Those belts are available from bump to 3(Grobag) I think they make it.

I came up with a girls name, that TBD actually liked, yesteday. Not sure if we're pushing a theme too much though

Name is Carla.

Reason I said it may be pushing a theme is that my first daughter is called Lily, Tink's second middle name is Lily and I got the idea from cala lilies. We chose Lily in the first place because my middle name was my grandmothers name, my mum's name is Susan and we didn't think we could fit it in very well as a middle name so used Lily instead.

MarkStretch · 12/09/2008 20:09

Laidback, that sounds like a good idea. I feel like few of mine are getting met at the moment.

Sorry for being down, it's just got on top of me today.

I'm going to do the ironing

laidbackinengland · 12/09/2008 20:16

Tink isn't Lily the hebrew for susan ?

MarkS step away from the ironing...It'll just make you feel more resentful .

TinkerBellesMum · 12/09/2008 20:53

Otherway around Lily is Shoshanna in Hebrew, that's why we choose it cause it fitted as a middle name easier.

nkweto · 12/09/2008 21:58

Love the name TinkersbelleMum...

just to let everyone on the fb group know, I am sending lots of friend invites..ignore if you don't want to fully 'out' yourself!

I really want my 20 week scan now too, after reading about everyone's elses... have to wait until 22nd September. I think I will be about 21/22 weeks by then

pluto · 12/09/2008 22:21

Feeling much better today after a really miserable evening of worrying about quad test results. I spoke to a fabulous midwife this morning who is the area screening co-ordinator and she helped us put the results in a clear perspective. She told me that for a 38 year old the cut off point for low or high risk of DS is 190 / 250. This was exactly my result from the quad test. There's a 0.5% chance of the baby having DS: the risk of a miscarriage after an amnio is 1%. I would be devasted to lose the baby - we could never consider a termination so with the odds more strongly stacked against the baby from the amnio procedure than from Downs it's been much easier to make the call not to have amnio. In the end the quad test never really served to reassure us or give us a clear direction to plan for a child with special needs but in spite of this I do feel reassured and believe everything will be OK. So, no amnio for us and looking forward to the 20 week scan on 7th October with a new found confidence. All you lucky people who've just reached that 20 week mark - I'm envious!

swampster · 12/09/2008 22:57

It's a bit of a process, isn't it pluto? I've been through much the same. The minute I decided/we'd agreed against diagnostic testing I felt so much better.

The odds are still so massively stacked in our favour, too.

I was reading some of the things others have been posting on your thread and have felt strangely reassured by it all.

Rachrox · 12/09/2008 22:57

Hi All,
Pluto Glad you're feeling better and have come to a happy decision.

Tinkerbellesmum I like that name it's quite cute.

Has anyone else chosen names yet? Me and dh can't decide, he really likes Seth but i'm not sure it is starting to grow on me tho, so we'll see!

I'm no longer on fb, so have deleted my profile, i think sometimes that site can do more wrong than good.

Who else is finding out what sex their baby is? I've got my 20 week scan on 30th, i expect i wont be able to resist on asking!!

rosieposey · 12/09/2008 23:49

Pluto thats lovely news - glad you feel happy and at peace with your descision and whatever happens it will work out and you will be glad im sure.

Tink thats a lovely girls name Did i miss when you said you were having a girl? Are you having a girl or are you just having some fun with names at the mo? I have had a boys name that i liked since i was about 7 weeks its just a question of seeing my lo and seeing if he fits it or not - but think that he may well look like a Milo otherwise i dont really have any backup names.

spottyshoes · 13/09/2008 09:22

I too missed the bit about you having a girl TBM but lovely name!

I'm pleased you have come to a decision you are happy with pluto. And we have our scans on the same day

MS - on your behalf, I think we have the same ishoos! I think its a good idea to do a weekly/monthly plan and may start doing one with DH. Trouble is I dont always want to go out when I get round to it as too tired etc just want the chance to go out occassionally! Agree completely with Laidback, I hope you didn't do the ironing

MarkStretch · 13/09/2008 09:30

I am still fuming and I did do the bloody ironing.

He got in at 3.30am and is still asleep. DD and I are going out- just don't know where yet. Am tempted to switch my phone off just to be petty.

OP posts:
mrsy · 13/09/2008 09:47

Hey all -

TBM, i love that name... a friend of mine is called Carla and it always seems really classic and elegant. it kind of reminds me of something from Gone With The Wind!

rosie - love Milo! And i'm with you on the seeing what they look like thing, we've almost pretty much decided and john keeps telling everyone, but i'd rather keep it under my hat in case she doesn't suit that name. john said a) all babies look alike, and b) i don't think people really 'look like' there names, so it doesn't matter...

GRRRR!

spottyshoes · 13/09/2008 09:50

Well be a good wifey and do the hoovering! LOUDLY. Whilst DD jumps on the bed!

