Hi rrrayray i've been the same, it isn't that there has been one thing that has been hurting or stopping me from sleeping I just can't seem to get a comfortable, decent nights sleep. I also don't feel stressed and am generally not in the least bit domestic, but often when I wake up in the morning I can't settle and get the urge to get up and do something productive like cleaning the oven even though i'm totally knackered. It is probably just hormones, but we bought some better pillows and a fan and it made a big difference last night.

rrrayray · 31/08/2008 17:42

misshairspray
Oh my goodness... thats exactly the same. i got up this morning despite feeling exhusted to put all the sheets in the wash! I am constantly Cleaning despite feeling so tired all the time. Something in me wont let me just lay down and sleep on the couch or something........ I'm Buzzing around, despite running on empty sleep wise!!!
I think i'm going to get one of those massive maternity pillow things tomorrow and try snuggling on that, and a relaxing bath before bed or something......... I'm poop-ed!

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend & enjoyed the sunshine (sorry those of you who havent had it) Had to drag OH out for a walk by the beach earlier, he was in the living room with the curtains closed watching a film. Had the throw the "could be the last nice day this summer" line in!

missjackson · 31/08/2008 19:00

rrayray I can't remember the last time I slept right the way thru the night like I used to! I just seem to wake up every 2 hours or so. I think having a hot bath and trying to chill out a bit first does help. And I've stopped reading pregnancy books last thing at night!

moosemama · 31/08/2008 19:06

Hi

I'm afraid its par for the course to have broken sleep during pregnancy. I had very little sleep with both the boys and this one is much the same. I read somewhere that its because your metabolism is working faster - don't know how true that is, but it seems to fit.

I'm a demon without my sleep as well, DH and the boys have really noticed how much shorter my fuse is.

The keeping busy and extra cleaning thing is the same for me too. Last week I kept forgetting to have breakfast as I started doing housework as soon as I got downstairs. I really felt it in the afternoons though, I'd had it by 2/3 o'clock.

I'm also getting frustrated by how much less I'm getting done than usual, despite feeling like I've climbed a mountain. Mind you I think part of that is all the extra cleaning etc on top of chasing round after the boys. I'm hoping I'll feel better and be able to pace myself a bit more when they go back to school on Wednesday.

(Still a bit that DS2 starts full time a week on Monday though, am going to miss him so much during the day.)

qumps · 31/08/2008 19:33

def par for the course i am afraid. maybe natures way of getting you ready for baby's arrival? i have been on school hols but back full time tomorrow and seriously don't know how i am going to cope without lunchtime nap when ds asleep. might have to sneak into car!
mind you lack of sleep last night to be blamed on husband who came home drunk and then tried to wee in my bedside drawer....
glad weekend over and wednesday seems a bit nearer. house is immaculate as i have been keeping busy.
moosemama bless you. think with the extra rest how much you will look forward to him coming home.

moosemama · 31/08/2008 20:02

Thanks qumps.

He is such a character and a non-stop talker (like his Mum ). It's going to be awfully quiet around here!

Ah well, will have to make the most of our afternoons together on Wednesday and Friday this week. (Midwife on Thursday afternoon.)

Have been sat sewing name-tapes all afternoon today, used iron on last year and they all washed off eventually, so that while I had morning sickness DH managed to dress them half in each other's uniforms! Interesting trouser lengths when I went to collect them from school - not to mention pants on inside out, or upside down or even sideways (don't ask) and shoes on the wrong feet.

Am planning to restart my walking schedule when they are both full time as I find walking in my MBTs really helps to stave off the dreaded SPD. It will be nice to be able to walk at a reasonable pace for a change instead of having to race back to get DS2 from nursery at 11.30.

tinkhasanacrobatic · 01/09/2008 08:46

morning

sorry to hear that people havent been sleeping well i never have problems in that department.
qumps lol @ dh or not so dh

i am knackered now.

dd starts nursery wed going to being doing mon,wed and fri mornings

off to mothercare this morning to spend the last bit of her bday money

poorbuthappy · 01/09/2008 10:24

Morning all!

Back from hols, glad to be home (back in work) for a rest!

Had anomoly scan last Thursday and confirmed that they are both girls...so bring on the pink!

Hope everyone is well...I'm on the countdown now to 24 weeks which is when I am going to let myself start to buy things...only 2 1/2 weeks to go!

rrrayray · 01/09/2008 10:58

qumps Laughing at Dh... although sure you were steaming at the time. a freind of mine's dh did a similar thing recently, and when asked what he was doing replied with a are you stupid tone "well, i'm having a wee of course." Totally thought he was at the toilet. It was a carpet, and needless to say she had him scrubbing for days to makesure the wee smell didn't stick around.

