Good morning all!

Congrats to those who've had their babies
Sibh - hope Eibhlin is doing ok now.

Well I actually slept last night, and about time! I actually felt quite ill I was so tired yesterday. Anyway, I think I probably got nearly 7 hours sleep last night, which is more than I had in the previous two days. So feeling quite good now. I think I'm going to try and get some serious work done while I still feel ok. SO I think I shall go tackle the kitchen.

Oh Sarah - at dh. No no no nononono. Not good enough. Like PF said, does he normally go out this much??

more bad news here, i have a womb infection .. the swab came back today and i need antibiotics..

my dh has always been one for going out.. tbh he is not very good with newborns was the same with dd1 in fact we nearly separated the last time over it ... he just gets really overwhelmed by it all and in a way i would rather he went out than sit at home miserable... it doesn't do me any good but i am not sure what to do..

it hasn't helped that dd2 has been poorly with her cold for a week and will on sleep whilst on me and dd1 having being so good has now started to say "put Tess back in your tummy i have had enough of her now" .. so testing times ahead...

sazzle good luck with your walk, i can barely manage the shops at the mo..

Sibh sorry to hear about your dd... have a huge bar of irish dairy milk... that would certainly make me feel better!!!!xxx

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 09:31

Sarah -

Don't really know what to say! Just take care of yourself!
It just seems so selfish of him to leave you to deal with a new baby and your DD on your own while you're ill etc. Could he not maybe take DD1 out somewhere for a little while to give you a bit of space at least??

VintageGardenia · 27/08/2008 09:48

Oh my goodness Sibh what a horrible thing to happen, your poor little Eibhlin. A box of Roses on the way to your postman, I think. That reminds me, when I was in hospital I wanted to marry my midwife, or recommend her for canonisation. Since leaving I have completely failed even to send her a thank you card! MUST do that before the weekend. But that's an aside - I hope Eibhlin is totally ok now and not knocked off her stride by being back in hos.

sarah gosh it's hard to deal with errant dh's when you're just so tired. I think sometimes it's also hard to hear other people criticise your dh - but I think next time he says he's off out (unless there's been a reasonable interval since the previous time) you should just say, actually tonight I really need you to take over for a few hours while I get an early night. Hand over baby, crawl into pjs, burrow into duvet. That's a great advantage of formula feeding! I go through Donnybrook almost every day bringing DS to and from school. Actually I went to school in D'brook myself from age 4 to 6 or so. So that will be perfect for coffee etc.

Look at all the lovely photos! poppy and dizzy love yours! What stunners this thread produces. I must put some up myself, been saying that for 3 weeks...

pf I am so hoping things get cracking for you soon. Your blanket must be shredded. Am I remembering rightly that you moved house in the early or mid preggers days? I moved last December - and am now getting cold feet about where we've moved to. Yes, that's right, nine months after the move... do you think this is in ANY way ascribable to hormones or something? Or is it the pure cold light of day... ?

Morning all , DH has taken the boys out for the morning so have peace and quiet and some time to catch up!

Congratulations to warthog, karney & Lcy. Hope you and babies are doing well.

Sibh, sorry to hear about Eibhlín, that must have been a real shock. I hope everything is ok now.

Sarah - that must be rough. I hope that the antibiotics work quickly and that you manage to regain some energy. I second what VG says, you really need to hand everything over and get some sleep sooner rather than later.

TS - thanks for the hugs the other day (made me cry - how hormonal am I?!). I hope Reese is a bit less snotty today

dizzy, I know it has been a little while now but I hope DDs first days at school went well. Can't believe DS is back next week - in class 1! Oh gawd, that means it is September next week... come on baby!

