So sorry Barbie. Take care of yourself and good luck.

EllieorOllie · 08/09/2008 00:19

Barbie - So sorry to hear that, particularly after all that happened to you so early on. Good luck with everything

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow. Oh, actually today technically. No anticipation or excitement left now, only irrational fear. Part of me is so sure that it's all gone wrong. I don't remember having any such concerns the first time round. I think one very hairy birth experience made me realise how fragile this all is, and how incredibly lucky and blessed we are when we get to the end of these 9 months with a healthy, lively baby. Good luck to everyone whose scans are coming up this week... Hope you all get good news

emma2617 · 08/09/2008 09:06

Morning ladies!!

So sorry Barbie....out of everyone I was really hoping all went well for you after all you've been through. I wish you all the luck in the world TTC. All the best!

Well...I am 14+2 today and still convinced it's all doom and gloom! I can't wait to have my choose and book appointment with my midwife to ask if she can hear bambino...I will be 14+5 so am I right in thinking she should be able to hear the heartbeat?

I am getting seriously stressed about it all now, and it is making it hard to tell people because I just keep thinking I am going to have to ring them again in a couple of weeks to tell them I have lost the baby.

Is this normal levels of paranoia? Is everyone else this bad or is it just me?

I can't bring myself to talk babies with anyone anymore and it is really upsetting me as I keep thinking this should be the happiest time.

titchy77 · 08/09/2008 09:14

So sorry for you loss barbie thinking of you. x

I have my scan on wed and am very nervous about it, I have a doppler and can hear the babys heartbeat but when it takes me a while to find it, i panic and then I keep thinking its getting fainter! maybe a bad thing having a doppler!
Wheelybug your problems sound similar to mine, I too am on baby asprin and have to inject myself with daily clexane injections, this is because I have a blood condition where my blood clots too much, they think this has been what has caused my m/c's and that my dd had IUGR and only weighed 4lb 13 at 38 weeks. I have to have growth scans and
see a consultant every month rather than a midwife too. Why are they taking these precuations with you?
Its a very nervous time for us and just getting through each week is a relief, we have been told that my condition can cause late pregnancy loss, I feel so grateful that my dd arrived safe, when I think what could of been..
I am still feeling sick and tired, it doesn't help that i work nights and can just about keep my eyes open for the entire shift! My skin is also dreadful and make at least 5 trips to the loo at night...not complaining thou!

laweaselmys · 08/09/2008 12:43

Still can't book my bloomin' scan. Just spent half an hour in the phone-queue to book it only to finally get to the end and get cut off instantly!! I'm getting massively FED UP with government bodies loosing my paperwork (it's still lost as far as I know). My name and date of birth must be cursed. Argh. However my midwife gave me my book that all my notes go in and I am so so relieved that I get to keep them for the whole pregnancy! Can't stand the idea of turning up to deliver and have the hospital staff stare at me blankly and ask if I'm sure I'm at the right hospital... grrr.

Is there a point when it will be too late to have my dating scan? I'm already 12+3 (more IMO) and I just want to know everything's alright so I can start getting on with blood tests etc.

Back to TMI. Eating in bed in the morning did nothing today, was sick on the bus again. Although, exciting news: sandwich bags are vomit-leak proof.

MKG · 08/09/2008 13:00

Morning everyone!

Barbie-I'm so sorry. You sound very positive, and hope to see on the antei-natal boards again soon.

Nothing new is going on here. My mokeys children are making me crazy, but they do it with a cute smile on their face.

emma2617 · 08/09/2008 13:08

laweasel They say that a dating scan is accurate provided it is done before either 20 or 22 weeks, so you still have plenty of time!

I would also like to profer up some TMI!! Is anyone else hideously constipated?! My belly is so tight and tender, I have to walk slightly bent to avoid pain, it is interrupting my sleep as well! Any suggestions out there?! I want to sort it ASAP to prevent piles!

MKG · 08/09/2008 13:11

emma-I am but only in the afternoon. In the morning I'm a little out of control IYKWIM.

I would suggest you drink more water, and possibly take in more fiber like psyllium husks or something.

SunshineSmith · 08/09/2008 13:43

HI girls,

Barbie, sorry to hear your news. I truly hope you have great support around and that they really take good care of you. I am very sure you will be in a thread with very good news indeed.

Well, not much to report here. Had a great weekend chilling at home and work is truly quiet - hurrah!-

Regarding constipation, I drink regularly prune juice and it works for me. Not the tastiest juice but it does the job.

Do you know is Isabella Oliver clothes do wash well? Where do you get your pregnancy leggings? I must stock up soon before the cold arrives!

emma2617 · 08/09/2008 14:01

MKG...I knew i was constipated, but have only really started suffering today!! have started on the water...both warm and cold! Had bran flakes for breakfat, vegetable soup for lunch and fruit for afternoon snack...I cannot stand prunes but I am rapidly running out of ideas!!

I was thinking I mayy go see doctor tomorrow and see what he suggests...also because I am developing serious anger issues! I am just an advert for contraception at the moment...as my family keep lovingly pointing out!!

Yarnie · 08/09/2008 14:30

Emma I've really suffered from constipation and tried all kinds of things to no avail (drinking more water, eating dried fruit, etc). In the end it was eating a bowl of porridge every morning that sorted me out. I recently switched to a multi-grain porridge and that's even better. Do give it a try. It took 2 days to take effect for me. I also find it fills me up and stops me wanting to snack for most of the day - 2 cures in 1!

