Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Dozymare · 05/09/2008 17:28

Poor merrymari what a shock - I presumed you would get to 36/37 weeks unless there were any complications.....are you ok petal??? What does DH say? 10 weeks until term sounds ages away but 4 weeks till delivery sounds very close, so I understand how you are feeling......hopefully you have a lot of support around you????

The PMA for this one though - Dozy can come visit you in hospital if you do go early!!!!

Pinky definately interested in burp clothes (presume they are the same sizw as mussies which are my one staple) in the heart and waffle design....

off for a proper catch up now....

MerryMarigold · 05/09/2008 17:50

Thanks for all sympathies. Like Dozy said I was assuming 36-38 weeks. They usually induce at 38 weeks (or book a section for 37-38weeks depending), but some people go to 40. I kind of had 36 weeks as 'early', but to think it could be next week (the way he said it!)...as long as it is not our wedding anniversary on Oct 4th, wouldn't want to be celebrating 2 bdays on the same day!!! Hope I can still make the meet up. Got another appointment in 2 weeks and believe me I will have a list of questions, for a start WHY does he think that? (Apart from he said the babies are big), but they're only 3lbs at the moment, bless! And when are they going to book a CS in that case? He mentioned none of this to me...but I think he was in a bad mood. He's been on holiday for 8 weeks, first week back!!!!

Dozy, would be GREAT if you could visit, pop up up the A12, Blackwall tunnel!

Oh no, you can't make burp clothes out of MINKY, pinkymink. It's much too special! Or do you back it with something else?

Dozymare · 05/09/2008 17:55

I'm sure pInky said they are backed with waffle. Now I have a thing for waffle, especially white waffle....love waffle dressing gowns, bed covers, pillows etc etc

so to have mussies that are waffle backed, i think I will keep just for me to stroke.....ohhh

Dozymare · 05/09/2008 18:05

crikey, had to post this before I forget...

am just about to jump in the bath with the DC's and on taking my socks off I HAVE A TIGHT BAND WHERE MY SOCKS HAVE BEEN...AAARGGGHHH...I HAVE NEVER ever seem my feet so swollen...tres tres bad sock marks!

Anyone else experienced this?!

Are we turing into old ladddiiiieeeees????

MonkeyMargot · 05/09/2008 18:05

MerryM - so sorry to hear of your bad experience, what an insensitive swine, no need for that at all.

Pinkali - Haey we are due date twins! Take it you are also due 14th Nov?

MerryMarigold · 05/09/2008 20:44

I was 14th Nov with ds1 (my mum's bday). Came on 18th.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/09/2008 20:49

Have a fabbo holiday, Monkeymargot!

Yes burp cloths backed in waffle or terry: dimensions- approx 10" x 17" they are thick, though, very absorbent- so you don't have to fold them like you do regular muslin squares, if that makes sense. I'll try to get some up o0n the blog tomorrow.

Dozymare · 06/09/2008 08:49

Pinky sold on the burp clothes!!! HOw much do you sell those at?????? The number I would like depends on the price but definately would like backed in the red and pink hearts!!!

Ended up with in a bed again last night...anyone got any idea how we can STOP this???????? DS1 creeps in and goes to sleep straight away but DS2 wakes about 330am and shouts as loudly as he can "Mummy bed, Daddy Bed" I tried to settle him back into his own bed but he wasn't having any of it, and at that early int he morning, I didn't have the will/energy to battle it......

DH needless to say snored right the way through.....

I then spend all night worrying that one of them will suffocate under the duvet so have a crp night's sleep........

I need to sort this NOW before DD arrives as will then be horrendous.......

Anyone got any plans for this weekend?? We are having a chilled one which is fab as have had something on for the past goodness knows how many weekends!

Oblomov · 06/09/2008 08:59

Please PLEASE can someone do a link again please.
it was for the nursery stencils/ decorations that included butterflies/dragonflies.
Someone did a great link, and I commented to ceebee (I think) that I really liked them.

Oh bugger, bugger, have searched and searched, but can't find it on this thread or old thread. Want to show to dh and BUY.

Please can someone else find it for me ?

mum2becks · 06/09/2008 10:15

Morning everyone, hope you all have a good weekend planned?

