New thread as the old one was full!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bubbaluv · 19/10/2008 11:20

Welcome Bellamummy,
I'm due with my 2nd on the 11th too!
Sorry to hear about the cold. Have you tried burning some tea tree oil? It is a great decongestant and is also antiviral so can actually help you get better and help stop you spreading it around. Miracle oil IMO!

BarbarellaNz · 19/10/2008 15:02

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your messages - yes, it was a bit of a surprise that we were having triplets. It was our sixth IVF attempt (first attempt worked but miscarried at 10 weeks) and, even though we had only two embryos transferred, one kept dividing into a set of identical twins so....three babies at once! We are very happy but keep being told it is 'high risk' so just keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well.

The due date is the 9th of April but the consultant says we'll aim for 34 weeks as they don't like to leave them in for longer than that.

As for prams, I think we'll have to go for the 'one in front of the other' style as we have very narrow corridors/lift in our building.

Have started to feel human again for the past week as last 7 weeks before that were full of nausea and vomiting. Am pleased I get scanned every two weeks as I still worry all the time that something will go wrong.

Hope you're all feeling well and having a nice weekend!
Love, Barbarella XX

LuLuBai · 20/10/2008 08:00

Wow BarbarellaNz - I am sort of envious but also terrified of the thought of three babies. Very exciting. And lovely to have lots of extra scans.

And welcome Bellamummy.

To update on the cat - we went and looked at this other stray and it wasn't ours. Shame. The search continues.

mizzannie · 20/10/2008 08:36

hello all welcome barbarellanz and bellamummy,
strange question to you all but what is your bump size at the moment? mine varies from quite little first thing to proper bump by the end of the day. and sometimes in the night it's all on one side.
told a friend this and she said she's really surprised i'm showing at all as its not normal to show until 25 weeks (i am 16 +3).

PuzzleRocks · 20/10/2008 08:57

Mizzannie, it totally depends on your frame. I have a little bump and i'm 13+5. It does change throughout the day.
This is my second pregnancy, I had a bump from about 18 wks with the first.

LuLuBai · 20/10/2008 09:31

Hi mizzanie - I have a little bump too. I'm actually wearing maternity jeans today for the first time (and sooo much happier for it after a weekend of squeezing into my usual jeans and feeling miserable). I'm 15+5 and this is my second baby. With DD people were able to tell I was pregnant from around 15 weeks onwards.

My bump also looks bigger in the evenings. I'm not sure if it is actually getting bigger or sort of rising up. I quite often have to re-do my bra towards the end of the day. I was the same with DD. Later on in pregnancy I started having to actually take off my bra when I got home from work (and once in the cinema as it constricted me so much around my rib cage (although it always fitted fine again in the morning).

LuLuBai · 20/10/2008 09:35

And mizzanine - 'not normal to show until 25 weeks' is exactly the sort of comment you will have to get good at shrugging off throughout pregnancy. People say the most ridiculous things! Everyone is different and some people seem to show almost immediately while others breeze through 9 months still fitting into regular clothes.

DungunGirl · 20/10/2008 10:20

Mizzanine - I have definite bump too.

THis is my second pregnancy. I didn't really show untill 16-18 weeks first time and this time round, as soon as I hit 14 weeks this bump just appeared!

I have the same, small bump in the morning and it is a full blown bump starting from under my boobs right out until under my belly button. It is huge!

I think it is absolute rubbish that one shouldn't have a bump until XXX.

BellaMummy · 20/10/2008 10:55

Snap! This is my second and I am 15 + 2, and I got offered a seat on the train on my way home from work last week! This lovely man gestured to my bump and offered his seat. I definitely look more pregnant later in the day. I'm sure on my way to work it wasn't quite so obvious - or nobody wanted to give up their seat.....

Anyway, we're supposed to show more with the 2nd. It's the rule!!

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 20/10/2008 11:15

Last time round I used to get people saying 'don't you look big' and 'isn't your bump small' in the same day, sometimes in the same hour, so I have come to the conclusion that they know nothing and say things like that just for something to say. My preferred response is to just nod and smile, or if they've really annoyed me then say 'And aren't you looking big today too!' with a big grin.

For the record, I am 17 weeks on my third pregnancy and have a good round bump, doesn't stick out more than my boobs yet but it's close. Also seems to depend on where the baby is - at my midwife appt on Fri she found the heartbeat right down by my right hip and I was looking quite small, while all of yesterday the baby was wriggling madly up by my belly button and I stuck out much more.

Getting some quite regular wriggles and kicks now, nothing you can feel on the outside yet but definite movement inside.

LuluBai - Sorry it wasn't your cat

Welcome BellaMummy!

