elkiedee · 07/08/2008 15:32

I think I've had some of those sort of pains 2nd time around too.

largeginandtonic · 07/08/2008 20:42

Tink how was the midwife?

Ray nice to have you back

Am shattered, took all the children to a museum today, mostly outside. They held spy missions and all sorts mucho good fun. Not great carting grumpy 3 year old wilting in the heat and the baby round though not to mention a bump!

Tis lovely weather here so very happy, all the kids can play out! Hooray.

Have midwife next week, feels like forever since i saw her. Am 17+4 today, tme flies.

Hope the rest of are ok. Weird stabbing belly button pains sounds familiar from my earlier pregnancies. Clearly my womb is wobbly elastic as i have had no direct pains this time just general aches and a draggng feeling.

rrrayray · 07/08/2008 21:27

I am reassured to hear that Odd pains here and there are part and parcell of the whole Caboodle. I stupidly Told one of my friend (who has no kiddies) by text who FREAKED out and was ASTONISHED i wasn't Carting myself off to the hospitial.

Largeginandtonic - My hat off to you, i'm exhusted enough with bump, let alone 2 others to deal with. Have to say, the idea the OH has of 4 children in very quick sucession he can whistle for, this pregnancy has been so icky to date a single child sounds just lovely! ha!

largeginandtonic · 07/08/2008 22:09

Ah Ray if it was only 2 i would be laughing, best not forget the other 4...

Must go to bed, close tabs, close tabs

chefswife · 08/08/2008 06:33

yeah rrrayray and msjackson, those are growing pains, round ligament pains. i'm finding that as long as i keep up with my core exercises they aren't so bad.

welcome jamescagney upwind i don't think that my hip pain is the ligament pain. i think it has to do with only being able to lie either on my left or right on a not so good bed without any support for my legs. last night i got an extra pillow for between my legs and didn't have any spasms. i'm thinking of going to the chiropractor. my back and hips are so out of line and the yoga stretching just isn't cutting it anymore. not to mention the damn bed i'm sleeping on. i hate spring coil beds. argh!

chefswife · 08/08/2008 06:36

oh yeah and not to get tooooo personal but yesterday, while doing my kegel exercises, (those pelvic exercises we all are suppose to be doing now) i gave myself an unexpected orgasm... on the bus.

MrsMagpie · 08/08/2008 08:33

Wow! chefswife I'm so going to step up the effort with my exercises.... Where did I put that timetable.....

tinkisagracefulshamu · 08/08/2008 09:09

morning

midwife went great thanks heard hb happy baby, got all bloods back fine.
rray it is normal to have on and off movements @ the beginning
chefswife ohh er missus keep them up lol

tinkisagracefulshamu · 08/08/2008 09:10

i have just bought a neutral fleecy sleepsuit so far.
once i find out gender in 3 wks going to buy 2 newborn outfits

MrsMagpie · 08/08/2008 09:18

booksgalore I've been in touch with bravissimo and will let you know their response.

After being adamant that I wasn't going to find out the sex of my beanie. I've now changed my mind. I hate all the beige stuff that they say is gender neutral and I can't wait to start decorating the nursery. Anyone else done a 180?

missjackson · 08/08/2008 10:31

MrsMagpie agreed about the horrid neutral stuff -- gap has nice bright stripey unisex clothes though. My OH's brother has given us 2 massive bin bags of baby clothes from their two boys, so whether we have a boy or girl, I think they will be wearing mostly blue!

My OH's family only has boys no girls born since 1902 or something silly like that and I feel like this is a boy. But we are not going to get it confirmed although we have agreed to refer to him as a he from now on. Figure that if we do end up with a girl after all that, it will only be a lovely surprise...

chefswife am v impressed. Must do some of those exercises myself...

rrrayray · 08/08/2008 12:25

mrs magpie, i was sure i was going to find out sex, then decided not, then decided yes again. So i guess i've done a 360. I've bought one "neutral thing" which is super cute, but the rest i think is just a waste of time. There is always something in the design leaning towards girls or boys.

As for those exercises we all are suposed to be doing.... I've been doing nothing! i was Fit as a fiddle (gym 4 times a week) until about 6 weeks pregnant, but the sickness totally threw me. I was so ill and weak that OH banned me from exercising, and quite rightly, i had not enough energy to even walk up the stairs let alone exercise.

Going to try and get back on track now sickness is over. Not Gym, i don't think i'm going to be running again for a while... Swimming and i've ordered 2 DVS...
Davina's pre/post natal and a pregnancy pilates.

