Brand new thread ladies!

I think I'm going to buck the 10 year trend in the other direction, as I make it 14 years since DH and I started 'going out' (5 since we got married). But this will be our second DC, and when I got pg with the first one it would have been 11 years together, so closer to the thread trend!

I'm 37, DH is 40, so we were getting pretty frantic when a year of TTC-ing had no result. I'd just been referred to a specialist, had 3 blood tests, one pelvic scan and was discussing clomid when I got my bfp on cycle 13 of TTC. What I don't know about EWCM is not worth knowing...

Grinningbee that sounds like a hell of a year. Here's to better times ahead!

HopingCat · 05/08/2008 12:27

It's really good to know more about people, so here's the info on me: DH and I are both 29, married for 3 years. DD is 21 months and was planned, and this little one was planned too, although I was suprised it happened quite so fast. I work part time 2.5 days and look after DD for the rest of the week. We live near Preston in Lancashire.

DH is away on a course this week, and it's the first time we've been seperated for so long. He only went yesterday and I'm already lonely. Found myself crying when watching Big Brother last night Am sure it must be hormones doing this to me!

HopingCat · 05/08/2008 12:33

chiplet - don't worry too much about lack of symptoms. I am a bit of a worrier about this too, but it really is true that everyone reacts differently to pregnancy and there is nothing positive in worrying a lot. If you are only 6.5 weeks you may not feel at all pg yet, I certainly didn't with DD. I have friends who hardly struggled at all in the first months, it was only towards the end when they got symptoms like swollen ankles. I has morning sickness from week 7 til week 17, but then never got bad ankles, bad back or anything else towards the end of pg.

Hope this is reassuring. I know you want to feel pg as I think we all want some sort of proof, and these first weeks feel like they last forever. You are quite normal to feel like this!

SpookyMadMummy · 05/08/2008 13:27

A word of caution:

Don't rush around sorting out lunch cos you will do exactly what I just did and trip over a tablecloth covering a low table and pull your back out.... ouch!

winemakesmummyclever · 05/08/2008 15:02

aunty - hope that the scan went ok

Ok, so info about me. I am 34 (35 this month) and live near Manchester with dh (married 2006) and ds (28 months). Am a SAHM and part time student. I have got two more years at uni, and am wondering how I will stay sane with two little ones. Ds was kind of planned, but this lo was a lovely surprise.

Have got my first scan tomorrow afternoon and am nervous and excited at the same time.

Here's to happy and healthy pregnancies for all of us

twocutedarlings · 05/08/2008 15:31

Hi Girls,

Sorry ive not caught up with the rest of the posts just though i check in.

Im feeling very tearfull today im not sure whats up with me .

i think the sickness is finally taking its toll ive had almost 8 solid weeks of it morning noon and night now, the weather is pants here so ive been stuck in with the girls all day.

laweaselmys · 05/08/2008 15:56

Hey twocutedarlings I was feeling that way over the past few weeks but it suddenly lifted today and I wish you the same! Maybe it's worth randomly treating yourself to something?

Introduction for moi:

I only moved in with my DP properly 6 weeks ago and was already pregnant with this DC but didn't know it at the time! I guess that might sound scary to all the 10 yrs marrieds here but it doesn't bother us that much, as we were forced by our six hours apart lives to live together only part time for two years before that. Although it also probably helps that we are both very relaxed!

I just finished my degree in Philosophy and this is my second month of being unemployed (damn transferable skills lies) but have a job interview on Friday to work at a breakfast/after school club... eventually I want to train to be a primary school teacher but now have to delay that slightly to make room for the DC - but I don't mind, it gives me a chance to get more work experience and decide if I really want to do it anyway.

auntyspan · 05/08/2008 16:30

Hey ladies!!

Scan went fine this morning, had to have an 'internal' scan as they wanted to be sure there was a heartbeat and I forgot to go with a full bladder!

Anyway saw the little jumping bean with a nice strong heartbeat so all is well

PHEW!

grinningbee · 05/08/2008 16:43

Brilliant news auntyspan!

Do they give you a picture this early on?

