nigeltuffnell · 08/09/2008 15:35

Hi conker,
yea , gap seems very small and I'm sure once we're telling people there will be a few raised eyebrows....
my ds does NOT sleep through, he has and sometimes does but has allways been a tricky sleeper, wakes often and wants to be awake for a bit before settling again, exhausting!!
I reckon he'll have cracked it by next year then his new baby brother or sister will wake him up! Our house is minature....

conkertree · 08/09/2008 15:55

i know - i'm almost embarrassed to tell people as i think they might assume it was an accident - which it wasnt quite - but we stupidly expected it to take longer so didnt really think too much about that size of gap.

i am dreading telling work as i only came back from mat leave in april, and another solicitor here just left so dont think they will be happy - not that its actually anything to do with them, but just could be uncomfortable.

will leave it as long as possible before doing so i think.

the sleep thing is nightmare - all i hope is that dc2 is a better sleeper - dont think they could be much worse really.

nigeltuffnell · 08/09/2008 16:09

I reckon you and I are the lucky ones, dp and I just seem to have a conversation about babies and I'm pregnant!
I know what you mean about work, I had a year off, have come back to much applause and relief, also more responsibility and now I'm going again....
To be honest though, I dont love my job, am retraining as a yoga teacher and actually loved being at home with my son....

hopeful1 · 08/09/2008 16:20

Jemima - so sorry for you, am thinking of you x

Does anyone else have a problem sleeping!? This is my first pregnancy (9+3) and I haven't had a decent night sleep for weeks and weeks. I wake up nearly every hour. If its not to pee its because I am having another vivid dream. Then I can't get back to sleep because DH is snoring!!!! I am so tired!!!! Is this it now, will I never get a decent night sleep ever again until child hits 30??????

nigeltuffnell · 08/09/2008 16:31

Hi hopeful, I hate to tell you but with heartburn, teeny bladder and rolling over like a beached whale towards the end of pregnancy, this may be the good time....
I too am awake most nights with raging allergy attacks, manic sneezing and wheezy coughing fits.
The vivid dreams are mad too hey? Have you dreamt you've delivered a cat yet? Apparently quite a common one....
I hope tonight is better for you.

conkertree · 08/09/2008 16:44

nigel - i'm in the same boat - dont love my job and would rather be with ds, although also have something else for a bit of money, so trained to be a kilt maker when on mat leave last time - going to set up a wee business this mat leave and see how it goes.

yoga teaching sounds like a fun job.

hopeful - it does seem really unfair that when you need extra sleep, you dont get it. i dont remember too much about sleep during pregnancy cause i havent had a proper nights sleep certainly since ds was born, and everything before that is a bit of a blur - i do remember vivid dreams - no cats, but a few where i was asleep after the birth and didnt wake up for days - had that one a few times.

dh/ps snoring is really unfair imo. i keep making dh turn on his other side cause i just cant sleep if he's even breathing in my ear - poor man puts up with a lot

mathsmummy27 · 08/09/2008 18:53

hello ladies! back and work and feeling (mostly) great...except hen I have to walk past a big patch of bark stuff (daily) which cats have weed in pleurghh
how are we all this evening?

Gemzooks · 08/09/2008 19:42

hi all,

welcome mummyonthe run, there's a few of us m/c veterans on here, you're not alone!

mathsmummy, glad you're feeling better, the cat pee would be enough to 'turn anyone up' as my granny would have said..

conkertree, sounds really interesting being a kilt maker! I would imagine there was quite an online demand from the US/Canada etc. re sleep, you'll have an angelic, sleeping 2nd kid. I, who have been so smug because DS has always slept well, am guaranteed a night demon! re work, I've just started new job (been in it 6 months), but I do work for a women's environmental NGO so I"m hoping they're not too bad about it..

Hopeful, I seem to remember the weird dreams being a feature from last pg. This preg I've dreamt that DH was having an affair at a party while I waited outside, guarding all our possessions from thieves, and also dreamt I had a little boy and DH called it 'Edward Sevin Michael' without consulting me. Sevin? Fears of having too many kids?

right, time for tea
hope everyone has a calming evening

OddEyes · 08/09/2008 20:01

me too, me too, me too!

Work: just went back in April with big responsibility - relief for department. Now going again. Although I have reallynjoyed working two days a week and ds has really benifited from nursery. Hoping that if I get mat leave he can keep going for two days in those first few months.

Sleep: Weirdest dreams that really unsettle me and give me active worry brain so I can't get back to sleep, find it difficult to get comfy, up for bladder emptying and snacks = very tired me!

Scan: another scan on wed to see if baby grown. can't go through mc again but body still giving me positive signs even if I fell pants! Will tell everyone after that as am looking pregnant and am hating people thinking I am fat and spotty!

Nigeltuffnel - yay a due date twin at last
Welcome to all newbies!

