Where is everybody???

Tink - like Carla (and goes nicely with Isobel too). One of my best friends from school was called Carla and loved being called it...

TinkerBellesMum · 25/09/2008 12:18

THOM a glass or two as long as it's not all the time isn't going to hurt. I have an Italian friend who used to tell me when I was pregnant before (haven't been out with him lately) that I wasn't drinking enough!

There are tights that are missing the crotch and outside thigh, basically stockings and suspenders in one. I've been trying to find some online but I can't remember what they're called so not getting far! Did find an interesting tip in my searching, if you find that tights make you itchy wear a towel.

Looks like I may be in Monday's Mirror, which will be the pain paper rather than the weekly magazine that I was originally told.

Tink's not well, apparently she was rather laid back yesterday at the CM and would only drink (all she said all day was "juice") but she did drink a lot. Had problems getting her off last night, she and TBD ended up on the sofa again. Woke up this morning and was throwing up (hasn't eaten in over 24 hours) and rather hot. When we got back from the hospital Wednesday night she had turned red she was so hot. She's breathing from her tummy and is tucking between her ribs. Been to the GP, he said she does have a crackle but no wheeze, ears clear and wouldn't open her mouth but temp 38.6 so there is an infection but he couldn't find it. So we've got her on anti-b's and paracetamol. He wants me to up her inhalers but she won't let them near her face when she's not well. He's also told me to count her breaths every hour, last time was 37 which seems high to me

Questionkid · 25/09/2008 12:39

TBM - poor Tink, hope she feels better soon.

I had my scan this morning and am pleased to say all is well and we're having a boy. I can't believe how relieved I was to hear that there were no problems, I hadn't realised I had got myself so worried about it. So much so that I obviously had a huge adrenalin rush afterwards as I'm now sitting at my desk feeling like I'm on some sort of comedown!

Anyway, DP was definitely very happy it's a boy. He keeps saying he would've been just as happy with a girl, but I know he wanted a son.

And it now means that I can well and truly look forward to our little wedding, which is a week on Saturday. I'm so excited!!

swampster · 25/09/2008 12:51

I have maternity tights from TopShop. They are blue and they have a crotch. But they are pretty comfortable and go with my flowery maternity frock that I have so far worn (coupled with tall kinky boots!) to two weddings, one meeting and an office party.

swampster · 25/09/2008 12:54

Congrats on your scan Questionkid. Boys are really hellish lovely. I'm having boy no.3 - too much testosterone in my house!

Questionkid · 25/09/2008 13:15

I got some maternity tights in M&S last week, I have no idea what they're like as I haven't tried them on yet. So I suppose this is a bit of a pointless post. But I did also find that the M&S tights that have a reinforced body bit that literally comes right up to below your boobs were good for holding all the wobbly bits in and keeping the bump supported. To be honest, their maternity tights are probably exactly the same type but just in different packaging.

Swampster - I imagine your house is very NOISY.

america · 25/09/2008 13:18

Uhhh... I don't know how you ladies with children cope.

I've been home alone (DH travelling) since Sunday and I'm absolutely shattered. I wake up at 5.45 every morning when DS starts chatting. I prepare breakfast and get DS ready, walk the dog, clear some of the mess, prepare packed lunches, walk DS to the CM and go to work. Oh, and nobody gives me a seat in the train. Nine hours later the same otherway around.

I feel guilty for taking DS to the CM for so many hours every day and guilty for not spending enought time with him during the week. I feel guilty for leaving the work already at 5PM and get bitchy comments from my boss who's annoyed with me in any case for being pregnant. I also feel guilty for not walking the dog enough and for not really feeling like looking after her at all.

I'm also fed up with DH always assuming that I take care of everything and that he can conveniently "forget" to do stuff.

Sorry for the rant, just needed to get it off my chest.

swampster · 25/09/2008 13:19

Noisy AND a mucky swamp!

america · 25/09/2008 13:20

Oh, and I feel guilty for looking like crap. I don't feel sexy and cannot fit into any of my clothes. And I've had a bad-hair-day everyday all week.

swampster · 25/09/2008 13:37

I cope by not working very hard (and not having much money as a result) and putting my feet up a lot and yelling at my kids a lot...

Don't be hard on yourself, america, sounds like you need to take some serious time off - do you have any holiday to take before you go on maternity leave?

dinkystinky · 25/09/2008 13:39

Questionkid - congrats on the scan, little boys are lovely...

TBM - hope Tink gets better soon. Poor little thing...

