Hi all, I'm sure I've missed loads in the lasst few days. There was a major fault with broadband in our area so no computer for a few days.

Does anyone know for sure what a trace of protein in a urine sample means? I had it at my last too check ups but the first time the tests didn't show anything and the nurse I saw on Tuesday said it to the doctor and she said it is nothing to worry about. It is bothering me a bit though because if it is nothing why is it there and why do they check for it? My sister says she thinks it it a sign of pre-eclampsia but my blood pressure is fine.

Tinkerisdead · 18/07/2008 11:46

suiledonn i just googled this for you and on baby centre it says that protein can indictate a urinary tract infection, kidney problem and in later pregnancy coupled with high blood pressure pre-eclampsia. if it was a trace, i would assume your more inclined to have a urine infection which apparently with muscles getting more lax etc, your less likely to feel in the traditional burning sense etc. assume she says its nothing as merely a trace and as you say blood pressure is fine. they check for it as it could be more sinister coupled with other symptoms, of which you have none.

Well done Doctorswife! I have been cleaning today too, already swept/mopped all the downstairs floors, filled and put on the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen including wiping all the cupboard fronts and handles (not kick plates though, afraid if I got down that low, I might not get up, lol!). Then I hoovered all the bedrooms, hall, stairs and landing. Was going to start some washing but it's just started raining. I am NOT cleaning the bathroom. Dh does sod all housework wise, so it is the one thing I try and leave for him. Just decided to sit down and have a cuppa. I really should take a leaf out of your book and arrange my food cupboards, especially as we struggle to cram more stuff in when some of the stuff at the very top & back MUST be out of date by now.

Actually, sitting down was probably a bad idea, I probably won't shift now until I have to get up to make the boys some lunch!

suiledonn · 18/07/2008 11:59

Thanks for that Doctorswife. DD slept badly last night and she is in bad form so no chance to Google. Barely getting time to post here.

I am not feeling great at the moment - had a back tooth out Monday and now I have a horrible head cold so feeling a bit rough. To top it all my sister came to visit yesterday evening. She has 4 children aged 6 and under and they wore me out just being here. I don't know how she copes with the noise levels!

Tinkerisdead · 18/07/2008 12:02

Heartmum i should be doing more stuff, i need bread and milk but ive sat here all this time reading active conversations on mn. I know what you mean about Dh not doing housework. this week ive managed to clean whole house over three days which hasnt been easy. DH came home and i said ive done it all he says anything you need? i say yes you need to hoover the whole house as I cant do it! He looked like i'd punched him and said oh i wasnt expecting that!! How can i hoover when i cant stand you moron!! get to it!!!

men! i still have hoover stairs and mop floors on my to do list though.... notice how the man who hoovered the house, didnt realise you hoover stairs. slumps head on laptop and weeps with frustration. maybe we need a 15 minute flysession heartmum?

Heartmum2Jamie · 18/07/2008 12:15

LOL, you poor love. Why do men seem to think that the stairs just hoover themselves, or the cobwebs in the high corners on the ceilings will just magicically disappear? It's a bit like how dh also thinks his clothes will walk themselves to the washer/basket......Grrrrr!!

I know dh works hard during the week and does his best so I can be a SAHM, but sometimes it is just taking the mickey. Our toilet has been broke for about a month. It works ok, providing that 2 people don't want to use the loo one after another as it takes a good 20/30 minutes for the cistern to re-fill between flushes. I am sure it is something simple to fix, but dh will just carry on leaving it until the toilet no longer works.

Oh, and while I am hubby bashing....(LOL!), I tried calling my dh 3 times throughout the day yesterday. He finally walks in at 5.30pm asking if I wanted him as he only saw I had tried to call at 5pm. Then couldn't understand why I was cross. What if something had been wrong, I went into early labour or something?! He then starts spouting on about how he is in the running for winning a trip to Marrakesh from work, for 2 nights, 3 days. He actually plans to go if he wins and can't understand why I am upset. I would never consider going on a trip without him. Plus the idea of being left on my own with 2 kids and 9 months pregnant (cos I bet the trip is in October/Novermber) or left with 3 kids, one being a very small baby on my own fils me with dread. Hmmmm, now that I think about it, maybe he is more like his mother than he thinks he is, lol!

Tinkerisdead · 18/07/2008 12:23

OMG, thats spooky what you just posted. Look in pregnancy under Would you be annoyed, my DH is going on a trip without me to spain and Im pissed off. i wondered if i was being unreasonable. My Dh also works hard so i can be a SAHM which started when i got preg with this one so i could enjoy pregnancy etc. Then to top it all, my toilet was broken in exactly same way you describe, two weeks ago i got DH to fix it. it was piss easy, he got a valve from B&Q for a tenner and it was fixed in seconds. your post was so much like me it made my haor hand up on my neck.

Heartmum2Jamie · 18/07/2008 12:57

Ohhhh, that is spooky!! I just responded on your other thread. Like I said, I understand how you feel, I feel the same even though I too know it is wrong. At the end of the day, we are only human and filled with raging hormones, lol!

