Bicnod I know exactly how you feel - I simply could not envisage this pregnancy going well so by the time we got to the OSCAR scan I was practically crying in the waiting room, I was so convinced that the baby wouldn't be alive, or would have a huge nuchal, or my blood would be completely rubbish.

But things do turn out ok, and you are allowed to have some good news! Wishing you loads of luck for tomorrow.

OddEyes · 24/09/2008 22:47

Had my scan and combined test today. Bean still there - silly to be surprised but had set myself for the worst despite seeing Bean twice already.
All well. Exactly on dates. Nuchal fine just awaiting bloods which i will get at booking appointment on Friday!
Starting to hope and think about having a baby in April. How a m/c can change your outlook, never feared once with ds!

Bicnod · 24/09/2008 22:53

Thanks LittleMyDancing and BabyBolat. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow...

It's so helpful to talk to people on here - I don't know anyone else who is pg and this is my first time so I don't know what's normal and what's not.

Sleep well all

purlease · 25/09/2008 10:41

I know exactly what you mean odd eyes. With DD1 we announced pregnancy to all our friends as soon as we had 12 week scan.

Had 12 week scan on Tuesday - all looks fine - but I've just told family and a few friends - just the ones who I had told about MC earlier in the year.

I don't think I'll actually believe it is all okay until I have a baby in my arms.

babypringle · 25/09/2008 10:48

I had my nuchal fold scan last night and everything was fine - chance of downs came out at 1 in 24000 so I think I can relax about that.
Consultant also said that he was 80% certain of the baby's sex and told us ... and I am sooooo excited . Don't want to say until the 20 week scan tho - I guess they must get it wrong from time to time?

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 25/09/2008 11:01

They do get it wrong - my consultant said he got his own child wrong when he scanned at this stage!

babypringle · 25/09/2008 11:10

don't tell me that ... i'd be really pleased if he got it right (but also really pleased with the other as well)!

conkertree · 25/09/2008 11:12

i've been totally convinced of the sex of this one since pretty much straight after the bfp test, but i dont know if its subliminal wishful thinking or what. I dont think it is cause I genuinely think I would be as happy with either, but it was just such a strong feeling.

Guess I'll know in 7 months time.

babypringle · 25/09/2008 11:17

I've been increasingly convinced of the sex of the baby, and what the consultant said matched what I'd been thinking. I was convinced throughout my first pregnancy that DS was a boy, and he was. Intuition is pretty powerful. But I won't be going out buying clothes until after the 20wk scan!!!

conkertree · 25/09/2008 11:30

they refuse to tell us at our scans - not sure if i would ask anyway cause i do quite like the surprise, but at the same time, I'm desperate to know either way.

babypringle · 25/09/2008 11:37

poor u conkertree ... we didn't find out last time but i've been absolutely desperate to know. wondering if it will be easier to explain to DS that he is having a baby brother/sister rather than just 'a baby'. although he's only 2 and at the moment he just looks at me blankly when I tell him that there is a baby in mummy's tummy

conkertree · 25/09/2008 11:48

yup - i know that people say its a baby and its got lots of other personality traits rather than just its sex - but it definitely changes your view of how you see things in the future - eg we have one ds - i can see holidays and days out with two dss being different from with one ds and one dd - not that we wouldnt want our dd to do all the outdoorsy things etc - maybe just that we'd do some girly things and dh and ds might go to the football or something, whereas with three males and me in the house, it may be more male dominated.

I know thats being very gender sterotyped and a dd may well like football and i can go and watch the ballet with ds, but its just how i picture it in my head at the moment.

horsygirl · 25/09/2008 17:53

Hi folks. Started bleeding a little bit this morning so phoned hospital. I've been for a scan and they say I'm 11 weeks and the baby is fine today I bled a month ago before I found out I was pregnant, too. I thought it was my period coming but three days later I found out I was pregnant. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm really scared I may miscarry

Bubbaluv · 25/09/2008 18:05

I had a big bleed last week, but all was fine. We all seem to be bleeding at the mo!
What did the hospital say?

horsygirl · 25/09/2008 18:18

They said as it was quite small and the baby seems perfectly happy it was probably just 'one of those things'

When you say big bleed, how big was it? Like a period? with fresh blood? R you ok ? xx

Hi everyone, just took myself off the list. Had a scan today and confirmed what we were thinking so I'm afraid it's goodbye from me. Hope everyone else has event free pregnancies, take care mmxx

Bubbaluv · 25/09/2008 19:10

Oh, yes - like a heavy period with clots and all! Bleugh! Sorry TMI!
All fine though, had a scan and they said it was "just a heamorage" which sounds rather grim but is apparently very common. They said that it was already healing and shouldn't cause further problems.
Had another scan yesterday and all still fine.
Don't worry about having a small baby. My last was small and made my pregnancy much easier!

Bubbaluv · 25/09/2008 19:12

So sorry MM.
Such sad news. Big hugs.

Bicnod · 25/09/2008 19:27

I'm really sorry MM x x

conkertree · 26/09/2008 07:25

sorry to hear that mm - sending a hug to you.

hope everyone else is doing fine today - am on holiday from work now for a week - yay. off to centre parcs on monday - really looking forward to it as its our first proper family holiday since ds was born - just will be slightly of dh getting to sip all that wine, but never mind - 10 weeks today so only another 30 to go

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 26/09/2008 07:31

morning lovely people

up early today fretting about this job - see here for why.

Not sure what to do, to be honest, so am drinking tea in peace before the boys wake up.

Hope everyone is feeling well today. MM, so sorry to hear your news, hope you're feeling as well as can be expected.

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 26/09/2008 07:32

conkertree Center Parcs sounds lovely! I could do with a holiday.

conkertree · 26/09/2008 08:17

poor you littlmydancing - sounds like a horrible position to be in.

I am thinking about (as in application form is 85% complete) applying for a new job just now, but I know its not great timing in terms of maternity pay etc and i suppose from the employers point of view they wouldnt be delighted at taking on a pregnant employee - but at the same time, they could be taking on somebody who in the long term will be beneficial to their company/organisation, and yes there will need to be maternity cover put in place, but if we had started the job say 6 months ago and then got pregnant, they would still have needed to arrange mat cover.

I havent made up my mind whether to apply, and if I was offered it, whether I should tell them at that stage - just cant work out what would be best but i really want the job so i think i will at least apply.

hope you are able to make a decision that you are happy with
