Claireykitten · 29/09/2008 11:28

Hi

I have FINALLY just got the letter through for my first scan 13th Oct 1pm I will be approx 14 weeks by then.

BabyBolat · 29/09/2008 11:35

Pinkdolly and mathsmummy, glad we have two more happy scanners

Pinkdolly, not sure my little bean is quite as photogenic, every time she tried to take a snap it shoved its bottom in to the cameral lense!!!

My nausea is still around but nowhere near as bad as it was before, am hoping its starting to die down a little bit now (am 14+1 so fingers crossed!!!)

Claireykitten good luck for the scan, is so exciting!

diddle · 29/09/2008 13:49

I'm loving it that so many of us are having lovely reassuring scans. had mine last week, baby is fine and wiggling and stretching away, I was very pleased.
Feelign totally knackered most of the time still, suspect my sickness may be getting slightly better, but we'll see.
my 2DS's are fast asleep so really is i should have my feet up making the most of it.

13 weeks today and so happy to be starting my 2nd trimester. still can't help but worry as its still so early. But feel myself expanding by the minute which is good.

anyway enough waffling from me, congrats to everyone on here for getting this far.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 29/09/2008 14:13

hi guys. can i be taken off the list please?
after a weekend of spotting, had a scan today and was told baby stopped growing at 6 weeks.
as its a mmc, ive now got to go in for a d&c under general anestetic on monday next week, which im not very happy about as i wanted sedation, not a general, but was told i would have to wait 3 weeks. couldnt bare the thought of carrying around my baby that long, so looks like i have no choice.

so anyway end of the line for me im afraid. feeling very sad and tearful, DS keeps asking me if im ok and telling me he loves me. bless him.

hope you all have happy and healthy pregnancies.

natty x

nigeltuffnell · 29/09/2008 14:27

SalBySea · 29/09/2008 19:21

so sorry to hear that we've lost some people since I was last on here

got married this weekend - put my wedding dress on my normal tummy but when I took it off my tummy was definitely rounded and has been since - seems to have popped out during the course of my wedding day. I can definitely see it in some of the pics!

despite my morning sickness making a dramatic return for the whole week before the wedding, it stayed away for the day, and the fatigue stayed away until today too so it was great

Have to wait till next week for my scan - fingers crossed!

mizzannie · 29/09/2008 20:08

hello all,
natty very sorry to hear your news... look after yourself.
congrats on your wedding salbysea! did you have the lovely sunny weather?
thanks so much for all your responses to my birth centre question - made me feel quite emotional, but then everything does at the moment!
mrs fossil and baby bolat the b centre i would be going to is actually in the hospital so hopefully i would have the option of an epidural if i needed it.
pinkdolly and claireykitten - so great to hear a positive birth story! i have like some of you been inundated with horror stories (unrequested) all of which make me think holy sh*t.
gemzooks - i kind of feel my body wouldn't know what to do ... but i guess this is something we'll all find out!
conker tree - can you tell me a bit more about the tens machine and what kind of pain relief it can give?

BabyBolat · 29/09/2008 20:22

ah salbysea glad your wedding went well and the baby behaved itself - lets hope it has the same skills when it comes out!

Did anybody guess?

Good luck with the scan!

Bicnod · 29/09/2008 20:44

Natty - so sorry to hear your news

sending huge hugs x x x

DungunGirl · 30/09/2008 08:42

Natty so sorry to hear your news. Sending big hugs your way!

pinkdolly · 30/09/2008 09:35

natty- really sorry to hear your bad news. Plz make sure you take it easy over the next few weeks/

Salbysea- Congrats on your wedding. R we gonna get to see any pics? Be brave and post some on here for us.

Girls I need to moan this morning- Hope you dont mind.

Dh is in the navy - he has his notice in and will leave around the time the baby is born. But he is due to go on a front line sqaudren at the end of the month. That means he has to do sea time.