Just curious as I'm going next week...

winemakesmummyclever · 05/08/2008 16:58

aunty - great news about your little jumping bean. Did you manage to get a pic? (cannot believe how much they charge for them!)

twocute - it must be all the hormones swishing around. Today, I burst into tears when the vac fell over onto me as I plugged it in .

Cheered myself up by singing (v.loudly and v. v. badly) along to last shadow puppets on my ipod. I find the only way I can be arsed persuaded to vac the stairs is to sing and dance tunelessly up them.

Obviously, I do this when I am home alone or ds would be on the phone to social services / noise abatement group

auntyspan · 05/08/2008 17:06

I do have a pic yes, although as DH put it "it just looks like a dirty smudge..."

OP posts:
grinningbee · 05/08/2008 17:33

A dirty smudge???

Cor, if my hubby says anything like that, I'll give him a dirty smudge!!!

laweaselmys · 05/08/2008 17:37

I'm so excited about getting my first picture!! (dirty smudge or no!) I still have to wait a month though. I'm very glad that things turned out to be okay for you aunty.

I am randomly obsessing about Christmas a) because I enjoy it and b) it will only be three months to go! But Christmas and birth both seem endlessly far away atm!

livismum · 05/08/2008 17:44

Hi all!

aunty so glad ur scan went well (apart from internal bit!)

I'm sticking to cbeebies even though DD is havin v v late nap i will suffer for it later but she just couldn keep her eyes open bless! and gives me chance to be on here!

dinny · 05/08/2008 17:48

Hello, I feel so so rough with sickness and also splitting headache. Seems stomach can't tolerate anything much food-wise, any suggestions?

livismum · 05/08/2008 17:52

My fail proof is cold toast with a smidge of marmalade and glass of nice cold orange juice, wotked with DD too but everyones different!

dinny · 05/08/2008 17:54

oh, God, couldn't drink OJ. thanks for tip though! mine also gets miles worse in the evening, awful

laweaselmys · 05/08/2008 17:57

have you tried plain pasta? It is very boring but warm and quite easy on the stomach I found.

Mandy73 · 05/08/2008 18:11

Welcome newbies!

Great news aunty!

We didn't get pic at my w6 scare scan (to nervous to think to ask) but DH said he saw her print off a few and stick in my journal.

I cried at BB too.

Have a nice evening everyone. x

Hey everyone and welcome to newbies!

I have ds1 back and the house is destoryed! At least we sorted out who the messy person really is.

I got my blood and urine tests back and apparently I have a bladder infection, so a week of medication and that will be sorted. The nurse said I'm lucky we caught it early so there will be no pain involved.

I also got my new car this morning (well it's new to me) It's old, but it runs and is big enough for our family and a few more.

Still have this cold, and I'm so congested that my ears keep popping, it's making me crazy. Ds1's birthday is tomorrow so I'm off to make a cake so we can celebrate today.

barbie1 · 05/08/2008 19:02

well since we are sharing...im 28 and only got married on the 24th of may this year and fell pregnant 4 weeks later! i am a beauty therapist but currently working as an account manager for estee lauder so if you need any skin care tips over the coming months feel free to ask! im living in newcastle but am from plymouth devon, hoping to move back some time in the new year. My husband has been away for the last few weeks and still has a few more to go (he works for bp as a marine engineer) i am probably the most paraniod person you will ever meet! im waiting for my scare scan on monday and have everything crossed for good news like aunty..........

HopingCat · 05/08/2008 20:21

Glad you had a good scan Aunty, although I don't envy you the internal scan. I had a scare with DD when I was 9 weeks pg, and when I saw the internal scan 'tool' I could have fallen off the bed I was so horrified. Thankfully they decided it was not necessary and stayed on the outside!

If people are struggling to eat, I find Jacobs crackers good or Water biscuits. Also plain pasta as someone else said - I managed to eat this when in labour but couldn't stomach anything else (it was a 24 hr labour so I had to eat something)

I'm so glad other people watch Big Brother, and am even more glad that some of you cried. It has made me feel a lot less pathetic.

dinny · 05/08/2008 20:24

why was BB so sad? (have been away for a week, am clueless!)
