I think it's time for a new thread! The old one was getting huge...

you too, fisil?

I think I've had two Braxton-Hicks contractions in the last couple of weeks too. I must have had these with ds but I never felt them - not once - so this is new territory for me. My bump felt tight like a contraction for a few moments but no pain. Does this sound like a B-H contraction to anyone?

OP posts:
fisil · 26/02/2005 19:56

Yes. I reckon I had them too last time but didn't recognise them. Now I know more about what contractions etc. are like I recognise them more.

Thanks, myermay, I'm sure you're right. The baby is moving a lot still and we check the heartbeat occasionally. Just feeling a bit out-of-sorts today.

Hi Logic, hope your feeling a bit more positive about things today. I'm starting to feel really anxious as well. Dp often finds me in tears because I just keep imagining the worst.

Whats really upsetting me at the moment is that I keep dreaming that my baby gets taken off me. In my dreams I'm not capable of looking after the baby and someone comes and takes the baby from me. Hoping these dreams will stop when I begin my parent craft classes and I become more confident in my own abilities to care for my child.

logic · 27/02/2005 10:23

I keep crying over sad baby stories too. The dreams are awful though because they depress you for the whole day afterwards. I remember having these with ds too. You'll be a great mum, Brighteyes, it's just all a bit scary.

Poshpaws · 27/02/2005 10:26

Hi all.

Hopefully I won't depress anyone this morning, but seeing as we are being honest....

I worry more about the things they cannot pick up on scans - physically Baby is fine, but what about other 'disorders'. Those things that do not manifest themselves until they are born or older....

I'll shut-up now (very sorry if I have really worried anyone ELSE ), but that's where I have my fears and feel I can share them on here.

SamCattie · 28/02/2005 08:21

Hi Poshpaws. You haven't depressed me. In fact I am in total agreement with you. I too have had my scans now and although they say everything is ok physically with the baby, you can't help but worry if something shows its face once baby is born. I know this sounds morbid, but I read a story over the weekend where someone lost their baby 17 hours after childbirth due to complications. That has scared me rigid! I didn't worry so much in the past months, but now May is just around the corner I am worrying about all sorts. I don't feel the baby kick for a day, I start panicking. I fall asleep on my back I start panicking. And the dreaded L word?? (Labour) I am too frightened to even think about it. It seems like we all have our worries and fears no matter how different they are. But I guess it's all natural and to be expected.

logic · 28/02/2005 09:25

I think that our fears prey on the things that we cannot possibly prepare ourselves for. I found out yesterday that ds' best friend has chicken pox, so we have been exposed to it in the last week. The doctor is going to phone me this morning and tell me what the risks are You can't stay indoors for the whole of the pregnancy though just in case...

Poshpaws · 28/02/2005 12:23

Was thinking about this thread yesterday and today and am so glad that no-one came back at me with an angry response. Thanks for the support.

Was feeling very down over the weekend and now feel better, but still have same worries as everyone else.

Logic, I was exposed in the same way to chicken pox when about 20 weeks pregnant. Hopefully no side effects, but I know what you are feeling right now...

logic · 28/02/2005 13:35

I spoke to my GP this morning and he said that since I've already had chickenpox, there's no way that the baby can be affected. So that's one worry taken away. Now I just have to wait for 2 weeks to see if ds has it!

OP posts:
Poshpaws · 28/02/2005 13:45

Good to know, logic. Especially as I have had chicken pox and so has DS

logic · 02/03/2005 14:01

Where is everyone?

Anyone else started nesting yet? I am in the middle of emptying out the kitchen cupboards and cleaning everything. It's embarrassing how much out-of-date and bizarre stuff that I've found. Still, they haven't had a proper tidy since I was nesting last time...

OP posts:
Brighteyes · 02/03/2005 15:16

My house looks like a bomb has hit it at the moment. Ordered all my baby stuff on Friday and now they have all arrived and sitting in my living room. They are not exactly small boxes since they include the pram, car seat and glider chair plus numerous other smaller boxes.
Upstairs is just as bad, we have just had the nursery plastered before we paint it so everything that has been dumped in what was previously the spare room is now on my bedroom floor waiting to be sorted out.
Luckly tomorrow is my last day at work so I can finally get round to sorting things out. Hoping to re-decorate most of the house before the baby arrives too, so I've got my work cut out for me.

northstar · 02/03/2005 17:31

omg YES i am nesting!!!!
Cannot go upstairs to the bathroom without doing something, wiping or cleaning or putting away. Cleaned the kitchen cupboards today (and yesterday) and re-arranged all the tins again.
Have no baby items out atall, but have them all close to hand in the loft, I'm just way too superstitious but couldnt possibly see anything for the new arrival until im home from the hospital. Dp knows where everything is and what to do.