PinkTulips · 13/09/2008 12:05

markstretch, if it helps you feel any better dp and i aren't talking right now and he spent last night on the couch.

i'm shattered, exhausted, sick of feeling like shit, going into a serious slump for the first time in years (lifelong depression) and finding dd such hard work there are days i could happily walk away from her on the street but am i allowed to point out that waking up at 6.30/7 and dealing with the kids til he decides he's ready to get up at 9/10 and then not getting any sleep after that as i've got him or them in asking me questions every 5 mins til i give up and get up is not at all the same as him having a proper lie in every sunday am i allowed to point out that saying 'poor dd, what's wrong?' when i've already told him she's having a tantrum and to ignore her is not supporting me as a parent am i allowed to point out that constantly having to be told in detail what i need him to do and having to be asked is not really being as helpful as he'd like to think no, apparently i'm a crazy nagging b*%$h who always has to be right

i like maya for a girl, we chose hebrew names for the other 2 but i can't find any more hebrew names that i love and i do adore the name maya. no idea on boys but then we never had boys names with dd and never had girls names with ds so maybe it's a sign it's a little girl!

TinkerBellesMum · 13/09/2008 12:09

pluto, I agree with you, the risk is higher with an amnio than for the baby to have Down's Syndrome. As they know you have half a percent chance of having it they should look out for it on the scan anyway.

No news on the sex yet, it's just the first name we both agreed on. I think it's a girl and Tink does too, at my last scan the radiographer said she thinks it's a girl because small children are normally right. I've been right so far (but is that because I've had two girls and just said girl each time?) I just feel easy when I think about it being a girl, but thinking about it being a boy makes me feel odd. I can't describe it because it's instinctive feelings rather than emotional feelings, IYSWIM.

Rosie, I've been joking about Milo or Fizz because we have Jake and Bella (well, Isobel) already!

mrsy when you look at your baby you will know if it's the right name and they do look differently. Until you start having babies in your life you don't always see it.

MS, I could have written that TBD is working long hours at the moment, leaving at 7:30 and often out for 12 hours. He's back at work today, every other weekend he is in London with his sons, and won't be home till late and wants to go out to his friends tonight. With the way Tink is sleeping I'm wrecked and I'm totally fed up of being here on my own with her. Mum took me back to hers last night so I could sleep a night so I think he thinks that gives him reason to go out tonight. Should mention he was out two nights this week - seeing friends and work leaving do - and had a work birthday party last week.

rosieposey · 13/09/2008 12:58

Ahh bloody men DP has p*ssed off skateboarding ALL DAY today ... cant complain massively because ive managed to limit him to one night after work and only one day on the weekends (and i did have him to myself the last couple) But sometimes they can be really rubbish! Grrrrr so im feeling for you ladies at the moment.

No one likes Milo much out of my family and friends you can just hear them thinking ... hmmm tweenies - but all of mine are well beyond tweenies stage so i have no association with it (yet) and they may not be around for too much longer fingers crossed. I think its a cute baby name, a hip teen and young mans name and a distinguished blokey name so im sticking with it (unless i come up with something better!

TinkerBellesMum · 13/09/2008 13:13

I wasn't saying about Tweenies to put you off, it's just something I've joked about. I like it, your family get to choose their own baby names, this is your baby!

rosieposey · 13/09/2008 13:27

Oh no i didnt mean that - i dont even know the name of the other tweenies tbh i was just saying that its one that people either like or hate and i think the tweenies might have ruined it a bit but ive liked it for a while so it doesnt matter but even some people who dont know about the tweenies dont like it either so like you said TBM its my baby and i say sod em! DP's parents were not happy when i said Milo as apparently there was a nasty cartoon character named Milo ohh please ... we can all make associations with names of people we dont like but some random cartoon character is taking it a bit far and anyway i cant think of another boys name that i really like? (as i thought i was having a girl!)

spottyshoes · 13/09/2008 13:37

I like it! It makes me think Liv Tyler rather than Tweenies - but I also dont have much association with them yet

TinkerBellesMum · 13/09/2008 13:42

The best reason for not using a name I've ever heard was when the two girls names a couple were thinking about were told to the fathers mother she said "You can't use those, he cheated on me with two girls of those names!" not sure if I would be more likely to use them or actually see it as a reason not to use it

rosieposey · 13/09/2008 13:48

Lol when my lot were little it was the tellytubbies - now they did have s**t names! I know what you mean about being more likely to use a name as father in law to be not only lectured me about the name but took DP to one side on Thursday and lectured him too! Its just made me even more determind because i hate being told what to do and the way i see it its his problem if he doesnt like it (ohh im pregnant and militant where inlaws are concerned at the moment.

Mirry71 · 13/09/2008 13:52

hello please can I join your thread?i am due end of Feb 2009, first baby and feel as ignorant about what's coming my way as the etiquette for the MN antenatal clubs

rosieposey · 13/09/2008 14:03

Hi Mirry - welcome and congratulations! Just find the last list with everyone on it (i think its a couple of pages ago or so) and copy and paste yourself into it. Dont worry there are a few first timers on here and we all help each other out with advice and stuff

Rachrox · 13/09/2008 14:10

Welcome Mirry71.

My ds keeps saying what names he likes for the baby and so far he's come up with Peppa Pig for a girl and George for a boy!!!

Hopefully he'll like whatever we choose in the end.

Today i've decided i quite like Holly for a girl, but as i've got weeks yet it'll probably change daily!!

TinkerBellesMum · 13/09/2008 14:45

Rach, this baby is going to be called FiFi!
