LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 18:21

Ladybuzz....palpitations coupled with breathlessness could be down to iron deficiency or thyroid issues (although can be down to just being pregnant). I would make a GP appointment if you aren't due to see your MW for a few weeks. I get palpitations on and off, but all my bloods came back normal. It's quite scary when it happens though isn't it? {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}.

Vbab, that's lovely on the Mothercare vouchers....over a third of the price of a birth to potty pack of Bumgenius . I would also be a bit about the DVD, but it's a nice thought as they have obviously noticed the fact that you were going to the gym till quite recently. Enjoy your maternity leave

heartmum....I'm impressed with the nesting. I'm still waiting for the nesting from my pregnacy with DD to kick in

MerryMarigold · 29/08/2008 18:23

I DO FEEL like nesting, though heartmum. Just no energy. I have already got too large to do anything. Just wondering if I can talk doctor into prescribing bed rest . Like the thought of 'tickling' with the housework - if only! I haven't done my oven for a year! I did wipe out the dt's drawers with a damp cloth though before putting stuff in there. so I'm not a total slut.

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 18:25

and merryM, whatever our biodies are doing to make us feel rubbish; yours is working doubly hard so don't feel bad for not getting the things done on your list (your babies won't notice after all ) and rest up as much as you need to.

DH keeps telling me that virgil won't care that our living room and hall aren't decorated.........and he's right; no, he won't, BUT I BLOODY WELL WILL

MerryMarigold · 29/08/2008 18:40

Thanks lacka. I know the twins won't care about the oven! Advantage of twins: have talked dh into a cleaner (even though can't afford it, but never mind), so maybe she can start early and do some of the 'deep cleaning'.

Can't believe how much harder it is this time round, but then again, I have a 2 year old and a 3 bedroom house rather than no kids and a 1 bed flat. Makes a big difference! Luckily I am just unwieldy and tired from lugging 25 kilos around (that's more weight allowance than a lot of airlines!). Haven't really had any problems like poor people with SPD and ladybuzz's palpitations, so all in all it's been good. Really feel for you properly ill people.

Heartmum, I actually have nesting daydreams . I paid an unemployed friend to come round and help out with my room last week. It's not finished, but it's a start.

Dozymare · 29/08/2008 18:48

am very very impressed with nesting instincts - Like Lacks, |i am still waiting for it to kick in from DS 5 years ago! I am very very good at delegating though!!!!!!

Merry - you are amazing, how you are coping is beyond me, nothi9ng but admiration for you!

ladiesforafternoontea still not heard abck from the hotel in knightsbridge as lady who i need to speak to is away.....shall we look at other options although i really liked the idea of a private area. That way we won't get odd looks when we are calling each other by our MN names!!!!!!!!

AUTUMNLADY ARE YOU OK????? EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT, AM WORRYING.....

what is everyone eating tonight - i need inspiration....

Heartmum2Jamie · 29/08/2008 18:48

Ohhh, I would LOVE a cleaner!! I would probably be terrible and clean up before the cleaner got here

Something else to add to my list of accomplishments......I made a banana loaf! Tesco cocked up my home delivery last week and instead of sending me 4 loose banana's, they sent 20 . I still have 9 banana's left, but no eggs or sugar. I suppose if I get some tomorrow, I can make some loaves to freeze.

I am lol at Lacks saying that the baby won't know if you haven't decorated. It just reminds me that I painted every room in the house at 8 months pregnant with both my other pregnancies, lol! I was eyeing up the fence panels yesterday, they need treating before winter.........

Heartmum2Jamie · 29/08/2008 18:49

No inspiration here I'm afriad Dozy, I had cheesy beans on toast. Saving room for my banana loaf!

mum2becks · 29/08/2008 19:06

dozy nothing exciting here either i'm afraid we are having pasta, but I am really enjoying potato waffles at the minute with melted cheese on them so I could be having that too??

Dozymare · 29/08/2008 19:06

heartmumtojamie make Brazilian Bananas....so easy and so so so so yummy...(in fact, I want that for super now)

This is a very easy recipe and always goes down a treat - cream is best whipped until it can be forked over final mixture. Preparation time 20 mins plus chilling time 2 Hrs plus

Ingredients
6 Large Bananas
1 tsp Coffee
2 tsp Boiling Water
2 tbs Demerara Sugar
Large Carton Double Cream
1 tbs Rum or Brandy or Rum Essence
Method
Add the boiling water to the coffee and dissolve - leave to cool.
Peel and Slice Bananas into large glass serving bowl
Mix bananas around with 1 tbs demerara
Whip up cream until light and fluffy
Add half of cream to coffee mixture and spread over bananas
Add remaining demerara sugar/rum and mix
Add remaining cream and spread over banana mixture with fork until
all is covered.
Chill in fridge for a couple of hours

put kids to bed, get rid of DH and sit down and enjoy!!!!

