lixanismapolium · 14/09/2008 13:33

Hi Gawain - me too!!!!

Bicnod · 14/09/2008 16:48

I can definitely relate to bleugh, and also to not having the energy to do ANYTHING. I woke up this morning planning to get x y and z done, and then the nausea creeps up on me and by mid-afternoon all I can manage is the sofa and some salt and vinegar crisps. Boo really hope this sicky feeling will disappear soon. Anyone else worried about how they'll make it through the day at work tomorrow?

electra · 14/09/2008 18:50

Hello, I figure I may as well join for now if that's ok. I'm 28 and pregnant with surprise child number three (already have two dds). The circumstances are a little strange.....but I won't dwell on that. The baby is due 4th April, but I think it will be a week later by when I first tested positive.

I had some pains last week, and had a scan which revealed baby looked ok and heartbeat, sonographer said I was 9 weeks but she had to do a TV scan to see properly because my uterus tips steeply back...

Anyway, still early days I guess but I feel very sick today - most days feel sick just in the morning but sometimes all day. I never actually throw up though. Also boobs very uncomfortable this time - different from other pregnancies.

Hope you are all doing ok...

hopeful1 · 15/09/2008 09:20

Hi to everyone who has joined and re-joined.

Mumsoon - I am also going to the UCH, have my booking in appt on sat and then 12 week scan in 2weeks when I will be 12+5. I am so glad its got a good reputation. I was born there and I have had fertility treatment there so it made sense to go there.

Eves - so pleased everything turned out well for you

Mathsmummy - Do let us know about the job!!

conkertree · 15/09/2008 10:09

hi everyone - lots to catch up on.

salstars - have my fingers crossed for you. I have heard - but in no way am sure how true it is, that a surprising number of pregnancies start with two fertilised eggs, and one drops away fairly early on, resulting in bleeding but with the other one being totally fine, so will be thinking of you tomorrow.

mathsmummy - thats exciting- good luck.

went to see thomas the tank engine at Bo'ness on saturday with my 3 year old nephew - he was exactly the right age for it and totally loved it - has apparently been telling everyone he's seen since that he met the real Thomas. very cute.

ds is sleeping so badly just now, that am really starting to worry about coping with 2, but too late for that now. Will need to read up on some techniques for encouraging good sleep from 3am onwards cause he's fine until then.

lauralou1 · 15/09/2008 12:28

hi all

how are you all doing ?

just a quick question am really really tired and have no energy at all feeling sick constantly but not actually being sick any one else feeling ill am 7 weeks pg ?

already had 2 weeks off work but havent gone in again today i havent even got the energy to hoover do you think the doctor would give me a sick note ?

take care love lauralou1

dungungirl were are you hunni ?

Kalikaroo · 15/09/2008 12:44

Is it just me or is even trying to think about work while pregnant just completely impossible??

I've been here for 6 hours now and done nothing!! Most annoying part is that I have loads of stuff to do...

Just can't seem to get motivated at all. I skived off work for 2 days last week because I couldn't bear the thought of actually speaking to anyone or doing anything not involving lying on the couch feeling sorry for my self

Oh crap - I can hear my boss coming up the corridor towards my office....

conkertree · 15/09/2008 12:49

yup - i am not exactly motivated just now - would rather think about which sling to buy this time round, and look at baby name websites.

must admit, am also quite enjoying being at work for a little bit of time away from ds - much as i love him to bits, a little bit of time to not read the same book 35 times is very nice.

B52s · 15/09/2008 13:11

Hi girls, may I join? I'll take the 21st April slot if that's still free, although I suspect it'll be later than that as my cycle was about 40 days long. It'll be my second, already have DS1 who is currently 19 months old.
Mostly feeling knackered and a little nauseous, and more than a little windy.
What fun. God luck all

B52s · 15/09/2008 13:12

Pregnancy spelling.

Kalikaroo · 15/09/2008 14:53

Sorry for the whinge earlier - just having one of those days!

I'm actually feeling ok at the moment and a lot less spewy than a few days ago, so I should really be pleased!

Hope you're all having a good day!

By the way, has anyone started doing any pelvic floor exercises - my mum has only given me 2 pieces of pregnancy advice so far 1) eat crackers/rich tea biscuits when sick and 2) do pelvic floor exercises!!

Thought I should probably start doing them to make sure everything down there is in good working order for the birth!

Kalikaroo · 15/09/2008 14:54

PS - welcome B52s!

PuzzleRocks · 15/09/2008 15:29

Hi Kalikaroo

This is my second time. I had to have an episiotomy, ouch, and got a telling off from the midwives for not bothering with perineal massage so I think that is a very good idea too.

Welcome B52s. These early weeks are tough with a little one to care for aren't they! I feel really guilty at the moment because i'm slumped on the sofa all week while she makes her own fun. Normally we are very active. She seems to be taking it in her stride though.

