Mamamuffin I still have not packed my bag!!!!!!!
I don't know what I am waiting for.
The red Close baby carrier, or Organic baby carrier is gorgeous, the charcoal colour looked like a black t-shirt washed to many times and I returned it.

My last thing to buy: a buggy brolly, an umbrella that you attach to the pushchair, very handy when it rains and I have to still take ds to nursery. I am hoping for a bargain, but no luck yet.

Sunshinemummy · 25/07/2008 15:40

I ahven't packed my bag yet either - although have written my list.

jearund · 25/07/2008 15:54

Haven't been on for the last couple of days as I've been ill.I've only actually worked 4 hours this week! DH has had a bad cold and cough and wasn't fit to look after DD so I had to take Tuesday and Weds off. DD and I spent both afternoons in the sunshine with my NCT group! However yesterday I woke up feeling sick and ended up spending the whole day in bed feeling terrible, then was finally very very sick. Feeling better today, just very weak still. I presume it's either a 24 bug or food poisoning as it's a bit late for morning sickness (and I never had it quite that bad!!!). So there goes another week. Only 3 more til I stop work!

Potxola thanks for the info. I'll definitely get a clip - no rush though as we won't be moving DD until after DS is here and I'm supposed to be trying not to spend money at the moment......

Isn't it hot! I finally got DH to dig out our fan yesterday and had it on for 24 hours solid while I was in bed! What a difference!

Debithescot we got a rucksack changing back last time round from Babybjorn which was fine. We attached it to the buggy with bugg clips which worked fine. Haven't bought another one. In fact we've bought next to nothing for Dougie - we are hoping to reuse all of DD's stuff as it was expensive enough the first time round without starting all over again! Oh except clothes of course.....I draw the line at dressing my son in pink (even if DH does have a penchant for pink shirts!)

imoscarsmum · 25/07/2008 15:59

OiOi messenger looks like my favourite so far - glad to hear good things about it.

Now I am panicking as I haven't done by birth plan or packed my bag. Oh shit. Especially as mamamufin you're due just 2 days before me and about a billion times more organised. Can you come and sort my stuff out please

eandz · 25/07/2008 16:59

yeah, we're sticking with Noah no matter what. I just hope it doesn't put us in her bad books. I've tried soo hard to be a good daughter in law.

potxola · 25/07/2008 17:03

Are you a fan of the SKIP HOP CHANGING BAG?
I found this web that has a special offer on them. £20.00 off
www.groovystyle.co.uk/productpages/bibsandstuff/skiphop/skiphop-cord-special-offer.htm

becaroo · 25/07/2008 17:04

eandz.....Noah is lovely.

Why is MIL even getting a say????

becaroo · 25/07/2008 17:05

I decided that if my (very religious) MIL didnt like our babys name I would say;

"OK, we'll call him Herod instead"

heh heh

eandz · 25/07/2008 17:08

becaroo,
mother in law is burmese and fil are bengladeshi (or it might be the other way around, i can't tell for the life of me)...anyway she feels like both sides of the family that live in their respective countries won't be able to pronounce the name. but i don't care really because it's a name that is relevant in the Jewish and Muslim cultures which is what we were aiming for. I think she just wants a very Islamic name, even if it might cause a problem with my family. since i don't see them that much.

Goldiewithabump · 25/07/2008 17:11

Hi

Debithescot - think you are in London but not sure where, only place I have seen the Oi Oi messenger and hobo in shops is in Blackheath, near Greenwich at a toy shop called Second Impressions. Not sure if it will be of any help.

Mamamuffin - I am in the process of convincing dp to let me go a bit nuts and get the elizabeth storksac. Does it really look as good in the flesh??????

Completely obsessed by changing bags at the moment, that and baby carriers. Thinking of getting the infantino sling, but can't find any reviews for it?

Starlight don't make me laugh, my tummy is far tooooo big for that.
But who knows that could be a possibility when I go back to the job market.
Let's just say I LOVE finding bargains and let you all know about it. There is nothing I hate more than finding out I have paid too much for something.

I am not buying a changing bag. I didn't the last time either. I did buy a Radley bag which is much larger, plain and more practical than the twee stuff Radley now seems to only make.

It is large enough to hold a nappy, a few wipes, a change of clothing for a small baby and a large muslin which goes on the floor or wherever to use as a change mat.

At the end of DD's baby days, it became my work handbag - what it was supposed to be actually. It can comfortably hold a teacher's planner and other necessities. Now it will revert back to baby change bag.