Back wednesday with good news hopefully,

Oddeyes 9+4

SalBySea · 08/09/2008 20:29

argh - I am in AGONY!
I have IBS which I can normally manage quite well, but now that I'm pg and everything has slowed down its causing me constant pain! I feel like I've swallowed a brick wall!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 08/09/2008 23:04

Hi everyone - not been on here for a little while. Just too exhausted, sick and busy, I guess. Anyone else been feeling worse sick rather than better? The past few days have been pretty bad for me . I don't feel like eating anything - tho being hungry makes me feel really sick, so I have to eat something. Any ideas what to eat??! The past two nights I lost my dinner both evenings - after feeling dead awful for an hour or so. Was relief at first, but then starving - so had to eat a bowl of Sugar Puffs before going to sleep. Just can't wait for the sickness to pass - this time is far worse than previous 2 pregnancies.

Btw, not sure how to cope with cooking for husband and children when just the sight of food makes me feel sick - and the smell is just too much. I'm running out of ideas of what to cook for my family - boo hoo! Just looking at cookbooks makes me sick. Help! LOL

Cosmogirl · 09/09/2008 08:46

Hi rachel,

I feel your pain, I haven't eaten dinner for about 5 weeks, I am just living off cereal, bread and ice lollies. Tho like you I don't really have an appetite for anything atm.

We don't have any other children and luckily dh is happy to get on and cook for himself. He does all the cooking normally anyway.

I keep scaring myself by thinking what if the sickness doesn't go and I am stuck feeling like this for 9 months. Don't know how I would cope with that ....

tristaleejac · 09/09/2008 10:15

Hi everyone, thought I'd check in and say hello.
Rachel - I'm the same my sickness seems to be getting worse too. I just feel sick all the time. Thankfully I haven't actually been sick but that doesn't make me feel any better really, I still have 24 hour nausea.
Ha! After my brother asking how I was feeling and me telling him about this 24 hour nausea ha had the cheek to say "so you've not had any morning sickness then" Obviously to some people if you're not actually hanging over the toilet you're not sick. Well I stick my middle finger up to them!
I was laughing at myself last night. I'm 25 years old and I was delighted to be going to bed at 10pm! This growing babies thing really is tiring though, I seem to just have a constant tiredness.
Anyway hope you're all feeling ok today xx

mathsmummy27 · 09/09/2008 10:24

Sal - me too I am existing on Fibogel and cereal. Too many carbs makes it worse, not helful when you're addicted to monster munch as i am.

rachel - my poor family are living on pasta and oven chips. I made lasagne last night in a fit of guilt - - big mistake. yuck.

Cosmogirl · 09/09/2008 10:30

I hope we all start to feel better soon. There seems to be so many of us suffering. This is so crappy
I am 11 weeks today and I don't feel like I'm improving at all.

mrsfossil · 09/09/2008 11:13

Hi know how you feel, dh came home and had to cook his own dinner as i felt so yucky, he offered to cook me something but i just had bran flakes. They tasted so nice I did wonder if i put my fingers down my throat and actually was sick wether i would then feel better

I'm finding that if i have a small snack or glass of choc milk between meals then i don't feel so bad. If i wait until i start to get hungry then i just feel ill. Alos v.tired. I never had any of this with ds, maybe its because i'm a wee bit older!

SalBySea · 09/09/2008 16:55

just realised that time isnt going as slowely as I initially felt it was

seems like yesterday I was 5+5 feeling like I'd be in the first trimester forever and suddenly I'm 8+3, hope the next 3 weeks go as quickly

Its my hen night next week - I hope I'm not as grumpy with my friends as I have been this week with DP, especially since only two of them know that I'm pregnant so i wont be able to use that as an excuse. I am definately not in the mood for it, a douvet day sounds 100 times more exciting to me

conkertree · 09/09/2008 20:53

evening everyone - sorry to hear about all the sickness.

dh is off at a conference for three days - first time i've really been with ds for that length of time on my own - if he's been away before i tend to go and stay at my sisters, but thought it was about time I stood on my own two feet.

so far going fine but totally knackered this evening. think i will go to bed at 9ish cause ds keeps waking about 5.30 and not really settling back down.

hope everyone else has a good night.

conkertree · 09/09/2008 20:59

totally sympathise about the hen night salbysea - think thats the last thing i would fancy just now - mostly cause of the tiredness - is it too late to sugest doing something else?

LittleMyDancing · 09/09/2008 21:07

hi ladies,

haven't been in for a while, have been busy with DS and got a job interview on Thursday.....hoping I just look a bit plump rather than pregnant, and agonising a bit over when to tell them I'm pregnant, if at all.

also not really feeling able to face up to this pregnancy until after our OSCAR scan on the 23rd. It won't tell us for sure that the same thing as last time isn't wrong, but it just feels like a big milestone and am very nervous about it.

sorry, hope i haven't brought anyone down!

Have a lovely hen night salbysea!

DungunGirl · 10/09/2008 09:05

opinions opinions please

I am 10 weeks now and company having a staff day out on Friday that starts at 9am and finishes at 6.30pm!

This would involve commute into work - 1.5 hours. Then a coach ride out to location - 1 hour.

Then after a long day the same thing again.

Question:
Would you go on it?

I have nausea all day/indigestion and tiredness....I don't know whether I will last the day.

It is hard enough doing a normal 9-5 day!
