Hana I know what you mean about misspellings - they really bug me too, although not enough to start a whole thread about them!!

We could be really horrid and be:

Due Nov 2008 - Da Roool Brakers!!!! x x x

Pinkali37 · 29/07/2008 10:45

I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Love From Me xxxxxxxxxxxx

cricri · 29/07/2008 10:49

Thanks for all your advice about my pelvic pain. Ironically it's not been as bad today but that could be because I've been sitting down all morning so I'll see how it is later on. I've also had a cough over the past couple of days so perhaps that triggered it I'm seeing the mw next week when I'm back home so will mention it to her then and in the meantime will do my best to keep my legs together!
Off to the beach this afternoon Have a good day everybody.

vbab78 · 29/07/2008 11:23

THANKS everyone for your nice comments about my bump. I love my bump but would prefer to not have the stretch marks but one of those things i will just have to live with I guess.

Back to work today after having yesterday off sick. IT IS BOILING!!! We have aircon that doesn't work and we all have fans which arent doing a thing. It is cooler outside than in! I cant say I want to be at work anyway especially after a week off but to be sat in this heat is horrible.

MerryMarigold · 29/07/2008 12:39

It's gone all chilly here.

Talking of stretch marks, I found some across the top of my belly today - not seen them before! Never had them there with ds! (only along bottom and also on my bottom so it looked like I'd been whipped!). Using bio oil now so we shall see...

Am lovin 'Da rool brakers!!!!!!!!!!!' for the next thread title - not far to go now till it starts. Have to say, I could only bring myself to read 2 pages of the etiquette thread! (i think it's pronounced 'etty-kwett' by those who are bothered ). Mostly, I am not fussy, but 'hun' and 'lol' when overused do wind me up a teeeeeeny bit .

ChocoO, I don't think I had the full GTT as I didn't need to drink anything. It was just a fasting blood test. I'm sure your hospital is much more on the ball if they are actually offering you the test, and it is probably a lot better than my hospital. I am half asian too, my Mum has type 2 diabetes, my father-in-law has type 1, but they still would not have done it, had I not had 2 'borderline' prick tests and be expecting twins.

barbareebaa · 29/07/2008 13:17

Hi ladies!

Pinkyminky glad to hear you had a lovely holiday! Did you go to RHB? Was it very nice?? Not that I'm or anything!!

Merry Glad you've got your GTT appointment out of the way. Fasting during pregnancy must be the worst idea ever!

Vbab lovely bump

What's everyone looking forward to about having a wee baby?? I have a lovely friend who has been delighting in scaring me (I'm sure you know the kind of comments/ stories... not helpful)

Dozymare · 29/07/2008 13:18

Hey rool breakers..... I always was the rebel at skool I can't believe I am now on the naughty thread of MN! LOL LOL LOL (just for you Merry )

Now let's talk stretch marks - I was always very very smug that i didn't get SM with either of my pregnancies prior to this one until I was about 36 weeks with DS2 I happened to catch a glimpse of the underside of my belly - it looked like a water relief map! This PG i have them everywhere...top, bottom and side of bump...but what the heck, I ain't never going to be broadcasting my belly to the world again!!!!

how are we all today BTW?

vbab78 · 29/07/2008 13:40

TOO HOT, TIRED AND SLEEPY AND AT WORK!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 29/07/2008 13:48

hi all thanks for your good wishes. we had a great time, and yes we went to RHB, babar, and it was fab. we caught a pipe fish, lots of hermit crabs and variouus other little fish and crabs, the children absolutely loved it! DD is bonkers- she wanted to run into the breakers the whole time and wore poor DH out.

Cornwall- we go to Trewan Hall campsite which is really lovely- not commercial at all but it has baths, a heated pool and lovley play area. It's not far from Padstow, just inland a bit. I can't wait.

You are all going to hate me but I am one of those genetically lucky people who does not get stretch marks. The women in our family don't get very wrinkly either.

Merry- glad things are settling down for you, and hope you get a good deal on your pram. EveryoneI know who's had the mountain double has been very pleased with it.

ChocOrange05 · 29/07/2008 13:50

Merry how exciting that you are half and half too - or semi skimmed as I like to say . Where are your parents from? My dad is Indian (from Goa) and my mum is English. I have quite dark skin and my husband is a pale ginger covered in freckles so I'm quite curious as to how our child will turn out. Mean people keep saying it will look like Wes Brown (Manchester United footballer with dark skin and orange hair)!!

Barb I am looking forward to weekend mornings with three of us in the bed! Also buying lots of cute outfits in a colour other than white, cream or yellow!

Its gonna be all good!!

Vbab I am feeling knackered today too - just had a can of fat coke and it seems to have helped.

DM I am far too good to be a rebel so this way I get to be a secret one just on MN - how risque am I!?!?!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 29/07/2008 13:53

Drama this morning. I cleaned the whole house, floors the lot, whilst DH played with the children in the communal garden, they all came in, unfortunately DS had walked in cat poo and tramped it all over the house and on the armchair in the playroom -
Cat poo- of all things- just about the worst thing for toddlers and pregnant ladies! soo I've had to clean everything all overr again. oH the joys!

