Good lord, Spotty! I've been in maternity wear for a good six weeks already!!! (I'm getting big fast, but it's also because I just can't bear anything tight around my tummy). A friend saw me the other day having not encountered each other for over a month, and he did that look where someone looks at your face, then looks at your large pregnant belly, the looks at your face again with eyebrows somewhere up in their receding hairline... I'm thinking of having a t-shirt made with the slogan "No it's not twins. Now just f**k off".

LOL!

In my defense I'm only just past 12 weeks! My bump is smaller in the mornings and these were a size bigger than normal so I thought I'd be ok - obviously not as as soon as I had a bite to eat it sprang out! I am in Mat trs most of the time and have been since 10 weeks

MarkStretch · 17/08/2008 19:23

I have been in mat clothes for ages too! I honestly feel huge! I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

By the way I made the apple crumble I had been craving, cooked it yesterday and left it in the fridge to have after dinner tonight.

DH came home pissed from football yesterday and whilst I slumbered upstairs HE ATE HALF OF IT.

I got up this morning, opened the fridge and it had been ATTACKED. An empty can of squirty cream was lying on the side.

Does he not know you should never take food from a pregnant woman?!?!

spottyshoes · 17/08/2008 19:54

Sounds like my DH. Only happens to desserts though

chilledmama · 17/08/2008 20:24

hello all...can't believe we're on the 4th thread!

Got my nuchal scan tomorrow, fingers crossed that expanding waistline is not a practical joke by nature!!!

How is everyone???

nkweto · 17/08/2008 20:36

Fingers crossed for you chilled mama.. I have just bought my maternity clothes after seen some photos of myself this weekend.. I am bigger than I thought I was LOL, I look 5/6 months! no wonder people have been offering me seats on the bus and tube.. Markstretch I will be off to buy the said concealer tomorrow.. my back and face are just covered with spots.. have been covering myself in aloe vera.. which seems to have some effect.. updating my details and due date.

Hello everyone, I hope you had lovely weekends. I am really an emotional wreck too ? elated one second and then totally morose and crying the next. My poor DH.

No-one is getting up for me on the tube ? this morning I had to get off every couple of stops and put head in lap to stop from passing out. I am sure everyone thinks I am suffering from a hangover as this is exactly what it used to be like!

Rosie ? I finally mastered the Doppler ? 154 beats per minute so definitely baby?s heartbeat this time rather than mine! Thanks for the advice on that and I too love my Doppler.

Also tried pregnancy yoga on Friday night which was brilliant and I totally recommend it to all ? even if it doesn?t work on a practical level (and I hope it will), it was nice just to have some peace and time to entirely focus on myself and the baby.

dinkystinky · 18/08/2008 11:13

Nadsss - the tube is the pits: I had a similar experience about 4 weeks ago. Get one of those baby on board stickers on your handbag (call LU Customer Services on 0845 330 9880) and use it to evict those lazy commuters who do nothing to help out an obviously distressed woman!

Pregnancy yoga is great - did it throughout pregnancy with DS and loved having an hour and a half to chill out and just focus on the baby. Am doing it this time round too as feel is only time get to focus on this pregnancy - totally recommend it. And all the breathing practice is great for the birth...

nkweto · 18/08/2008 11:33

Nadsss, that sounds horrible.... I think it also depends on the line.. in my experience the Circle line is normally lovely and people are happy to stand for you, whereas on the Central line people would rather eat their own heads that give you their spot!

Anyone know if any organisation does evening or Saturday pregnancy yoga classes ?

dinkystinky · 18/08/2008 12:10

Whereabouts are you based Nkweto?

Triyoga - in Primrose Hill - does evening and weekend pregnancy yoga classes, as does the Special Yoga Centre in Kensal Rise. Have been to both of them and they're very different but both v good. Pretty sure there are some classes in Islington and Stoke Newington way too, though dont live over that way.

rosieposey · 18/08/2008 12:13

Nadssss glad you got your technique sorted with the doppler :-D Its lovely hearing your lo's hb pattering away isnt it!