One of my friends kindly told me that the sleep deprivation starts now with not being able to sleep and cleaning too much, and only goes downhill from here to when the baby arrives. So i guess maybe my body is subconiously getting me geared up for the lack of sleep motherhood brings!!!

moosemama · 01/09/2008 12:17

He he he! A friend of mine's DH always wees in her handbag when he gets drunk. She has taken to hiding it when he goes out!

I think I always sober DH up with one of my special disapproving faces as he comes through the door. He tends to just cook an entire bag of peas then cover them in cheese, eat the lot and pass out on the sofa! (Weird my DH is!)

Congratulations on the finding out they are both girls poorbuthappy. I haven't started buying yet either, but have been looking around and am gearing myself up for it. Need to buy more now I know I need girl stuff as the few bits I have in the loft are for boys and all my friends and relatives only seem to have boy stuff to pass down.

tinkhasanacrobatic · 01/09/2008 12:42

great news pbh about your girls

rrrayray · 01/09/2008 12:49

Peas and Cheese? Well much healthier than a kebab, thats for sure!

my OH has given up drinking until our bean gets here.... so no wee-ing anywhere for me at the moment! Thank goodness.

I havent started buying either, only one cream winter suit, i think once we find out the sex the buying will start..............and never stop! uh-oh.

tinkhasanacrobatic · 01/09/2008 15:57

excatly i have just got a white sleepsuit, cream fleecy hat with ears and cream pooh bear booties cant wait to find out gender than bring on pink or blue

poorbuthappy · 01/09/2008 16:02

I am pleased they are girls, but I think hubby is about to move into the garage - he will be in a house with 4 women, 5 if you count the dog. Not sure what sex the fish are...

He's been cleaning the garage out today, sorry reorganising it...before he goes back to school on Wednesday so I won't be surprised if I end up in bed on my own tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, I love the way we are say, oh no I haven't started buying yet, well apart from the odd sleepsuit / socks / vests - delete as applicable! What purchase makes it official that you are buying for baby???

MEL2005 - you can't answer this question cos I know that you are ultra organised and have everything already!

rrrayray · 01/09/2008 16:39

oh yes and i got some VERY cute little booties, with 100% cute on the bottom, and then 50% mummy and 50% Daddy on each shoe! Too cute!

poorbunny i think i/we meant we have bought the Odd neutral thing.... bring on the sex and all sorts of cute clothing..........!!!

For those of you who already know your having girls, i went into Zara in bluewater with my friend with a 5 week old little girl today, and couldnt get over HOW cute the new Autumn baby girls range was. Bought her little girl this grey wooly "cape" thing...... Tooooooooo cute!!

MissHairspray · 01/09/2008 16:40

Well we haven't really started buying, I mean apart from 3x7 sets of sleeper suits, two really cute babygrows, a jacket and a snowsuit. Oh, and some muslin squares which according to my baby book are a must buy, but my mum looked at me like I was barmy ('just use a tea towel') and my dad wanted to use them for straining soup. MIL however has enough clothes, nappies, changing accessories etc to last until baby is about 3.
Oh and DH went out today and came back with a cardboard book of 'Each Peach Pear Plum' which I had said I loved when I was little and wanted to read to our kids so I was v. chuffed with that. Even brought a little tear to my eye.
I also have a bit of a mamas and papas obsession at the moment, I have their catalogues and am lusting after all of the nursery stuff but it is sooo expensive! We can barely even afford a sofa let alone a solid oak wardrobe for £600. I can dream though...

Congrats on the girls poor I bet your dh will love it

fourlittlefeet · 01/09/2008 16:41

hello, just back from hols too. also sleeping badly. think its partly to do with not breathing as well, something to do with mucous membranes that swell during pregnancy, so you feel more tired in the morning. the good thing about it is... well its not really a good thing, but you'll be so used to having no sleep by the time the baby arrives, you won't really notice that part as extra hassle, just par for the course as you've been waking every four hours for months!

North Norfolk was absolutely gorgeous, can totally recommend it!

moosemama · 01/09/2008 16:48

I'm finding 'girl' clothes a bit daunting tbh. The boys were dressed mainly in white sleepsuits and jackets for the first few weeks and I think I might end up doing the same this time, purely because I don't know where to start!

I do know I don't want to do 'pretty in pink' though. I'm not against pink, in fact it's one of my favourite colours, but a lot of what I've seen for newborn girls seems to be pink and/or cream and all a bit to, well, girly for me. I'm happy to have a bit of pink but just not an overwhelming sea of it.

