jearund I think the 2ww means the 2 week wait - it's a thread for ladies trying to conceive (so you have a 2 week wait between ovulating and being able to test to see if you are pg). I think.
Thinking and sending hugs to becaroo and potxola.

jearund · 01/09/2008 20:34

Thanks slinkie - it's been bugging me!

hopefully · 01/09/2008 20:35

Becaroo just wanted to echo everyone else's positive thoughts - even if you've had a couple of weeks of slow/no growth, you're so close to due date that baby is bound to be fairly bonny anyway.

carrieon · 01/09/2008 20:36

OH MY GOODNESS YOU LOT!! I go away for one weekend and return to 15 new pages of posts, and while I'm reading it turns into 16 pages! I told dh I'd only skim read but of course I've read every word . So sorry you had a falling out with October, but glad it got resolved I like you lot

So, in no particular order:

CONGRATS on births.

Crikey on all the leaky waters and discharge.

Fevers don't sound so good...

Had a lovely weekend away with dh. Dd was beautifully behaved for grandma and we had nice dinners, swimming, time together and sleeeeeeeep.

To whoever the very observant person was (sorry, several pages ago) yes, that's still our chosen boy's name, the only thing putting me off it is its popularity! Mind you we're the people who thought we were being 'different' naming our daughter Grace last year and then it was no.1 in the charts.

So glad someone started talking about sex. We tried this weekend for the first time in about 8 months (oops, sorry dh!) and it was indescribably painful for me. Should I be worried? It was a very short lived experience. Given as last time we didn't try til 7 weeks after birth, my sympathies are with dh! I'm also someone who has no sex drive when on the pill, so it doesn't surprise me that I'm not up for it while pg, but the pain was very unexpected. It took about an hour to pass.

THe octopus has shown no signs of letting up in its activity levels. Now that its september, and we've had our weekend away, I just want it out. It has to come before the 15th though, or after the 28th (which is EDD) coz my mum's away in between!

Going to go and update the contact list of people dh and best friend need to call when we have some news to announce

eandz · 01/09/2008 20:37

becaroo
i'm thinking of you and your little one too. whats the plan of action so far, do you know?

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 20:38

I've been trying to work out what 2ww was too, I didn't think it was anything to do with the war but you can never be certain!

Becaroo - I'm really sorry to hear of your news, but I echo what the other ladies have said, you will get through this. You say that it happened before - well at least you know what to expect and some of the things you will have to go through will not come as a complete shock if they happen again. Keep posting, and keep strong.

Hopefully - I have the car tomorrow, I think i'll take a look in H&B and see if there's any clary sage, I'll report back too if I'm there before you!

eandz · 01/09/2008 20:38

haha, i thought it was 2nd world war

mibbes · 01/09/2008 20:42

CRASH for digitalgirl and digiboy ! Another 2ww buddy dropping in ! Congratulations missus, am over the moon for you, can't wait to see some pics . You make the birth sounds so simple

MelT76 · 01/09/2008 20:51

You can buy clary sage oil at H&B and boots. Just checked online and H&B isover £8 but Boots have it half off at the mo £4.69

plusonemore · 01/09/2008 20:53

sassa my ds only uses 'my' instead of 'i' or 'me', I'm not worried he's only 2 and a half!!! HV can be very odd sometimes, after the birth of ds my HV was determined to say I had post natal depression when in actual fact I had never been happier!!

splishsplosh · 01/09/2008 20:55

Congratulations DG and Debi

Sorry Potxola to hear you've had to go back to hospital, but I'm sure you'll be looked after well, and hopefully Lorea will soon be gaining weight

Becaroo - sorry you've had some upsetting news, what are they suggesting doing? At least they're monitoring you and will be prepared for any problems

Carrieon - sounds like you had a lovely break

I went on the labour ward tour today, which made things seem a bit more real (I really must pack properly - just have a few things in a Tesco bag at the moment ). They have 3 pools, every room in ensuite and has balls, beanbags, dimmable lighting and internet/tv/games, and the rooms are quite big. Shame they can't make the beds look a bit more like home though. I'm starting to feel a bit nervous now

meglet · 01/09/2008 20:57

Some HV's are lovely, but quite a few are as mad as bicyles!

The nice one we had last time has moved, I hope the new one is as good.

mumiyumi · 01/09/2008 21:08

Digitalgirl and Debithescot congratulations to you both on your baby boys!!

