moosemama · 08/09/2008 16:14

Hi all

Well DS2 ran off for his first full day at school without even a backward glance. He was so excited that he even forgot to give me a kiss goodbye and I had to call him back!

I think its down to his brother telling him all about the lovely puddings they get at school dinners!

I thought I was going to be ok, but then made the mistake of looking at one of the other Mums and we both filled up and choked back the tears! Mum came with me this morning and took me out for a coffee rather than coming back to an empty house, so that was a nice distraction. (Still shed a few tears when I was eventually on my own though.)

Just collected them both, felt really weird walking to school at 3.00 without him. He came out happy as larry, with the only gripe being that his big brother runs too fast at playtime!

Ray, congratulations on your degree, but sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly and down, hope the doctor is able to help.

Chocsolot · 08/09/2008 20:32

rray sorry you are not feeling too good an sorry you are going to miss your graduation

I am feeling really rough today, hve been up since 2am and verything feels as if it has fallen onto my pelvic floor muscles, its really horrid and uncomfortable, hope i sleep better tonight...... Hope we all do

rrrayray · 08/09/2008 20:56

moosemama Scary to think of my little Bean going to school one day.... I know you'll miss having your baby around- but at least you have another little bundle on the way to occupy your time!

Thanks for all your get well wishes. Doctor was utterly useless. I couldn't get an appointment with my regular doctor, so i had to see one i've never seen. Which i didn't think was an issue.

He obviously hadn't even brought my notes up on Screen as until i mentioned i was pregnant, he didn't even know anything. He then asked me if i had booked into the system..... Doh.... At 20 weeks, Yes i bloody have!

Anyway i left without ANY answers. He basically Didn't know why i have no less than FOUR lumps in my neck, couldn't explain my constantly Cold/Sore throat, Spots, Coldsores or anything. i might aswell have not gone. He didn't perscribe me anything.....

Simply said if i was working to take some time off to Rest. Now the way things have worked with me graduating, then us deciding to start a family means i'm lucky enough to not be working. So his advice to Rest and Drink lots of water was pretty silly based on the fact i have ALL day to rest should i want (i never do, i love cooking, cleaning and gardening too much) and my massive Thirst at the moment Means i drink about a pint of water every 10 mins.

I'm def going to miss my Graduation
....but i'm also going to go and see MY doctor tomorrow - for some sense!!!

Am curled up with OH on our comfy couch, With our First wood fire this year - its Cold tonight here, Brrrr.... Plus, any excuse to get Cosy!!!

EachPeachPearMum · 08/09/2008 21:01

Hi all- sorry, this thread fell off my active convos too many other threads methinks!

Well, I was too upset to post last week- had scan and all is well/healthy, but they didn't tell us the gender. I really got the feeling they wouldn't tell us- our trust don't tell a lot of asian couples, it was an asian sonographer, and we have a really odd (indian sounding) surname. I am just very annoyed about it- I really need to know, for myself, to get stuff sorted etc. I haven't room in our bedroom for a crib/cot for all DD's outgrown things- I want to know if I can get rid! Grrr.

I have the numb arm thing too- I find that my boobs press right on the pressure point in my upper arm, so they go numb- had this last time round too... had conveniently forgotten it!

rrrayray · 08/09/2008 21:08

EachpeachpearMum Thanks for the baby whisperer Advice! Must have jogged your memory to come back on here.

Am i reading your post right? They wont tell you the gender of your baby because your Asian/ have an odd/indian sounding surname??? Thats Absurd!!!! Is there anything you can do about it? See your GP? Complain to your midwife??

If not, how much are private scans in your area? I know near us in Ipswich you can have a Gender Scan from 22 weeks for about £80. Alot of money.....but if its a necessity for you to know

EachPeachPearMum · 08/09/2008 21:17

well- I can't prove that the sonographer could/couldn't tell the gender... but they certainly smirked when they told us, which peed me off, as she knew I was desperate to know! Baby had their (very long) legs fully extended and kicking around, its not as if they were crossed over the genitals or anything. DH has mediterranean colouring (could pass for Italian, Greek, or Egyptian), and I know that recent press coverage has been very critical of Asian couples in our area seeking termination after being told the gender.

Am going to have a private one I think... but its £185 at our nearest clinic, am looking for alternatives.

rrrayray · 08/09/2008 21:33

Eachpeachpearmum i am disgusted at the idea that they wouldn't tell you because of the way you look & the idea that asian couples.....no...any couple could terminate based on gender. Especially so far along.

I have always been VERY anti abortion, with perhaps the exception of rape victims and done at a VERY early stage, but the last few weeks sitting here, thinking about our bean and feeling it kick makes me sick to the stomach that is possible to abort still. Grr.

£185.... Thats bonkers.... I'd definately look into some other clinics, perhaps even moving further afield, the petrol/train fare to somewhere else with a lower fee would probarly even be worth it. Where about in the country are you EPPM?

rrrayray · 08/09/2008 21:38

OOPs... that could be seen as confussing i mean in the same instance- Ie, someone who is a rape victim and has the abortion done VERY early.