Sorry to hear you had such a bad night dozy

Is this the site oblomov? www.weegallery.co.uk/ cant remember who posted it but I saved it as some lovely things on it! (sorry if the link doesnt work never added one before!!)

MerryMarigold · 06/09/2008 11:08

Dozy, have been wondering the same thing myself as ds has got into habit of coming in every night now (last night was 1am, but varies). He comes in the room all ready with his own pillow and says, "Hello Mama. Can I sleep in your bed?!". I am too fast asleep to haul myself up and put him back in his own bed, and also it's too cute (boy, am I a sucker?)!!! Luckily dh is elsewhere so it's not 3 of us in the bed (you must have a BIIIIIIIIIG bed), but when I am bfing etc. and babies are crying, he is not going to be able to sleep (light sleeper), so not sure how to manage it then...all feels like too much hassle right now. Don't worry about suffocating your boys, they are will able to wriggle out of the duvet at their age.

Obs, been meaning to ask: how is MS?

Oblomov · 06/09/2008 11:31

mum2becks, oh yes, that was the one. Thank you. Thank you.

MerryM, o.k. better. have had to cut back on the tablets becasue was getting bad diarrhea, but so far not bad at all. Much much better than what it was.

how are you doing, with the 'early concept' ? Has it sunk in, yet ?

ceebee74 · 06/09/2008 12:52

Obs - I see Mum2becks has linked to the site (I think it was Thomasina who first found it) - I am definitely struck on the jungle ones for DS's room.

Dozy/Merry - no advice on the sleeping front. It is so hard to be firm and consistent in the early hours of the morning when you just want to be asleep. DS is still in his cot so haven't had to tackle this yet but just know that once he can get out of his bed, he will keep appearing in ours!

Pinky - the blanket arrived today - it is absolutely gorgeous and the minky is SO soft. I absolutely love it!! Just out of interest (although I mentioned them to DH and he has said no) - how much are the burp cloths?

Am going for a sleep now - been to aerobics this morning and then took DS swimming so no surpise I am knackered. Cricket is cancelled (quelle surprise with all the rain ) so DH is free this afternoon and has taken DS to MIL's for the afternoon so I can now just chill - lovely.

SoExcited · 06/09/2008 14:57

Hi everyone - I haven't been on much in ages, and have been desperately trying to catch up on key news.

Someone was asking about nice nightwear - I've bought pyjamas from Blooming Marvellous which are lovely (and were sale price). 3 piece - vest, bottoms, and a tie front cardi. Definitely nice to wear with visitors. Have another set from Blooming Marvellous which were my sisters and they are also nice - def worth a look.

On the puffy feet/ankle thing, I've had this too. Doing exercise helps as it improves circulation, and make sure you put your feet up for a bit. I'm walking 40 mins each way to work, which has helped and putting my feet up for at least half-hour in the evening pretty much keeps problem under control!

Anyone finding it trickier to reach their feet (put socks on, do shoelaces, cut toenails that kind of stuff) - I hadn't expected it to get tricky this early!!

sparkletoes · 06/09/2008 15:08

Ceebee we put DS into his own bed last week and I thought the same as you - that's we'd end up with a little visitor during the night/morning. Touch wood so far that hasn't happened and he sits up and plays just like he did in the cot. My friend bought some netting stuff that she puts over her DS's bed (same one as us) and her DS doesn't get out either. He has been in his bed for 2 months at least now. Haven't actually seen this netting but may invest if we do have problems later... Just thought I'd share a little bit of hope with you for a change!

Yes those nursery wall decorations are so lovely, in fact this thread could have cost me a fortune (if I let it/had any money) recently!! Really lovely ideas!

MerryMarigold · 06/09/2008 15:56

sparkletoes. Ds has been in his bed for about 6 months, but this is a fairly recent thing. It took a while for him to realise he is not restricted anymore. Not sure if he's feeling insecure about babies or just did it once when he had a nightmare and found out it's nice. I think myabe it started as an early morning thing (all of us snuggled before getting up for b'fast) and has moved on. I just don't know how he got into it, but he has! Not sure netting will keep him out, 2 closed doors haven't managed to. I think crying babies may put him off though! He does like saying, "Don't wake me up."

Dozymare · 06/09/2008 17:29

pinky got my blanket as well - thank you it is soooooo gorgeous and BOTH DS's have been after it!!! If you need any help with marketing or PR just shout as I think you have a very unique product.......

