First time mums expecting Spring babies

Hello!

I'm expecting my first baby on 24 April. I'm currently only 4+4 but have NO symptoms at all! Have just retested as I'm convinced I've imagined it!

Went to Dr yesterday to share the news and have to wait for hospital 'choose & book' paperwork so that I can arrange first scan for around 10 October.

There seems to be so many decisions to make all of a sudden...

Anyway...just wondered how you other first timers were finding things...or your other halves for that matter. Mine is still in total shock in spite of this being a planned baby!

Afternoon Springmums

Skiingone Sounds like a fairly traumatic time but am impressed with how you seem to have taken it all in your stride and glad things are settling down for you and Marianna. All advice about what they need welcome for the rest of us first timers.

Bicnod Your break sounds lovely and know what you mean about having to get out of the house in order to get away from all the preperations. Waiting for a baby is like there is an elephant in the room and I don't mean me!

Choceclair Bit scary when things start feeling real isn't it. I am having my first real taste of Braxton Hicks today I think bought on by DP and I clearing out under our bed and cleaning bedroom windows. Doesn't feel like the real thing - but then how the hell would I know!?

Elpis Let us know how your OH gets on at the BF workshop - sounds like it's worth taking them along, mind you DP missed a home football game to come to NCT on Tues so looks like he's on board with coming to all of them.

Have updated list as never put myself on it as well. Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Hi Springmums

Just wanted to check that the Kingston meet-up is going ahead at 2pm - I am going out now but will be back by 12.30 or so to check the forum, if people are still planning to go can you let me know?

Hope to see you later

Littleduck

Bicnod · 15/03/2009 10:26

Hi littleduck - I'm still planning to be there

2pm outside Starbucks inside the Bentalls Centre (not sure which floor its on - think it's the ground floor).

Looking forward to meeting you (and anyone else who can make it along...)

I'll be wearing a black jumper and a stripy scarf around my neck for ease of recognition. Oh, and I'm 33+6 weeks pregnant

x

littleduck · 15/03/2009 12:47

Hi Bicnod

Cool - see you there at 2pm. Will be wearing a pale blue wrap top and jeans, accessorised by large bump!

x

teeheelaydee · 15/03/2009 16:49

Expect you are all chatting away and comparing bumps by now - hope you are having a lovely time!

BrightSideOfLife · 16/03/2009 11:41

Sorry! I come to grovel for missing the catch-up yesterday. I completely underestimated the Rugby Traffic in Twickenham. (We live near the stadium) I popped out to drop something off at friends, and left in the morning (hoping to miss the traffic) but got stuck and only got back home at 13:30! By which time the idea of getting back in the car to Kingston was just too much for my poor frazzled self!

Did you have fun?

Hello everyone else!

mizzannie · 16/03/2009 14:19

hi all
how lovely is this weather! perfect for spring babies. congrats to skiinggone... marianna is a beautiful name. hope you are enjoying your first few weeks of motherhood. have just had my last gp appt, apparently am 2/5 engaged and the baby is in the right position. seems like the head i was feeling is actually a bum, which is a good thing. head is firmly down!
hope you all had a good meet up in starbucks. anyone live nr kensal rise?

ChocEclair · 16/03/2009 16:54

Hi girls - sigh - 38 + 2

Mizzannie - I wish my baby's head was 2/5 engaged! I'm sooooooooo fed up! I am getting quite a few twinges and baby is hiccuping loads but I just want things to get strted now!

I am bouncing like billio on my birthing ball and doing lots of walking. Might try some curry tomorrow!

I agree the weather is PERFECT for having babies! Would be lovely to have a little walk in the palk with a pram rather than this enormous bump!

Wondering where daisyj has gone to - she has the same EDD as me. Maybe she's had it!

Hope you are all ok - did you have fun at your London meet up? I bet you couldn't miss each other! lol!

Bicnod · 18/03/2009 21:18

Hello girlies It was a small party of two at the Kingston meet up - just me and littleduck made it in the end - was lovely to meet up and have all the same chats we have on here in person... we should definitely do another one soon.

Brightside sounds like you had a nightmare on sunday... hopefully you'll make it to the next one (either with bump or babe!)

I've been having strong braxton hicks (I didn't realise that's what they were), period type pains and shooting pains for the past few days... and bump seems to have dropped a bit. Fingers crossed this means things are moving along but fingers double crossed that baby stays put for a few more weeks (only 34+2).

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine

x x

teeheelaydee · 19/03/2009 20:34

37+5 here today - saw mw yesterday and all well - baby has moved, thank goodness and was in a posterior position which stand in mw kindly informed me would mean a long and painful labour - cheers!!

ChocEclair have sex, eat pineapple, raspberry leaf tea - apparently

Bicnod I was about 34 weeks when baby moved down and started getting discomfort in pelvis and mild Braxtons and mine hasn't made an appearance yet. Freaky when things change though - just when you get used to one set of symptoms - they change on you!

Officially the first day of Spring tomorrow - there 's no turning back now!

daisyj · 23/03/2009 09:57

Hi everyone. It's been about 2 months since I posted. Only started ML a week ago and work was just relentless before that. Had enough energy to work, post on a couple of other threads about once a fortnight, and left DH to do everything else. He's been amazing, looking after the house and me...

Anyway, glad everyone is thriving, and HUGE congratulations to lolianja and skiingone - what amazing birth stories. So exciting!

So, less than a week to go here, like choceclair. We're booked in for a home birth now, and I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be (not at all, in other words), and excited about meeting baby Bo. I'm feeling alternately relaxed and really irritable, which I'm sure is normal. Feeling a bit crampy this morning, so off to have a bath...

teehee - Yum, pineapple, I'd forgotten about that .

xx to all.

skiingone · 23/03/2009 13:17

Hello girls!
Hope everyone is fine!
lolanja - CONGRATULATIONS! I missed your BA at first but now have read it and it's amazing! Well done!