Dozymare · 29/08/2008 19:07

DM is now shuffling off looking for ingredients for Brazilian Bananas.....kids love it as well!

mum2becks · 29/08/2008 19:11

wow that sounds delicious!!! pity I dont have any bananas in the house, looks like I will be going shopping tomorrow

LackaDAISYcal · 29/08/2008 19:36

GF lasagne and salad here.

Have been really weepy and miserable this afternoon and evening, but only realised when I was getting the DCs tea ready that the only thing I've eaten since yesterday lunchtime, apart from some American hard gums, was two bowls of cereal and a bit of grated cheese. Hopefully some proper food will make me feel a bit cheerier.

Hadn't noticed that AL hadn't been around . I hope things are OK.

MonkeyMargot · 29/08/2008 20:07

Heartmum - another great dessert with ripe bananas is flambee bananas. You slice up your bananas (1-2 per person) and melt a large knob of butter in a frying pan. Throw in the nanas, add a tablespoon or two of brown sugar, stir until sugar melts, then add large slug of RUM and set alight with a match - check out the blue flames - once the flames go out, serve nanas in a bowl with cream/icecream or creme fraiche.
YUM!!!!!!

coolkat · 29/08/2008 20:55

Merry, sounds to me like you are doing amazing, your bodies working harder than mine regardless of SPD.

Heartmum at your nesting, I want to but am not physically able. Decided tomorrow going to do the babie sleepsuit wash so they can be dried and be ironed by mil.

Thanks for your kind words yest, I am feeling a lot better today and was not stuck in bed Dozy in answer to questions I have crutches and seen Physio. The doc prescribed codiene Phosphate? I am a little anxious about taking them, am taking it as easy as possible this weekend so hopefully be ok to work monday on the understanding I am not running around.

Mum took me to asda today as paranoid about not having any PJ's for hosp. Got two pairs (dark bottoms) am wearing one pair now!!! I have 2 BF nighties but prefer PJ's. Also wanted some sleepsuits but they had no 0-3. I could only buy unisex when she was with me as they do not know we are having a girl! Anyway just got some of ebay, its wierd with DD never dared buy 2nd hand but now you realise how little you use stuff its daft not to.

LadyBuzz · 29/08/2008 21:16

Thanks Lacks I am at the MW this week so I will mention it to her unless it happens again before then.
Merry I am very impressed with you my friend had twins and a toddler so I know from her how hard it was carrying them. You deserve a medal.
I'm not nesting either and I didn't with DS i'd rather sleep
Glad you are feeling better coolkat

MerryMarigold · 30/08/2008 10:07

AL was around a couple of days ago, and said things were a bit better with dh (and confessed to ironing a shirt!!)...sorry, can't remember exactly which day.

I just bought my Moltex disposables online. £7.43 for 48 if you buy 3 packs. Advice on twins thread was to wait a couple of months (when feeding/ sleeping is a bit more established) before moving onto the 'real nappies'. I confess I am TOTALLY overwhelmed by the choice. I spent an hour at 4am 'researching'. A friend of mine has offered some she never used (and received from a friend who never used them either!), so maybe will try them out first.

Hope you all have nice Saturdays. It looks like good weather - nice to see the sun for a change .

ruthosaurus · 30/08/2008 13:55

£743 for 48? That IS a good deal!

Loving the banana recipes - I made flapjacks for the first time since home economics at school last night as I wanted a biscuit and didn't want to drive to the shop jsut for some hobnobs... BIL, who is a trained pastry chef, was visiting, so of course I burned the first batch and had to start all over again, but the second batch was delish if a bit crunchy. Anyone got a recipe for flapjacks that reliably produces moist flapjacks?

I can do curry but I reliably burn all cakes, buns and biscuits and feel that I ought to be better at it if I'm going to do this mum thing.

