TwilightSurfer · 25/07/2008 14:32

VG has a point.

TwilightSurfer · 25/07/2008 14:32

LOL oh yes Dizzy have them do that.

poppysocks · 25/07/2008 14:32

Hi Dizzy - good to 'see' you. I find sometimes it's easier to worry about/concentrate on the littler things...

My goodness me ChaCha. That set up sounds amazing - toddler heaven!

I actually think having the date this time, combined with that my only track record in childbirth was v. late, we're really not engaging with the idea that the baby, technically, could come any time (partic. as she seems to be engaged). No bag packed, no childcare sorted for DD etc. Never mind. 99% sure it will be fine!

longwayfromhome · 25/07/2008 14:35

Thanks. A material mattress protector for the cot mattress which can go in the wash sounds like a sensible idea and then just to have plenty of clean sheets. Sounds possible. Cool.

PS winter here now, a very pleasant 16 degrees.

dizzydixies · 25/07/2008 14:36

poppy am the same, no bag packed, ordered a mattress for moses basket as other one has geon walkies - its the wrong size, no room for aunt to stay when she comes up, house is a fecking tip - am considering splurging on cleaners to come and do a deep clean

am just hoing I don't need anything before Tues as thats when I plan on panicking and getting it all done

miamla · 25/07/2008 14:36

i've abandoned my tuby grip too but now my back's hurting, quel dilema!

its really not silly to worry about what shoes you're going to wear. sounds like your brother had the perfect solution to your dilema, so sweet of him

poppysocks · 25/07/2008 14:37

At least you have a reason for not being prepared Dizzy! If I can help with anything, please, please shout.

dizzydixies · 25/07/2008 14:38

miamla it was bless him, I think he got the idea from a death message asking people to wear bright colours only and ran with it

my dad put a really lovely announcement in the herald and dundee courier - am so very proud of him and how well he's doing

although a rather worrying amount of whisky/red wine and temezapam is being consumed

dizzydixies · 25/07/2008 14:38

poppy thank you I do appreciate it honestly and I will do

VintageGardenia · 25/07/2008 14:48

One more oar to shove in, dizzy - if you can manage it, DO DO DO get a cleaner to come in and give your house the once-over. It will make things less stressful for you with visitors etc and when the baby comes, one mammoth clean which you your dh and girls will then just be maintaining.

miamla · 25/07/2008 14:53

here's another vote for getting a cleaner in. there are far more important things you should be doing with your time at the moment than the cleaning for example, having lovely cuddles with your DDs and DH

dizzydixies · 25/07/2008 14:56

have just phoned my lovely community midwife (the lovely lovely one remember?) and had a complete wobble down the phone at her - she must think I'm demented - anyway, she's away to phone the hospital and find out all my options for next week

am not sure I can cope with burying my mum on Mon and having a baby on Wed

sounds ridiclious I know as I won't have a choice when baby comes if nature takes its course, am just not sure about anything anymore

PetitFilou1 · 25/07/2008 15:03

dizzy GET THE CLEANER and that is an order.

Sounds very sensible gathering your options for having dc3 and as for losing it down the phone - it would be weird if you weren't wobbly at this stage. You sound remarkably calm to me.

PetitFilou1 · 25/07/2008 15:07

Btw my dad did the same re the alcohol - it was only a year later when he got told he had high bp and high cholesterol that he realised he needed to calm it down (thankfully as I had been about to talk to him about it). Your dad needs to be careful though as the combination of the temezapam and the booze is not a good one - he could easily overdo it by accident.

dizzydixies · 25/07/2008 15:08

petit not to worry we've been keeping a close eye on him

am off to look up cleaners in yell now

PetitFilou1 · 25/07/2008 15:17

dizzy Sorry I'm sure you have been keeping an eye on him (I hope I didn't sound too patronising) - just thinking of what my own dad went through. He's on Prozac these days which he says is great - but has always had anxiety/depression.

Glad you are going for the cleaner. It will be expensive but will make you feel great and take a weight off your mind.

PetitFilou1 · 25/07/2008 15:17

Obviously great considering the situation (oh dear I think I better go and stop putting my foot in my mouth)...

OP posts:
miamla · 25/07/2008 15:23

dizzy i can't even begin to imagine what you're going through at the moment but I do understand it must feel like a difficult position to be in re your mum's funeral on Monday and having your baby on Wednesday. I'm not sure if its going to help you or not but here's my story. My grandfather (mum's dad) died two days after we "made" Pip. I told my mum about her becoming a grandma whilst we were visiting his grave. Gee, sounds strange typing it out but at the time it seemed right. Kind of like my grandfather was making room in the world of us to bring in a new life. It was of course still an incredibly sad time for everyone but it helped knowing that there was a new beginning starting inside me.

i'm constantly in an old pairr of primark pumpd. sooooo comfy and only just cover my toes so no need for wide fit, even without ankles!

was meant to be induced tomorrow night but baby's head not far enough down, so it would be too risky. i have till monday to get it lower. goig back to cons who said if it's just a tad lower he'kll induce me monday so am currently bouncing on ball, squatting and have anthems of trance on whilst cleaning and scrubbing floors so dancing as i go. tis v.v.v. hot, i'm still in my pj's but allowing my self to get all hot and sweaty dancing and generally cleaning then going to have a nice cool shower!

Why am i having another child when it's so nic to have time to my mself??

PetitFilou1 · 25/07/2008 15:37

Bealcain I've had the same thought - who knows what the answer is

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 25/07/2008 15:43

lol pf no foot in mouth at all

sazz you don't think topless is an option then

bealcain up and down the stairs sideways too - will help 'open' pelvis

lovely LOVELY midwife has phoned back, has spoken to lovely consultant who has said i don't need to go in on Wed if am not ready and he is willing to do it on the thurs or week after if necessary (sorry to muck up your stats TS)

I know its possibly only a day difference but it will mean I can relax slightly and spend some time with the girls who I feel I haven't seen in ages

he is also the consultant I wanted to do the section as he is more inclined to do a natural section at my request

lovely LOVELY (have I mentioned she's lovely) midwife has told me she is on duty all weekend and all I have to do is phone her even if I just want a chat

isn't the kindness of strangers such a wonderful thing, am not sure I could have got through all this without you lot and the support am getting in RL

cannot thank you all enough

TwilightSurfer · 25/07/2008 15:49

Dizzy the stats are no problem. Whenever you set your date is fine. You've got more important things to worry over.

stillhere · 25/07/2008 15:51

Just checking in very quickly as I've been offline for a day or two and now have an impatient and hot toddler in front of me demanding we get onto www.kneebouncers.com...

Dizzy - so sorry to hear about your loss and thinking of you. It's hard to know what else to say, but you know everyone's rooting for you here.

ALBS - CONGRATULATIONS! on the birth of Henry - fantastic news.

Will check in again soonish...