LuLuBai · 20/10/2008 11:41

Hi - just to confirm that we are all 'normal' - the NHS website says that from 14 weeks we 'may just be beginning to show': www.nhs.uk/Planners/pregnancycareplanner/pages/16weeks.aspx

LuLuBai · 20/10/2008 11:44

Oh and LittleMy - lucky you with the wiggling and kicking. I can't wait!

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 20/10/2008 12:01

It is lovely when it starts happening . I'd had a couple of odd kicks before when something was pressing on my bump, like a waistband, for example, but the baby's definitely moved up a gear since Friday.

Baths are a good place to feel them, if my experience is anything to go by.

B52s · 20/10/2008 12:23

Welcome to the new members. It's nice to know we're expanding...
Had my scan last Thursday, Sprout was kicking and wiggling and waving. Convinced I can feel it moving about too. Bump is big - I feel like I'm about 6 months gone, not 14 weeks!!! Didn't start showing till 18 weeks last time, but I guess my stomach muscles are shot to sh*t now.
Still have that taste in my mouth and am thirsty all the time, but however much I drink my wee is orange tango. Mmm nice.
Think I have added myself to the list...

16 weeks and still not showing - starting to wish I had a bit of a bump! Mind you it is nice still fitting into my clothes. This is second so I expected belly to expand quicker this time.

conkertree · 20/10/2008 13:36

hi everyone and particularly to the new people.

I feel that I am showing slightly myself, but hoping its not too noticeable as havent told work yet. Dh's parents have been off round the world for the last three months so were waiting till they came home at the end of this week before telling people in general, but its just as well its this week or i think people would start wondering.

was shopping at the weekend and saw so many gorgeous new baby things, but its only been 14 months since ds and have already forgotten how small they start out.

ds took his first proper steps last week - he was very proud of himself (as were we).

sorry - abit of a me me me post, but think most of what i'd have said about bumps showing had been said before.

gingersarah · 20/10/2008 13:57

Hopeful1 and BinkyB, sorry I mixed you up in my other post before. Any news from Hopeful?

Very autumnal today - definitely looking forward to a 49-hour weekend at the end of this week!

Hope you're all well, suddenly it seems like time is flying with people showing (I do a little, and HAVE to tell work, but my boss is like the Scarlet Pimpernel) and even babies wriggling! can't wait.

sorry for such a nothingy post, I have nothing to report, which is a good thing I think!

Have a good week, all.

BabyBolat · 20/10/2008 16:41

Hey all

Mizannie, I am really showing - is my first pregnancy and I have a bump that is almost as far out as my breasts but does depend on the time of day, how much I have eaten, whether I have gas, if I need to wee etc (sorry if TMI!) but completely changes - one minute I feel 6 months pregnant, the next i feel relatively normal!

I feel so very very jealous of all your movement - I am just coming up to 18 weeks and I haven't felt anything! I felt a kind of stinging pushing (about five times after another) fairly low about a week ago but nothing since and nothing like the popping bubbles or wriggles you describe.

Conkertree, that is amazing - well done DS!

I too have been spying lots of baby clothes - although have to say my over-excited sister took me to the baby show at the weekend and it completely freaked me out - I almost had a panic attack when they tried to put a baby carrier on me (think reality well and truly hit in!!!)

Hope all is well this Monday afternoon - can't wait for the weekend already (which I know is bad!!!)

sausagemcgrah · 20/10/2008 20:05

Hi guys,

I have finally got the courage to let you all know I am no longer still with you all on this thread. I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks I'm afraid. It's wonderful to see how many of you there are though, and the best of luck to you all. Enjoy your pregnancies.

I was ScrumptiousBumptious by the way. Would someone mind taking me off the list xx

ToastnHoney · 20/10/2008 20:16

Just logging on to catch up with what's been going on.

Sausage/Scrumptious. So very sorry to hear your news. :-( :-( :-(

OddEyes · 20/10/2008 21:49

Sorry Scrumptious! Take care! Is the hardest thing to grieve for your lo, my 2nd would be almost about due now. Best wishes for the future.

OddEyes · 20/10/2008 21:55

On the tummy front - I am huge, in maternity clothes since 9 weeks and now look like I did at 21 weeks and am 15+4. Everyone commenting on size of bump: twins? etc. Lost weight during first trimester so happy it isn't that! All the kids asking now - enjoying being really offended that they think I am fat

OddEyes · 20/10/2008 21:56

Wlcome to new folk since I last posted. Barbarella you must be getting big too?

mathsmummy27 · 20/10/2008 22:21

I have spent the week admiring my huge bump - and then went to a dinner party where a friend arrived who is due the same time as me - in a tracksuit and looking about twice the size of me! Just goes to show. I definitely look pregnant now but I love love love it - dressing a bump is pure pleasure to someone who normally dresses to conceal my wobbly bits! And so much firmer now ... )))

PuzzleRocks · 21/10/2008 09:02

So sorry Sausage. Have updated list for you. Take care. x
