Annoyingly at most of my local stores (including next, dorothy perkins and JL) they have stopped stocking maternity clothes in store and you have to do it online. The only place that did still stock was gap & H&M (but not in my size) and topshop - which is fine for casual stuff but not formal or work stuff. Ho hum!!

I'm just really reluctant to buy online. Stuff is never the size they say it is and things look different and just generally I like to browse in a real shop. Sadly the choice to do so seems to be rapidly disappearing.

babyinbelly · 28/10/2008 10:43

The only shops that do mat wear near me is dp and debanhams. All of debanhams is hideous tho and doesn't fit properly.

I've been having awful shooting pains in my belly all night. Couldn't lay on my side or move as the pain was unbearable. Still hurting this morning but not as bad. Anyone got ideas on what it is. Not sure if it is just growing pains?

Boobz · 28/10/2008 11:52

Sorry baby - don't know about the pains. Hope they go away though!

Haven't been maternity shopping yet, even though I promised myself I would go and get some blimmin trousers that fit on Friday as this was pay day. Of course we are now 4 days after pay day and all of my salary has been spent on mortgage and food shopping, car tax and birthday presents, so I now have to wait until DH is paid on Friday. Bet I still don't manage to buy anything this month and end up having to wait until Nov 24th! Will be really straining by then. Lucky I work from home and can sit around in my DH's shorts and baggy jumpers all day. I do have a work dinner in a month or so which I will need to buy something for. Ugh.

Hello Ladies! Had my (late) 20 wk scan this morning and I'm having another pink one! Really pleased as I wanted a little sister for DD1, and thinking practically it's going to save me a fortune as I have 50 bags of pink clothes in the loft

Am I allowed the list?
My EDD is 27 March 2009. I don't know what sex the baby is and I'm 25.
Thanks

MKGisHavingaGirl · 28/10/2008 19:05

Hooray Aunty!!

I'm so glad everyone is having good scans.

Nothing new to report here. I just took a nap and it was great. DH put the boys in for a nap, left the house, and I closed my eyes and slept for an hour. It is so windy and rainy here today that it was the perfect day for this and just what I needed.

Slickbird · 28/10/2008 21:14

Congrats to Aunty and Livismum! Great to hear the good news! I'm amazed how many people are finding out what the sex is. I know I'm one of them, third time round, but with the other two we just waited for the surprise. I don't mean anything by it, I just didn't know anyone 'in real life' () while I was pregnant that actually found out, so it's just surprising to see how many folk actually do. All nice either way tho I think. I think this time, finding out half way through has been a nice little treat!

Babyinbelly It could be a few things depending on where the pain is? Last time I had debilitating pain with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which I've suffered with on and off for years, but usually aggrivated by stress. Last preg I was having a horrendous time at work and the IBS pain was enough to have me hospitalised twice! The pain (usually started late at night) lasted for 16 - 20 hours at a time, and it was doubled over agony type, nothing would shift it. It was all at the top of my bump though in the stomach where it was being pushed by the baby. That's how I knew it wasn't the baby but the doctors wanted to be on the safe side. (Best thing for it in the end was peppermint water, cutting down on wheat and taking fibogel). (And cutting out stress too!) (Oh, and when that all didn't do it, I was given this really gross stuff to take called MALOX and OMG, it tasted like suncream!! Yuch!) BUT it could also be:

Trapped wind! Another side effect of pregnancy that you may not usually get but can whilst you are and it can be very painful. There are things you can take and it's also worth getting a wheat bag or hot water bottle to cosy up to. That def helps.

If it doesn't sound like either of those then it could well just be some ligament stretching pains, which can throb and keep you awake at night when the baby is having a growth spurt.

This is all in my experience and not necessarily what is causing you grief! (I need to add a disclaimer before another MNetter comes on and says I am not qualified to give advice etc etc. This happened before on another thread, talking about banks. I didn't know anyone would even give a toss what I thought, but there you go. Live and learn! )

Anyway, just some ideas on what it could be. Hope you have a better night tonight.