After a lot of faff, fasting, bloodtests, sitting around in the hospital all morning and then all afternoon - I got the all clear. No gestational diabetes. So it's all good but feels like a very very long day. I really can't stand the heat so in the end DH took dd out to a friends house for the afternoon to avoid me and my temper =) I slept all afternoon which was lovely.

Eandz, just ignore your mil, she's had her go at naming already, now it's your turn.

We got quite lucky this time, I suggested the name Katie to dh who really liked it. Turns out it's my mil's favourite name that she always wanted for a daughter but didn't get, so she's pleased as punch.

yes, yes...i like katie too.

eh, my mother in law didn't name her children. my fil had his students decide on a middle name for my husband since the country my husband was born in (Jordan) stipulates all male Muslim boys be named Mohammed as a first name. and then her daughter was named by her own mother and mil. one came up with a first name and the other came up with a middle name.

so she hasn't had a go with naming her own kids, but i'm not sure if i'm ready to give up my chance of giving my racially/genetically and culturally confused baby a decent name he can live with.

Sassafrass · 25/07/2008 19:47

Eandz, maybe she does think it's her turn now then =) I really like your choices, they're lovely names, Noah especially. As a teacher you get a kind of naughty names list in your head and a list of good names, and Noah is definately on the good list =)

meglet · 25/07/2008 20:07

Re: Changing bags. I got a Baba Bing 'Daytripper' Paternity Satchel in Boots this week, had £10 off so was 'only' £40, but triple points on baby stuff at the mo so that was a bonus! We haven't used a changing bag for DS as I have a huge handbag. But with 2 under 2 we decided to get one. I picked it on the basis it is a bit more masculine (loads of pockets, mobile phone pokcet in the strap and carribinas to hang dummys off) so DP will be happy carting it about. He is already excited about using it . Link www.bababing.co.uk/daytripper.htm

34 weeks pregnant now and saw midwife today. Nicely boring visit, urine, BP and baby all fine. Not anaemic, thank God. See her again in 2 weeks.

My nose is getting seriously bunged up too, had to get the Vicks out last night. Although I have now swiped the Karvol from DS's room as it reminds me of my childhood .

I went a bit mad today and have booked a full leg wax and Brazilian for the start of November. I tried to tidy up my binkin line yesterday and it was impossible. Not going to bother before the baby arrives, but will have some pamepering to look forward to once she is 2 months old. I have never had a Brazilian at the salon so it should be interesting. I just hope my piles are gone by then . If not I'll skip that bit!

DebitheScot · 25/07/2008 20:12

starlight I agree that you don't necessarily need a changing bag but I found the last time I was looking for a nice decent sized handbag that it wasn't very easy to find one with a long enough strap to go over buggy handles and also with a few pockets. So limiting my search to changing bags made it a slightly easier job.
Goldie I'm not in London, I'm in North Hants but am going to Southampton on Tuesday so will look there for bags in general.

I like Katie too but dh doesn't. Boo

eandz · 25/07/2008 21:18

thanks sass...

have you ever met/had a Noah in any of your classes?

jenpet · 25/07/2008 21:28

I think Noah is great too, it's one of those names you can't really pigeon-hole the person when you are hear it....we are still really struggling with something which sounds a bit English and a bit French. Top of the list is still Samuel. But it feels a bit boring. Quite unusual over here, but not in the UK I think? Anyway, had an appt. at the hossie yeserday & the obst. told me to rest up a bit as I'm already 1cm dilated, which was a suprise...is this normal?? According to his calculation I'm 35+2. Well, DH has taken DS off camping for a week, so I intend to spend the whole week catching up on novels and on here....

eandz · 25/07/2008 21:34

jenpet,
what do you think of emanuelle? i knew a boy named that once and he was the sweetest person ever.

problem with my mil is that she cooks for us on a weekly basis as well as given us the gift of £13k to clear off all our debts before baby is born and then has made a real effort to make sure my parents/family aren't too intrusive and imposing with my drug addicted brother during this pregnancy. she likes the name ishmaeil and namir...but she is saying that she'll just have to get used to 'noah' if she has to.

potxola · 25/07/2008 21:52

Sassafrass glad the worry is over and I also like the name Katie.

Starlight Glad you are happy with the bargains

I have the Pampers free changing bag from Boots, a huge M&P (bought 4 years on the sale) old one I am using as hospital baby bag and a rucksack (also from a sale from Mothercare) changing bag that I used with my ds. I would love to buy a Skip hop one, but I don't see the need to spend that money.
I will use the rucksack when I carry Lorea in the sling and the others if I need to hang it from the pushchair. No very glamorous, city chick and all that, but I am just a mum, a BF one.
