Reban, I shall go to your name thread but I like the sort of names that make everyone groan so I probably won't be much use . My nephew rides at Bourne Vale too - I got him into it about a year ago as he loves animals and lacks confidence. (Horses are the cure for a lot of things imo, and I'm wondering when I will be able to ride again!) It's really worked a treat for him. He's obsessed now!

Happy Birthday for the other day, Olipop, hope you got lots of treats.

I had one of those nights last night where I was awake between 3.30 and 5.30. Have had them a lot in pregnancy and they are a darn nuisance.

PND - yes, worrying...according to what I have read, an important factor can be getting the sort of birth you want or expect. Mmmm...

LadyThompson · 05/09/2008 11:20

Excellent, PoisonDwarf, very glad to see you back again and sorry your RL friends have been a bit neglectful - bum to them! I don't think people understand. I have been out with a couple of different friends this week and been secretly surprised at their complete indifference/disinterest in my pregnancy (both boys though!) - not that I really mention it in any detail to anyone other than my DP and Mum! When are you finishing work? I'm finishing a week today (I am a lazy old bag as I have said before, and also I have a lot of projects outside my day job which need attention!) and I have got a crazy rush to get everything done before that. Sorry I won't see you at the next meet up but do hope you'll come to the next one. Meantime, take care.

rosmerta · 05/09/2008 11:29

hi poisondwarf, nice to see you back again! Ikwym about childless friends, it happened to me last time around and it is upsetting. More bizarrely, one of the friends I lost was one with 2 children but for some reason when I had ds she never bothered staying in touch. I think she liked me as a friend to go out with in the evenings to get away from domesticity but then I was caught up in it all myself so wasn't good enough anymore! Anyway, sorry for the rambling hijack

I've been having my really horrible dreams again, seems like I get them for a week & then they go for a bit. Wish they would just go full stop.

poisondwarf its s true about friends some have been amazing and go out of their way to be in our sons life (even coming up here to see us regularly) but others i hardly see and when i do they treat me like a different person, like that now i have become a mum i have changed personality. the people i used to go clubbing with seem completely surprised when i come out with something dirty or cheeky to say as if now i'm a mother i should be all moralistic or something. The surprise is one guy who is so anti children and who i thought would be weird about DH & I being parents actually tries quite hard with DS and doesn't treat us any differently.

I also felt like a the embodiment of the divine feminine when i was pregnant with DS poison but this time i feel like a lump of blubber and completely unfeminine. However i dropped our cat off at the cattery this morning and the lady who runs it told me my bumped looked very neat which i was very happy about.

pixsix · 05/09/2008 11:48

Hi poisondwarf it was lovely to meet you too last time. Hope to see you again at the next meet up after this one.

Veggiemummy · 05/09/2008 11:55

right were off to London have a nice weekend everyone

Beans33 · 05/09/2008 12:02

Bye Veggie!

Poisondwarf - glad you're back and all is ok. Hurray!

I'm feeling a bit better today on the old fatty front. Wearing some quite tight jeans and although gut is large, it's not sooooo bad. In fact, am going to get a pic taken and compare it to my last one! Will put it on here too in a bit if anyone is remotely interested!!!

Off to France tonight for my sister's 40th - hope it's fun - sure it will be fine. Quite looking forward to getting away from UK, but weather due to be shoddy. Near Chamonix in Argentiere. 3 other preggies going - hurray! And DH and other sister. Will be lovely. Big party. Wish I could drink!

LadyThompson · 05/09/2008 12:26

Yes, put the photos on Beans. DO took some of my bump last weekend but I have jeans on but no bra so I won't subject you to those!

Have a great time in France. You can have a glass or two of wine on a special occasion, non?

Beans33 · 05/09/2008 12:34

I guess so, LT - I will indulge myself, I think. Is anyone else finding, though, that the taste of alcohol is a bit different to how it was before pg? I'm not enjoying it as much any more. So tend not to have any. I would if I wanted it, though, so maybe tomorrrow night!!!

Beans33 · 05/09/2008 12:35

PS piccie up and must say, I'm looking ROTTEN today!! Really tired. Because I went for a swim last night and then chatted to DH until 1am and then couldn't really sleep all night and had a nightmare about vampires!

Beans33 · 05/09/2008 12:44

OOOH OOOH! Exciting news (actually not really) - just nipped to the loo and there's a long mirror in there and.... I'M GETTING A LINEA NIGRA!!! Is anyone else the proud owner of one? Hee hee!

