right now thats out of my system. Had my big booking in appointment with the IM today. she is really lovely and we both really liked her. She also let me know about prenatal massage which is included with the deal, and apparently we also have a session with the therapist where DH comes along and learns some massage for during and after labour, nice.

Right the end she gave me a book which she thought i would like by Ina May Gaskin, is she the gates of life lady? might be a funny read.

Olipop · 17/09/2008 16:45

Oh and my SIL had a baby girl on monday morning...at home!!! 3 hours from start to finish. She is tiny and lovely and it all went like a dream! Thats the 4th baby in 3 weeks....but I think that that is it now until December when the next batch of little ones are due!

Veggiemummy · 17/09/2008 16:52

congrats Auntie Olipop is this your first niece. and at home too well done to her.

Olipop · 17/09/2008 16:55

Thank you!!! No..she is my third niece (my SIL has two girls already hence the well practiced birther happy to sprog at home!) and I have two nephews too. Brings it all back to you just how tiddly they are! Made me even more keen to have this one!

Veggiemummy · 17/09/2008 17:06

yeah i have had a few friends having baby now and making me very clucky luckily i'll have veggiebaby to cuddle soon. I'm happy about this subsequent babies being faster thing. The Midwife was talking about it today, i think i would like the next one to come a bit quicker.

Kimberly1979 · 17/09/2008 17:08

Emma Yea!!! Someone else lives out on the east side!! We are excited about the family coming. We haven't seen them since we moved here back at the beginning of the year.

rosmerta · 17/09/2008 17:40

hi all, thanks for the sympathies.

ladyt men are so irritating aren't they? Dh actually answered 'no' for me when someone asked me if I wanted a glass of wine the other week! I had one then just to annoy him!

veggie she is the 'gates of life' lady! Which one do you have - Spiritual Midwifery or Guide to Childbirth?

olipop congratulations to your SIL! Btw, I know we haven't met up recently but hopefully see you week after next?

The mw came round this morning to do the paperwork for my homebirth, seems very nice & positive! Quite scarily realised that my due date is only 11 weeks away .

Hi Kimberley - just had a look at your profile (not a stalker either!) I lived in the US for several years after leaving Australia - where are you from? I lived in San Francisco, Portland OR, Denver, and just north of San Diego over about 5 years! How are you liking it here? My family are coming over from Aust as well so can't wait! It's been a bit lonely being pregnant without them around - but everyone on here has been great for support and advice! (Thanks everyone!)

Olipop · 17/09/2008 18:08

Thanks Rosmerta!! Yes...would love to meet up and you need to see Toby before he gets big! (Sorry for pesky RL hijack!)

Veggiemummy · 17/09/2008 18:12

oh kmp i would love to live in san franscisco i have never actually been there but have had friends who have and told DH & I it is the toan for us and have read up on it a lot but don't think we ever will because we are most likely to relocate to Asia, if not back to Aust.

Rosemerta it's the childbirth one, i know i will find it interesting but she pointed out a chapter on 'sphincter law' !?!? which she thought would be good for me to read , sounds a bit dodgy and was quite funny because when she told me poor DH nearly fell off his chair, for him the word sphincter is quite comical.

rosmerta · 17/09/2008 18:24

veggie I know the one you mean! Actually I'm going to a conference in October which she's speaking at about that topic, am really looking forward to it!

olipop I know, I do need to see him as well!

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 17/09/2008 18:27

She's going to get up and talk about sphincter law, i have to read this chapter then and see what it's all about. Is Caroline Flint speaking?

kmp1 · 17/09/2008 18:34

Veggie Yeah it's a really nice city. Kind of expensive though.... But then again I'm in London now! Where and why in Asia are you thinking?

rosmerta · 17/09/2008 18:36

No she isn't, its called Womb to World, Suzanne Colson is speaking about biological nurturing as well as a few other people

my husband is Chinese and grew up in a couple of different countries in south east asia before his family settled in Australia when he was in his late teens. we would like the kids to spend sometime in asia either Taiwan, mainland china or Singapore for the language and cultural immersion really and well i have also always wanted to live there. The way the western economies are going lately it could also be good for DH from a professional perspective.

