I have a wrap style cape thing which will have to do me - by end of pregnancy am sure being too cold will not be a problem we'll have with all the extra bodyheat pregnancy generates!

sparkletoes · 18/07/2008 19:32

Enjoy your hols Pinkyminky!

Suliedonn & Misdee, sympathise with your colds they are such a pain esp when pregnant hope they go away soon!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/07/2008 20:05

Thanks sparkletoes! I have bought some colourful wellies to go with my waterproof coat- classic british summer holiday attire.

I have a poncho that I wear in winter, with a thick cardigan it does me fine.

sparkletoes · 18/07/2008 20:16

LOL yes british summer hols are less polka dot bikini and more polka dot wellies! Unless you are very lucky...

LackaDAISYcal · 18/07/2008 20:55

no need for a maternity coat.....you will have pretty good central heating by that time. I was going to get a long knitted cardi (or I might try knitting one myself)

gah, you lot can talk!

DH has just gone and got DD out of bed. She has been poorly still but seemed better as she actually ate some tea tonight after hardly any food since Wednesday. She has a streaming nose and eyes and is so tired and pale, but just won't give in to sleep and has been whinging and moaning for over an hour.

hiyer chaps!

just wanted to wish you all a lovely weekend - hope everyone's able to catch up on some zzzz's. It's no fun being tired!!

All fine here - little one is booting and wriggling - is lovely

take care

barbs xx

MerryMarigold · 19/07/2008 03:50

barbs, enjoy your weekends NOW. Once you have kids there will be no 'catching up on zzz's' for a looooong while!!!

All this housework. Man! I think I am everyone's dh's put together - drives my dh crazy and causes all sorts of rows as he sees SAHM as SAHCleaner (I look after ds, do all the cooking and shopping, all the washing and a certain amount of cleaning - and that is enough in my book). My dh is tidy freak, though not very clean sadly (we arranged for him to do all the hoovering last Jan and he has done it once! Suffice to say I have done it a few times ).

Coats - I have a huuuuuge, very thick cardigan I got in Asda last time I was pregnant. It was cheap. I bought a size 22 or something (I was a size 12!) and it was perfect to cover my very large bump. It's all bobbled, but it's still warm!

Have good weekends. I am being insomniac again! BAH! Got a busy day tomorrow and wanted to sleep. Gonna try again in 20 mins.

Dozymare · 19/07/2008 04:38

hmmmm.....my turn for very very early insomnia.......DH got up for a wee and woke me up...needless to say, he has safely been snoring for the past hour whilst I have been tossing and turning.......

off to read the thread now and catch up!!

Dozymare · 19/07/2008 04:53

As for maternity coat, I am with Pinky on that one - poncho;s are the way forward!!! Otherwise lots of layers with a gillet works for me!!

Oblomov · 19/07/2008 06:49

Congratulations Yorky.
Have a nice holiday Pinky.

ChocOrange05 · 19/07/2008 09:59

Morning all! I am very as despite the weather forecast of light showers the sun seems to be shining!! Its my birthday today and I am having a picnic in the park so the weather seems to be playing along for me!!

First birthday in a VERY long time I won't be out getting drunkard so a respectable daytime picnic for me!

Have a good weekend all. x

bubbaz · 19/07/2008 10:04

Happy Birthday Chocorange hope the weather stays nice for you!
Hope everyone else is OK and has a lovely weekend.x

Yorky · 19/07/2008 10:08

DS slept! After being mean the night before last and refusing to give him a bottle as the easiest way to get him back to sleep even though he's not waking cos he's hungry he cried at 10 as I was going to bed so I bonjelad him and he didn't get up till 5to7!!
Hope DD is feeling better soon lacka, its so tiring and frustrating when they just ant cuddles cos they feel yucky
Have a happy birthday ChocO, the book arrived safely a couple of days ago but I forgot to say.
As for coats agree with lacka, baby is good heating, DS was January and with him I found my fleece fitted us both in, even after he was born he went in his pouch and I zipped him in! Lovely and snuggly

barbareebaa · 19/07/2008 11:15

Happy birthday ChocOrange!! Have a loverly picnic!

Could I just ask... Is it disterous to sleep on your back? I am a side sleeper (normally) but I keep waking up on my back (?) But I've heard something about the circulation/ oxygen supply being cut off to the baby so a bit worried... What if I'd been like that for hours!! Or is it only a danger when the baby's bigger?

Hope that's not too silly a question

x

barbareebaa · 19/07/2008 11:16

Eh? disasterous!!

LackaDAISYcal · 19/07/2008 11:22

happy birthday chocorange

just dropping in quickly to say that I was pssing the mamas and papas shop earlier and they have a lovely cot bed reduced from £220 to £120...and also some deals on prams....the pliko prmaette full package had a third off. At least I think it was that model...brain very fuggy today. After not settling till 10, DD was up every hour on the hour and had to be cuddled back to sleep, then she got up at 3ish till 4:30 and was u again at 6. tempers are fraying in the lackadaisycal house this morning, but I escaped for a couple of hours to the next sale and gots lots of lovely blue stuff for the baby. I was very tempted by a cow print fleecy pramsuit, but it was only up to 1month......spent a small fortune, but it was half the small fortune I could have spent so bargains all round.

barbareebe, I keep waking on my back as well. did this with both DS and DD and they have turned out fine. I also think it's more important to stay on your side later on when the baby is bigger, but as any sort of rolling over is nigh on impossible then, it gets easier. Lying on your left side as much as possible is supposed to help with optimal positioning for labour and birth.

