Suildon I think I've got something similar. Its like a sore/ bruisey feeling and when I try to feel it with my hand I can't always locate it. I decided it might be my bra wiring digging in (bad non maternity bra badness) or something rib related. it's top left too

LackaDAISYcal · 23/07/2008 21:26

i'm going to ask someone from my PN thread to do it...or rope DH in. that way everyone is getting a secret sender. And rest assured that if DH does it, he wouldn't divulge my sender to me as he knows how infuriated I get with surprises. He starts teasing me about Christmas in October

Dozymare · 23/07/2008 21:27

actually could be the pressure of utertus moving up and pressing ribs.....I do remember that now you say it and there was me earlier waffling on about not remembering anything!

lacks how many of youa re meeting up then??! THAT is soooooo lovely.....

Dozymare · 23/07/2008 21:31

I had a lie-in today till 5am ! It's better than 2am yesterday. Thought the early waking had worn off as I got a couple of good nights in...

DM, I know what you mean about transverse babies. Mine were both transverse and it was really hard to bend. It's even harder if my tummy is bloated too (I've got IBS but also love my food too much to cut wheat and dairy out!). It's been a bit easier last week to bend, not sure if it is that tummy is behaving at the moment or they have moved. Have no idea, but scan at 26 weeks so will ask...and I will be checking up on my little gal for sure .

Cricri, didn't know you were in Ile de Re. Is that for a hol or do your parents live there? We went to La Rochelle for a daytrip when we were in France a month or so ago, and there was some LOVELY baby stuff in the shops but it was sooooooo pricey.

Suiledonn, Ireland is fine for me too! I can't wait to do secret stork. Obs, I was joking about you being my SS (I know s'posed to be secret) - but you are obviously putting a lot of thought into it!!

Dozy, I would be stressed to meet people in the flesh. How scary? I would be so shy! And petrified that no-one would like me!

cricri · 24/07/2008 07:26

Morning all!
I can't really tell which way baby is lying I am struggling a bit to bend over so perhaps it is transverse. At my last scan they said the head was up under my ribs so perhaps it's moved round. S/he is very active though!
MM My family on my mother's side is from Ile de Re and my gran and aunt live here so I'm staying in the family home. My Mum usually decamps to France for 6 weeks in the summer - might join her next year DH seems to be fine with that idea, he'll probably enjoy some peace and quiet La Rochelle is lovely - I always love wandering around there. Not sure I can summon up the energy this year though... Although it's not as hot today as it was yesterday fortunately.
DM My 4D scan is at Babybond too so I was pleased to read what a great experience you'd had.
It would be lovely to have a meet-up sometime! I'm meeting up with some MNters from another thread in September and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they're all like in the flesh. Although slightly apprehensive, as you say MM, as chatting online is not quite the same as chatting in person. I'm sure it will be good fun though

Dozymare · 24/07/2008 07:46

morning all - getting my morning fix of MN! DH was at a work do last night, god knows what time he got in, but there is a huge bunch of flowers on the table that he either a) found on the train or b) was "given" at the end of the event (which is what I suspect!

He is still slumbering despite being shouted called for at least 5 times!

Merry - the great thing I think is that we wouls all have something in common - babies born in November so at least if we all hated each other on sight, we would have plenty to talk about!

Cricri what babybond are you going to???? Are you just having the sex scan???

DM x

Oblomov · 24/07/2008 08:19

I like the sound of a PN thread.
And a meet up sounds nice. Mind you I am a bit freaked out by that. Who is our longest member ? Who has met the most MN people ? I Have been a member for about 4 years and never met anyone until I met Dozy. And I did love meeting her, and we had the fabb'est time. But I was shit scared before.
I have never wanted to go to a Xmas meet up or anything. I always liked my anonimity. But maybe it is time for me to get over this and go to a meet up.
And the Chez Oblomov is open to anyone who wishes to stay. Nothing spectacular. But right by Thorpe Park, for those that are interested.
Suiledonn, I have a pain top left. I just assumed it was wind/indegestion.

Tinkerisdead · 24/07/2008 08:33

Morning all, i have the decorator starting today on the nursery so im hoping hoping hoping its done by the weekend so i can start putting things away in there.

its too bloody hot and i cant stand it. i wanted to sleep in the garden but DH told me a fox would sniff me or a bat would get me.. would a fox really come up and sniff me???

Cant believe time is flying so fast, im getting a bit nervous about actually giving birth but im still finding it hard to envisage a baby in there. i keep wishing the time away so that movements are bigger and more definable. Maybe if i'd found out the gender i would find it a bit more real. think thats why im keen on nursery being finished as it reminds me its someones bedroom!! Not a load of dolls clothes etc which is how it feels. anyone else finding it all a bit surreal??

ceebee74 · 24/07/2008 08:33

Morning all

Crici - am of you being in France - I thik France is just lovely and keep trying to persuade to go on holiday there (no luck so far!!)