B52s · 15/09/2008 15:57

Thanks for the welcomes PuzzleRocks and Kalikaroo. Just realised I underestimated DS1's age by 2 months (truly pregnancy brain). Anyway. Done precisely no work today, too tired and unmotivated. DS1 is hard work and I feel guilty plonking him in front of the Night Garden while I dose on the sofa. Feel my childminder and MIL do far more with him than I do. Nevermind, he's happy and healthy.
Am planning on telling parents this week - they'll be chuffed and will understand why I've been so tired recently. And gone off tea.
I found pelvic floors really only helped after the birth to stop leaking when I sneezed and to get the old fanjo back into some sort of shape for the next bout of nookie. That was a surprise - barely felt it touch the sides . TMI - sorry.

conkertree · 15/09/2008 16:12

hi b52s - can relate to that - dont want to scare the first timers, but thats probably the side of things that i found the hardest to get used to after the birth - think it maybe never quite gets back to how it was, but if anything, things in that department are better than before iykwim.

not sure why i felt like sharing that after only just getting to know you all - but am bored at work and trying to make the time pass quickly.

hopeful1 · 15/09/2008 16:51

Is that really true?? I asked my sister if sex felt the same after childbirth and she said it does....was she being economical with the truth??

Can I just ask....why don't girls ever tell you the horrid truth about pregnancy? Noone ever told me about the stomach cramps, the knicker checking, the copious amounts of vaginal discharge and the changes in sex afterwards just to name a few. Is this because they think you would never do it? I would have rather known the truth so I didn't feel so anxious for 10 weeks!! I am going to write a bookafterwards called what they never tell you so girls can be more prepared!! Sorry if going on but constantly confused!!

conkertree · 15/09/2008 17:01

hi hopeful - i think that true - people are scared to put others off - but i doubt it really would cause none of them are so bad compared to having a baby at the end of it (says she who has not had a decent nights sleep since August 2007).

For me, sex afterwards was one thing i worried about quite a lot - i think i thought that if things were looser shall we say, and dh didnt enjoy it as much, it could eventually long term lead to him looking for better sex elsewhere.

waited about 4 weeks till things were less sore, and gave it a shot and it did definitely feel different - i suppose the degree that things change depend on lots of things like size of baby etc - but it certainly didnt feel as tight. it has since tightened up not quite to the same feeling as before but not far off - and dh has never complained.

And with regards to the big O - I have one probably every second time if not every time now whereas it was pretty hit and miss before, so cant complain on that front.

Ok - totally tmi - but well I dont think I know any of you in rl, so what the hell.

conkertree · 15/09/2008 17:03

to clarify - i didnt think dh would suddenly run off for that reason and no other, i just had in the back of my head that it could be one reason for a slow breakdown of that side of the relationship etc - probably pregnancy hormones working overtime.

I also apologise for the lack of punctuation leading to my previous message being quite hard to read.

mumsoon · 15/09/2008 17:54

hello all, hope you're feeling well and enjoying pregnancy.

oddeyes and hopeful1: thank you for your comments about UCH, very reassuring. and do write that book about what really happens during and after pregnancy - i'm sure it will be a best seller.

I have been suffering from the nausea today - to my surprise, a mug of jasmine tea has totally got rid of the sickly feeling! definitely going to try that again in the morning.

Bicnod · 15/09/2008 19:04

hello everyone... just got back from a loooooooong day at work and feeling very proud that i managed not to chuck up over garlic man sitting next to me on the train on the way home.

Is anyone else suffering from extreme intolerance to icky smells, especially smelly breath and body odour?!

Also just found out that I won't have my scan until week 13 - that's 4 weeks away

Gemzooks · 15/09/2008 20:15

hopeful, I agree with conker, sex is better after becoming a mother, at least in my experience. You feel much more 'I am a woman, raaah!' and much more relaxed. However during pg and for a few months after the birth, you have to expect a bit of a downturn, just part of the ups and downs of a relationship I suppose.

Bicnod, I totally have the same: have several colleagues with slight odour probs as work for an environmental NGO, and I just cannot handle sitting in the lunch room at the moment.. The same with the fish shop. yeuch!

also, hopeful, about the 'horrid truth;, I agree there should be more honest info, also about childbirth. There's a kind of conspiracy of your mum saying 'oh, it's just like REALLY bad period pains'. I personally found that being as informed as possible about the worst side helped me as nothing could be as bad as I imagined!!!

Bicnod · 15/09/2008 20:40

I read an article in the londonpaper on the way home from work today - apparently Billie Piper was unable to get up close and personal with her costars in secret diary of a call girl as she was early pregnancy and couldn't stand their smell

so glad its not just me Gemzooks

x

mathsmummy27 · 15/09/2008 20:48

Just to add my comments re: sex after childbirth - I had the opposite problem! (warning: big TMI approaching) After my episiotemy the stiches were quite tight and now much tighter than ever before because of copius scar tissue etc. Doesn't help that mathsdaddy is ahem quite well-endowed. I still bleed a little after sex but no big deal anymore, worries mathsdaddy more then me!

V1KK1M · 16/09/2008 08:47

Hi All,

Just thought I'd let you know that I had a scan yesterday and all was fine. They dated me at 8+1 so that takes my due date to 26th April.

Ended up going to the EPU as my migraine had caused visual disturbances and was having stomach cramps and was worried sick but they were really nice and just gave me the once over.

If anyone has any tips on getting rid of migraines that would be good - it is really getting on my nerves now!!! I need the next 4 weeks to be over quickly.

LuLuBai · 16/09/2008 11:54

Hello All

Just been trying to speed read the last fortnights worth of chat after getting back from holiday.

Puzzlerocks - what department of Kingston hospital did you ring? I am still waiting for my scan date. I think I am nearly 11 weeks now and nothing seems to come through the post. DD was born at Chelsea & Westminster so I don't know my way around the Kingston system.

Fortunately I did have a scan at 7 weeks and saw the heartbeat then. But that was to check up on a cyst spotted after previous MC and it was in the radiology department rather than the antenatal.
