I think it's time for a new thread! The old one was getting huge...

hello ladies - this may be a personal question but...how much weight has everyone put on so far? I have almost reached to 20lb mark and feel enormous - I still have 12 weeks to go and they will have to roll me out of the house at this rate! I can't remember if I was this big at this stage with number 1 - I never weighed myself during that pregnancy (and wished i hadn't this time round. Any advice for curing my constant need to eat rubbish????

logic · 03/03/2005 13:46

LittleB, I think that boys' heartrates tend to be lower than girls' but it really isn't an exact science. The midwife told me that I was having a girl last time because the heart rate was high. Wrong!

I have put on about 18lbs, noggermum. According to the "book", I should have put on about 21lbs. I am guilty of eating a lot of rubbish too, mostly because I am too busy running after ds to worry about what I'm eating. I know that I tend to put on a lot of weight in the last 2 months though and that I haven't gained anywhere near as much as last time, thankfully.

I was wondering about this too. I'm 29 weeks and I've put on 12lbs so far, I think it would've been more but I was ill over Christmas and lost 9lb when I'd normally have been stuffing myself . I think it varies alot though, I've got a friend who put on 4 1/2 stone, and my sister hardly put on anything - she was sick throughout, but put on a couple of stone when breastfeeding - which is when alot of people loose it. It would be interesting to know what other people are like at the same stage though.

Brighteyes · 03/03/2005 18:09

Lost 7lb due to morning sickness and have gained 21lb since. So in total I'm a stone heavier than my pre pg weight. I'm eating loads of junk but try and make up for it with plenty of fruit and salads too. The only think I really drink is water and the occasional juice, haven't touched tea or coffee and only had about half dozen soft drinks in the last 7 months. Think overall I'm doing ok.

maymum · 03/03/2005 20:54

OK, so I've put on 32lb . I really haven't been eating that badly or anything, but am still having to eat frequently to keep nausea & sickness at bay. I have days when my weight gain really gets me down, then others when I accept that I can't do a whole lot about it right now. Either way, I hope to lose some by breastfeeding, but I know I will have to work hard to lose the rest.

logic · 03/03/2005 21:11

maymum, I put on more weight than that last time! Absolutely do not worry. You have all the time in the world to lose it. It will come off gradually and naturally over the first year anyway.

Hope everyone is well! We have booked a 4D scan for 2 weeks time (30 weeks) and are very excited at seeing a little face and hopefully finding out the sex this time! Its all getting so real

Anyone else had experience of one of these?

logic · 04/03/2005 09:13

Lucky you, Holly! Those 4D scans are supposed to be fantastic! My friend had them done for her two and thought it was brilliant. We considered it but couldn't really justify the cost

No idea how much weight I've put on but I did measure my girth last night. 40" Anyone else measure theirs? I've still got 10 weeks to go!

logic · 04/03/2005 19:31

Mine is 39" apparently, tinker! I've got just over 9 weeks to go. I'm starting to look like I've swallowed a beach ball.

Glad you had a lovely holiday, myermay.

I'm a bit worried that my baby is very small. At my last antenatal appt. the midwife measured the bump and said '25cm hmmmm', measured it again and said '27cm just right'

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been here in a while. HAven't read all that's been going on but I wanted to say all is well with the pregnancy. I am soooo loooking forward to this pregnancy being over. It seems everything is ALREADY pushed up under my lungs making breathing difficult.

My next exciting appointment is at 36 weeks (now almost 28 weeks) when I go for another scan to check placenta location (it was a bit low at the 20 week scan -- but probably nothing to worry about) and I will also talk to a consultant on that day about booking a caesarean.

Is anyone planning a caesarean? I had one last time and am quite keen to avoid the fetal distress and off to emergency caesarean bit. I'd rather just plan a nice calm one and get on with it. I'm a bit worried though about scheduling it for 39 weeks when I live pretty far from the hospital. I might ask for 38 weeks... but I need to better understand the risks involved.

Anyway, hope eveyone else is well. Again, sorry I haven't been around.

Does anyone else find that if the baby is lying horizontally then it is much more painful than if the baby is vertical? It's agony for me. I have to go on my hands and knees and wiggle until she moves around Luckily it's not often.

Glad you had a nice break myermay.

I'm also desperate to get to weight watchers after the birth. Will they let you join if you're breastfeeding?

I think you can join WW when breastfeeding, Brighteyes, but you get more points or something like that. I'm going to try and sign up when the baby is 6 weeks old. I am desperate to get really thin before I'm 30!

Myermay, the tesco delivery man said to me "not long to go then love" a few weeks ago! He also had the cheek to say that he thought women looked at their best when pregnant and glowed. It's fighting talk I know but we must rise above it!

fisil · 06/03/2005 18:15

People constantly comment on your size and can't believe you aren't about to drop tomorrow. Hmmm. Very tempting to make some comment about them giving it a go then! The one I'm getting most at the moment is

"that bump's huge, must be soon!"

"7 1/2 weeks"

"oh, not long then."

"urm, is to me!"

Tinker · 07/03/2005 12:56

I tell them I'm not due until November just to spook them

Sorry if I'm a bit slow in asking this, Holly. But, what is a 4d scan? I can understand a third dimention, but not 4th?