I have posted some of Marianna's progress pics on the profile.

Hugs to all - got to go change and breatfeed

lara27 · 23/03/2009 22:57

Hi everyone, I'm new - only just started my ML and haven't had time before to really look at this! Do you mind me joining in?

I'm due 17 Apr, 36+3 at the moment - all starting to get a bit scary!

teeheelaydee · 24/03/2009 15:23

Aaah Skiingone She has changed so much since she was born and is looking really well. Well done you.

Daisy know what you mean about scared/excited and impatient.

Welcome Lara - What plans for you ML - anything nice.

My friend is starting up a beauty business and has asked if I want to go see her before baby comes to have a manicure and pedicure as a guinea pig --- errrr - yes please!!

Very quiet in here last few days - does that mean some of us are/have giving/given birth.

Bicnod · 24/03/2009 18:55

Evening ladies... only 3 days left at work before maternity leave starts... woo hoo!! I am soooooo ready for it... 1 hour 20 minutes commute each way is NOT fun at 8 months pregnant...

Hi Lara and welcome - where are you having your little one?

Can't wait to hear who is next to pop

lara27 · 25/03/2009 13:42

I'm having it (don't know if its a boy or girl) at Lewisham hospital (assuming they don't close the ward - at the antenatal classes we were assured that it only happens every couple of months...!)

no particular plans for ML except sort everything out that I haven't had time to do yet! Lots of shopping called for

Bicnod that commute sounds awful, I was struggling with 30mins by the end - not long for you to go now though!

daisyj · 25/03/2009 19:58

Hi lara - I'm Lewisham too, but hoping for a home birth in the next few days.

There's a great thread for local mums and mums to be here:

Ante-natal clubs : Calling all pregnant ladies in Blackheath/Manor Park/Lew

Sorry, I'm rubbish at doing links, but that's the thread title. People are meeting up at The Railway in Blackheath next Wednesday, if you fancy it. Everyone's really lovely - you should go and introduce yourself. Enjoy your ML - I'm having a great time eating and watching DVDs

ChocEclair · 25/03/2009 20:00

Hi ladies

welcome to Lara - do you feel ready for being a Mummy yet?

skiingone - awwww Marianna is just gorgeous! And yes, she has changed sooooo much already!

39+4 here and getting quite a few twinges, plus bump seems lower so feeling a bit hopeful! I think Daisyj and I are in a race to be the next to pop!

I'm booked in to see the mw on Monday if no baby for a "stretch and sweep" yuck! Not looking forward to that much, so kind of hoping things happen before then!

Hope all the bumps and Mums are well!

daisyj · 25/03/2009 20:04

Gosh, CE, I thought they usually waited a bit longer after due date for that. Hope we can both avoid being stretched and swept. I don't fancy it. Bo's dancing madly today, and same as you on the 'lower with twinges' front. I hope it's not just wishful thinking! Am staring at our inflated birthing pool hoping it might have some kind of effect!

littleduck · 25/03/2009 22:02

Hi Springmums

Hope everyone's well. Sorry been a bit quiet - getting home from work quite tired now and had horrid cold last week so spent evenings on sofa or in bed feeling rather sorry for myself!

Had lovely coffee and natter with Bicnod the other Sunday in Kingston, we should arrange another Kingston get together when all our babies have arrived! Bicnod - hope you're well and thinking of you, bet you can't wait to stop working and have a rest!

Hi to Daisyj and Choceclair, hope all is going well with you and that your little ones arrive without you having to be stretched and swept. Do let us know.

Lara - hi and welcome!

Teehee - your manicure and pedicure sound lovely, what a treat, hope you enjoyed.

Feeling uncomfortable last couple of days - lower back getting rather sore on left hand side and quite a bit of pressure/kicking under ribs on right side. Have been very lucky with feeling pretty well throughout pregnancy so far so really shouldn't complain! Can't wait to start mat leave next Friday, I'm very ready for a sofa and lots of crap telly.

Take care all and hello to anyone I've missed.

littleduck xx

lara27 · 26/03/2009 10:40

Thanks for the info daisyj I'll check that out as we only moved to the area last year so don't really know anyone around here yet! Fingers crossed the home birth goes well for you.

Not sure I do feel ready to be a mummy yet! Really looking forward to it but a bit nervous as well!

Hope all goes well choceclair and you don't have to have the stretch and sweep - that sounds horrid!

Right best get on and do some housework as my mum is arriving to stay for a few days today - it's her first grandchild and she doesn't quite believe its happening so has insisted on coming to check out my bump! She lives quite far away so haven't seen her for a few months - she'll have a shock!

evs34 · 26/03/2009 11:24

hope your all well. i am getting a bit bored now and desperate to meet my baby. due in 2 weeks and mwife booked me in for a stretch and sweep at next app - which will be 40 weeks. let us know how it goes daisy and CE.

not much else to report. might go and do some house work to encourage her head to engage as still ' flapping in the wind' according to mwife - they do say some helpful things dont they!

all the best. evs xx

daisyj · 26/03/2009 12:47

lol at 'flapping in the wind' . Is that a technical term...?

ChocEclair · 26/03/2009 20:03

pmsl at flapping in the wind!
I have the same problem though - mw said head the head was most likely on the wrong angle to fit into the pelvis. I know what you mean evs about feeling bored and desperate to meet baby!

Went out for drive today - DP drove over every pot hole/drain/speedbump going to see if we could start something off! Lots of period type pains - [hopeful emoticon!]

Feeling quite jealous of daisy's pool!

girlylala0807 · 26/03/2009 21:24