Fingers crossed i can muster the energy to get on and do something.

MissHairspray · 08/08/2008 12:28

Baby has really been kicking the past 24 hours - I thought at first I must be wrong as only 18 weeks and thought I should only feel flutters at the moment, but these are definite kicks - dh can feel it and I can even see it if I watch closely. It is excting!
We are going to find out the sex if we can, as I just think it will be easier to get used to having a baby if we know what it is.
We haven't bought too much ourselves but PILs have started buying anything they see on offer -already have enough nappies going up to toddler size!

MrsMagpie · 08/08/2008 13:21

Got a response back from Bravissimo. They want me to pass on their congratulations to everyone and although they have no plans for maternity clothing they are going to expand their nursing bras. And the lovely lady sent me these links. Aparently all the ladies in the office got together to compile the list.

Hmm Maybe not so lovely. I found lots of lovely things but turns out many of them are american sites. Ho Hum.

tinkisagracefulshamu · 08/08/2008 13:37

miss h getting kicks is exciting i love it when they kick

feedmenow · 08/08/2008 19:20

Have just read the last couple of pages and see that Chefswife HAS had an exciting day!! I think you should start a brand new thread about this to encorage pregnant ladies the world over to do their exercises!!

Wanted to ask about maternity bars. I know there have been conversations going on amongst you larger breasted ladies already but haven't managed to keep up with it! I want to get measured for maternity bras (don't need anywhere special as AM NOT one of said larger breasted ladies!) but don't really want to do Mothercare. in the past I have gone to department stores and got sports bras, but they all have big thick straps and aren't suitable under anything summery/feminine, etc. Where will I find a high street underwear shop that does maternity stuff?

And lastly, i got my triple test results in the post today and have a 1 in 8400 chance re. downs syndromw, so am pretty plesed about that!

chefswife · 08/08/2008 19:47

i use to run 4 days a week too before getting pregnant. actually, i was finding just finishing a mile was grueling until i got the BFP. i've tried to keep up with the stationary bike and some pilades and i just found a pre-natal yoga video i'm going to pick up. it's more the lack of motivation i'm suffering from. at least i walk to the store, about 30 minutes up and down a huge hillside. i'm sure that works off the brownie i eat every night now.

chefswife · 08/08/2008 19:53

i totally wanted to find out the sex of the baby but only for selfish reasons... i wanted to prove that i was right. well, i was wrong. we are having a girl and i went cruising around for some clothes yesterday and found a neat little shop wear an independent designer has these onesees with funny little pictures on them from skulls to tanks (all for girls too). one cute one was a bright pink camouflage that says 'you can't see me'. very cute.

we had names for a boy and girl picked out too. but it's great now because i say things to DH like 'violet and i would love a cup of tea... violet and i would love some chocolate cake...' it works great. she's already daddy's little girl.

rrrayray · 08/08/2008 20:42

chefswife..... thats so funny about violet and i wanting a cup of Tea. We're calling ours Bean still..... i think i might insist on bean wanting some things in the near future!

my goodness... does everyone but me go away on saturdays...

i should be working on an article but am completely obsessed with not being able to comprehend this damn acorn knitting stitch. oh life is hard, eh?

LenniEd · 09/08/2008 21:30

I've just sorted through all the baby gear here too - we've got loads of neutral newborn things and also on washable nappies so have dug those out too and they all look fine. All the baby gear itself looks ok - the car seat cover a bit musty but nothing a wash can't shift. Feels nice to see all the old things again, reminds me of DD being tiny.

Am glad now that I bought mainly neutrals at first for DD since it won't matter if we have a boy or a girl. Plus DD had reflux so being able to throw everything in the wash together was such a blessing when we were going through endless sets of clothes and bedding every day. Reflux is one thing I'd happily do without for this next one.

Anyone else feel like this will be their last pregnancy? I'm almost certain now that we'll stop at two - makes me feel quite sad in a way, but know its probably the right decision for us.

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 09/08/2008 22:53

I was always going to stop at one!
But yes, this will be my last pg
I hate being pg- I know its worth it blah blah blah, but its too long, and boring, and uncomfortable.

All my newb stuff is with a friend atm, so will have to ask for it all back!

missjackson · 09/08/2008 23:23

Oooh yes can we talk nappies now?! Has anyone used those tots bots reusables? They look soooo cute in their rainbow colours, but I guess no-one actually sees your baby's nappies once they are on and under the wrap.

Am I right in thinking you don't need to sterilise and disinfect or even soak nappies anymore? I can just about handle the idea of washing them!
