pinkdolly I have some pics on facebook but dont wanna join any "due in april MN" type groups till we "go public" after scan and bloods

Gawain · 01/10/2008 10:45

Hi people. Sorry I havent posted before but I've been trying to do a lot of organising inbetween being very ill.

I had my dating scan yesterday and theres only one in there. Big PHEW
They also beought my date forward so the early ovulation would explain how this one came into being.

The consultant said I was allowed a vbac yay but I would have to be monitored all the way through boo. She did say we would talk about it nearer the time though as long as I got to term. I will never get my waterbirth though even after 4 attempts. My other big no was being induced and she said they wouldn't do that so overall I am feeling pretty positive.

Keep posting I love reading all your news.

Ooooh I've joined the masses

BabyBolat · 01/10/2008 11:26

Hey everyone - hope you are all feeling Ok today. My nausea is definitely wearing off but still kind of there lurking around like a bad smell!! hmmmm

Congrats Gawain on the good scan and the good news (as a first timer I am still googling all these words to find out what everything means!!)

I got my nuchal / blood results back this morning. My risk factor is one in 1297 on age and overall one in 25,948 - so that is good right?!!!

The only potential problem they see is that I am Rh negative which means I have to have some injections and the baby might be positive which could be an issue - should I be worried about that?

SalbySea I don't think my family, friends and colleagues are quite so tactful, so far my week has consisted of the following comments:

"You can just pass it off as holiday weight!"
"My new nickname for you is Roly Boly"

hmmmmm.....

SalBySea · 01/10/2008 12:28

babybolat I may be wrong but I think if the father gets tested and is negative too then you dont need the injections????

Bubbaluv · 01/10/2008 12:32

Sal, they would still give the injetion just in case the father is not the father iykwim!

Bubbaluv · 01/10/2008 12:45

Babybolat, the injections are nothing to worry about at all. Not big or painful ones.
I have to have them too.

BabyBolat · 01/10/2008 13:01

What are you saying Bubbaluv???!!! hee hee (only joking!!)

Well guess it's better to be safe than sorry and have just done a bit of google research and apparently there are no risks to the baby even if we are the same blood type so that's fine!!

BabyBolat · 01/10/2008 13:18

Thanks Bubbaluv, they just sent me through this huge booklet to read (which just made me more confused to be honest!)

V1KK1M · 01/10/2008 13:22

Hi all,

I have tried to have a good catch up but there is sooo many posts!!!

I had my booking appointment on Monday and had all my blood tests taken and I have a scan tomorrow. By my dates I'll be 10+4 but the midwife said that it was OK as long as I had the scan past 10 weeks.

This is my dilema - I will still be a little nervous and I will want to tell the world but should I really wait until 12 weeks even though I don't get another scan?

Bubbaluv · 01/10/2008 13:44

I would wait V1, but I'm a big secret keeper.
Is you scan too early to do a nuchal measurement? Not that I'm saying you HAVE to have a nuchal scan!

Bubbaluv · 01/10/2008 13:46

Wow - just noticed how young your DD is - you're a sucker for punishment!

Jumbs · 01/10/2008 14:16

Hi all, sorry not posted in ages just too tired in the evening to do anything other than the basics and too busy in work.

Updating list as MW insists scan date is the one to go by, so now March not April. I'm worried about being induced now as I went to 40+11 last time and now they've moved my due date back I'm thinking theres even more chance of being induced.

Re. birthing centres, I started off in one last time as I definately didn't want an epidural and felt this way I couldn't chicken out into having one! It is a 20 mile ride to the hospital from birthing centre so no being wheeled through. As it transpired I got transfered due to meconium (sp?) in my waters but as soon as DS was born I transferred back as in hosp I had to buzz and wait 10mins or so for m/wife to appear. You won't believe it but at the birthing centre I was the only person there for the first 24hrs so I had 3 m/wifes to myself so had tons of help with feeding, just general chat etc plus when OH and I were wandering about they knew us by name etc

Apologies for going on!

