New thread as the old one was full!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMyDancing · 11/09/2008 14:24

Thanks for good wishes, all! It went quite well, not sure if I'll get it as they were seeing seven people

A bit concerned about it though because:

  • I'm pregnant and haven't told them
  • it would mean working at least four days a week, maybe more, and I only work 3 at the moment
  • DS is going through a really clingy and unsettled phase and I'd feel really bad about upping my hours while he's like this

BUT
We need the money.

Hi I'm a fairly regular poster under a different name as we are not telling anyone including family yet. If you do at any point guess who I am please keep quiet

I'm not completely sure when I'm due as I have continued to have periods/bleeds. I think I must be about 7 weeks and if I go by that lmp then I would be due 29th.

Can I join in please?

Brockster · 11/09/2008 15:23

Hi Gawain
It's really hard keeping the biggest secret in the world isn't it. I'm busting to tell everyone but deep down I know it's best not to.

Sorry to hear about bleeding, hope it stops soon.

Conkertree I thought I was nearer Kingston but they said my postcode falls under Queen Mary's for antenatal. Let me know if your Queen Mary's too.

Gemzooks, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only haribo addict out there - the Tangfastics are doing it for me at the moment.

Mathsmummy good luck with the interview. You don't have to tell them until after you've been offered a post so go for it!

PuzzleRocks · 11/09/2008 15:34

Glad I rang Kingston this morning. Turns out they have never received anything from my doctor.
Brockster - looks like it will be Kingston, not St Marys.
Anyway I now have my scan date of October 9th, can't wait. I'm taking my daughter along and wonder if she will understand, she kisses my belly every morning.

Mathsmummy - how cool, good luck with the interview. I'm a total maths nerd too. I love that term they use in America, mathlete

mathsmummy27 · 11/09/2008 18:36

LittleMy any news yet? horrible waiting isn't it. Found out job starts Jan ;( not ideal.

Hope you are all feeling ok this pm.

lauralou1 · 11/09/2008 19:16

hi all

had another scan today saw my little beans heart beating really fast so that has put my mind at ease

how is everyone else doing ?

LittleMyDancing · 11/09/2008 19:35

They said they would let me know tomorrow, so I suppose either way I'll know soon.

mathsmummy - is it the telly job you're going for? or does Ms Vorderman have a day job as well? we are all agog to know.

Gemzooks · 11/09/2008 22:40

well done on scan lauralou,

Have my 12 week scan tomorrow, quite nervous because of m/c last time, but fingers crossed....

whatawally · 12/09/2008 08:55

Morning all,

Sorry I haven't been posting for a bit, have been quietly watching the thread from the sidelines.

Littlemy- I hope you get the outcome you want with your job interview - sounds like your'e not really sure if it's for you- but if it is what you want I hope it goes your way.

Gemzooks- I really pray it's good news for you at the sca today, and that you don't stress out too much before hand. My last pg was a missed m/c. Diagnosed at the scan (sorry i'm not trying to make you feel worse), it's just at the moment i'm desperate to get my scan so I can see a healthy baby. But I know I will be holding my breath until they say everything is ok.

Will be thinking of you today.

Laralou- I'm so pleased you got he reassurance you needed at your scan.

Puzzlerocks- That's so annoying isn't it. The same thing happend to me with my midwife, think I just got lost in the system somewhere.

Gawain- Welcome to the thread. I'm am also desperate to comeout of hiding and am fairly regualar poster on here under another name too.

It's getting harder with friends too, I've started showing (tho dh reckons it's just insulation, i.e fat). But i've been so sick lately that people cant help but notice. I told a select group of friends on tuesday and several of them said they'd already guessed.

So maybe it's not the big secret it's supposed to be.

Oh well.

Finally had my booking in appointment yesterday, all the usual paperwork. Very nice lady, she said she would try to get me booked in for a scan quite quick as am already 10+2.

Sorry about the long post, must pop in more frequently.

A big hello to everyone else, hope your all ok and not too sicky today.

Gemzooks · 12/09/2008 11:41

whatawally, thanks!

I had the same last time, missed miscarriage at 12 week scan, so I'm very nervous about having it this time, but hopefully all is well this time. You just can't relax any more after something like that!!

mumsoon · 12/09/2008 12:09

Hello there

I hope this finds you all well.

Sorry for the long silence. Have been following the thread. It is reassuring to know that I am not the only one feeling queasy, totally exhausted slushy-brained.

Still getting used to this big bloated tummy business.

I'm finding glucose tablets very useful for fighting nausea on public transport.

Had a viability scan yesterday which was very reassuring.

We've chosen UCH over the Whittington or the Royal Free. Fingers crossed we've made the right decision.

Gemzooks, hope your scan went well today x

evs34 · 12/09/2008 14:01

could i bob in from time to time ladies? was on this thread right at the beginning but we had a dodge scan so left you all for some time. rpeat scan 2 weeks ago showed all was well and will be 10 weeks this weekend. have been on the first timers thread but good reading some of your pearls!

you all sound pretty sick and horrid. i just feel exhausted - tiredness that i never knew existed, cannot wait for it to pass - - heres to second trimester!

will try and catch up on who is who but loads of new names since i was last here. great to have such a big group.

roll on saturday morning lie in! lol xx

mumsoon · 12/09/2008 15:03

evs34 - hello there. great news about your repeat scan. have a good lie in!

mathsmummy27 · 12/09/2008 19:22

It is the telly job - unlikely I'll get it of course!

