Congratulations Rachel and LittleMy - that is fantastic news - LittleMy I will be showing the whole world if today goes well so dance away!! Have you both started telling everyone? I am so pleased for you both!

Rachel - my latest due date is 1st April but am waiting for scan today to make sure - so maybe you will have a little foolish pal!!

I am so excited / petrified about today - I couldn't sleep at all last night and have been up since five thinking about it (I am sure that is not normal!) the next four hours are going to go so slowly!!!! Reading all your good news (and bad) is making me so anxious to get in that room!!!!

Woke up this morning and had breakfast and touch wood feel fine today so hoping that is a good sign!

Do I need to do anything to get ready for my booking appointment / scan? Honestly I don't think I was this nervous about my wedding day! aaargh!!!!

lixanismapolium · 24/09/2008 08:14

still bleeding a little, so feeling incredibly nervous about this morning's scan.

Please send me some sticky baby vibes!!!

BabyBolat · 24/09/2008 08:36

Good luck Lixan sure everything will be fine, keeping fingers and toes crossed for you!

lixanismapolium · 24/09/2008 09:11

Thanks Babybolat - good luck to you too!

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 24/09/2008 10:25

Good luck BabyBolat and Lixanismapolium! Sending you lots of good vibes for active healthy babies.

Rachelinscotland - my due date was April 1st until my scan when they put it forward by two days. I was quite looking forward to a fool! One of my best friends from antenatal last time had a little boy on the 1st.

Jumbs · 24/09/2008 11:16

Hi all, good luck for those having scans today!

Had mine yesterday and they've moved me even further back than you Rachel in Scotland. I thought I was 12+4 due 3 April but scan made me 13+6 and due 25 March. I'm pretty sure of my dates so don't know how it can be so far adrift.
I asked if being a big baby made a difference but sonographer said not at this point and thats why they do the dating scan now rather than later when baby size can play a part.

Hoping they keep the date as the later one, or it changes later on in pg as I went to 40+11 last time and moving the date back might mean I'm forced to have an induction.

Also have anterior placenta but don't think this is a prob unless its low lying and might still move.

conkertree · 24/09/2008 11:21

you can tell me to mind my own business, but when you say you are sure of dates - do you mean sure of date of last period, or sure of dates of bding? cause i suppose it could be that whenever your period was, you could ovulate earlier than you think or something?

but if you know exactly when you bd'd, i guess that wouldnt work.

good luck with the scans today - mines not till 9th october - still have to work out which excuse to use to get me out of work for an hour or so. cant use dentist etc cause i work three days so should make an appointment on a day i'm not in.

Bubbaluv · 24/09/2008 11:35

Conker, for me it's the scarcity of sex that makes me pretty sure of the dates!

purlease · 24/09/2008 12:34

They count dates from LMP rather than based on your sexual encounters. I had scan yesterday and they said I was 12+4 which is the exact time since LMP.

Just added myself to the list - we don't really have to put our age in do we?

conkertree · 24/09/2008 13:01

i know purlease but what i mean is, people go to scans with dates in their own head - sometimes based on date of lmp, but sometimes having worked back from dates they know they bd'd (for example if you dont have a 28 day cycle which is what the lmp date is based on), and if the scan measurements make you a different time from when you expect, it could be due to not ovulating exactly 14 days after lmp etc - but if you are basing it on dates you know that you bd'd, its more confusing cause it can only have been fertilised within a few days of that.

thats a very long sentence that probably doesnt make sense, but never mind. its been a long morning.

purlease · 24/09/2008 13:10

makes perfect sense - sort of.

I would have thought if they were using LMP and assuming a 28 day cycle, the dates would then be based on expected date of ovulation but for me they have counted it exactly as the number of days since start of LMP.

I'm happy with this because I really want to be past the 12 weeks so I can stop worrying.

Does that make sense ?

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 24/09/2008 13:13

The dates are only based on a 28 day cycle if they use the silly paper wheel thingy - when you have your proper scan they ask you how long your cycle is and then base it on that, so it's a bit more accurate.

Also, the 'weeks pregnant' thing is a bit confusing, because they actually add two weeks to it to make it match the LMP, so for the first two weeks or so before you ovulate you're not actually pregnant, but you're counted as pregnant, iyswim.

So when someone says they're 13 weeks pregnant, they actually conceived 11 weeks ago, ish.

does that make any sense at all or has my brain leaked out of my ears?

BabyBolat · 24/09/2008 14:03

Hi all

Am back from the scan and literally jumping for joy! Saw a very very very active baby kicking waving (and showing us its bum numerous times!) with the loudest heartbeat I think I have ever heard!

Was so very very weird but the best feeling ever - cannot wait to show everyone the pictures!

DH was silent - have never heard him so quiet

They have moved my dates back again (I am so confused by the whole thing) but am now somehow 13+3 so due on 30th March - have updated the list below!

Cosmogirl · 24/09/2008 14:07

So sorry to hear that Lix. Take good care of yourself xx

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 24/09/2008 14:08

Oh lixanismapolium I'm so sorry to hear that I hope you're feeling as ok as you can be. Pamper yourself with chocolate and wine and curl up on the sofa. Sending you lots of love.

BabyBolat · 24/09/2008 14:12

Oh Lix I am so very sorry, especially as I have been chirping on about mine! take care, thinking of you xxxx

OddEyes · 24/09/2008 15:35

Lix am so sorry! Rest well and take time to grieve!

conkertree · 24/09/2008 15:51

Lix - sorry to hear that - echo the curl up on the sofa with a nice glass of wine, and look after yourself.

Babybolat - congrats to you - sounds like you had a great experience, and thats cute that your dh went all quiet.

mrsfossil · 24/09/2008 16:30

so sorry to hear your bad news - lix take care.

Bicnod · 24/09/2008 19:53

I'm so sorry to hear your news lix sending massive hugs.

My official dating scan isn't for another 3 weeks (I'm 10+3 today) but I'm having a scan tomorrow morning at a drop-in centre at a local hospital as I can't sleep because I'm so scared that the baby isn't there anymore.

I feel so pathetic.

I'm very good at compartmentalizing my feelings and you wouldn't have a clue that there's anything going on at work, but as soon as I get home I fall apart. It's been a difficult year for us, we lost a really good friend in the spring and then I fractured a vertebra in my back in March. I think I just can't believe that I would be lucky enough for the baby to be ok.

Anyway I'm driving myself nuts and I'm terrified about the scan tomorrow. Sorry for rambling on.

BabyBolat · 24/09/2008 20:08

Ah Bicnod don't worry!

  1. You are not pathetic
  2. You are not rambling
  3. You are entitled to fall apart whenever you like (I find blaming everything on being pregnant works really well!!!)

I think it is only natural to worry - I was up all night last night worrying about the scan today!

After the year you have had I am pretty sure it's about time you had some good luck so I am sure everything will be fine!

Good luck for the scan, I really hope it puts your fears at rest.

It's 8 O'clock - is that too early for bed?

Bubbaluv · 24/09/2008 20:12

Oh Lix, I've been there. Such a horrible feeling. Big hugs and best wishes.

Bubbaluv · 24/09/2008 20:15

Had Nuchal Scan today and all is well. Am starting to feel more positive about the idea of DC2 after being rather shocked at first. I was on the mini-pill when I got pregnant, so was rather a surprise!
My OB (who did the scan) also said he's pretty sure it's another boy, so I can cancel my pink frilly shopping plans!