PetitFilou1 · 27/08/2008 10:19

Oh sarah you poor thing re womb infection. I'm sorry but you really need your dh right now and he needs to understand that. I agree with VG it is hard to hear others criticise your dh but really, what exactly would happen if you weren't holding it together? One of you needs to be and since you are actually unwell now, he needs to realise it should be him. Can you get your mil to come over (can't believe I suggested that but sometimes they need their mothers)

Makes me feel bad about whingeing - won't repeat it as have posted on preg board. But more pom poms and cheering please....

ataraxis · 27/08/2008 10:27

pf - hope you are doing ok and not too fed up.

I am currently myth busting... lots of long walks over the last week, lots of pineapples (although tbh not 7 per 24 hrs or I don't think I would ever be able to look at one again), Clarys Sage oil, sex this morning - bless DH , Caulophyllum (hopefully today or tomorrow) and sweep tomorrow am. If that combination doesn't work I think i am turning into an elephant and will fully expect this to go on for another 13 months .

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 10:49

Baby has been quite quiet here the last couple of days. Should I be worried? still getting some movement, but not much. Also very different type o movement. It's only the bout of hiccups I felt this morning that's keeping me from making a call.

sambo303 · 27/08/2008 10:52

Oh no I'm in the waiting room! I cant believe it, I thought this was such a well behaved little baby too - maybe something will happen tonight. Can't face any of the suggested kick start methods apart from large gin and tonic - could be messy as I've been an alcohol free zone for 8 months. Giving birth with a hangover anyone?

MW checked head this morning and it's free, baby floating about like it's got no intention of leaving... she's already talking about induction which I've scared myself silly about by reading lots on the internet. Off for a swim now to take my mind off her comments.

Congrats to all August additions so far.

ataraxis · 27/08/2008 11:10

AnnVan - completely normal for baby to slow down at this point. This LO has hiccups a lot as well (very weird as it is so low down).

sambo - oh the internet... things can just move very quickly when they actually happen. Both of my DSs were born within about 3 days of head engagement (this one has been head engaged for around 3-4 weeks ). Enjoy your swim and I hope things start to move for you.

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 11:57

Sazzles - at last appointment MW said that head was engaged. I feel the hiccups in left groin area, but this seems to be where I've always felt it.
I just need some sign that this will soon be over. Don't think I can handle and extra two weeks if baby decides to go over.

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 11:58

Got to go hang nappies out to dry. I've finally got round to prewashing them.

cyteen · 27/08/2008 12:00

AnnVan my LO has really noticeably slowed as well over the last few days. He still moves every day but they seem much smaller, lighter movements for the most part. I think this is normal when they're getting ready to descend

sarahnh I agree with everything that's been said. While not wanting to criticise your DH, he needs to step up right now.

  • you are not well and need to rest and recuperate
  • Tess is not well and needs more from you, which means you need more support to meet her needs
  • DD1 is obviously feeling unsettled, as any child will when a new sibling arrives

I know newborns are difficult and demanding but he has family responsibilities. Like petitfilou says, what would happen if you just flaked out on yours? Everyone needs to pull together now.

Anyway, I'm sure you already know this so I won't go on about it. Just wishing you all the best and please please take care to REST so that you can get over your womb infection (((hugs)))

VG Funnily enough DP and I are feeling fed up of where we've moved to, although I think in our case it's part of a larger ennui about being in Leicester. We've been here nearly four years now and tbh that's long enough - neither of us feel any attachment to the place even after all this time, so hopefully we'll be moving back down South at some point (not for a few years though). Both of us feel the need to be nearer our families now that we're starting one of our own...

Massive (((hugs))) to all my fellow waiting room sufferers...I am thoroughly fed up today. Had the worst, most painful heartburn EVER last night, my poor oesophagus feels like it's about to burn clean through. Of course said heartburn has made a reappearance this morning. I can't eat or drink anything anymore without being struck down, and all the OTC remedies make me feel sick

Been to see mw this morning and she says that baby's head is more engaged, which is good. She reckons things might kick off in the next few days If not, I'm booked for a sweep on Sunday. This afternoon I shall be mostly pogoing in the lounge - this baby's got to come out sometime, and by god if I can shake him out I will.

ataraxis · 27/08/2008 12:05

cyteen - LOL at the pogoing image!

ataraxis · 27/08/2008 12:21

sazzles - tis a cunning plan to be able to talk with authority about all of these 'natural induction methods'... so that i can just be a big old know it all on forum threads . Think this LO has traits of me as a child and will stubbornly do exactly the opposite of what is asked . I have been talking to her very nicely as well - do you think that will help?
Am very impressed with your activity this morning. Hope the MW signs you off this afternoon.

