Here we are! This should do us for a few weeks...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nadssss · 27/08/2008 08:15

hello!

Hi to the new people to the thread -

Spotty - I got the angel sounds one and, once I had managed to locate the baby's heartbeat and distinguish it from my own (which I found hard but is actually obvious as baby?s is much much faster) I do think it's pretty perfect. I have always been able to find the baby's heartbeat (and have been looking most nights obsessively!) although it sometimes takes a couple of minutes.

Tink and MS ? your babies sound so sweet ? it makes me very happy to hear what they are like and very eager to have this one!

I had my bloods taken at the same time as the nuchal (at 12 weeks)

Dinky ? we had the same this weekend ? police sirens and lairy groups of blokes on their way back from the Carnival. I was looking forward to taking my kids to the Carnival in the future but having second thoughts.

Anyone getting stomach cramps and lower back pain. Think this is the uterus stretching. Ugh?

KT1983 · 27/08/2008 08:58

Hi everyone - Im 17+2 ( dd is 9th Feb ) - and also feeling alot going on in my tummy - cramps and a very nasty lower back ache.... :-(

But on the plus side...I keep feeling the baby fluttering about inside me...this weekend he or she has ben wriggling all over the place!

i felt a flutter a week or so ago and I wasnt sure...Now im certain its my little bean! Very weird!

I can also tell that the baby is getting bigger now - as I have to visit the loo about 5 times in a night...
Does this only get worse?? As its really annoying!!

dinkystinky · 27/08/2008 09:05

Morning all. DS woke up at 6 this morning (due to cold) and came and had lots of cuddles in bed with me and DH involving lots of kissing and hugs - lovely! He's not normally a sit still and hug kind of child so is always lovely when it happens...

KT - am afraid the frequent loo trips are here to stay until the little one pops out. Only suggestion I can make is to stop drinking water for the couple of hours before you go to bed - its certainly helped me cut down on nocturnal loo trips.

Nadsss - sympathies on the police sirens and groups of yobbos. Fortunately live a little to the north and west of the Carnival so just had the police choppers hovering over our area monitoring the troubles all night... next year, we definitely all go away during Carnival time (or we invest in double glazing)...

KT1983 · 27/08/2008 09:13

Thanks Dinky - will try giving that a go!

I think my bean is getting their own back on me from all the jumping around I do all day -he/she decides to jump around on my bladder at night! :-)

has anyone had any weird cravings? Or do they come later on in Pregnancy?

pluto · 27/08/2008 09:49

Just "seen" the baby move - ie strange little lump moving about on right side of stomach. Rather disconcerting but at least it makes up for the lack of bump.

KT1983 · 27/08/2008 09:53

Pluto - how many weeks are you? Ive felt flutters but nothing more!
i still dont have a bump yet - but only 16 weeks so plenty of time!

pluto · 27/08/2008 10:02

I am 15 weeks today - but this is my 2nd and I am skinny still, so I think this is why baby movts are visible iyswim.

nadssss · 27/08/2008 10:18

I?m 16 weeks and I?ve felt nothing! I lie there at night hoping to feel flutters. Wow ? Pluto ? I bet you were so excited actually to see the baby! I have definitely had cravings and aversions ? I am eating fruit ice lollies every night and have gone off white chocolate (from really loving it). Also have gone off a lot of green veg (annoyingly). And I love crisps (how grim) which I never ate before!

dinkystinky · 27/08/2008 10:23

I love asparagus Nadss - went off it with a vengeance when pregnant with DS and now off it again! Seems to be stuff with really strong tastes that I've gone off, but dont really seem to have any cravings as such..

herbgarden · 27/08/2008 11:41

Hi all.....
I've felt flutters but nothing more and these are not that frequent. I do though get this horrible thing when I cough like I've pulled a muscle in my womb and it doubles me up in pain....it's like when you get cramp in your side? Not sure if that makes sense. To cough I sometimes have to bend right over so everything is "tucked" up to make it easier. It's horrible.

No real cravings other than crisps too Nadssss - I love salt and vinegar.....

Calico1 · 27/08/2008 12:24

Hello all - can I join in?

Baby number 2 due 21 Feb. Didn't cotton on to MN antenatal groups with my first so feel like I missed out, (though did become a bit obsessive with checking newborn symptoms last time around......it does get a bit addictive)

Have just been waiting over 4 weeks for NHS nuchal & blood results which left me a bit jittery as I am 40 but they finally arrived yesterday and all seem ok (1:560 which is apparently not bad for an old-timer) so thought I'd celebrate by joining in.

By the way cravings wise, nothing yet but last time I used to actually dream about baked potatoes and ate my way through far too many....

TinkerBellesMum · 27/08/2008 12:32

I never really get cravings, there are things I like more or less (actually sugar - especially fructose - up and salt down! Which isn't that bad really)

I can't believe I'm almost half way through and if this baby comes early as expected, then I'm more than half way.

I forgot to say in my last post, I managed to pin my doctor down about what happens. She said I need to come in whenever I have pain (even if it's BH) to get checked out. They'll keep me in and monitor me, then take it from there. I guess that's what I wanted to be told really.

I'm on the NCT Caesarean list and someone on there said that the risks might not be that high, apparently a classic section only has a 2% chance of rupture and an extension into upper section doesn't go that far so it may not be at as much risk as they're making out. It's something I want to look into and understand before I let them take me down that road.