Veggiemummy · 17/09/2008 18:45

I don't know Suzanne Coulson, but i do miss conferences, it feels weird to consider them at the moment but i guess would be another good way to keep up with what is happen in my profession.

i am having a read of it now (while watching the Arsenal game) so far have been having a little nose through the birth stories.

it is nice to know my midwife, i am still in contact with DS's midwives and in fact am now quite close friends with one of them and usually DS & I manage a visit to her when we are in London. This new midwife is lovely and reminds DH & I of a very good friend of ours so easy to like her.

waitinggirl · 17/09/2008 19:46

re: sphincters - yes, for my dissertation i am researching the connection between the cervical sphincter and the laryngeal sphincter (vocal folds) - sounding on an open sound can encourage us to open down there. blah blah blah.

gosh you guys have been busy today...

very funny cab driver - would have been tempted to get out, but then you only got it because you were late, i suppose.

Kimberly1979 · 17/09/2008 21:34

kmp1 No worries! I'm originally from Georgia. My husband and I then moved to Texas for three years so he could attend graduate school and then we made the move over here! We really love London. I especially like not having to drive everywhere! I was a little stressed out after I found out I was prego and had no idea how the medical system worked here. But once we got that figured out things calmed down quite a bit. I agree with you on being lonely here without family and friends back home. I'm glad I was able to find this site!!

reban · 17/09/2008 21:40

Oh my god you lot have been busy today!

Will attemp to catch up but please excuse any mistakes as far as names go!

rosmerta so to hear of your loss xx

chutney happy birthday hope you were spoilt!

LT some way back you said you had a feeling you were gonna be early i had that with ds1, strong BH from 30 weeks absolutely convinced he was eager to get out and i was due the day before my bday. Unfortunately he came 2 days after my bday he just did lots of BH to get prepared!

veggie your course sound very good. I started a college course yesterday although it isnt as interesting as yours, its in accounts! Hopefuly help me escape working in financial services after this LO arrives.

ZJ and Beans (i think) re christmas plans i have quite clearly stated to all family "we will see" when it comes to christmas day. Its always quite full on for us with mass, going to my sisters house to see my family and have dinner then over to DP's parents house to see his family and evening buffet. The thing is with having 3 other children there is no way we will be able to just stay at home because they will be bouncing off the walls but just not sure if we will manage a full expedition

Also due ridiculously close to xmas on the 20th so could still be pregnant and very ratty .. or could be giving birth (ARGH!)

My ds1 started nursery today, only two hours for today but they build up to full time gradually over 2 weeks. He nearly exploded with excitement and when i went back to pick him up he had done drawings for mommy, daddy and his big sister so was very pleased with himself

I also did start potty training ds2 on monday but had to abandon that idea by lunchtime today, the fact that we have had zero sucess in two and half days makes me think that he is not quite ready!

Last point and then i will stop rambling and go to bed ( ) if you have not looked on the saving money/promotions page of mumsnet do have a look. I only found it last week but have used it several times already to get discounts ... will save you a fortune at xmas.

xx

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 07:46

Thanks for the tip reban, I'll have a look. Even getting 10% off helps!

How old's your ds2?

Olipop was the Hennes coat a maternity one or one of the normal range? Was thinking of having a look for a cheapy coat as am starting to struggle (and bizarrely a lot colder this time than I was with DS, though I suppose I was due 2 months earlier!).

Re Xmas, I'm due on the 30th so NO family Xmas plans for us. We tend to have a quiet day on our own anyway so shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I'm rather more miffed that our 10th wedding anniversary is on the 28th so v unlikely we'll be able to do anything nice for that. Maybe we'll have to postpone for a month or so. I think you have to keep on saying 'can't make plans, don't know what will be happening, can't make plans' a LOT till people get the message.

EffiePerine · 18/09/2008 09:29

Oh and Xmas/New Year is a lovely time for a new baby: celebrating new birth, the new year and all that. Plus they'll always be off school/work on their birthdays which they will appreciate later on
