it is hard missj to know whether it is baby you can feel or not

Chocsolot · 21/08/2008 17:13

Also MissHairspray i went to a backs and babies class last week at our hospital and they said pelvis pains are caused by the ligaments in the front and back of your pelvis relaxing ready for birth (apparently starts to happen around weeks 12-16 even though it isn't needed until week 40!) this means the two parts of the pelvis move more and can rub together and cause pain apparently. They suggested taking smaller slower steps when walking, sitting with your feet together not crossed, sleepgin with a pillow between your legs, trying not to twist when you get into and out of cars or walk up stairs.... basically just keeping your pelvis straight as much as possible, its obviously all easier said than done in day to day life but i have become more aware of it and it is seeming to help me a bit. Hope you feel better soon

Chocsolot · 21/08/2008 17:14

Thank you missjackson, thats what my husband said... did think i should keep my rage in check after that.....

elkiedee · 21/08/2008 17:39

I was offered a seat at the next stop after I got on this morning (usually there are trains from my station so I can easily get a seat but none this am). But it was by an older (not old) woman who must have a memory of what it's like, I think.

And someone at work asked me this afternoon, maybe I'm starting to show or maybe she's heard something - my boss's boss guessed a few weeks ago when she saw me looking exhausted in the kitchen.

Time to go and stand on a packed train now.

chefswife · 22/08/2008 07:25

i've not any problem getting a seat on the bus as where i get on the bus, there is no one. i think though i might if it were busy because looking around at people, everyone is quite portly and i just look like i am fat not pregnant.

anyhow. lots of grins here still. lots of kicking. started drinking milk after many many years. violet goes crazy after a glass.

fourlittlefeet · 22/08/2008 11:07

I've got a colleague who said he'd rather see a pregnant woman stand than a fat woman cry

Chocsolot · 22/08/2008 14:25

I am so tired today, does anyone else find that come friday everythgin just begins to ache and they feel so washed out.... role on the long weekend!

mppaw · 22/08/2008 14:46

New to MN..but saw this thread and am due 18th Jan 09 with DC2. So nice to read others experiencing what I am...esp the baby moving comments. My mum is the only person who believes me when I say the baby is moving...Hope you all dont mind me gatecrashing....

Chocsolot · 22/08/2008 15:00

Hi mppaw not atall, welcome, i am due 16th Jan so we are very close.

I can feel it move but can't feel specific kicks or anythign yet, i think i can only feel it when it completely shifts position, i am sure i will covert these times when it is kickign me to bits in a few weeks time

mppaw · 22/08/2008 15:04

Agree, no kicks or anything, just thinks happening in there...even though DC2, still feels odd. Is this your first Chocs ?

missjackson · 22/08/2008 23:21

Same due date as me, mppaw, welcome!

Had a really long day at work today, having started at 6am, and as the day wore on I became aware of what I can only describe as a 'pressure' down there. I am slightly worried already about a second trimester miscarriage as my mum had three with an 'incompetent cervix' (don't you just hate that term?!) and I had heard it can be hereditary. Anyway, decided at 8pm to call the midwife, who said I should go to the labour ward -- ended up waiting there for 2 hours as the doctors were doing a caesarean, but eventually one of them got to me (practically asleep by this point), had a look at my cervix and said it was all fine and that I should go home and stop worrying... very relieved.

Came out to find I had a £60 parking fine as I had misread the notice -- baby brain!

Anyway, am not going to feel bad about it because the whole episode did put my mind at rest. The doctor did say I should take things a bit easier though, as it was probably all the rushing around that had brought about the strange feeling.

Going to bed now! Good night everyone x

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 23/08/2008 09:58

morning hope everyone is well

MissHairspray · 23/08/2008 10:29

Go chocsolot! I don't have the nerve, I just stick my bump out instead and look saintly. In fact, I am actually feeling great at the moment and don't actually need a seat but it is the principle of the thing.

Welcome mppaw i've been having proper kicks and quakes for the past two weeks but i'm due on 7th Jan so a bit ahead of you.

Have a good weekend everyone

mel2005 · 23/08/2008 12:59

if any of you know that you are having a girl, this car seat is a bargain
www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_857_10751_-1__16162_10001_
i have just bought the black ones for £79.99, but they are usually £120. i dont know what my two are yet.
they are a great car seat, rated the top car seat for safety by which?. i had one for my last baby and it was lightweight and easy to fit. now they do bases so they just click in and out (you dont have to use a base and have to buy the bases seperately)
i have this fabric in my little girls stage 1 tobi car seat an its lovely.

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 23/08/2008 13:33

when i was pregnant with dd i was getting the train to work went on maternity leave @ 32wks was getting to much with all the travelling and train was always packed.
we had that car seat for dd it is brillant that pink flowery one is so cute
we had the black one.
going to get my quinny buzz from kiddicare as cheaper on there. also want to get adaptors so i can put car seat on frame. kiddicare do a raincover and footmuff for maxi cosi which i think is great especially rain cover as didnt have one for dd and kept getting wet.

My DD is 2 and a half...will be 6 weeks off of 3 when DC2 comes along !!
Kiddicare is great, we got loads of stuff off of there as it is so much cheaper than anywhere else.

Shanster · 24/08/2008 02:27

Hello Ladies, I have been lurking and not posting for a while, gald to see everyone is doing well. We had our 20 week scan on Tuesday and found out we're having a wee girl. I am very excited!!! Started to look for a pram today and came across an interesting alterbatuve to the bugaboo...does anyone have experience with the Teutonica Range of strollers? I was quite impressed, but I had never heard of them until today when there was a model at the pram shop.

Thanks!

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 24/08/2008 08:31

MsSparkle · 24/08/2008 16:20

Welcome mppaw

Shanster congrats on finding out you are having a girl. They are a blessing

Does anyone else get a stitch type feeling in their lower tummy? I get it really bad when i walk anywhere and last night had to stop having sex because the pain was so bad!

I remember getting a stitch with dd but in the later stages rather than at just 21 weeks which is what i am now.

mppaw · 24/08/2008 20:31

Oh MsSparkle, I get a really tight feeling in the lower of part of my stomach when I walk...use it as a good excuse to have a rest and let DP look after DD...tee hee .
Hi Shanster, Congrats on the scan result. Have not heard of these strollers, but they look nice. I will be recycling my bugaboo, but you never know I might have to buy new Blue fabric for it !!
Our scan is not til 19th September, I will 2 days off of 23 week. We are not finding out what we are having, although DD keeps on about a baby sister !!

ScaredOfEverything · 24/08/2008 21:47

Hey ladies. Teutonia is a German brand. Is very common on the continent. I think it is the one I am going to go for! I hadnt seen it in the UK before.

Shanster · 24/08/2008 23:31

Thanks for the info ladies, think I'm going to treat myself to the Teutonia. It is so exciting now that I know the sex, I can really start shopping and getting prepared. We are going to start getting the house ready next weekend, DH has to give up his study to make way for the baby room...which he is taking surprisingly well!!