KazzaL · 27/08/2008 12:52

I feel like I've missed loads, 6 pages to read since last friday.

DS (16 mths) has had a raging temp since monday evening, possibly teeth, but is already on antibiotics since last wed for a chest infection. DH has taken the last 2 days off work to stay with him as I'm running out of holiday and I feel a bit jealous cos all DS wants now is daddy . I do get calls every 2 mins practically though about when should he give the next calpol etc!!

I'm feeling like a bit of a fraud - the rest of you all seem to have been experiencing all the classic pg symptoms sickness (not jealous - sorry ) lots of nighttime wees, sore boobs etc and I haven't really had any - I just look like i;ve eaten too many cakes which I may have but not that many

Won't be joining the doppler gang - listening to the heartbeat freaks DH out as does seeing the bump move, so have to content myself with knowing No2 is ok by it's somersaults

PinkTulips · 27/08/2008 13:45

[head explodes]

that's the second time i've posted a huge bit post and my broadband has crashed and lost it

i give up..... i'm still pregnant, hope everyone else is doing ok.

[storms off to make a cuppa and is tackled by small furry swarm of kittens]

dinkystinky · 27/08/2008 14:09

Welcome to the thread Calico - the more the merrier (I too didnt discover MN when pregnant with DS, loving having found it this time round though!). Find the latest list (a few pages back) and paste it in and add your details so we can all keep track.

PinkTulips - my broadband does that to me all the time. Hope the kittens manage to lessen your wrath.

KazzaL - your little boy is really in the wars isnt he! Hope he gets better soon (not least so you and your DH can get some rest). How is your shin healing?

rosieposey · 27/08/2008 14:31

Hello all Back from Devon and just catching up on all the posts ... lots and lots!

Welcome and congrats to the newbies - Calico your due the same day as me Thats great news about your results too.

Had consultant appointment yesterday and mentioned that id quite like to discuss the possibility of a cs as my last induction and delivery led to my DD3 being in intensive care for a week and was an awful expericence that i had no wish to repeat - therefore feel anxious and paranoid. She just said that i was 10 times more likely to die if i had a cs and just did the usual scare tactics that i was expecting i know they have to point out the risks which is fine but did little to allay my worries if im honest ... now im sh*tting myself if i get induced for a 4th time or if i do end up with a a cs im far more likely to snuff it nothing like a bit of practical support from the nhs!

Also been put on baby aspirin and have to get my BP checked every two weeks at hospital and go on some tablets to keep it lower - lol i did try and explain that having two teenagers was never going to be conducive with low blood pressure but there you go.

Am 15 weeks this Saturday and cant believe that some of you are already nearing the 20 week mark! Gosh its starting to go really quickly now.

Did think that i felt some faint flutterings at 11/12 weeks with this one but i dont think thats what it was - havent really felt anything significant since but yesterday when consultant was doing a quick scan am sure i felt a little prod am really looking forward to feeling this one move properly.

PinkTulips · 27/08/2008 14:41

have calmed down now although i didn't get the cup of tea yet..... damn kids went apeshit. will try again in a few minutes!

the kitten we're going to keep came up on the couch with me last night and curled up on me and went to sleep.... i forgot how soothing it is to have a little bundle of fluff purring on your tummy

ds got a kick yesterday

baby is still 'muffled' feeling compared to the other 2 but at least i can feel movement daily now.

onwardandupward · 27/08/2008 14:42

I'm feeling flutterings right now this minute

I keep thinking the nausea has passed and then I get another nauseous evening. Gah. I'm sure it was gone gone gone by 16 weeks last time. Maybe it's to do with getting too tired, this time around.

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 27/08/2008 15:10

i barely had any at all with ds but i remeber being very ill til i was about 20 weeks with dd. am ok most days but if i eat too much or get tired or am just feeling crappy in general i do find it gets qute bad.... at least no puking anymore though, i'm grateful for the small mercies

TinkerBellesMum · 27/08/2008 15:29

I can feel the baby running "her" feet up and down the front of my womb. I seem to be the only one who can feel it though. The one day Tink was lying on me having a cuddle and "she" started to kick against her, was very sweet. "She doesn't like me wearing a seat belt either - neither did Tink!

Rosieposie - horrified that your consultant said that to you about having a cs. What was she thinking when you were worried anyway? I am going to ask about a cs too, as with DS1 I had a horrible time due to a disc collapsing in my back during labour which resulted in surgery a few days later ..... a long story but something I am keen to avoid this time around as back is now v dodgy and apparently there is a 10% chance of it happening again. Presumably the 10 x more likely to die bit is a statistic covering all cs's not just elective....as I guess some emergency cs would mean that the mother was at some significant risk anyway.......?

dinkystinky · 27/08/2008 16:07

Cool - have added in KT too and updated my due date (though pretty sure no 2 will be a March baby if anything like his/her brother who had to be evicted at 42 weeks...)

P.s Rosieposey - what a horrible consultant! I know they need to let you know about the risks but there is a right way and wrong way to go about things.

Have booked myself on a hypnobirthing course to help me get in the right place for no2's birth and deal with stuff from DS's birth - could you maybe do something like that (so you're mentally in a much better place)? Or get a birth doula to help talk through your concerns/worries following DD's birth?

PinkTulips · 27/08/2008 16:26

dinky that's ok... i'm pretty sure my baby will be a january one!

i still post on my aug 06 thread though even though ds is a july baby