Merrymari that is EXACTLY the same with our DS2, went into a bed about 5 months ago, and this coming up and getting into our room has been going on for only about 3 weeks....we are also a real sucker for a sniggly snuggly baby/child in bed but realise that we are making a rod for our own backs......can you let me know more on the netting?????

We had a lovely lovely 3 hour walk today in the park on bikes, perfect weather, blustery but not cold, slight drizzle but not downpiour and tons and tons of fresh air....all sniggled up on the sofa now eating pizza and watching shrek!! I LOVE LOVE family days like this.......

cricri · 06/09/2008 17:44

Hi everybody, hope you're all having lovely weekends. Sounds as though Dozy is anyway and hopefully your sons will sleep soundly tonight after all that fresh air and stay out of your bed!
SoExcited Bending down is definitely getting to be a struggle. I made a bit of a mess of painting my toenails the other day so next time I'll have to either persuade DH to do them or go for a pedicure.
Oblomov I ordered some of those stickers from Wee Gallery the other night after Thomasina posted the link and I have to say they really are lovely They arrived really quickly too. Hope you're OK and that the tablets are working so that you don't have to be admitted.
MM Sorry to hear about your insensitive consultant I know I'd be shocked to be told I was going to have one baby early, never mind two. Hopefully they'll stay put for a wee bit longer.
DH and I went to a parentcraft session today at the hospital which was interesting. There were 15 couples there so it was rather a large group and at one point we all crammed into a delivery suite to have a look. I'm still hoping for a homebirth so hopefully I won't have to go there, but best to be prepared. Tomorrow is an NCT all-day session so it really is an ante-natal weekend! Each couple was asked to bring some a dish to share at lunchtime tomorrow so DH and I are going to start cooking shortly - I'm baking a cake and he's doing chicken and mango salad.
Have a good evening all

MerryMarigold · 06/09/2008 20:02

mmmmmmmm..cricri,mangos are my fav. can you post that salad recipe on the recipe thread please!

dozy, please don't tell me you spent 3hrs on a bike. I am in awe!

sparkletoes · 06/09/2008 20:23

Don't worry Merry I am just burying my head and enjoying it while it lasts! Know it won't and expect when he does start coming in to our room in middle of night I will also cave and let him in our bed for peace. I NEED my sleep!!

Sorry Dozy I have never seen the netting and TBH am having difficulty picturing it! Have asked friend about it but still don't geddit and too to keep asking her about it. Tried googling it but no joy finding it. Kinda think it would have to be on from the start to really work at keeping them in as it doesn't exactly sound... sturdy!

Cricri I loved parenthood classes last time around, found them really helpful. Have booked in for the 2 refresher sessions this time and they start next weekend so hope they will be as good at this hospital. At least they are at weekends as I had terrible time with my previous old (bag of a) boss last time trying to get time off to go!

LackaDAISYcal · 06/09/2008 20:40

Evening all. Sounds like a lovely day dozy, but I hope it was you walking and the DCs on their bikes!

I'm doing my refresher class on Tuesday; a one day thing with the NCT. I'm really only interested in the actual childbirth side of things though, so I hope it's concentrated on that and not on BFing and looking after the baby etc. Not sure what to expect.

DH and I have been nipping at each other this evening. He has been out all day with DS this morning, and then with both of them this afternoon while I tried to sort out our bedroom and put laundry away and clear stuff out to make room for a wee chest of drawers in the bottom of my wardrobe for the baby. Obviously I didn't get on as far/well as he had imagined I would, inspite of me clearing away four baskets of laundry, doing another four loads of washing/tumble drying and clearing out the wardrobe, and got in a strop as I hadn't cleared the lunch things away. Then a friend of ours asked if one or other of us would babysit tonight, and even though he agreed he'd do it as I'm seven months up the duff and they won't be back till well after midnight, he has gone out in a real strop. He does this periodically; something will be bugging him from months ago, and he'll have stewed and stewed and is almost ready to blow a gasket. I'm left thinking wtf, as I've forgotten all about whatever the grievance is. I've asked him what's up but he's obviously not ready to divulge it yet. No doubt I'll have a few more days of this before I get to the bottom of it, although I might refuse to talk to him tomorrow if he doesn't spit it out.
