I think i'm going to be OK pregnancy wise, the fashion over the last few years as left me with many smock type tops that i think will do me well for a good while. It was just a good pair of maternity jeans that don't look like a sack of potatoes that i fancied investing in. I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Fourlittlefeet, very nice of your consultant to not breeze over it and take the time. i'm sure it makes the whole caboodle a little easier. Enjoy the hols.... i fancy a sunshine break myself!

MsSparkle · 20/08/2008 12:25

Maternity clothes do vary alot don't they. I imagine it's quite annoying if you order online and have to send stuff back.

I saw my midwife yesterday. The baby is fine, a little wriggler in fact! Me though, my midwife is concerned i could be developing anti-natal depression I have to see her in a few weeks to see how i feel.

I'm glad everyones ok

tinkisnearlyhalfway · 20/08/2008 13:22

hi ms sparkle

hope that you are ok?
glad midwife went well
look after yourself

missjackson · 20/08/2008 14:59

I'm finally beginning to get a bump, yey! (rather than just looking fat). Haven't seen OH for a couple of weeks, so that will be a nice surprise for him -- he probably won't notice though.

Bought maternity jeans ages ago on ebay, but not going to buy anything else until I really have to as like some of you I have tons of smock tops and wrap dresses that will keep me going.

Finally got a day off work today, and just got back from 2 hours reflexology and indian head massage, feeling soooo relaxed and about to go back to sleep.... can highly recommend it for anyone else feeling a bit exhausted.

booksgalore hols on sat sound good

Chocsolot · 20/08/2008 16:50

rrrayray i got some fab jeans from Bloming Marvelous a couple of weeks ago, really comfy and quite flattering (some i saw were soo skinny - i wouldn't have got into them before being preggers let alone now!) and they were only £29, given i already live in them when out of work i figured that is an abolute bargain!

I loved maternity clothes shopping, they are like designed to flattter all the bumps you usually try to hide, its great

LenniEd · 20/08/2008 17:08

MsSparkle I also had AND with last pregnancy - hope you are ok, excellent advice from books there. Also worth mentioning that I didn't have PND, in fact quite the opposite, was absolutely fine after the birht, no baby blues at all. Would type more but rushing out, look after yourself, and remember its the hormones.

i am sooooo giggly lately. its really rather funny. i get these bouts of 'corpsing', a term used in theatre when you can't stop laughing. am i going a little bit crazy? ah well, at least its fun.

got a big 100% A-OK from all my tests, blood and urine work and ultra sound, at the midwife appointment yesterday. she said she rarely sees everything come back so perfect. i said i must be a pretty boring patient as she has nothing really to discuss with me for the most part. i feel so innately confident its amazing me. life is so bloody fantastic! (this emoticon is what my face looks like for about 95% of the day.)

LooseyC · 20/08/2008 21:04

Evening all - Glad you are doing so well chefswife! And as has been said, look after yourself mssparkle.

I would be feeling absolutely great if I wasn't worried about depression too - not mine in this case but my mum who is bi-polar and is in hospital at the moment on the 'up' phase. It's been very difficult with more to come, just makes me look back wistfully at the time I found out I was pregnant and everything was fine and dandy!

And I'm very jealous of those who can feel movements, I'm 18w tomorrow and still not sure if I can or not. You'd think 2nd time around I would know but I just don't...

I've been in maternity clothes vitually since day 1 - and got a seat on the tube on saturday - horray!

MissHairspray · 20/08/2008 22:09

Loosey sorry to hear that, hope things are better soon. Same for you Msparkle.

I'm 20 weeks today and already feel huge. I've put on about 12 pounds but most of it is bump, with a bit extra on my bum and boobs. I realised I was waddling through m&s today so god knows what i'm going to be like full term. I have managed to finally get some nice maternity clothes though, mostly from topshop, and it does make a difference to how you feel about your shape having some stuff that fits properly.