America - its ok to feel down hon; everyone does at some point! The guilt is a mum complex thing - we're all expected to be superwomen and then feel guilty for finding it all so hard. My recommendations are (i) give up on the tidying up (much better to live in a mess then exhaust yourself trying to tidy it up all the time), (ii) do packed lunches the evening before when DS is down and then have a lovely wind down with bath, book and candles and get yourself an early night as you know that DS is going to be up early (my DS is an early riser too), (iii) if walking the dog is getting too tiring, think about maybe getting neighbour's teenage kid to do it for pocketmoney or invest in dog walker service for a week or so (as is important dog is exercised and you are rested - two do not necessarily go hand in hand) until all feels under contro and (iv) get on MN and rant as much as you like hon. Better to let it all out. Hope all gets better for you soon.

dinkystinky · 25/09/2008 13:42

Ah, but at least your swamp is mousefree Swampster...

herbgarden · 25/09/2008 14:02

Hi all...
I only found mat tights worked once my bump got really big as the bit at the top is quite stretchy without being too big and I spent all the time with Nora Batty's otherwise...

Glad all ok questionkid with your scan. It's such a relief isn't it. I have had so much on my plate recently with moving house that in a way it was good that I haven't had time to dwell on it so didn't really think about it til I was in the waiting room yesterday and did have a bit of a heart lurch as I sat there(also possibly coming back into the mat unit after my experience with having ds didn't help it).

America - sorry you're feeling down about things. It's hard not having your dh around and hard never feeling quite that you're satisfying anyone. Try not to be too hard on yourself and take some of the good advice above. Also maybe try to tell your dh how you feel about all of this. I think sometimes when we seem to be coping so well it is assumed that we are fine - men don't always know unless we actually point it out to them ! My dh is quite happy to let me organise, run around like a headless chicken and will not stand up and take notice until I completely lost the plot....and then I'm mad as I've had to lose the plot !!....GGGRRRR

Rant away, that's what we're all here for.

MarkStretch · 25/09/2008 14:08

Hello!

I have been back at work today and have done quite a bit of walking to meet clients. Now I have stretching pains down the side of my bump so I'm putting my feet up for a min with a cup of tea.

Shall we update the list with what we are all having?

TinkerBellesMum · 25/09/2008 14:50

Been chatting on MSN with an MNer who I meet up with sometimes. We went out on Thursday and she was feeling a little rough, she just told me she has tonsilitis! Tink's been ill all week it's just her asthma has caught up with her now, so it's not that long before and they told her that there is a seven day incubation (as her son hasn't got it). Tink wouldn't open her mouth for the GP so her throat hasn't been ruled out. She's had it before and having it makes you suseptible. I'm just glad she's been given antibs and paracetamol.

McDreamy · 25/09/2008 16:43

I just don't feel very pg . I get a few movements but have no bump to speak of, all very disappointing I am 19 weeks today.

swampster · 25/09/2008 16:59

McDreamy, at 20 weeks I am finally getting serious squirms and wriggles. It is lovely.

DS1 was a real mover and kicker and I felt his presence from about 18 weeks. DS2 I barely felt at all. Ever.

swampster · 25/09/2008 17:02

But my bump is phenomenal!

lardybump · 25/09/2008 17:04

Evening everyone hope you are all well..

DD has been ill all night and hasn't slept today so has been very weepy. She also has a temp last night it was 39.9 but have been controlling it with calpol. I feel so tired roll on bedtime....

Questionkid · 25/09/2008 17:08

Mcdreamy - I hardly have a bump either, and have to suffer things like a woman at work who keeps telling me my bump is 'pathetic'. Honestly, that's what she says to me, and more than once too! It doesn't help that I'm not even in the least bit skinny so I'm hiding it all well under a generous extra covering (!) but still, I only look a little bit pregnant. So you're not alone there.

I've been feeling things for a few weeks now (I'm 21+2) but really only serious wriggles etc in the past week. So I don't think you should be in the least bit upset about either, it'll happen. I think we all make the mistake of comparing ourselves to each other and to other pregnant women too much - what's normal for you won't be for someone else.

swampster · 25/09/2008 17:13

And don't be envious - the only reason I'm so big is because I've got no stomach muscles!

dinkystinky · 25/09/2008 17:14

I agree with Questionkid - your bumps will come! Just enjoy being able to wear a less restricted wardrobe for the time being - and am sure the movements will get more and more now that you've started to feel them.

It may be that you have a long body which is hiding it well, your ab muscles are just quite strong now McDreamy or the baby is hiding away deep inside.

swampster · 25/09/2008 17:14

Lardybump, hope you DD is better soon and you all get loads of sleep tonight.

dinkystinky · 25/09/2008 17:15

I'm huge too Swampy - but that's because I have a stupidly short body and the only way for the baby to go is out... I was this size at 20 weeks with DS, so full prepared for the full spacehopper down top look at 40 weeks that I had with DS too
