monkey - cute bump. Still got abs of steel!

vbab78 · 19/08/2008 14:47

heartmum - WOW! Organised what's that?! I was 29 wks yesterday and haven't even got the nursery plastered never mind decorated or organised. Haven't bought anything except the buggy. At least DS new room is now finished and he will be moving into it at the end of the week then the nursery can be plastered.

Just want to start get organised and buy stuff!!

ChocOrange05 · 19/08/2008 14:47

Heartmum I can't believe you are already thinking about cooking to store up food!! I am scared / impressed!

I am 29+3 today and that hadn't even crossed my mind!

LOL Vbab! I don't have anything else to really organise as baby won't have his own room, everything he has or will use is either his brothers or passed down and the clothes are from ebay or freecycle with just 1 or 2 bits bought new. I have been picking up pre-loved cloth nappies to try out over the last few months. The one thing I want that still don't have is a sling, but I am completwely bamboozled by them all and have no real idea what kind I want. So, the one thing I can dedicate my time to right now is cooking, or at least getting a list of recipies together so I can cook up a storm at about 35-36 weeks.

Oblomov · 19/08/2008 14:55

God Heartmum.
I will/plan to cook similar - I make a great lasagne, shepherds pie and curry. That should last dh and ds the week that I am away.

Did I tell you that my lovely sil (no not the mc one, or the one whose son currently has our COTBED) - no seriously, they are all lovely - but the other one - she is fabarooney - she is coming to stay the week I am in hospital - to spend some time with dh, help out take ds to school.
I am well pleased.

Hi am back and pleased to say MW was extremely nice and explained everything to me so am not as concerned now. The problem is due to the job I have I know too much (but obv not enough to always allay my own fears!). I have dealt with a few cases and heard some stories recently which freaked me out a bit. Basically I have Multiple Sclerosis and it rarely bothers me and I was fine when PG with DS.

However a girl I know also has the condition and has had to be closely monitored/scanned during her current PG and they found the baby has reduced oxygen flow... I just started to panic as the other stories I'd heard were oxygen related and thought how would you know? Am I more at risk due to M.S. (as she also has it)????

Anyway the MW assured me that I would notice reduced movements first of all so if that was to happen she gave me the number to call and they would check it out with monitor. At mo baby is very active so am not worried but at least I know where to go if it stops. She didn't know if this was something people with M.S. were more prone to but is going to check it out with consultant. Thanks for the concern I realised as I typed last message that it was really affecting me!

Anyway back to everyone else, AutumLady WOW that is amazing news!! So pleased for you (BTW Nobody on here is going to be critical of this at all, that other thread was not related to her decision as such, it was more her attitude and inability to accept the well meaning advice she was given without getting arsey that understandably got people's backs up). But back to you, that is brilliant and yes the months are flying in!!

MonkeyM what a stunner you are!! And your bump is sooo neat!

Sorry again for such a long post, wish I was closer for the October meet up am sure you will have a great time!!

Oblomov · 19/08/2008 14:58

Heartmum, Hana is our sling guru, after going to the roadshow. I have bought one. And a pump. Nothing else.

Tell us what sling you want/why you want it and we will help.

For e.g. I don't like the ones that look like a backpack. I wanted ds across my ample norks
I wanted to breast feed him. I wanted to carry him upon birth, but not worried at aged 2. Thats why I enede up with my ring sling. Tell us what you want it for.

cricri · 19/08/2008 15:01

Sparkle Hope your mw appt went well and you were reassured.
Autumnlady Glad you got your elcs sorted out - I know you were very concerned about that. And how nice to know exactly when your baby will be born Not long to go now though
Chocorange I'm 29+3 today too - it will be a race to the finish for the two of us I think there are a couple of others due 1 November too...
Monkeymargot That's a lovely neat bump!
Heartmum I'm impressed with your planning! I can't think of anything to add to your list though - casseroles have endless possibilities (bean, sausage, chicken etc - if you're not vegetarian that is). Different types of stew maybe? That freezes quite well.
Oblomov I also think you should get your cot back. DH and I have been given loads of stuff for this baby and I would give it all back immediately when/if the people concerned go on to have their 2nd DC. I'm keeping a careful note of who has given us what.
My Amby nest arrived today I can have fun trying to put that together later!

sparkletoes · 19/08/2008 15:03

Heartmum wow! I planned to start stockpiling meals on my due date last time as I thought that would be a good distraction to the fact I was convinced he would be about 2 weeks overdue. Of course he ended up coming on that day so oops no meals in freezer! Will try to do some this time around but figure haey we managed last time!

I am also on look out for a sling and Hana gave very good run down after her show visit (it was at end July if you want to find it). Ring slings is on shortlist for same reason as Obs.

I can also do nothing about a nursery til after next Mon but that is a whole other story!!

Oblomov · 19/08/2008 15:04

Yeah MonkeyM, you are so glam. You will have to tone down your attractiveness, to be welcome on this thread, ya know

vbab78 · 19/08/2008 15:08

autumnlady - Glad you got the birth choice you wanted. WOW would love to have the date set in stone like that. What if baby comes before the date would they still do the CS?

I just have this thing in my head that I really dont want a CS, unless necessary, but at the same time it definitely has its advantages.