Yorky · 18/07/2008 12:57

Hurray - DH bashing, always a good alternative to cleaning floors! (hoovering done BTW, pats self on head!)
Mine has taken DSs changing bag to work with him today and it has my mobile in it! I don't know anyones numbers and
He was also confused when I was glad he didn't get to go on a course with work, in Cyprus for a week in August. "But you could come with me" he said, conveniently forgetting that at 6months pregnant August mediterranean heat might not be my ideal, not a sunshine addict I'm afraid
Wondering if I have left it to late to clean edges of bath while DS finishes nap
Hasn't rained yet, but daren't say it too loudly!

Heartmum2Jamie · 18/07/2008 13:07

Not you too Yorky!! My dh tried that one yesterday too, said the trip was for him AND his partner/spouse. Hmmm, yeah, ok! How convienient that he FORGOT we have 2 kids and they aren't invited. Men!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 18/07/2008 14:14

The post has just arrived, incredibly late and amongst my post is a letter from the speech & language therapy services saying that they will contact me in the next 13 weeks to arrange an appt to see ds2 and then the appt will probably be several weeks away. Grrrr!!! This baby is due in 15 weeks, but the kicker is that ds2 has had speech therapy before and had they not been in such a hurry to get him off their books, we would not need to be waiting to be seen. Man, the NHS really sucks arse sometimes.

Sorry, just had to get that vent out, even though it isn't really pregnancy related.

Oblomov · 18/07/2008 14:26

Heartmum, why not ring them. You might get a nice receptionist. I took ds to speech, only once req'd. But I phoned to re-arrange appointment and women said " why can't you come ? Well, if your sons health is not a priority to you" - I work 2.5 days and was hoping to re-aarrange for one of 2.5 days off, not unreasonable. I was so mad. Next time I phoned I got lovely woman, who fitted me in, the following week.

Yorky · 18/07/2008 14:37

I'm an auntie!!
Jacob Thomas arrived at 1218, weighing 8lb8oz
They're still trying to get the placenta out of SIL and she is shattered from having stop-start contractions most of the week but apart from that everyone is OK and happy
Another trip up North this weekend!

bubbaz · 18/07/2008 15:21

Congratulations Yorky hope your sis feels better soon!
I too feel like a dometic godess today I have even cleaned the bathroom which I hate and dusted everywhere (haven't hoovered but I don't really care) DH is away too so the likly hood of my house being clean for a few days is vastly increased - How do men make so much mess? DS is the same but I let him off for only being 2!

sparkletoes · 18/07/2008 16:36

Congrats Yorky and family!

Even I have managed some housework today which is usually my aim but usually end up doing it at weekends instead...

Yes Bubbaz why DO they have to make so much mess??! It drives me insane, even when DH opens the mail he leaves a load of rubbish on the hall table and as for all the shoes left so I trip over them grrr!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/07/2008 16:42

congratulations, Yorky, on being an Auntie!

glad your scan was good news, Ceebee.

re the bra thing- I didin't mean to cause such a fuss. I don't think I made any mention of cancer, and nor would I. I don't know of ANY link between the two, I was merely passing on advice I had been given.

off on holiday this weekend. Wellies at the ready!!

misdee · 18/07/2008 16:49

afternoon.

am still not feeling well (horrid cold type bug), and was up in the night with dd2 who has caught it but also has an uset stomach as well.

my house is a pit as nothing much has been done this week due to illnesses. am hoping it get it straight over the weekend, then wednesday i want to move the girls rooms around so they can get settled over the holidays. dont want too many changes at once really.

suiledonn · 18/07/2008 17:47

My sympathies Misdee, I have come down with a horrible cold too. Luckily Dh was finished work early and took dd to my mothers for a few hours so I ordered a takeaway for myself and plan to take it easy.

I ordered 2 maternity tops from Dorothy Perkins and they came today. They are both lovely but the fabric in them is very light. If I had seen them in a shop I'm not sure I would have bought them.

What is everyone planning to do for a jacket or coat for when the weather gets colder? I had dd in May and bought a long cardigan in the Benneton sale that I wore for Feb/March but I loaned it to my sister and it looks worn out now. Has anyone seen anything nice or is it too soon?

Sorry - can't even blame dd for the double post this time.

Oblomov · 18/07/2008 17:53

Do we need to buy a maternity COAT ?
Didn't even know there was such a thing.

misdee · 18/07/2008 17:56

will not be buying a maternity coat. will just be piling on the layers. i will not be pregnant all of winter, just the first couple of months.

Oblomov · 18/07/2008 17:56

What, like this ?coat

suiledonn · 18/07/2008 17:59

Sorry, didn't mean to cause panic. I don't intend to buy an expensive coat but I currently own no warm clothes at all and keep thinking I will need something to keep me warm in October and the first few weeks after baby arrives.

bubbaz · 18/07/2008 18:00

I actually bought a Mat coat yesterday £20 from New look its quite light and was meant to keep the rain off but I will def be making it last until bubs comes along. I wasn't really looking for a mat one in particular there was just nothing else that fit. I got it in a size bigger than i'm supposed to me and can only just do it up now so will prob be wearing it open when Nov comes - and quite honestly I don't care