MerryMarigold · 30/08/2008 15:44

important addition to hospital bag (just written my list) - CAMERA

hee hee ruthosaurus. actually it is true you can suddenly bake when you have a child! i have become famous for choc cake and it's only since ds turned about 1. now everyone wants me to bake them cakes for their birthdays, it's a bit annoying tbh! I had a lovely recipe for flapjacks from home ec. but it's disappeared (oats, marg, golden syrup). I 'created' some diabetic ones the other day with pureed mango instead of sugar. They were yuck and tasteless, but quite moist. I think some of the secret is not to make them too thin (was the baking tray the right size for the recipe? If you don't have a small one, just double the contents). If you want to make them a bit more decadent, slice a mars bar up and put it on the top. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 20:40

Camera is DH's department here. It's the only thing he needs to remember.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/08/2008 20:43

oooh, liking the sound of mars bars flapjacks . I usually double the quants of butter and golden syrup but leave the oats the same.....lovely, gooey, sticky, Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

DD and I are baking tomorrow then

I use muesli in my flapjacks as well sometimes, although not if making them for me; I need to stick with oats alone.

Oblomov · 30/08/2008 23:18

Hi guys.
MerryMarigold, have sent you message on facebook, re diabetes.
Sling wise, I bought a padded freedom sling sling
Haven't tried it yet. But seems fine to set it up, loosen it, get baby in, without re-tying/ threading material through ring it every time. I couldn't be doing with that kind of ker-fuffle !!!!

Hi to everyone else.

Went to Kings on fri for 28 week scan and anti d. Both fine. Baby fine. Anti d injection didn't hurt. Someone said it did. Who was that ? I didn't think it was that bad. Stung a tiny bit. But then I am good with injections. Good job too - after 30 years of them !!!

How is coolkat ? Sorry I posted, forgetting that she was in pain becasue of SPD. God I feel so sorry for anyone having SPD. Makes my diabetes look like a walk in the park.

My sil and ds's 2 cousins (he has over 20 cousins !!) is coming to lunch tomorrow. The house is spotless. And all gardening has been done. My nesting hasn't kicked in. But I have still worked very hard in making things nice, in the last week.
I am having a massage on monday. I think I hurt my neck when I had a hypo the other weekend.
Then back to Kings on tues.

What is everyone else up to ?

Beaches · 31/08/2008 01:22

Hi everyone, I am a newbie!! Due 3 Nov, quite a hard pregnancy so far, hoping the last stretch will be the most enjoyable! Loving the nesting instinct at the mo but convinced I have devoloped super powers in the nostril dept! I swear I can smell every last lingering odour... Sometimes not such a blessing! This is my second child and I am hoping that everyone is telling the truth when they say it is much easier to deliver second time around...

LadyBuzz · 31/08/2008 09:44

Welcome Beaches hope things get better for you soon.
Oblomov it was me that said Anti d hurts and it does, I hate it! they inject it into your hips here and it is awful - I am a big puff with needles though noone else I know makes such a fuss so in that case it is probably just me
Hope everyone esle is having a good weekend
Merry them flapjacks sound lovely!

MerryMarigold · 31/08/2008 11:44

Ladybuzz, i assume you don't mean the mango puree ones! .

Thanks obs, have responded on FB. I saw that sling on ebay and looked good, but just wasn't sure if you had to thread through the ring bit every time, doesn't sound like it from web.

Welcome beaches, your name makes me not want to live in this godforsaken, grey, dark country anymore!

ceebee74 · 31/08/2008 12:42

Morning - it has been very quiet on here this weekend!

Welcome Beaches - sorry your pg has been hard but, hey, we are nearly there now

Merry - I think the 'baking' gene definitely passed me by, even since becoming a mum! I think I have only baked once since DS was born and that was the MN famous lemon drizzle cake - which was absolutely delicious btw.

Agree with Ladybuzz aswell - I didn't 'nest' with DS and don't appear to be doing with this baby either - I much prefer to sleep/slob in front of the telly

Spent the day at my parents yesterday - went over with my sis and her 3 children as my bro and gf were there with their 8-month old (they live 3 hours away so don't see them very often). My mum was so to have all her grandchildren in one place plus DS was so good with the baby, even when I was cuddling him, he wasn't jealous or bothered...obviously it might be a different story when the baby in question is in our house 24 hours a day

Vbab - was thinking yesterday that when this baby is born, and if I go to stay at parents for more than one day, we could meet up if you were interested? (assuming I am right in thinking you live in South Yorks?) It would be good as our DS's would have someone to play with while we do baby talk

Anyway, must go and have a shower after aerobics this morning - still feel ok doing it so am going to carry on for a while longer yet I think.