SamCattie · 03/03/2005 08:13

I must be the only one not nesting by the sounds of it!! I am due at tne end of May, so you ladies have a couple more weeks on me!
All I feel is so tired and want to sleep all the time let alone nest! How do we hold down a full time job and still manage to do everything? Brighteyes, you say tomorrow is your last day at work. When is everyone else leaving work? As I say I am due at the end of May, but I am trying to hold out until the beginning of May before I leave work.

fisil · 03/03/2005 09:04

Good luck with the work, Sam. With ds I was due at the end of December and worked until 7th Dec. However, with this one I didn't make it beyond 26 weeks, so I know exactly what you mean about the fulltime work.

I have all the baby stuff out - ds and I really enjoy going in the baby's room and looking at it. He loves the "Jesus basket" (he's so Jesus mad that he calls everyone from the bible Jesus! - strange toddler!). But I'm making slow progress, I don't have that nesting feeling, I'd rather be asleep. Especially today - I have a dodgy tummy and I fell down the stairs last night (big bruise on my bum, but there's so much padding there that you can barely see it!)

But I do now have 12 foil trays of frozen pasta bake and moussaka in the freezer ready for those days when you don't have time to cook, the cupboards are bare, and you had take out the last three nights!

Brighteyes · 03/03/2005 09:27

Yes today is my final day in work although I don't officially start maternity leave till April (loads of holiday entitlement to take). Feeling rather guilty about finishing at 30 weeks but there are numerous other factors meaning I have to finish this early.

Think I'm going to go stir crazy being stuck in the house for the next 10 weeks waiting for the baby to arrive.

logic · 03/03/2005 11:31

I tend to nest quite early anyway. I'll give up in a week or so but everything is almost ready. Got the formula milk today so that's everything bought.

I hope you are better after your fall, fisil. I am very depressed at how much my bottom has expanded to match my tummy I really should wean myself off my cans of pepsi and chocolate. Glad to know that I'm not the only one eating a lot of takeaways though! I'm just too tired to cook and so is dh.

Make the most of the 10 weeks off, Brighteyes. Get loads of rest but organise a few outings too.

Poshpaws · 03/03/2005 11:33

Sam, I'm not nesting, am still full of energy and will be working upto end April (due mid May).

Am coping much better this time around than last time..

SamCattie · 03/03/2005 12:09

Logic I too am eating lots of takeaways. Who wants to cook a proper meai at the moment?? I keep reading in books that this is the time to have plenty of energy. This isn't the case with me at all. I am going to the doctors tomorrow in the hope she will sign me off for a couple of days. i am so tired and need some rest. My washing and ironing is piling up, and I just want to sleep. I get up most mornings at 6:30am for work, so hopefully I will be able to catch a few zzzz's after talking to the doctor tomorrow

LittleB · 03/03/2005 12:18

Hi, I'm nesting too, but feeling tired too! saw midwife yesterday and blood pressure is down to 90/50, no wonder I've been feeling dizzy, so have to have lots of snacks anyway, will have to just shift that extra padding later! (should come in handy if I do faint though ) Have had a bad back aswell and was moaning a bit, as we all do from time to time, someone told me to stop moaning as I wanted to be pregnant, but a friend pointed out that I didn't want to be pregnant, I wanted to have a baby - i liked her reasoning! I figure we can all have a good moan if we want to!

Poshpaws · 03/03/2005 12:35

Well said, LittleB.

I remember when my sis was pg last year with her second and she MOANED. I had the cheek to tell her that she wanted to be pregnant and should stop moaning. Boy, am I paying the price for that now!

Despite my good days, I still say 'Roll on May'.

logic · 03/03/2005 12:54

I cannot believe that I am down to 9 and 1/2 weeks until my due date! OMG single figures already. Dh is starting to look nervous and I am nagging him to book his paternity leave.

OP posts:
LittleB · 03/03/2005 13:16

Wow, 9 1/2 weeks, I've got 11 to go, but I'm sure its going to be late! It does feel closer now its March, and I'm pleased I'll stop work in April (although only on 29th), its getting closer quickly now, although I can't believe how much bigger we're going to get, I feel huge already. saw midwife yesterday and baby's heartrate was 130, even though it was kicking her monitor at the time, this sounds quite low - doesn't that mean its a boy? we wanted to know the sex from the scan but couldn't tell.