Happy Birthday Chocorange! The weather has been very changable here, I hope it holds out for you and I hope it stays dry here this afternoon so we can practice putting out tent up.

Barbarbee, I wouldn't worry about back sleeping. I know they say you shouldn't do it, but this is my 3rd baby, I have slept or woke on my back throughout with all 3 and they are fine! I find that I am not completely flat on my back, but kind of slightly on my side, or I sleep quite propped up so it is fine to be flat on the back.

Well, I started to feel well ropey by tea time yesterday. Heartburn kicked in with a vengance. I felt like I could feel all the excess acid sloshing around in there. I was awake until well after 3am. Dh has been to the chemist and brought me back some tablet things to try, I hope they work!

ceebee74 · 19/07/2008 12:52

Happy birthday Chocorange - hope the sun stays out for you

Congratulations Yorky - I LOVE the name - Jacob is one of my fave boy's names (I can't use it as DS's name begins with J and I don't want them to have the same initial!)

I often sleep on my back - not sure what else you can do when you are not concious!!

DS is in a right grump today - he has got a mild cold but has been stropping all morning!! Me and DH are optimistically putting it down to his cold but am starting to think the 'terrible twos' have hit with a vengeance!!

Maternity coat - hadn't even thought of that tbh - I didn't need one with DS but I think I am hoping my other coats will fit but I just won't do them up (I tend not to do coats up anyway) plus I have a thick long cardigan with one button just under the boobs so that should be ok aswell.

Off for a nap whilst my grumpy boy is having one

barbareebaa · 19/07/2008 13:32

Hello,

Thanks for the reassuring words about sleeping positions!! Thought I was being a bit daft Anyway, I won't fret about that any more!!

Heartmum sorry about your heartburn. I totally empathise. It hasn't stopped me from sleeping [yet] although I have woken up with it a few times. During the day eating seems to help - I'm sure that's why my bum and thighs have suddenly filled out Perhaps better get some tablets!!

Ceebee - enjoy your nap!!

coolkat · 19/07/2008 13:47

If anyone is lookin for a chunky knit for when it gets cooler do next sale on line and do not put a size in they had a nice one for £20.00 but only in S,L,XL.

Took ages to log on and after all of that I did not get anything, all the maternity tops I got the other week were all of course half price but felt fed up at the time and wanted them then that will teach me!
Was going to get a few size 14 t-shirts as I thought it would make BF easier after the birth but then thought may as well go to Primark until back in my normal size![hopeful emotion]

Anyway sorry for the ramble! Weather really wierd here daren't put the washing out as when it rains it pours.
Happy Birthday Choc gal enjoy your picnic.
Sorry DD poorly Lacka, horrrible when they are suffering.

Oblomov · 19/07/2008 14:35

Happy Birthday ChocOrange.
Just woken up from a nap. Talking of sleeping, I used to sleep on my back. But in pregnancy with ds, I slept on my side, slightly learning into bed, with top knee over onto the bed, which I think is the recommended position. And I have slept like it ever since.
The plasterer has finished. The worst is over. Hoorah. Dh has gone of to buy paint for the nursery. Dh says he doesn't like the word nursery.
I am going to have a bath and preen myself for tonight. I can't paint my toenails because I can't reach/bend over. But I will .... pluck eyebrows , put on makeup , put on dress. I am so looking forward to our Wedding Anniversary meal tonight.

barbareebaa · 19/07/2008 15:00

Oblomov Happy anniversary!! Hope you have a fab time tonight

LazyLinePainterJane · 19/07/2008 18:12

Hello all!

Have been a little absent recently, have been feeling so tired that I do nothing in the evenings but go to sleep! Yesterday, bed at 8pm! Am starting to feel uncomfortable, but on the plus side I can feel her kicking all the time. Am 24 weeks now and she seems to spend a lot of her time kicking straight down which is an AWFUL feeling (DS never did that), like my waters are about to go or something, I have to jiggle her around to make her move!

ceebee, did you find out the sex?

Dozymare · 19/07/2008 20:21

Hi all - busy few days for me with DS's birthday party...was lovely as the baby moved for the 1st time for DH to see from the outside...I had forgotten what that was like!!!! also, today was my big day for the private scan, and what can I say.......was 69 well spent as confirmed 100& we are having a girl............I have never had a private scan before and the difference between that and my NHS trust is unbelievable....it was a wonderful, detailed, relaxed experience and now I have total peace of mind...even though I was 70% sure, I still thought that 30% was to big a risk to take on throwing all boys stuff out.....At the clinic, they can tell you hambuger or hotdog - even got a picture to prove it....was amazing!! Took my mum as well, she was loving it! We then went to Next afterwards wehre I spent £22 and bought absolutely loads!!

Hjow is everyone today.....busy by the loks of it, as thread is very slow!! nOT LIke us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over and out

DM x

PInkyminkyohnooo · 19/07/2008 20:28

that is wonderful news, DM.
I was lucky with DD's dating scan as the somographer had a student with her, so spent ages showing and explaining everything, so very much like your experience today. We are pretty certain we have it right this time, too, otherw se will be sending you plenty of gilr stuff!i

lovely news for you