Heartmum2Jamie · 19/08/2008 15:34

Oblomov I pretty much want exactly the same thing from a sling as you. I want to use it from birth, breastfeed with it as I hope to wear it around the house alot, but equally I want to be able to alternate and put ds2 in it if I need to. He weighs about 31-32lb at 4.2 years. I was torn between a ring sling and a wrap type sling (have ellaroo type woven fabric upstairs that I have used as a sling when ds2 was about 18 months. I am not very tall, 5ft 1in, about 9st pre-pregnancy and I think my shoulder to hip bone measurment is 23in (from memory when I was about 3 months. It's hard to measure with a big bump at the front!)

AutumnLady · 19/08/2008 15:34

Awww, thanks everyone for being so nice It's been a really stressful time recently and this is my first bit of positive news (other than my lovely bump!) and really wanted to share it with you all.

Vbab - if I go into labour earlier than that then they just have to phone him and he'll come do the cs or, if that's not possible, someone else can do it. I have to be open to the option of natural birth if I go into labour but my pain relief options are incredibly small at that point. My EDD was 9th November so it's not that early to have my little boy

ChocOrange CriCri Oblomov Sparkle Monkey and anyone else I forget - thanks for your support too. Can't wait to meet you all at the London get together in Oct!!

Sorry this was so long & rambling!
xx

MummyAnnabella · 19/08/2008 15:35

havent had chance to post for a bit but still pop in to check on posts tho v hard to keep up!

off to see consultant soon and hoping to get date for my c/s. had classical c/s with ds and hve to have repeat classical c/s with this one. last one was emerg at 33 weeks as went into prem labour so think my date will be 38 weeks at latest - i could well have 1st due nov baby as due on 1st but now looking like mid oct!!

MonkeyMargot · 19/08/2008 15:44

Heartmum - Delia's Boeuf Bourguignon (from her classic/original book) is really easy and delish with mash/tagliatelle or baked spuds. I will be making a vast quantity nearer the time and freezing in portions.
Also, Anthony Worrall-Thompson's lamb tagine (you can google it) is fab and freezes really well. Again, you can serve with cous-cous, rice, baked spuds.
Thanks to all for your lovely bump comments . As for the "glamour" element, that will go to sh*t once sproglet is born (indeed, I'm almost there now).
Sparkle - glad you're feeling better about things after talking to the MW. I feel lucky not to have any complications, and feel for all of you who do [sad}. As if being up the spout isn't enough to contend with.

ChocOrange05 · 19/08/2008 15:48

Dozy do we have a meet up point for October yet? Have recollections that you suggested somewhere for afternoon tea. Mmm - as long as they do cream tea i'll be happy!

OP posts:
Heartmum2Jamie · 19/08/2008 15:48

Thanks MonkeyM! I love tagine, so will be looking that recipe up. Mmmmmm, mash!!! I haven't had mash since my first trimester when that is pretty much what i lived on, lol!

As for your belly pic, I just had a look and you look fabulous and I don't mean just your bump! Talk about yummy mummy!

Oblomov · 19/08/2008 15:55

Heart2mum, I think you might need Hana's advice on how to combine newborn and sling for ds2(4.2)
But I am also small, 5'1'' and a half - that hal;f is very important - I lie and tell people I am 5' 2''. And I weigh about 9.5 pre pg. So I am similar size.
I so hope that the sling I bought is good and comfy. Becasue I can't afford to keep changing them and end up with 10 un-used slings.
And I was totally bamboozled initially - see my posts on previous AN threads.

MonkeyM, your meals to freeze sound delish and just the kind of thing we like - I will investigate. I don't plan to start cooking / stocking just yet, but will do it soon.

MonkeyMargot · 19/08/2008 15:56

aah - thanks Heartmum ! . Got a feeling I'm going to be more of a slummy mummy....
Choc and Dozy - really looking forward to the meetup!

ceebee74 · 19/08/2008 15:57

Monkey - have to agree with all the other comments about how fab you look! I am so unphotogenic that photos of me are few and far between - I wish I looked like you

Sparkle - glad the appointment went well and you are feeling a bit better about things now. Sorry about the MS but I guess as long as the medical staff are aware, they can keep an eye on it.

Can't help on the sling discussion as I am not a 'sling person' - or at least I wasn't with DS but who knows what this little boy will be like!

Autumn - so glad your consultant provided you with the answers you wanted - am also slightly as I still haven't made my mind up about what to do - like Smiles, my reasons for wanting an elcs are mainly practical ones such as planning childcare for DS etc, rather than medical ones like yours, so I am not sure they are good enough to go through a major operation (btw, the recovery really isn't that bad).

MonkeyMargot · 19/08/2008 15:58

Oblomov and Heartmum - here's the link to the lamb tagine recipe. Looks like a lot if ingredients but very easy to make. yummmmm.....!
www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/moroccanlambtagine_6696.shtml

MonkeyMargot · 19/08/2008 16:00

Thank you ceebee. I'm going to get a big head!

AutumnLady · 19/08/2008 16:05

Thanks ceebee - I knew all of you would be understanding! I can totally see why people with more than one dd/ds think about having a cs and, if I'm honest, I do agree to a certain extent that it makes life easier on the planning of childcare etc. I'm all for it being the choice of the mother and as long as they are not doing it purely for cosmetic reasons then I have no issue. It's more important that mum and baby are happy and healthy IMO.

xx

vbab78 · 19/08/2008 16:05

Shall me start a Nov 08 Recipes and Suggestions thread?

MonkeyMargot · 19/08/2008 16:12
