Starlight I thought of you when I saw the discount. I remembered you talking about the slings and snugglenest. Excellent!

Sassafrass · 25/07/2008 11:13

Phew, the gtt test is all done. I gagged on the drink but managed to keep it down. Sitting and waiting for two hours in a hot waiting room with heartburn and being very hungry wasnt much fun. I've got an appointment with the fetal health unit this afternoon to discuss the results so at least I get to find out quite soon.

eandz · 25/07/2008 11:13

ooh, i got my snugglenest the other day!! so should i still get a moses basket to leave him in while i shower?

lollyheart · 25/07/2008 11:20

Lollipop

I really dont no if was a show or not it looked like one im seeing the mw on monday i will ask what she thinks. ds was born at 38 weeks so im hoping this one will be early

lollipopmother · 25/07/2008 11:28

How long have you got still to go Lollyheart?

My fingers are well swollen today, I've been getting swolen ankles a lot recently too but I'm pretty sure it's the heat, they always go down overnight. Anyone else suffering from the heat?

imoscarsmum · 25/07/2008 11:49

Lollipop i got about 2 hours of sleep last night due to the heat and my pain in the arse congested nose!!!

We have a fan but the noise keeps me awake, so that's off and I have to re-apply Vicks vapour rub to my nose every night otherwise I can't breathe through my nose. Breathing through my mouth makes me very dry. So I end up waking up every hour or so feeling breathless and unable to breathe. I've tried sitting up to sleep but it's so uncomfortable.
A hot night at 3am feels very claustrophobic.
You are not alone!

lollyheart · 25/07/2008 11:50

Im 33 weeks so about 7 weeks to go im hoping he stays put for at least another 4 weeks. im sure i will still be pregnant in 9 weeks time i think because ds was early its in my head this one will be early to but i no it dont always work that way.

the heat is really getting to me im so tired and im all swollen to.

i hope its not to hot on sunday im going to the nick jr jump up i cant wait anyone else going to that?

I LOVE the heat too. Being a Caribbean girl, I can have it like this all year round and never complain.

potxola · 25/07/2008 12:19

I am too finding difficult to sleep here in Devon, I just don't cover myself. Kiskidee you are in the wrong country: you could have it like this all year round!!!!!

Sassafrass I am sure is nothing. It is just a hasle. I had to go through it with my ds at 34 weeks, because he was very big and the mw panicked. I have a mw visit next week and I bet she asks me to to a GT as well, because this baby is also big.

I have just bought from Blooming M. the autofade bedside lamp. It is great for nights feeds and Lorea will use it when she is older as a normal lamp because you can regulate the light. Lovely price too.

potxola · 25/07/2008 12:28

eanz You don't have any toddlers around who can try to pick up the baby, so it is not vital you buy a moses basket. Do you have a pram? you can always leave the baby there while you go to the bathroom with some sort of mobile hanging from it.

lollyheart · 25/07/2008 12:39

Post has just been still nothing about my ma so i rang them they recived my claim on the 4th june and its not even been looked at yet they are going to chase it up for me im just happy they recived it i really thought it got lost in the post phew.

Sunshinemummy · 25/07/2008 14:14

Hi all - haven't posted for a while as been in and out of work and when I have been in I've been mega busy. Only three days plus rest of today left though - hurrah!

I saw the obstetrician last week and I will be having Baloo on 26th August. I'll update the list accordingly. Am very excited now I have my date. One great thing my consultant mentioned was that, if I go into labour naturally beforehand, I can still try for a VBAC if I want. He's been so great - really keen to allow me to make decisions based on relevant info, rather than force me down one route or another.

Also, had breastfeeding workshop yesterday with NCT counsellor, which was also fantastic. One things she mentioned to me, which I'd never heard of before, was that I was on a hiding to nothing even trying to BF DS because of the retained placenta. Apparently, even a tiny piece of retained placenta (and mine wasn't small) will keep producing the hormone that stops you producing milk. No wonder I had such problems.

She also talked about a new approach to BF called Biological Nurturing. It's where you do skin to skin with the baby and let them crawl to the breast themselves. Apparently 3 out of 5 babies can get the hang of this quite easily. It sounds fantastic and worth trying for me as I really hated the whole forcing thing the midwives did last time so I won't be letting them do that this time (despite what it says in my hospital notes).

C&W also do not provide formula. I'm going to take some along in my hospital bag. Not trying to be defeatist up front, but do want to have all my options open so I don't feel the pressure I felt last time around.

DebitheScot · 25/07/2008 14:19

imoscarsmum I'm thinking an OiOi maybe. They do 3 different ones in the giraffe but not the Hobo style which is I think what I might go for.
They are here giraffe bags

I like the giraffe style too but think out of the Hobo (why would you call a bag range that??) range I'd go for the one with the dark circles here or this one here

I'd quite like to see them in real life though to see what the material is like. Don't know if anywhere stocks them.

Sunshinemummy · 25/07/2008 14:43

Debi I have the OiOi Messenger. I believe the material is similar to that wipe clean vinyl that Prada bags always used to be. I love mine and used it all the time when DS was little. I intend to use it with this one too.

DebitheScot · 25/07/2008 14:48

so sunshine does it look like a £60 bag? And does it still look good? I'm guessing it must still be fine if you're using it with number 2. I thought £60 was a lot to spend on a changing bag but have discovered that actually it's not. Is the messenger quite big? The Hobo looks a bit smaller so wondering if it'll be big enough. Mind you I don't generally carry too much crap around with me.
I hadn't realised the world of changing bags was so complicated!

Sunshinemummy · 25/07/2008 14:56

I think it's been definitely worth it (was £50 when I bought it for DS two years ago). The Messenger fits loads in it. I used to carry round:

  • bottles
  • nappies
  • wipes
  • nappy bags
  • food
  • cutlery
  • disposable bibs
  • change of clothes
  • sippy cup
  • dummies
  • portable changing mat (comes with bag)

Plus my own stuff and it all fit in no problems. I replenished at the end of each day so I could just grab the bag and leave the next day.

eandz · 25/07/2008 15:29

hmm baby bags.

i got one i intended to use as a baby bag but the closer i get to practical thinking i realize it's not going to work.

so my mother in law doesn't like the names: Noah or Adam and wants to name our son Ishmael. I really like the woman, but theres no way in hell I'm naming my son Ishmael.

mamamufin · 25/07/2008 15:31

Hi guys

I received my changing bag in the post this morning. Its a storksac Elizabeth tan and fab. Its my birthday present and will last for years. I was so excited I have even packed it ready for my first outing with euan. I have also packed in mine nappy cream, teddy, muslim ssquare, santitory towels, hand gel and a spare vest and baby grow. Gosh I am by my organisation.
Thanks for the bargin tip pot I am going to see if there are any slings left now. lolli I thought shows had a bit of pinky in them .
Gosh its hot loving the frozen desrets too. Happy friday again girls xx

Sunshinemummy · 25/07/2008 15:32

Oh yes muslin squares and antibacterial hand gel also went in mine.

bogie · 25/07/2008 15:32

Ishmael makes me think of armish people i like Noah I think you should use that

Sunshinemummy · 25/07/2008 15:34

Eandz this is exactly the reason we keep our names to ourselves until the baby is here. Everyone has an opinion.