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 12:21

cyteen lol at pogoing

i know how you feel though. Just the five minutes it took to hang my nappies out was enough for hips to be super painful again heartburn also plaguing the life out of me.
I have mw appointment on Friday, so we'll see what she says. At last appointment she did say something about a sweep on Monday if nothing happens before then
Sorry to sound ignorant, but what exactly does a sweep entail, or should I stay in blissful ignorance??

Thanks all for your words of wisdom and kind thoughts.. i really don't know what i would do without mnet... its so nice to be able to rant freely without taking in anyone in rl's confidence...

tried to talk to dh about things this am but didn't really get anything solved.. to top it off next week is the start of his saturday football season which is fine but now one of the team has organised a friendly for this sat .. told him i wasn't at all impressed but didn't really get a response..

he has however gone to collect my prescription from the docs.. (no alcohol for me for the next five days i was really enjoy my glass of rose every evening to calm myself down!!!!

Massive labour vibes to all those in the waiting room..xxxx

cyteen · 27/08/2008 12:34

Sazz DP's family are in Berkshire, mine are in London along with most of our friends...Leicester has been okay but it's never felt like home and I think now we've realised that it never will. We only moved here because of DP's job rather than out of any holistic desire to be in this particular area, and I also think that everything that's happened has affected how we feel about it - my brother was diagnosed with cancer two months after we moved here, so all of that grimness has coloured our experience somewhat. Things have been such a hard slog over the past few years that we're just feeling the need for a bit more comfort and cushioning in our lives, which being near family and friends does provide

ataraxis · 27/08/2008 13:04

Question for anyone who is expressing - what sort of breast pump are you using? I had a Medela for the earlier 2, but sold it thinking we wouldn't have any more. And how are you finding it?

TwilightSurfer · 27/08/2008 13:11

Sarah I have an idea. Can you hire a sitter for an hour or better yet an EVENING (7pm-7am)? I've actually considered it myself. Sounds like our elder girls are of the same mind. If DD1 isn't threatening to call the police to take the baby away then she's telling me to put it back in my tummy. However this morning I may have made a small break through with her. I'm allowing her to make her own jelly biscuits with the left over biscuits from last night. She even got the jelly from the fridge all by herself.

Thanks for all the warm words regarding Reese's nose. Thankfully all the rain is helping as I can sit with her by the open patio door and indulge in natures own humidifier. She's fine but then moves around and rattles some more.....very frustrating. Hasn't seemed to bother her.

Sazzles amazed at your two miles!! Also nice that your DH took advantage of his paternity leave. Mine is currently involved in a MASSIVE project so feels he can't take the time for fear of project failure. I slightly agree but just wish he would have worked half days this week so DD1 could have gone back to school. Looking forward to my stitch check on Friday so I can get permission to drive again. Feeling has almost completely returned to my inseam area...kinda itches now a little....guess that's the healing process.

Sibh, totally scary situation for you. Reese got choked a little with this nose thing and I about came unglued. These first few weeks are so stressful.

Ladies in waiting, don't worry about the engaged/not engaged thing. DD1 not engaged...labour was flawless once it started. DD2 head engaged for a month....we all know how that story ended. It's all random just like when your labour will start.

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 13:20

Sazzles - erm.... no
Thanks for reminding me though, I really must get my arse in gear and pack the damn thing.

Cyteen I know what you mean about needing to be near family. It's the reason DP and I moved out of London in June. We're now living near his family so we'll have that support. My family live in Scotland.