Hi all, haven't posted for awhile..sorry to see that we've lost two more ladies. I'm always shocked when I read of any losses, hopefully there won't be any more.

Changes here are that my nausea has abated somewhat over the last two weeks but I still have an odd taste in my mouth from time to time and I need to wee occasionally during the night (which I hate having to do). So, not too bad really! My scan is a week on Friday so looking forward to that.

Bubbaluv - Yes I am. Life is going tobe interesting for the few years!!!!

gingersarah · 01/10/2008 15:52

Hello!

Can I join the list with my April 19th due date? Do I just copy and paste and myself in date order?

I have just found this and it is great to feel fellowship with everyone doing what I am doing and feeling what I am feeling. I have also been sitting on trains with my head between my knees - not my finest hour.

BabyBolat · 01/10/2008 16:12

Hi Gingersarah - welcome to the group and congrats - I really feel for you on the train, I still hate it - although did you know that if the train is busy you can upgrade to first class if you are pregnant - my colleague told me this today (which would have helped last night as I was sat on floor!)

forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1188635

I have just had a look at the maternity rights and I didn't realise how rubbish the statutory maternity pay was!!

My company has never had someone pregnant before that has been there for long enough to warrant it (the only person to have ever gotten pregnant before was only there a week before she found out!) so anyway, they don't have a written policy. I am really hoping that they offer me more than that! Am really nervous about it all actually!

Any ideas on how I approach it?

Bubbaluv · 01/10/2008 17:16

I'm from Aus, so I thought 90% of my salary for 6 (or is it 9 months now) was incredible! In Aus you get nothing, although I think there is now a 1 off payment of about 6k when the baby is born.
Unless you work for a very large organisation I think you are v unlikely to get more.

Carameli · 01/10/2008 18:38

Hi All,

I keep meaning to post here but things keep getting in the way such as my 2 other darlings dd 5yrs and Ds22mnths and a major building renovation we are in the middle of. oh what fun At least I am still smiling.

I am due on 28th April. Had a scare last week and got to see the lo on very detailed scan, was only 2.6cm long but a fab scan picture to have.

gingersarah · 02/10/2008 10:02

Thank you BabyBolat for that link - very useful.

I am also worried about how low the statutary maternity pay is - I know that we don't get more at my work, a much respected colleague went on mat. leave this summer and if she couldn't get more there is no way anyone can.

Are you in an industry where there are other companies that are direct equivalents of yours - so you can research what they offer as maternity and then present that to your HR dept if it is more - using the tone that implies, "I would assume that I would be getting x,y,z as that is industry standard...". (I would try that here if I didn't know for sure there was no hope.)

I have a scan next week at 12 weeks and 3 days. I can't wait for it to be over. I am feeling weird about not feeling so sick any more - tho just as tired and very fat and greedy.

gingersarah · 02/10/2008 10:04

(Bubbaluv - that would be incredible, but only some companies offer that, if they choose - statutary pay is 90% for 6 weeks only)

BabyBolat · 02/10/2008 11:55

Yeah, I am pretty sure that they only offer statutory maternity pay which would be rubbish!

(Warning whinge coming!!) You would think employees would want to make it as attractive as possible for you to come back, especially if you have been there a long time (have been in with my current company for 4 years and apparently I am not entitled to anymore benefits than someone that has been here for a few months!!!) grrr!

Anyway! Very glad your scan went well Carameli

Bubbaluv - I want to work for your company - sounds amazing!!!

I hold my hat off to all you 2nd and 3rd timers - I am just about coping with a job and house - you must have 40 pairs of hands to deal with small children as well!!!

Anyway, hope everyone is well today! Apparently I have started sleep talking / walking! Never happened before, but according to DH I got up and got ready for work at 2 this morning and started typing (in to my pillow)!
