MrsMagoo I had a session yesterday (not intended to be a labour-bringer-onner) and it DID do wonders for the feet n ankles. They swelled up again today, mind you, but looked and felt fine yesterday. MOST reassuring. Plus felt blissful at time. Enjoy yourself!

alittlebitshy · 31/07/2008 18:50

So pleased to hear from ilana but very at your mw.

oopsacoconut · 31/07/2008 18:50

Ilana Thrilled to hear that Saul is fine and home were he should be and feeding well.

FHLH Step away from the caster oil - they used to give it to us at boarding school on Sunday nights - 1 tsp for all junior girls to keep us regular, it was not funny with 12 girls and loos but it kept us under control on a Sunday night!

TS YAY No MIL invited Party at yours this weekend???

MrsM I also have reflexolgy tomorrow - 1.5 hours of pure feet rubbing bliss.

Cyteen have you tried Spatone? in orange juice apparently it helps absorbtion.

bohemianbint · 31/07/2008 18:54

Congratulations to Miamla and DizzyDixies!

MrsMagooo · 31/07/2008 18:55

VG Ooo yay glad to hear the reflexology worked a treat on your ankles - even if short lasting

Oops I'm really looking forward to it - never had it before but always wanted to try it. The lady is coming to my house (even better) & she has a special chair apperantly!! She was saying about all these points she can use to help balance my body & things that will help with back ache etc etc - sounds pure bliss! Was expecting it to be a fortune but she's only charging £25 for an hour which I thought was really good!

She said about the points on the hands too & said she will bring me a print out chart for points that I can reach myself to help with contractions

PetitFilou1 · 31/07/2008 19:02

Foghorn Please don't try castor oil, it will just give you diarrhoea and apparently the mws can tell and won't be impressed. Not worth it!

PetitFilou1 · 31/07/2008 19:04

I've had a dreadful afternoon with the dcs so am off for this evening as feeling extremely irritable - back tomorrow hopefully after some sleep I'll be in a better mood

Have a good evening everyone

VintageGardenia · 31/07/2008 19:07

Hugs to pf - get some rest lovey, sounds like you've been worked hard today.

Cheers for the good wishes MrsM, although you have made my ankles throb with jealousy with all your talk of reflexology at home Hope it gets things moving, but if not I'm guessing at least you'll get a lovely period of bliss...

oops thanks for the tip - I will see if I can get them to prescribe me Spatone instead of plain old tablets, as I can't face a return to constipation after so many regular weeks. Just can't bring myself to buy Floradix as am still scarred from a childhood incident in which my mum tried to force me and my brother to take it regularly - we had one spoonful each and threatened to leave home unless she promised never to give it to us again

Ilana how wonderful to have your baby home at last Very happy for all the K family.

Sazz think I may join you in a glass of wine tonight - I'm making pizza for tea as DP has had a rubbish day and deserves some looking after, so a glass of red may find itself into my hand.

TwilightSurfer · 31/07/2008 19:34

I just realized my REAL due date is only 16 days away. I will be 38 weeks this Saturday and my doctor said he would gladly induce me before 39 weeks if I wished. That means I'll probably have a baby by NEXT SATURDAY!!!!!!

OP posts:
Shazza2002 · 31/07/2008 20:57

You can have your baby then TW on 1 condition............... I have mine 1st.

I don't take kindly to queue jumpers

poppysocks · 31/07/2008 21:02

CONGRATULATIONS DIZZY. Such great news! Drove past the hospital this morning and thought of you. After all you've gone through with this pg and the last few weeks it's wonderful to hear that you've got a lovely little girl (or three!) in your arms. Can't wait to hear what you've come up with to call her after all the inspiration and help you've given the rest of us. Hope to meet the new addition soon!

Hope all well with you ChaCha. Looking forward to your news.... And gg. Best of luck tomorrow!

Thanks for the update Ilana. Great to hear from you and that Saul is home. Hope the mw ups her game soon... Glad you've been feeling more positive ALBS. I agree with you re: pn thread btw.

Sorry you've had such a rubbish day with the DCs pf. DD still being pretty demonic, but today not tooooo awful. Full of admiration that you manage with two!

Super busy day here today. Went shopping, aware that it might be quite some time before I get there again... Did manage to pick up a couple of amazing reduced steaks in the supermarket so DH and I have just polished them off and it would have been rude not to accompany such lovely nosh with a glass of red.... Is the lush's corner occupied this evening?

oopsacoconut · 31/07/2008 21:05

PS I think the only thing around here tonight is the tumbleweed

Sausageandmash · 31/07/2008 21:08

CC - yes, we are clearly in the 'freaky' womb corner. It's a delight, isn't it?!

TS - thanks for adding my smiley C-sec info. Next Saturday is ..., well,.... soon, isn't it! I'm feeling the same about my 'date'. Nail-biting stuff and just had a frenzy of nesting in our nursery!

Ilana - so glad you're out and sorry that you've managed to land yourself with a midwife with such a smashing attitude!

Dizzy - congratulations on the safe arrival of your daughter x

It's official. I'm hot - and part of me wishes I"d been like your friend Cyteen and steered clear of an August birth - whatever possessed me to become a whale over the summer!

ataraxis · 31/07/2008 21:58

Evning all (if anyone is still around)

Congratulations dizzy - fantastic news!! Hope things went well for chacha, looking forward to hearing.

Ilana, so glad that things are going well with Saul. MW .

poppy, I am joining you in lush corner tonight. Decided that a glass of red was definitely the way to go. Sod the ironing!

pf, sorry you had such a bad day today, hope tomorrow is better.

cyteen - what is the 'right' time then? I am really hoping that DC3 does come into the world in August (in fact, next week would be just fine) - youngest child with 2 older brothers... the extra year would be a nightmare! And I know a few August borns who did brilliantly at uni... do you think they are the statistical exceptions .

cyteen · 31/07/2008 22:07

Well exactly ataraxis - as if statistics are ever the whole story. People are individuals, how they do in life is down to a whole host of factors.

Tbh though, my friend (lovely as she is) is recently reformed after a very chaotic life - once she was a crazy out of control mess, now she's a very buttoned-up Jewish married professional, so I think she's just going through the 'swinging too far the other way' phase of life and being really anal about details I'd like to see her apply her arguments to my August baby! [lioness emoticon]

Cosy here in the lush corner, isn't it?

poppysocks · 31/07/2008 22:19

I'm having rather a nice time in the lush's corner . So glad I'm not alone . Good God I'm hot. (Clearly I referring only to the temperature - sitting here wearing very little).

Hi all August mums,
I feel like I've gate crashed a party too late!

I am due August 27th and havent actually seen a midwife yet. Maybe once at 18 weeks?
Had blood test at 28 weeks.Cant get appointment at surgery until August 5th. Midwife only does one afternoon a week so booked this about 2 weeks ago.
What annoys me is I have "shared care" with hospital and surgery. Each time I try to make appointment there arent any, so I end up going to the hospital. So that must mean surgery are claiming 1/2 the money from NHS for doing nothing.
Anyone else have trouble seeing midwife?

me:38
DS1 - 2
DS2= Due 27th August.