Potxola Lorea is in the best hands, you'll both be back home soon i'm sure x

Becaroo Thinking of you xx

And regards to sex i'd love to but can't get rid of thrush....i've now had it the whole way through the pregnancy....WHAT A PAIN

barnpot · 01/09/2008 21:20

Eandz has anyone looked into this discharge? like take some swabs etc? try phoning NHS direct, then you can go to mw or consultant with some medical back up. Its crap that they are not taking this seriously.

ninja · 01/09/2008 21:20

Hi carrieon don't know if I should mention this but Fionn (Irish spelling cos of DH) is also top of my list of names!! Also thinking of Aidan.

Saying that I might have a girl

Becaroo hang in there - my daughter was only on the 25th percentile when born and was perfect. I hope everything's OK

carrieon · 01/09/2008 21:20

mumi I've prob said this before but my dd picked up thrush in her mouth in the birth canal last time and I got deep breast thrush from her and it was the most horrendous thing. I ended up expressing her feeds coz I found it less painful than actually feeding her (as I was in control of the 'suck') but in the end totally hated bf and gave it up. And it can be really hard to get the drugs you need coz they're not licensed for people who are bf (even though they're safe) and not many docs have heard of the condition. So I really really hope you get your thrush treated! I'm hoping to get tested for it at my 38wk appt and get a pessary if needed.
Hoping I have a different experience of bf this time, and hope you don't get any problems! (all this based on the assumption that you're going to bf, which of course you might not be wanting to anyway, but its still worth checking out if your little one picks it up in the birth canal in their mouth)

carrieon · 01/09/2008 21:26

ninja I like that spelling too! We have an Irish sounding surname although dh has no idea how long ago there was any true Irish blood in the family, but it would fit nicely. I also might have a girl though! Although dh is totally convinced its a boy.

becaroo · 01/09/2008 21:32

Thank you very much for all your posts....things were going so well, its come as a bit of a shock I suppose.

I have absolutely NO good memories of my ds first few weeks - it was truly awful, but as you say I will cope because I have to. Just feeling very sad and wondering why I am so rubbish at growing healthy babies?...I dont drink, dont smoke, take all the vitamins etc etc

As for what they are doing - I have another scan and doppler booked next monday - how on earth do I sleep til then????

eandz I agree with everyone else (sorry!) I really think you should get your fever checked out especially as it is not nornal for you and you have had some fluid leakage. I am very concerned about infection - you know what a worrier I am! Please phone the labour ward and ask advice...please?...

Poxtola is very much on my mind this evening - I know from experience that it is so heartbreaking to bring your baby home and then find yourself back in hospital with them within 24 hours....hope she is OK.

starlight I have been having serial growth scans due to my ds being born with undiagnosed IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction). He was 4 and a half pounds at term and subsequently had lots of feeding/ health problems.

Looks like tis pregnancy is going the same way, albeit it has been detected this time.

They are concerned because AC growth measurment has basically stopped - baby hasnt grown in at least the last 2 weeks, possibly longer.

My fundal measurement has gone up due to increased fluid again.

eandz · 01/09/2008 21:40

hi guys! don't worry about me i got it sorted. i have antibiotics now. thank you!

barnpot · 01/09/2008 21:41

Biglips did you have the ECV? was it painful?

OP posts:
ninja · 01/09/2008 21:43

Hi mumiyumi I too suffer from Thrush (and carrieon I also got it bf for 3.5 months - ouch I still have the scars to show for it!).

With me the drugs didn't work (long story) I had to go on a detox type diet which got rid of it in a week or 2, I can post it or send it to you if you want. It's pretty severe, but maybe even just cutting out things like bread/mushrooms and sugar should help. It might be worth a try? It worked for my sister too.

Hello again - just skimmed the last 20 pages!
Had lovely convention up in Leicester, although did have to put up with 200 people saying "wouldn't it be cool if you had the baby this weekend!". But very good to see lots of old friends.

Squirmy did loads of wriggling yesterday and the midwife confirmed this morning he's now facing the right way, 4/5 engaged and is ready for launch. He doesn't seem to have read the books that say he's meant to be kicking less now, though. I can't believe I'm going to have a baby in a couple weeks (ish), even when I see what's clearly a leg kicking. I think I've only just gotten used to being pregnant!

Congratulations to those with new arrivals, and best wishes to those with worries.