He was origionally going away from 28th nov till 8th Jan. Which is rubbish as it will be our first xmas apart . Well now they've told him this morning that he'll be more than likely leaving on the 3rd November instead. Making the whole trip 9 weeks instead of 6.

He will miss not only xmas, but his birthday and the next scan.

I know in the grand scheme of things 9 weeks is not that long (one of his mates has just been sent away for 6 months ). But I am hormonal and emotional and I feel the whole thing is rubbish.

Sorry for being down this morning, just needed to vent. Be back in a more cheerful mood later..hopefully.

BabyBolat · 30/09/2008 10:03

Ah pinkdolly, that is really horrible for you and I think you have every right to moan - of course you want him around at the moment, its only natural!

The only positive thing to think about is that once he has done these last 9 weeks that is it and he will always be around!

My husband and I spent our first Christmas apart and while I absolutely hated it, my family were lovely and we had a special Christmas when he came home and while it was not the same we still had a wonderful day (in the middle of February!!!) And another excuse for presents, decorations and roast turkey....

Is there anyway you can ask for an slightly earlier scan - you are only a week or so behind me and I am twenty weeks at the very end of October so you might be able to get to have a 19 and a half week scan, that way he can be with you just before he goes?

DungunGirl · 30/09/2008 10:39

Had my 12 week scan yesterday and somehow magically thought that all my indigestion and nausea would dissappear now I am past 12 weeks....

urrgrhhh no such luck....

Anyone else counting the days till nausea lets up?

At least got to see baby - looked happy and healthy! Was a very bouncy little thing! A little gymnast!

Brockster · 30/09/2008 11:11

Hi all
I've just got my booking appointment for this Friday and my nuchal scan booked in for 20 October - I'm so excited.
Although I've been getting so paranoid that there'll be nothing there as it's been ages since I did the test.

Nausea seems to have gone a bit but that metallic taste won't budge - gross.

I'm starting to run out of excuses of why I'm not drinking alcohol to friends and family. I'm meeting all my girl friends on Saturday - has anyone got any good excuses they can share?

DungunGirl · 30/09/2008 11:52

Brokster

Have you used the 'I'm on antibiotics" trick yet?

BabyBolat · 30/09/2008 12:25

I had a kidney infection for ages - it just wouldn't budge!!!

Brockster · 30/09/2008 13:20

Thanks ladies
I used the antibiotics trick last time, they're bound to get suspicious if I use it again - oh well keep em guessing!

mumsoon · 30/09/2008 13:37

hi brockster - i've been using the 'i'm detoxing' excuse which is wearing thin but seems to keep people happy...

got my booking in appt at UCH this Fri, then the 12 wk scan the following Wed. must confess i am a little nervous, i hope bean is well. it will be nice when i can feel some movement.

dungungirl - i know what you mean about the indigestion and nausea, when will it go away? just had a jacket potato at my desk and i could now crawl under the desk and go to sleep!

best wishes to everyone on the thread.

Also haven't had my nausea go now I'm over 12 weeks. I seem to recall last time it was still just about hanging on at 16-17 weeks and then at last I was better. I managed much better on hols than I thought I would. Something about being sick in someone else's home ? (were staying with family).

Someone asked about TENs. It was my only pain relief for DD. I can't say absolutely that it worked, but since I did all my labour at home and rushed to the hospital when I could feel the top of the baby's head (birthing centre I was planning to go to refused to believe I was far gone enough to come in) it was a real help for me to think I had something. I didn't set the button over level 3 either, as the mw was telling me I was only at the half-way point and I thought I ought to save some!

Someone else asked about a birthing centre. The one above was lovely and I had set my heart on going there. Very personal, quiet, birthing pools available etc. and I thought it was just for me. In the end though, because I was 'so in control' as they told me afterwards, we did a mad dash to the hospital 10 mins away from us. I still think it would have been a great place to give birth and I now know I can do without pain relief, but out of loyalty to the hospital that bailed me out when we when were desperate I've decided to have no 2 there (it is under threat of closure so the more births there the better chances it has got!).

Sorry, LONG post.

Take care everyone