ChocOrange05 · 29/07/2008 14:10

Pinky On the bright side just think how extra clean everything must be now - you can leave it twice as long till the next one!

Dozymare · 29/07/2008 14:13

Pinkyminky welcome back! SOunds like you had a fabby time! Can;t believe your saga about cleaning and cat poo...you should get DH to clean it up seeing as he was in charge when it happened!!!

VBAB - poor you at work.....You have my sympathies but strange as this may sound, make the most of it as once this LO is here you will never ever have much time to just dsaydream at a desk!!!! Trust me on that one!!

Cricri - are oyu back did I read?

Off to the pool this pm, I must be mad but the boys are climbing the walls and need wearing out...

DM x

PInkyminkyohnooo · 29/07/2008 14:31

haha don't worry, DH was roped in to clean the shoes!

Choco- if only- there will be something else smeared all over the house in no time- I just hope it's juics and jam next time, not poo

I'd love to take mine to the pool but I can't manage the two of them on my own in the water. Hope you have a good time.

ChocOrange05 · 29/07/2008 14:43

Clever Ladies - I am wondering....

How long does baby stay in the moses basket for? I know this probably varies depending on baby size, but a general idea would help

I have also bought the Stokke cot and I need to buy a new mattress / sheets for it but that only lasts for 6 months so I don't know whether I need that stuff too if the moses basket would last that long?!?

Your help would be appreciated!!! x x x

PInkyminkyohnooo · 29/07/2008 14:49

Moses baskets won't last as long as a crib, depending on size of baby, but also rolling over- why does your cot only last 6 months- can you not lower the base? Normally they have a lower setting for once baby can pull him/herself up.

ChocOrange05 · 29/07/2008 14:55

Pinky the Stokke cot has extra pieces to expand it so it starts as a round mini-cot which is meant to last till 6 months and then you add more parts to make it into a bigger cot and then eventually convert it to a bed until they are 7. Its quite expensive upfront but it lasts a long time - although for us it was an ebay bargain!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 29/07/2008 15:02

Ah, I know the cot you mean- it's round/oval? I'm wondering if you could get away with using your carrycot with a good mattress instead of getting a moses basket as well, since the cot you have will be small, like a crib to start with?
I have always had a crib upstairs and a carrycot downstairs.

ChocOrange05 · 29/07/2008 15:09

Pinky I have always imagined having a moses basket so that was one of the first things we bought. Also I assume its quite useful to carry it around the house in case the baby is sleeping up or downstairs?? Our house has three floors, the nursery is on the second with the cot in it and then I was going to use the moses basket for sleeping in our room and downstairs in the daytime.

For those existing mums - when did you put the baby in the nursery on its own?? I have heard you should keep them with you for the first 6 months but has anyone done this?

Yorky · 29/07/2008 15:18

Hello all, sounds like you're all enjoying life
DS is asleep but coughing in his sleep
of your stokke cot ChocO, I think they're cool (Stokke stuff generally) but we were given a cot bed when I was 7wks PG with DS so didn't seem much point buying one after that! And DH was being very practical about the additional cost of special bedding etc [yawn]

Had a semi domestic goddess day today - kitchen is cleaner and washing basket empty for a change, but DS was up for 1.5hrs last night so I have to keep moving or nothing will happen and he'll spoend the day in front of Cbeebies!

Surely we'll have to make our next thread title Due in Naughty November - da rool brakers

Dozymare · 29/07/2008 15:20

Chocorange - i also envisaged using a moses basket and was also first thing I bought - now, don't want to shatter your illusions of motherhood, but my first DS was in for about a week as every time he fell asleep he would wake himself up when he did the random arm jerks that babies do.....DS2 was a little bit longer (maybe 6 weeks) and slept in it downstairs, but he was actually not able to settle due to busy, nosy 2 year old brother poking him every few minutes!!

I then put both of mine into their cots in their room for their daytime naps and slept in our room at night for the first few months.

I think you need to hae an open mind as the best laid plans prior to having a baby do go to pot!

Dozymare · 29/07/2008 15:20

AND HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR YOUR STOKKIE as we are thinknig of getting one!

(sorry for caps and spelling!)

DM x

Yorky · 29/07/2008 15:21

And yes ChocO, we kept DS in with us till he was 6 months old, we moved house and he got his own room then, definitely easier if you BF and I didn't find we disturbed him, I just liked watching him being asleep [soppy doting parent emoticon]
We also moved his cot back into our room when he was 11months old and had that horribly vicious D+V bug just before Christmas

ChocOrange05 · 29/07/2008 15:26

DM we got ours from eBay for £188.50 - it was second hand but looks in near perfect condition and we got all the bits to extend it to the Junior bed. I have noticed quite a few on ebay.

I know what you mean about the best laid plans - I am definitely a "go with the flow" kind of person (although I do like to be organised) so we have the moses basket and cot and I guess we'll have to play it by ear!