Nothing exciting here this weekend except a wedding reception on Saturday night where everyone kept telling DP and I that 'we were next' mind you i did go into panic mode slightly yesterday and made a list of things to do because i just know that if i dont ill forget something major

When does the incessant need to pee all of the time go? I have been like this for weeks and weeks now and wish i could just get a proper nights sleep - i have tried not drinking after 8 o clock at night and even that doesnt work (although cuts down the trips to the loo) but i thought that in your second trimester the need to pee was supposed to lessen!

Weather rubbish as usual here but hey there is one light at the end of the tunnel - kids back to school in two weeks!

pluto · 18/08/2008 12:38

Kids back at school in two weeks means I'm back at school in two weeks - arghhh! In -laws about to leave. Have managed to be nice to them all weekend. (wink) Still need the loo all the time too - at least once in the night. I thought this was supposed to pass. I don't remember having this with DS.

nadssss · 18/08/2008 12:41

Thanks for sympathy! Yep ? I am on the central line! The men just keep their heads down ? and they will fight a woman for an empty seat! Maybe I will get the LU badge ? I feel embarrassed for some reason.

For pregnancy yoga, I went to The Life Centre which is on Edge Street ? just off Kensington Church Street in Nott Hill. It was really great (if a little cultish).

nkweto · 18/08/2008 12:43

dinkystinky, I am in West London, so I think Kensal Rise would proably be the closest.. thank you very much!.. rosieposey, I too have the crazy everlasting need to pee...

onwardandupward · 18/08/2008 13:53

Dammit. I really have the need to pee now.

I wonder whether those of us not in our first pregnancy lost enough of our bladder strength last time around that it's just sending us signals more often than first time around? I also don't remember still needing to pee constantly in the second trimester.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 18/08/2008 14:05

Well done on keeping your cool with your inlaws Pluto - fortunately my MIL is lovely so get on with her (which is good as she's looking after DS today and tomorrow) but my mother drives me mad (less good as she's down from Wednesday until next Monday looking after DS - pesky nannies and their desire for holidays have a lot to answer for!).

Nkweto - bet if you googled pregnancy yoga and your postcode you'll be able to find a few places closer to home that do weekend/evening sessions.

Onwards - am sure its a weakened pelvic floor thing - or maybe just the fact you "inflate" quicker in your second onwards pregnancies so your bladder immediately feels the pressure... have been obsessively doing my pelvic floor exercises on the tube on the way into work since finding out am pregnant as really dont want to sneeze or laugh one of these days and have a little accident....

nadssss · 18/08/2008 14:13

Oh god, the peeing in the night thing as well. Does this mean we will never again get a whole night?s sleep which isn?t punctuated by a bathroom trip (not to mention the hour or so beforehand where you try to put the need to go out of your mind and get back to sleep).

MarkStretch · 18/08/2008 15:52

I went to bed at 10pm last night and by 11.30pm I had got up for 4 wees. God I was pissed off. Then I got up at 5am as I was bursting again!

And I've been really trying not to drink too much in the evenings.

dinkystinky · 18/08/2008 17:02

Try to think of it as good practice for broken nights of sleep with a newborn (unless PinkTulips has got some top tips on managing to keep them quiet till 8.30 too, I think its something we're all going to have to deal with come March next year....)

TinkerBellesMum · 18/08/2008 17:22

I never really had any problems with broken sleep, co-slept and fed her when she stirred, she never had to wake up to screaming level so we never fully woke up.

MarkStretch · 18/08/2008 17:44

Wow, March next year. That felt a bit real then! A baby! By March!

chilledmama · 18/08/2008 18:32

no practical joke...definately a baby in there [phew emoticon, wiping brow]

I can now wear my maternity uniform without worry when I go back to work in 2 weeks

spottyshoes · 18/08/2008 19:46

A baby chilledmama? Really? Glad everything is ok

Strangely, since bang on 12 weeks I have stopped needing the loo at night??? I go about 10 times in the half hour when I'm trying to settle but then that's it until 6.30 That is unusual for me even when I'm not pg!

mslucy · 18/08/2008 19:47

hello everyone. ds off nursery so have been running around all day - he is like a small dog that will chew the furniture if he doesn't get enough exercise.
had lovely weekend - we celebrated my birthday with a party on sat, where everyone apart from me and the kids got roaring drunk.
I was told I was blooming and also that I "looked about 5 and a half months gone".

Saw some photos and I am HUGE, esp considering I am only 15 and half weeks gone.

Where will it all end?
