Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Phew loulou! Am quite that anyone would use WHO advice against a mother who gave up before 2 years - they would have to be critical of at least 99% of the population I should think!

Aubergenie - I think that your post is the first time I've ever heard anyone refer to two left feet as helpful. Don't want to scare you, but you might like to check the archives before you get your hopes up about getting a pushchair in time from them.

Lozza - I was going to mention obstetric cholestasis too re your itchy hands and feet. There's something that can be detected in a urine dip stick which can give an indication if it could be this, so might be worth popping a sample in to your m/w to check just in case.

Knackered and uncomfortable here tonight. Feet are just jabbing my ribs a bit too much.

anyone heard from acessorizequeen?? Does she have her twins now? I'm thinking maybe I missed that post....

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/09/2008 20:56

Not seen her on here for a while, but there was a random post from her on another thread that I spotted yesterday, so I assume that she is still plodding along.

ok just checked out the "teenagers" thread... not sure why - I think because dh was just talking about his year 8 students... It hit me that someday we will be with a teenager in tow.... ahhhhhhhhhhh. I can barely breathe! seriously, a teenager? I know babies grow up, but I just can't imagine!

loulou33 · 07/09/2008 21:25

sadly, csws the WHO advice is used as 'set in stone' guidelines by a number of professionals and advisers, i think, in a misguided way to encourage women to keep bfing for longer. I do believe that those advisers i met meant well but only ended up alienating and upsetting quite a few mums, including me. I have bought the la leche book though and have already found it really useful to remind myself of some key points and also about jaundice and anaemia and bf. i think this may become my new bible and i didn't find it too 'preachy' either.

Rowanmac - i moved ds to own room next door when 4 weeks old as could not sleep with his snuffling and snoring!! We have angel care monitor that has movement sensor for neurotic 1st time parents (that would have been me then) and this saved me huge amounts of worry. Will use again for this wee one. Also dh like yours who could not sleep through feeds so easier for me to go elsewhere and take my time to feed and change without worrying about him as well. Have ambitiously put crib in our room but i doubt it will stay there for long!!

star6 · 07/09/2008 21:28

loulou33 you mean anaemia of mother and bf? What does it say about that? Can you still bf? I have really, really low iron at the moment (hb 6.1). I don't want this to hinder it.

star6 · 07/09/2008 21:29

and is there any way to prevent baby from being born with jaundice?

tedmundo · 07/09/2008 21:35

Evening October ladies, thought I had better report in to stay on the list.

Been away on hols (North Devon, very wet but had a fab time) so catching up with you all.

It is hard to believe we are now mere weeks away from the births. Don't know how the rest of you are feeling, but at this point, I will just be glad to get it over with and start that tricky first few weeks. Keep your eye on Xmas girls, things should start to be a bit easier by then I reckon.

BF is not a given and it burns me up when new mums are put under such pressure to "keep at it". I am speaking from personal experience here. I tried and tried but I just didn't have enough milk in me. Some mummies are so lucky and leak milk they have so much of it. Me? I could express for 40 mins and get about 1oz out. I had to top up at every feed with formula as poor ds was still hungry even after having both barrels from me. I did it for 10 weeks. Each feed took 90 - 120 mins. I was losing the will to live by that point.

I am so so hoping to have a better supply this time round. I really want to bf properly. But I am older and wiser this time and will NOT be wasting my energies if it is clear that my 34B's are not up to the job. I will accept this gracefully and just crack on with formula, no harm done.

Feeling a bit grumpy tonight if the truth be told. Of course I am delighted to be having another baby but I am VERY fed up with being pregnant now. And my ds has stopped eating again which always sends me into a decline. On a good note though, we have a growth scan on Thursday so I will get to see the bubba again. Happy days.

bethoo · 07/09/2008 21:36

evening ladies, cant get on mn with ds as he insists on either laying on the keys or pressing all the keys!
had sex last night and ever since been getting cramps and have lower back ache now so feeling like shit!
am annoyed as i had lots of stuff in a urine sample like blood and bacteria etc and dropped off a urine sample on tuesday and been told results not back yet so have to call again tomorroe. lets just hope it is not so severe that it sets off prem labour as some UTIs do and i am a carrier of GBS as well!
went to a hen night last night for a meal which was nice ti get the chanve to dress up.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/09/2008 21:49

Sex with exdp or someone new bethoo ?

Sounds like you had a rough time with bf tedmundo. At the risk of being shouted at if you're in a bad mood, why were you trying to express rather than feeding ds directly? I couldn't get more than an oz in 40 mins of expressing either, but thankfully it isn't any indication whatsoever of how much milk a baby can get out.

I don't think there's any way to prevent jaundice at birth if it's going to happen star. Dd was quite jaundiced when she was born, and did have to go back for extra heel prick tests, but thankfully she got over it eventually.

bethoo · 07/09/2008 21:55

just wit hthe ex as he was looking after ds last night while i went out but he did not stay full night as mummy had left her keys in the house so he had to go home. feel like she is controlling him. he said he would take me to tescos today then when i rang to say i was ready he told me it would have to wait as mummy had dinner ready in half an hour. feels like i am dating a 16 year old, i may have beenunreaasonable but pissed off! bad enough that when he is round here it feels like he is on a timescale adn his mum rings asking when he will be home! so i tild him we would never be togehter as a couple again. was considering he stay here for first month of babies arrival but doubt his mum would stay off the phone!