LittleMyDancing · 12/09/2008 19:30

OOOOOOHHHHHH! Can i have a vowel please?

OP posts:
Gemzooks · 12/09/2008 20:32

hi all,

well, scan went well and there is a little cute thing in there asleep and sucking its thumb! It's amazing how fully formed and human it is, but tiny of course. It's funny because with DS it was just amazing and awe-inspiring seeing it, but this time it's more emotional because I understand what it is to love a child, and already feel I love it. Cried with happiness at DH! Oh dear...

anyway I hope everyone else's 12 week scans are equally satisfying.

Mathsmummy, I think you might well get the job. I have lots of motivational/job interview type thoughts for you, but sure you know them all already! I have got many jobs with fierce competition, and it really is about whether they like you personally or not, whether they feel you reflect them in some way.

hope everyone is having a relaxing Friday night!

mathsmummy27 · 12/09/2008 21:21

oooh how cute Gemzooks! I am so jealous. What a lovely moment for you
Thanks for words of encouragement, will let you all know how it goes. I am so lucky that I already have an amazing job, so no worries if I don't get it.

My scan seems so far away (2 weeks)

salstars · 13/09/2008 06:31

Haven't posted for a while and feel bad now because my news isn't all positive.

Am 10 weeks today but 2 days ago I was at work and the floodgates opened - heavy red bloodflow (sorry if tmi). It only lasted a few hours and no cramps or pain, and now for the last 24 hours I've just had a very very light flow of brown stuff.

Had a miscarriage in May but that was completely different and I felt really ill. The midwife has said it could go either way, but can't offer me a scan until tues am - that's almost a week later!!!

So I'm just sat waiting and hoping that the bleeding doesn't return. Have considered a private scan but am loathe to spend that kind of money when it won't change whatever the outcome is anyway.

Roll on Tuesday

OddEyes · 13/09/2008 10:52

Salstars - sorry for your wait. rest well this weekend if you can.

Evs34 - have been wondering about you - glad for your good news.

mumsoon - UCH is wonderful, all my friend have loved it there. I have had great EPU care there and of course the new unit is lovely. All nice and clean. No cockroaches like at the Whit.
I have chosen Whit again although was sorely tempted by UCH facilities. Thing that swung it for me: Community Midwife care, know the consultant and parking.

Am meant to be planning lessons...!

Gemzooks · 13/09/2008 11:36

sal, hope you can get a good rest this weekend, and things go well on Tues. With DS, I had a very similar thing to you at 6 weeks, massive flow of red blood which tapered off after a day and stopped, but no cramping. Turned out it was fine, never found out why. It was different from the two m/c I had. So don't give up hope, especially if the flow dries up and there's no cramping.. will be thinking of you.

I just wondered, has anyone thought of using a doula? I'm considering it as can't easily have the epi this time round as in Holland. Doula here costs around 750 euros all in.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 13/09/2008 14:55

Well, still feeling quite sick & eating lots of cereal. Anyone else eating torilla corn chips? I'm eating loads at lunchtime (with a sandwich) and the corn chips seem to be soooo calming to my tummy. Just hope I don't turn into an elephant eating so many of them!

Finally got my appointment for my scan! yippie! It's on the 23rd - day I'm 12 weeks, so I'm excited. Not long to wait!

salstars: sorry to hear you've not been so well. Do hope you get a good rest this weekend and that you'll get a happy result with your scan on Tuesday.

Bicnod · 13/09/2008 16:16

Hello - can I come and play too please?!

I'm due on 19 April 2009 and only just found this thread.

Feeling sick as a dog and worrying about everything as this is my first pregnancy.

Haven't yet heard about first scan even though am 9 weeks tomorrow - should I be worried?

StorkExpectedInApril · 13/09/2008 20:44

Hello everyone, just caught up with the last couple of pages.

salstars - fingers crossed for a positive scan result on Tues, hope the waiting isn't too difficult this weekend.

mathsmummy - best of luck with getting the job! I used to watch Countdown quite a lot and always enjoyed it. Won't it be fun if you get the job - would you tell us? We'd all know who you were then!!

Welcome to Bicnod - I've added your details to the list.

I'm doing OK, still feel nauseous and have an awful taste in my mouth. However, my appetite is more or less OK and in fact, eating eases the sicky feelings. I'll have my first bloods done this week but it's another 4wks til my 12wk scan.

I just found this little tool on the Internet, it's good for keeping tabs on things (though not for everyone I guess):

Hi Everyone! Just back from holiday and feeling way to tired to even think about opening up the cases to find all the laundry inside. Got caught up in the XL mess, so got a couple of extra days in the sun!

Will take me a while to catch up on everyone's news, but hope you're all feeling well. Another 3 weeks until my scan ..... seems like a lifetime away!

Gawain · 14/09/2008 12:28

bleugh- sums me up
