on or were really for the wrong season and ds1 grew out of things quite fast.

Those of you having dds, I expect summer styles and cute dresses will be hitting the shops as you're ready to venture out - if you really can't resist, I'd think about buying 3-6 months or even bigger - I think dresses would be better in the summer. Also, they need clothes to play and crawl and eat in. I was astonished by the range of people who gave us clothes for ds and wouldn't have needed to buy much before 6-9 months (size not age) anyway.

largeginandbloodymary · 08/10/2008 13:13

Am useless at keeping up, apologies ladies.

I se Tink is having a PINK one! Fab news. Do you know Tink i am accross the water in Gosport? We could meet in Portsmouth sometime if you fancy it, i promise not to bring all the children!

I am huge, i mean ridiculously huge. I resemble a mammoth. I feel incredibly pregnant and am having loads of braxton hicks already. My SPD is coming back too

I have blown the birthing ball up and am bouncing at will

Am 26+3 today! I mean fgs it will be wanting to come out soon...

rrrayray · 08/10/2008 13:13