Aubergenie · 07/09/2008 22:50

CSWS - You've worried me now about Two left feet! I went with them because someone at work recommended them. Oh well, they're going to call us tomorrow so we'll see. Otherwise we'll cancel the order and get it from John Lewis or somewhere.

Alexa808 · 08/09/2008 03:24

Good morning everyone, long time no post...

Thanks CSWS for another lovely thread! I am somehow sure this one will lead straight into birth announcements, how exciting! 9 months have passed so fast, I still can't believe it. DH and I have just returned from a lovely babymoon on the nearby Indonesian island and all the babystuff is coming together nicely. The nursery should be ready for our babygirl. Can't wait but am sooo nervous.

Baby has definitely moved lower, no BH, just general stiffness and pain in the lower pelvic area and my sleep quality is constantly depreciating.

Due to cyst I am scheduled for C-section 2nd of October. Am already having nightmares about it or the baby coming earlier. Pls keep fingers crossed she stays in.

star6 · 08/09/2008 07:37

Fingers crossed for you Alexa808 My birthday is on the 3rd, so I'm hoping my little one (due 12th) will come early as a bday present!!

Bethoo - you naughty girl!!!
Your dp's mum needs to boot him out and make him learn to cope with life on his own... what is he going to do when she can no longer take care of him? what a baby! The last thing you need when new baby arrives is THREE babies to look after.

jenwa · 08/09/2008 08:39

wherestheaupair
Will have to try that book you are on about as my tummy muscles came apart with dd and they have come apart agin now! dd wasnot big but a traumatic birth. Did go back to size 10 but not the same as before! Need it ironing out!!!

ajm200 · 08/09/2008 08:54

I read on here somewhere that Two Left Feet are being investigated by Watchdog. We used them two years ago for DS's buggy and they were brilliant. We ordered our double from them this time 8 weeks ago, it's not arrived. Called them several times over the past 3 weeks, took up to an hour each time to get through to customer service only to be told that they can't tell me anything about my order and might turn up in the next two weeks.

Their logistics manager is supposed to email me today with a delivery date but we are already working with the credit card to get our money back as 2 left feet take up to 30 days to refund money after they have processed the paperwork and we can't wait that long.

ajm200 · 08/09/2008 09:00

sambrads - Didn't realise this is your second sorry.. get lost with so many posting and lose track of who has LOs and who hasn't still doesn't have to be as bad as last time.

Star Jaundice can't be avoided but is easily treated. DS had mild jaundice but I was still allowed to take him home and had to expose him to as much sunlight as possible (not easy in Nov). It took about 8 weeks for him to lose him yellowish tinge.

Finally managed to get hubby to bring down the baby clothes this am before work. Can't believe how many newborn clothes we have when DS was large and went straight into 0-3. Have 3 snowsuits, 25! sleepsuits, 20 vests but only one cardigan - who was saying about Irish mums, I'm sure most of this stuff came from Mum who got a bit carried away.

Guess I'm going to be busy washing and ironing teeny clothes today

sambrads · 08/09/2008 09:18

bethoo i dont know how you can stick your ex as i am mad at just reading about him !!!!

you really do deserve better

ajm i too have loads of newborn from ds its so so tiny so i am not sure if this little one will get to wear it

it is stressful the thought of a newborn again i can hardly cope with getting up during the night with ds if he wakens never mind doig a fed hahaha

sambrads · 08/09/2008 09:21

Sorry i'm crap at links- this is the one- my friend swears by it and has the most amazing flat tum after her 3! I can only hope that I get similar success. The hardest thing is to actually remember to do the exercises

(coming from the person who has a 'pilates for pregnancy dvd still in wrapping)

Aubergenie · 08/09/2008 09:34

Thanks AJM - I think we might just cancel the Two Left Feet order as I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and even if we can live without a buggy to start with, we need the car seat so we can get back from the hospital.

Apparently they were brilliant with my colleague who had a stillbirth, and they took loads of stuff back from her even though they didn't have to. I went with them because they sounded really good, and the woman I spoke to at the weekend was really helpful.

Have a good week everyone!

star6 · 08/09/2008 09:58

I know someone who had a big big problem with 2 left feet also. Just a word of warning... never dealt with them myself, though.

I think my baby is stretching out... or trying to... that's what it feels like. I want him to just curl up and be still for a few hours...

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 08/09/2008 10:39

I've heard that they can take a while with getting stuff to you, but otherwise they're really good. Aubergenie I think I'm at the point of convincing DH to get the bee, we rent a 2nd floor flat with not much room and don't have a car so really need something easy to use and get around on public transport and lightweight etc. also facing both ways is important to us...a friend of mine due the day before me works on documentaries and has been following links of autism and a ton of experts are now apparently saying they think it's more environmental, so the baby/child gets scared or freaked out and shuts down as a coping mechanism - I'm not quoting any research but one theory is that autism has gone up because since the '80s it's become more popular to have babies facing outwards in prams etc and this may be a contributing factor as it's a lot to take in when you're so new and tiny

as I say, no exact research or figures, but is interesting to consider...

I think I might have a UTI too bethoo - got seriously sharp pains pretty low down like when you desperately need a wee it hurts! no other usual symptoms though so off to buy cranberry juice and hope it's nothing more sinister

Alexa808 · 08/09/2008 11:38

Thanks star, oh a fellow Libra

Have all you guys already packed your hospital bag?

ajm200 · 08/09/2008 11:42

I've got mine done yesterday at 34 weeks. Just need to get some more breastfeeding bras as I'm much smaller this time than last time and none of my BF bras fit. Found one at the bottom of the storage bag that was 38H, can't believe I was ever that big!