LadyThompson · 05/09/2008 12:58

Yes Beans, I've got one. And I just looked at your pics - you do NOT look fat, you silly girl, for all your posts about being so. Not one bit! You look pregnant and a completely normal size. (Er...well, you look about the same size as me anyway ) and if you are coming to the London meet up on the 19th, I think you'll see everyone looks much the same. As to alcohol, it still tastes great to me, but I struggle after one glass. It's odd. I really enjoy that one glass but if I try to have another, after a few sips I don't fancy it any more.

rosmerta · 05/09/2008 13:03

Beans, how bizarre, my horrible dream last night was about vampires too

OP posts:
waitinggirl · 05/09/2008 13:04

beans yup, i've got one starting. first signs were below belly button, now beginning to appear above - v faint, though.

poisondwarf - thx for advice. sounds like you live in stoke newington? i was there until 3 years ago now moved to bounds green - so would be great to get in contact at some point in the future. anyone else in north London?

re: work - even if my work is only trying to finish my disseration, i feel my enthusiasm sapping away from me hourly. i'll do ANYTHING to avoid it and the deadline is looming.

LadyThompson · 05/09/2008 13:24

Waiting - I think Turnip is in Crouch End? Or is it Artichokes? Effie Perine is somewhere in Hackney I think. You could have a North London meet up!

I am S.T.A.R.V.I.N.G. and can't go and get food yet. And every time I see Beans' name it makes me hungrier because it makes me think of a baked potato and baked beans. Mmm.

Beans33 · 05/09/2008 13:31

Thanks LT - I guess it depends what mood I'm in how I'm feeling! Also for my wedding I'd got down to a size 10 (just under a year ago), so now being a size 14-16 is a bit frustrating. Although apart from wedding, have been that size for years anyway!

Mine's the same, "wg" - just starting below my tummy button - faint, but I can see it and that's what counts!

rosemerta - that is strange! I think I have a weird sort of fascination for vampires - dream about them quite often and quite enjoy films/books about them. But am terrified of them too!

Work... I've only got 9 weeks left, which is 45 days - minus 1.5 days holiday I'm taking, which is 43.5 days. Bloody marvellous! Roll on 7th November!!!

Does anyone know where the meet is happening on 19th?

zoejeanne · 05/09/2008 13:40

Hi everyone, have you all got as much rain as here in Yorkshire? It's just miserable today. And I discovered this morning that I haven't got round to buying any maternity tights yet, so have cold legs. But on the plus side, just met my DH for lunch which was a treat as we've managed that about once in the last year!

wg I was also wondering about the Christmas holiday, so thanks to all of you who've reassured about that. And the centre I mentioned is on the Yorkshire Coast, its a charity, and offers so much support to local mums - even to the extent to having a bed and looking after your baby if you need a nap at any point! I knwo there's not many Yorkshire folk in this group - but if you fancy travelling, they didn't even ask me where I was from just offered me a cup of tea as I walked in and were v friendly.

Like some of you, I also had an energy burst last weekend and achieved loads - hoping for another one this weekend as I've got lots to do!

Have a good weekend everyone (and sorry for the long post trying to say everything I can think of before I log out for the weekend)

waitinggirl · 05/09/2008 13:42

ok - i've had enough and am going to ask: anyone else's nipples becoming increasingly erect and really visible though clothing? or just me? it's getting so embarrassing now

beans - you look great. i also lost weight for my wedding (it was such a motivation and i was so proud of myself that i managed to be fit, healthy and slim for it) - at my lowest was somthing like a size 12 (am 5'10", so not bad for me) - am now in things size 16/18 and still feeling really good about myself. apols to those who are on their 2nd pregnancies and not feeling quite so chipper. i'm sure my time will come.

rosmerta · 05/09/2008 13:47

zj whereabouts are you in Yorks? My parents live in Wakefield and I'm coming up next weekend for a few days!

beans My friend lent me a book about a vampire hunter (Anita Blake?), I was reading that before I went to bed so blame that for my dream!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 05/09/2008 13:49

Actually zj I should read your post more carefully, from what you said I don't think you're really that close!

wg sorry my nipples are staying resolutely flat. Am a bit upset as mw last time around claimed this was the reason ds wouldn't bf. Anyone got any tips to unflatten them a bit? Sorry if that's a bit tmi

OP posts:
Beans33 · 05/09/2008 13:50

WG - YES! My nips are always on point and it's a nightmare! But then when they're not, because they've got slightly prominent, you can still see them if I'm wearing light clothing, because they're also dark now! So that's through (tubular-making) maternity bra, a vest top and a t-shirt! It's bizarre. I've sort of given up. They're not very pretty any more and if people want to look, then they're welcome to!

I sometimes feel really great about preggy body and proud of my "condition", but other times find it a little bit distressing - particularly when trying to get out of the bath! DH finds it hilarious and comes in to watch me as I heave myself up! I don't mind him laughing at me, but I do wish he'd help! and the level of the water goes down so much when I stand up!!! But generally it's fun and I guess if you can laugh at yourself, then makes life a lot easier.

Guys, am I being dim, but genuinely can't find out where meet up is on 19th Sept!!!

Turnip - i know stroud green! this is sounding good for a north london meet once sproglets are here. btw - your profile page says you have no children, whereas the photos show you quite obviously have 2 already. just thought i'd let you know.