Sorry for long post!!

Slickbird · 28/10/2008 21:20

OMG!! Just really saw how long my post was. I think I've used up my quota for days!!

babyinbelly · 28/10/2008 23:14

Thanks for that slickbird The pain was mainly on left hand side running from what used to be my waist to my groin. Today the pain isn't so painful, (but is still almost crippling) but seems to be more all over my belly. Feels the same as the shooting pain down my bum so think it might be ligaments? It also feels very tender to touch like a really bad bruise.

Was thinking of going to midwife tomorrow if no better. It might just be something like pulled muscles as I have been ill and constantly coughing for the last week.

Didn't have any pain like this last time round at all so don't know what to think!

babyinbelly · 28/10/2008 23:16

CS7 Haven't you been on this thread for ages?

CS7 · 29/10/2008 08:07

Hi babyinbelly, I joined this thread about 2-3 weeks ago... but i seem to keep missing the list! grr

Thanks twocutedarlings

emma2617 · 29/10/2008 10:06

Come on the boys...we are getting out numbered!!!

I had the best day yesterday...took a days holiday and did nothing!! I am still terminally snotty and sneezing my way through the day! And bambino has started booting me...because I sat and did nothing all day I noticed his kicks a lot more...and I actually felt one with my hand...so shouldnt be too long for DP now!

re Maternity clothes, I only have 1 pair of maternity jeans and am surviving with normal work trousers completely undone but held up by bump bands!!

Hope everyone is well!

babyinbelly · 29/10/2008 11:18

Next time anyone updates, just wanted to let you all know we are having a surprise. Really looking forward to it. Was reading somewhere that you can sex the baby yourself so instead of midwife saying congratulations its a boy/girl she just hands it to you and you have a quick peek yourself.

Congrats Emma on feeling the baby. I felt kick with my hand last week but DP still hasn't felt anything, despite having his hand on my belly when it moves. I think cos we can feel it on the inside as well it is more obvious for us then the men! Hopefully it wont be to long for them tho!

jollyjoanne · 29/10/2008 12:33

Baby not sure if you have already doen so, but the types of pains you are talking about sound like the sort of reason why we have midwives, even if they just say 'oh yeah thats normal'. I am a bit of a hypochondriac though, so may opinion may not be that great.

I have IBS and although it can cause me to have horrible somach pains where I can't stand to be touched - the only time I have had pains in my backside I had an abscess! And the doctors didn't understand why I had waited so long to see them (I didn't the thing just appeared overnight as far as I was concerned - but there goes).

babyinbelly · 29/10/2008 12:59

Thanks jollyjoanne Pain in belly seems to be less again today and I managed to get a good nights sleep last night. The first time I have been able to lay flat for 2 weeks as I have had a chest infection!

I had an infection in my bum (on the skin) during my last pregnancy. I left it about 3 weeks before I saw doctor after which I was admitted to hospital for a week and had to have all of the dead/infected skin cut away and grow some more. Couldn't sit down for a month!

I am sure now that it was growing pain as belly today is much harder and bigger. Was going to go to drop in clinic if no better today but all seems fine as long as I don't move too fast.

HopingCat · 29/10/2008 13:05

Now that some of you know what you are having, can any of you say that you had predicted right?

We've not found out, but I'm finding a few things are quite different in this pg (eg the bump is higher, the sickness went away faster) so I wondered whether this is any indication that I'm having a boy this time? Have any of you with a child already found they are feeling different?

HC

babyinbelly · 29/10/2008 13:08

I dont know what I am having but apparently more sickness means a girl. I am hoping for a girl and ms definately lasted longer this time then with DS. So you could be having a boy? Have you tried that ancient chinese thing that is on the pregnancy thread?

emma2617 · 29/10/2008 13:32

HC although I have no prior experience...due to being a first timer! I have had no sickness to speak of really...a few waves of feeling sick but nothing to write home about...and I am having a boy!

List updated for BIBs surprise!!
