OMG, I just caught sight of my thighs in a mirror - I thought my (non maternity) wrap dress was knee length, but it's about 3 inches above the knee due to the bump, and my thighs are the most enormous enormous enormous blobby blob things! How embarrassing...

lollipopmother · 01/08/2008 15:25

Hopefully - My thighs are bobbly and also rub together quite significantly, totally gross, I can't wait to get on a diet even though I expect I never will. I think the worry of being stuck looking like I am is worse than the prospect of the stitches at the moment!

Notcitrus I'm very envious of you being able to eat Museli, I can't even look at the bag without getting crippling heartburn, it's undoubtedly the worst thing for it at the moment.

DebitheScot · 01/08/2008 15:31

Am I silly to think about going away for 1 night when I'll be 37 weeks pg? Only down to Longleat which is about 1 and half hours away.

DebitheScot · 01/08/2008 15:34

I've started to think about putting all the hosp bag things in the same place rather than scattered around the house like they were. I've thrown some things into a Tesco jute bag including the 6 pairs of pants I got for £2 from Asda today. Cheaper and far comfier than those horrid disposable things and I can just throw them out if when they get minging.

DebitheScot · 01/08/2008 15:35

that if was meant to be if not if

imoscarsmum · 01/08/2008 15:50

Hello all
Just got back from seeing mw and all is OK up to a point. Urine clear (good), flumpet's hearbeat strong (v good) but I'm measuring 37cm at 33 weeks - although i measured 37cm at 31 weeks too! I think it's just me being flabby.

Bad thing was my bp is up again, 140 over 92 snd she was a bit concerned. I feel fine and have to say I'm impressed cos rather than bundling me back to the day clinic, she's arranged for a mw to come take my bp at home on Sunday - how's that for service!!

She said it's likely that LO isn't going to be a scrap of a thing (gulp.....)

mamamufin · 01/08/2008 15:51

I can not handle museli at the moment either.
deb We are thinking of going away for a few days at 37 weeks- Not too far. I think its a great idea just take your notes and bag with you in case.
I am hoping a newborn and a toddler is easier than being heavily pregnant with a toddler. . I really hope so!

LittleConnie · 01/08/2008 16:18

Debi i'm going to wedding in Scotland for a couple of nights at 37 weeks which involves 4 and a half hours on the train each way! If I've got any major signs that things are imminent then I won't go, but it's a close friend and really don't want to miss it. Will be packing the hospital bag just in case...

MummyToOneForNow · 01/08/2008 17:11

carrieon - I second your comment that stitches aren't necessarily too bad - I had a local anaesthetic for mine and didn't even notice the male doctor doing them - was too absorbed in looking at my gorgeous daughter! Will be asking for anaesthetic again if I need stitches this time round.

notcitrus · 01/08/2008 17:52

Deb - MrNC and I have just booked a convention for 3 nights for when I turn 38 weeks!
The organisers have said we can have a refund if we don't make it. I'll have my notes with me and I checked the rep of the local maternity units...

MrNC insisted on taking the car rather than train though - I figured the train would be faster and be easier for regular peeing, but he convinced me that we'd have a bag each, plus me in the wheelchair, plus the hospital bag, birthing ball and car seat, and then it would also be a lot easier to get me to Leicester General or home or to a doc if necessary.

So just need to plan a route via loads of service stations. And as I learnt when I had previous medical problems, wear a long loose skirt and no pants, for easy emergency pitstops!

Sorry, that was probably TMI...

eandz · 01/08/2008 19:36

being able to get a refund for the conference sounds like SUCH a relief! what kinda conference is it?

kiskidee · 01/08/2008 21:00

hi everyone:

I've been to my hydrotherapy class today and then had to get some stuff at Sainsbo's. I was so shattered when I got home I had a nap!

Been in a lot of pain with the spd. Can't wait to get in my birth pool - not that I have ordered it yet!

Anyone first timer who is really worried about labour itself, I recommend Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin. The first part of the book contains accounts of about twenty positive birthing experiences which helps to put your mind at ease of what a woman's body is capable of. Along the way, there are some good ideas to implement into your own labour.

Hi all,

new to the thread but also due in Sept 08, so eager to join the race!

I've been going through the messages and at risk of sounding like a real idiot, I gotta ask: what is DS and DD?

Nice to meet you all!

potxola · 01/08/2008 21:16

Sassafrass Let me know please what dosage of arnica you will be taking 200C 60C or 30C?

Pitufina · 01/08/2008 21:44

pacita DS and DD mean dear son and dear daughter. If you get stuck with any more, there's an acronym list that might help: www.mumsnet.com/acronyms.html

lollyheart · 01/08/2008 21:46

Welcome Pacita

DD is darling daughter ans DS is darling son?

Is this your 1st dc darling child? do you know the sex?

Ihope i have not got that wrong

eandz · 01/08/2008 21:47

ooh pitufina, i haven't read anything posted by you for ages! how are you?

welcome pacita!

Sassafrass · 01/08/2008 21:59

Potxola, I'm going to take the 200c. I haven't actually talked to homeopathist but from all the reading I've done and things I've been told by other mums, that seems to be the best dosage. I'll start talking it a couple of days before the c-section and then continue for a week or two.

lollipopmother · 01/08/2008 21:59

Debbie - I won't be putting off doing things at 37 weeks, 1.5hrs is nothing to travel I don't think, as long as someone else is driving you'll manage to get home if anything happens.

Pitufina · 01/08/2008 22:04

Hello eandz! I'm alright thank you. Exhausted and big! My husband's been away for two weeks and it's been difficult looking after our son (3 1/2) on my own.
Plus, the buyers for our house pulled out!! So we're back to square one. We'd already signed everything for the house we were buying and all that was left was the exchange. So that fell through. Was very upset (of course) but decided not to worry about it as it would only get me stressed hence possibly affect the baby too. And of course all of this happened with my husband away.
It's taken me ages to catch up with what everyone has said. I still haven't even thought of packing my hospital bag. I thought I'd be moving into the new house next week and then starting to organise things. But it looks like I'll have to think of it now. I'll wait for my husband to get back tomorrow and send him up into the attic to get baby things down.
Sorry, this has turned into a bit of a long one!

Pitufina · 01/08/2008 22:07

Oh, and alking of doing mad things late on in pregnancy... we're going away to the Lake District for a week at the end of august. I'll be 36 weeks. It was mean to be camping but decided that would be too much, so it's a static caravan for us!

Pitufina · 01/08/2008 22:08

can't type tonight!! talking (not alking) and meant to (not mean to).

pacita · 01/08/2008 22:42

thanks, lollyheart - it all makes sense now!

It's a boy, due on the 25th of September. How about you?

eandz · 01/08/2008 23:37