Not just someone who does it early. Grr again

rrrayray · 08/09/2008 21:42

Eachpeachpearmum I've just checked, and a 2D sexing Scan in Ipswich is £45 on a friday, and £55 the rest of the week.

Say your in London or something, even the train far (prob eaiset way) to get there for you & OH would amount to MUCH less than the over £100 price difference!!! I think the train is about an hour from London Liverpool St.

EachPeachPearMum · 08/09/2008 22:11

LOL- am in midlands, I'm sure I'll find something cheaper. Train to london for each of us would eat up the saving tbh!

Well- I am lucky, I am white mc so I rarely have to put up with discrimination of any sort- just makes you feel and for those who experience it on a day-to-day basis, as obviously some people do.

And its not Asian couples per se, of course, just some people who would terminate their pg if it didn't suit their family. I am completely in favour of a woman's right to choose- I just find it very sad that some people decide on that course of action for reasons that seem far more trivial than others.
I appreciate that to them it may not be a trivial reason. If you had been a truly oppressed woman, would you not hope for the very best for your child, and if that meant being a boy?

Don't think that I could do it at this stage personally, even for a disability, though first time I would have seriously doubted our ability to cope with severe SN.

rrrayray · 08/09/2008 22:30

Ah. midlands bit of a trek. i'm sure you'll find something- £185 seems OTT.

i don't think i could personally do it for a disability, but i don't think its for me, or anyone else to frown on anyone elses choices RE: that. Abortion is such a tricky, emmotionally charged topic.

Talking of doing and not doing things in pregnancy whilst out for lunch on saturday there was an obviously pregnant woman on the opposite table, must have been pushing 30 weeks- decent sized bump. Who ploughed through MORE than a bottle of wine to herself. Could not believe my eyes! Sorry, but i simply cannot understand those who cannot give up the tipple, or at least reasonably limit their drink for their little bubba!!

Wow, i am really touching on the Controversial tonight!

Right, off to Watch the Murrary Match in bed... Although doubt i'll be awake beyond the end of the first set!

tinkhasanactivebean · 09/09/2008 09:42

morning
sorry for not finding out gender eachppp
we didnt either as baby was being awkward we are having a private 3-d scan in portsmouth for £65 as we are desperate to find out gender 2

moosemama · 09/09/2008 09:43

Eachpeach, we are in the midlands too. Could you get to Solihull? We had our 4d scan last time and early scan this time done at 'MUMS' they are in the centre of Solihull and charge £85.00 for a sexing only scan. here The clinic has a really good reputation and is run by 2 obs consultants from the local hospital.

Chocsolot, hope you had a better nights sleep. I didn't, hips and pelvis so painful had to resort to paracetamol just to get a couple of hours. Am totally exhausted today and now look like a drowned rat thanks to the very very wet school run. At least I don't have to go out again at 11.30 to fetch DS2, much as I miss him, I don't miss three trips to the school and back every day, especially when the weather is like this.

Am going to spend today costing some baby stuff, comparing ebay to high street prices and putting together a budget. I think it might help me relax a bit to know exactly what spend we are looking at.

moosemama · 09/09/2008 09:44

Apologies for the very poor punctuation and grammar.

Usually preview my messages but am too tired.

EachPeachPearMum · 09/09/2008 10:45

Oh moosemama thankyou- we're v close to Solihull actually
They also say that if they can't tell on your visit which gender, then you have a rescan free of charge on another day, which is reassuring!

And you know...everyone looks like a drowned rat at the moment!

Baby stuff, yeah, I suppose we'll have to sort some out soon... this pg going much quicker than the last one... 18 weeks left

fymandbean · 09/09/2008 11:33

morning all - I'm really looking forward to my scan but it's not until 26th

I think it'll be a boy - can't wait to find out!

fymandbean · 09/09/2008 11:34

oh and I'm 20 weeks today

rrrayray · 09/09/2008 12:28

fymandbean seems some of us are getting late scans! mine is on the 23rd- Also sure its a boy!!!

But Essex Trust don't sex babies, so going to have to book a private scan once got (hopeful) green light from anomoly scan.

Yes, i too have been a drowned rat. Although today, when i'm ill, it seems to be glorious sunshine! What a lovely graduation day.Sniff Sniff.

My goodness, its only just over 15 weeks till Christmas.... Once chrismtas arrives... its almost baby time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(shame on me for Christmas popping into my head!)

rrrayray · 09/09/2008 13:26

qumps · 09/09/2008 13:56

i think i am going mental and someone is out to get me and make my life hell.
taken to hospital this morning in an ambulance as woke up, walked around bed and then back completely went. dh managed to get me onto bed while i was hysterically in pain and then after ringing nhs direct and doctors was advised to ring ambulance. after more hysterics to get up was offered gas and air (serious flashbacks to first birth) and then carried downstairs in chair and whisked off to hospital. apparently my back has locked due to loose ligaments. they have sent me home with paracetamol and have physio appointment tomorrow. can't sit and currently standing typing this as supposed to keep moving.
could anything else go wrong in this pregnancy? is someone trying to tell me something?

tinkhasanactivebean · 09/09/2008 14:03