Got my scan next week which will be good. I haven't actually seen a midwife or anyone since 10 weeks as they are too understaffed in our area, but babs has been making presence known by kicking away like mad so I am fairly chilled at the moment.

Chocsolot · 21/08/2008 10:21

Hi MissHairspray i have a fab waddle too, and have put on 13lbs so far (dared to weight myself at the weekend!), its actually quite nice not to be dieting!

Good luck for scan next week

tinkisnearlyhalfway · 21/08/2008 11:47

Chocsolot · 21/08/2008 13:03

tinks being under 9 stone and saying you are huge is a real oxymoron I am afraid, not sure i buy the huge bit!

stripeywoollenhat · 21/08/2008 13:36

hi all
i'm totally nonplussed by maternity clothes, but running out of time to fuss as my ordinary clothes get tighter by the day... we are off to france for a week tomorrow - hurrah! - packing should be easy, whatever still fits...

dp felt the small one kick last night for the first time - huge grins all round

EachPeachPearMum · 21/08/2008 14:06

Too much talking going on! Can't keep up
Am still very tired, but no more nausea thank goodness.
Lots of little kicks going on.

tinkisnearlyhalfway · 21/08/2008 14:39

ok chocolot i have a petite frame and a huge bump lol
very exciting stripey we are due more or less the same day i am the 15th must get dh to try and feel baby more often
and exciting for yo each peach sorry you feel really tired

stripeywoollenhat · 21/08/2008 15:29

tink the kicks are mostly pretty gentle but every so often s/he gives me one that makes me jump. not even half way, so i 'm a bit scared that s/he'll be beating merry hell out of my insides before january. but it is really exciting, and dp was really pleased

Chocsolot · 21/08/2008 15:45

tinks fair enough, am secretly very jealous, am almost 6ft! All my sisters are tiny (under 5"2) with beautiful samll frames, I htink i must be the milkmans or something!

I have to say I am getting quite proud of my bump though I have decided, it gets you seats on trains and everything

I htink i feel it move now, not specific kicks yet but definate movement, DH gets quite annoyed when i wake him up to tell him!

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 21/08/2008 16:27

lol i am 5ft2ins size 10

MissHairspray · 21/08/2008 16:35

Hi Tink, good luck for your scan too.
Chocsolot I was hoping I would get a seat on the tube the other day, but when the guy on crutches next to me had to stand I realised there is no hope.

I've been having lots of pains in my left side today, from about half way up and then shooting down in to my pelvis and butt cheek and under my bump a bit. I'm hoping this is just ligament/back pain and a bit of rest will sort it but its hard to know what's normal and what isn't sometimes, especially as this is my first pg.

Chocsolot · 21/08/2008 17:00

MissHairspray That is awful... that happened to me the other week, two of us got on at waterloo and were both obviously pregnant, i got a seat and she didn't and after a stop a guy on crutches stood up for her, I was so appalled (hormones obviously not in check and was still getting morning sickness) that I turned to the guy next to me (who had looked her up and down twice) and asked him if he was not even slightly ashamed of himself, i said i thought it was disgraceful that he was sat in a priority seat and left it for a man on crutches to give his seat up for a pregnant lady! The whole carraige looked sheepish and the poor man on crutches looked so embarrassed! Couldn't help myself though, it gets me so annoyed. I have mastered rubbing the bump and maintaining eye contact with people until they feel so uncomfortable they give in, only do it to people sat on priority seats with a sign behind them tellign them they should be prepared to give up their seat to pregnant ladies.... they deserve to be made to feel guilty! It works wonders have got a seat every mornign for the last 3 weeks! I do travel in quite early though so i think that helps.

missjackson · 21/08/2008 17:08

chocsolot hooray for your tube-rage; I always get so cross at ignorant people who pretend not to have seen the pregnant lady/ old man/ guy on crutches get on. Be careful though, you never know what nutters you are talking to!

I still haven't felt any movement (nearly 19 weeks) but am not worried -- just wondering if every twinge might be something; I expect once I do feel something, I'll realise it was going on for ages!