I have been to a few MN meet-ups and met some lovely people. I have made a really good friend through here - she has a DS who is similar age to mine - who I met at a meet-up about 18 months ago and we have stayed in touch (mainly through MSN) and we still meet up most school holidays, either with or without children. We also had a July 2006 PN meet-up about a year ago at Warwick Castle (it is kind of in the middle of the country) - only 4 of us made it in the end but it was so lovely to meet all these people who I have been chatting with for ages and to also meet all the babies - twas fab! I would definitely recommend meet-ups and, as Dozy said, you always have something to talk about with children around!

bubbaz · 24/07/2008 08:35

Morning All, I too would be happy to post to Ireland.
Love the idea of a meet up in the furture although like Merry would be scared stiff I am quite shy and I think I come across as a bit rude because I am quiet .
Suiledonn hope your pain has eased this morning.
I think I felt a bum this morning up at the top but I'm not sure - Its was def too big to be a limb.
Lacks have lovely holiday nd Cricri I am at yours .
I am at the MW today - when do they start measuring? I'm a little bit worried as my niece has been told she is too big for her dates she is 4 weeks further then me and I am much bigger! I was the same with DS though - they thought I was having a monster.
Hope everyone has a lovely day

bubbaz · 24/07/2008 08:37

Lol at Drs wife and the fox! I don't know the answer but it made me chuckle!

cricri · 24/07/2008 08:39

DM My scan is at Babybond in Chelmsford (nearest one to me). I'm definitely having the sex scan but not what other options yet. I know they have various "packages" but they said we could decide on the day. My Mum is coming along too and she can't wait.
Ceebee My DH hadn't really been to France until he met me but he's a total convert now He wants to retire here but I think he needs to learn a bit more French first rather than just relying on me to be his interpreter When the baby arrives hopefully he'll start picking up more when I'm talking to him/her (can't wait to find out sex just so I don't have to type that anymore!)

cricri · 24/07/2008 08:41

bubbaz Just seen your message. I was measured by MW for the first time last week at 25 weeks. She said they allowed a couple of centimetres of leeway either way so I'm sure you'll be find Hope it goes OK.

cricri · 24/07/2008 08:41

fine, not find!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/07/2008 08:45

I've been on MN for nealry three years and have met four ir five MNers in that time. Will meet many more soon though as it's the Yorkshire picnic on 15th August and then I'm off to London on the 20th to meet around 10 of my PN ladies.

Yorkshire picnic is in Roundhay Park Leeds for anyone who fancies a nice day out.

I have just ejected my breakfast this morning (from both ends ) and am being racked with horrible stomach cramps and my muscles feel all crampy and sore.....and I have a load of washing and ironing and packing for tomorrow as well as cleaning the kitchen form top to bottom. I just want to go back to bed

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 24/07/2008 08:48

Poor you Daisy being poorly. email me your ironing and i'll do it for you, i really enjoy it and mines all done. and you MN meet ups sound fab, let us know how they go.

bubbaz · 24/07/2008 08:50

Lacks how awful hope you feel better soon.
Thanks cricri I am 25 weeks today so it will prob be first measurement

suiledonn · 24/07/2008 09:32

Thanks everyone who said they don't mind posting to Ireland. I think it is ok for me to add my name to the stork list so.

My bump is feeling a lot better this morning. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I am so much more relaxed this time round about being pregnant that I am much more active than I was when I was expecting dd. I really wrapped myself in cotton wool last time but this time I am always chasing dd, dacing round the house and picking her up that I'm sure it is normal to feel a bit sore every now and then.

Just checked my dates (I keep loosing track) and I am 24 + 4 now. If we go ahead with the plan to review for induction at 38 weeks I could have less than 14 weeks to go!!!!!
Maybe that means I should be on the October board but I like it here so I am sticking around.

you are feeling so ill Lackadaisy. Hopefully it will pass soon.

ChocOrange05 · 24/07/2008 09:51

Morning all - I am very excited by all this talk of the third trimester! I am 26 weeks on Saturday (due on 1/11) so does that mean I am into the last tri??

Suiledonn I also don't mind Irish postage!

Daisy hope you feel better soon.

I think a PN meet up would be fun and we can all show off our LO's.

Had a MW appointment yesterday and officially registered myself as wanting a home birth - exciting stuff!!

Also, does anyone else have to have a glucose intolorence test for pregnancy diabetes?? I am half indian so its more common in people with Asian heritage which is why I have to go - but apparently you have to wait at the hospital for 2 hours!! Also, what does it mean if I do have it??

Have a good day all.

Oblomov · 24/07/2008 09:53

Sorry to hear lots of people feeling so rough.
Suiledonn, I feel like I shouldn't be here either. I bet they will c section me in Oct. They will never let me go till Nov 17th. I think I could be as early as mid Oct. But I'll stay here, if thats o.k. because I love it.

suiledonn · 24/07/2008 09:54

Chocorange - my sister did the diabetes test on all her pregnancies. You have to go to the hospital fasting. I think they take a blood test, then you drink a glucose drink, wait around and then have another blood test. You would be there for a couple of hours.
My sister's results were always negative but I think in a lot of cases you are just given a diet to follow but maybe put on meds if it is more serious.

suiledonn · 24/07/2008 09:56

Oblomov - I couldn't imagine joining another group now either. There is a great group of women on this thread.

Oblomov · 24/07/2008 10:02

ChocOrange, oh dear what a bugger.
Glucose tolerance test

"If the diagnosis is still unclear from these tests, a glucose tolerance test can be carried out.

A glucose drink is given containing a standard amount of glucose (75g). Blood samples are taken before the drink is given and two hours later. The test is done after an overnight fast.

A two-hour blood glucose level above 11.1mmol/l is a diagnosis of diabetes.

A level below 7.8mmol/l is normal.

If the level falls between these values, it suggests a decreased tolerance for glucose.

This is known as impaired glucose tolerance (IGT).

Impaired glucose tolerance is more than just a pre-diabetic state.

If so, there are lots of ladies with gestational on Mn, who can help.

And me of course. I think I am qualified to give basic advice on most areas of diabetes, after 34 years experience.