MKG · 08/09/2008 14:30

Oh my goodness with ds1 I totally had pregnancy rage. My dh's car still has marks where I put my fist in the dashboard

emma2617 · 08/09/2008 15:14

Oh yes...I have yet to lose it, I just take myself up stairs or to the toilet and sit for 15 minutes, just thinking about breathing!!

I was on the verge of yelling at a bloke in a restaurant yesterday as where we were sat was on a raised floor and he wouldnt stop jiggling his feet...it was like a bleeding freight train going past
I keep blowing up about absolutely nothing and DP has really had enough now as he says I am making him feel like sh*t

Yarnie I can't stand porridge, dont like anything warm in the mornings!! I am starting to get a bit down about it now as I haven't been since Thursday...tomorrow will be the 5th day! I can just imagine my poor bowels getting topped up everytime I eat anything!!

Poor you, Emma. It's a shame you don't like porridge. I second FearlessFreak re: the vits. They can make constipation worse. Maybe your GP/midwife can recommend one which won't interfere with your BMs? Otherwise, it sounds like you need to go the whole hog: high fibre cereal in the mornings with a glass of prune juice, snack on dried fruit, drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruit and veg for the duration. If that fails, then your GP can give you a remedy to sort you out.

lizziemun · 08/09/2008 16:35

Emma

I had bad consipation with my 1st pregancy and was told by the doctor to take this.

emma2617 · 08/09/2008 16:37

Thanks for the suggestions fearless and Yarnie I was taking pregnacare until about 9 weeks but stopped as it was bunging me up and switched to folic acid only (which i am still taking) I don't need iron as bloods came back fine. I am going to the supermarket tonight so will buy branflakes, orange juice and plenty of fruit...but no bananas!! I LOVE bread and pasta, although i havent had any for a while, i will stop the pasta and only have wholemeal bread! I am so full of water today i could pop...but i will persevere!!

I think this is payback for no morning sickness!!!!

I have my scan on weds too, thats 3 of us on this page with them on the same day! I keep swithing between being excited and then convincing myself somethings wrong! My DH keeps pointing out im getting bigger by he day so everything must be ok!

Still havent told most family and friends but im sure they are all guessing because my wardrobe is different at the mo!

Have too had some constipation (lovely) and as have very good veggie diet it is v v unusual! Also more headaches than usual, wanted to be feeling better now ms wearing off! never mind all be worth it!

Good luck everyone else with scans, tests etc xx

Slickbird · 08/09/2008 18:25

I have to say, dried apricots work for me. I once munched on rather too many in my first pregnancy and OMG! I had major squirts! Sorry, but it might help.

I have had angry moments too, mostly because my 7 year old has been driving me up the wall, but my husband has packed me off two weekends in a row to my mum's to chill out and I have to say, it's really helped and am much calmer. I think tho, it was definitely when the placenta was taking over and my hormones were all over the place, I was also completely exhausted and had no patience. Better now tho. still, not before a truck driver got it in the neck for blocking my way to catch a train with one minute to spare as he was looking for a building. I was going NUTS, leaning out the window - "I HAVE A TRAIN TO CATCH!!!" His response; "Eh, cin ye tell me where Agilent is??' Aaaaarrrrggghhh.

Needless to say, I missed the feckiin' train.

Wheelybug · 08/09/2008 18:55

Hi All !

Titchy - I (probably) had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy with dd and she had IUGR - born at 4 lbs 9 oz at 37 weeks... its worrying times isn't it ?

I have been back and forth to the hospital for the last two days but not for me ! DH is in with some wierd leg infection. At least he;s now had to sample the hospital food (before being transferred to the private ward I may add, thanks to our insurance) so it may step up my hints at having private postnatal care if I'm in for a long time again (which our insurance wouldn't cover and DH has scoffed at) but probably won't !!

Good luck with the scans everyone.

I haven't been sick for 2 days - which of course makes me start worrying even though I am over 13 weeks pg so quite likely it is tailing off.... ho hum.

Slickbird · 08/09/2008 18:55

P.S. Constipation isn't my problem right now, it's bloomin wind! Anyone else a constant Frankie Fart Pants?!

Mandy73 · 08/09/2008 19:55

Hi there,

I've worked abroad for a week, all well.

Barbie, so very sorry for your loss. Best of luck for the future.

Getting nervous for my nuchal scan on Wednesday (will be 12+4), trying to stay neutral/realistic until then. Sat with DH and read all the literature today trying to prepare but it's all very abstract until you're there I guess.

Nite nite all. x

Boobz · 09/09/2008 09:21

Hey all,

Have been busy with work recently, trying to take my mind off all things baby and avoid spending literally hours on MN when I should be earning a living instead...

Lasted all of 4 days though... and now I have had a good nuchal scan, I have allowed myself to start being sucked into the world of Baby Crap (as my DH puts it). Mainly prams and clothes and cots etc.

So, DH and I nearly had a heart attack when we saw new prams were like, £700! I have been looking at the Mama's and Papa's stuff, as well as Bugaboo... but there is just so much choice and I have no idea what we should be buying (used on Ebay I imagine). Does anyone with kids already have an opinion? Or where should I post this question?

Hope everyone is feeling ok this week and good luck for scans coming up!

xx