My family think I've gone bonkers. I think they assumed after two boys I'd be desperate to buy pink.

Spink · 01/09/2008 19:25

evening!! hope you're all relaxing and being cooked for ;)
anyone seen the thread on AIBU about pg posters being cut slack? Made me lol and gasp in equal measure...

here in spinkhouse we're all recovering from a nasty cold, ridiculously mucusy and making horrible snorting noises (mainly dh honest). can I join the exhausted list? how nice would it be to be a squirrel, bedding down for the winter..

Anyway.
Ooh, buying things! We've worked out that we are broke, and all we are buying is a chest of drawers to put pip's stuff in, and a few new white sleepsuits (I LOVE THEM) - other than that it is handmedowns from ds.. ( I STILL can't believe the sonographer that we're having a girl so any new stuff will be neutral - luckily we didn't know we were having a boy with ds so all his early stuff is neutral anyway)
I guess we'll get a buggy and a sling we can use from newborn, but won't do that til I'm in the 3rd trim...

LenniEd · 01/09/2008 20:12

Moosemama/Spink - do you want to swap some clothes?? Had scan today and we're having a boy - shock horror! I've got lots of not so girly pink things as was anti-full-on-pink myself but have to admit it grew on me, DD has had quite a bit of pink really, but a lot of other colours too. If you do fancy doing a bit of a swap let me know.

We're broke too really - one income syndrome - so have asked for practical things for Christmas for the new baby. Just need a bed for it (sorry that should be him now shouldn't it), and clothes. Most other things can be passed on from DD, but when you start thinking on it its incredible how much stuff is pink and girly, even though I always tried to buy neutrals in case we had a boy after. A lot of her cot bedding, sleeping bags, towels etc. are either pink or very floral arrggghhh!!! And that's before I start thinking about her toys!

elkiedee · 01/09/2008 21:38

I'm probably going to leave most of the shopping I do need to do until the last minute, I would do it about a month before but not when that month's December, and we'll be away at Christmas anyway!

I will see if there's anything irrestible at the nearly new sales this autumn though. There's usually very little in DS's size and lots of cute very new baby clothes.

rrrayray · 01/09/2008 22:01

Ahhhhhhhhh i'm so jealous of you ladies all knowing your gender! i'm not sure why my 20 scan is at 23 weeks, i think its because the hospitial is Small, and they only scan on a Tuesday...... Itching to know!

moosemama · 01/09/2008 22:57

Congratulations on finding out you are having a boy LenniEd!

I gave a lot of our stuff away to a shelter for women who have suffered domestic abuse. We have a few bags still up in the loft, but not sure what's in them - will get DH to have a look.

We are totally broke too, just been bemoaning how this will be our last baby and we are going to have to do everything on the cheap. Spent the evening trawling through our finances with DH - thoroughly depressing. We had been planning on using DH's bonus to get us through Christmas and buying the baby stuff, but now it looks like his company won't be paying any bonuses out.

tinkhashadherfirstkick · 02/09/2008 09:08

morning

i am @ you ladies knowing gender 2 why do i always have an awkward bean @ 20wk scan they couldnt tell with dd either.
roll on 4th of oct for 3-d scan then we will know

we have been selling bits on ebay so that i can buy quinny buzz have enough money now so will be buying that in nov. have bought a few white and cream bits. after scan will buy a couple of gender related outfits. then just need a cot for bean.

dd has her first day @ nursery tomorrow cant believe it

Chocsolot · 02/09/2008 13:47

Sorry not logged in for a couple of days so just catching up......

qumps, really sorry to hear about your scan, hope you are keeping well, and best of luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

rrrayray plus all others, I am right there with you about the sleep thing, brought a mothercare pillow just over a week ago and slept better for a couple of nights because i could get more comfortable, think it has had a growth spurt again though because I haven't slept hardly at all the last few nights and i fully wake up whenever i turn over... then of course need the loo! I read a really helpful comment somewhere that said the broken sleep in pregnancy is supposed to prepare you for motherhood - how bad is that.... because sleepless nights won't come soon enough!

We did a checklist of everything we needed at the weekend, had the shock of our life and now feel broke too, we are looking through for the best prices on everything so we can take a list to the baby show with us and see if we can get any bargaining there done to beat it, it is apparently very good for that. We have decided that we will only get a few white new born clothes too.... sleep suits and vests mainly and hope that all our lovely friends and family will want to buy baby clothes once its born! Suddenly the whole american baby shower thing doesn't seem such a bad idea afterall!

I am so envious of all of you who know what you are having, we always said we wanted the suprise, and i still do, but i am so intreigued I am not sure i will make it.
