Beatie · 07/02/2005 14:21

Wow - where is everyone today?

zubb · 07/02/2005 14:26

Sallie - really sorry to hear about your sister.

I started to tell people at the weekend which makes it more real. Everyone seemed really please, just a bit suprised it's so soon! But I'll have the same gap between 2 and 3 as between 1 and 2 and it works well. I think it's the fact that it will be 3 under 4 that makes people think its quick!
Still getting mild m/s in the evening, and the smell of food is really not good. The rest of the day I'm fine - even managed a burger at the football at the weekend so must have a strong stomach!

Beatie · 07/02/2005 14:46

I am craving Discos. Does anyone know if you can still buy those crisps?

Sallie · 07/02/2005 14:51

Yes it was my sister's first pregnancy so very distressing for them.
I still haven't told anyone else in RL apart from dh and HR at work (as have been feeling so dreadful). Think there will be a great deal of surprise too as will have 3 under 3 and a month!!! Hmmm, I am going to be very very very busy.....

YOKEFLEET · 07/02/2005 16:45

Beatie - I am sure I have seen Discoes recently pretty sure that they had larger then usual packets at a Moto motorway Services. I hope you find some!! All I really fancy right now is Fish fingers yummy!!

Sallie · 07/02/2005 16:49

I have been craving chips but now its just cheese and tomato sandwiches which is what I craved in my other pregnancies. Also had a thing for maltesers and nachos but that hasn't surfaced as yet!!!

franch · 07/02/2005 16:57

Sallie - so sorry to hear about your sister. What a difficult situation. My SIL had a miscarriage not long before I got pg this time (they've been trying for about a year now and are having problems) - she's been wonderful about this pregnancy but it's still really hard to deal with, especially as this is my 2nd in fairly quick succession and both times have been really easy.

Decaf and Beatie, thanks so much for the sympathy, much appreciated Have only vomited once today - Mum's here so I'm getting a bit of a break.

Beatie - so glad to hear the homeopathy seems to be helping. I tried self-medicating with homeopathy last time round, to no avail - should probably have taken myself off to a proper homeopath early on this time, but have left it a bit late I think - like you I'm a bit of a sceptic (having never had any success with homeopathy in the past), plus the fact that I spent a fortune on acupuncture last time, again to no avail - so made the decision early on this time just to sit it out. If the pattern is going to be the same with this pregnancy, I should start getting the odd good day by the end of this week, and the whole thing should be over a couple of weeks after that. I'm kind of counting on it.

Discos! Had forgotten all about them. Have a look here ...

Hello everyone - sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days butwas indulging in first trimester blues and didn't want to spread them about here.

Sallie, I'm really sorry about your sister, very sad.

I've spent a lovely restful day today - have shifted my work days this week so that I am working Tuesday to Thursday whereas DS is in nursery Monday to Thursday. So I have been very restful, had a good sleep this morning and am feeling more cheerful . Although still nauseaus.

I went to the midwife today and discovered I need to book my dating scan rather than be given a date; better get on with that tomorrow. It says it will be between 10 and 13 weeks; hopefully I can have it nearer the start of that period .

Better go and get DS now; he does like nursery but I think it is time to see him again .

PicadillyCircus · 07/02/2005 17:29

Oh and I'll miss pancakes tomorrow as I've got the local NCT's AGM tomorrow evening and will only get back a bit before it starts as I'm in Heathrow tomorrow. Will have to make up for it soon.

VirtualFairy · 07/02/2005 17:42

Hi all, sorry alot of you are feeling so morning sick , i am feeling a bit ms but have found keeping my blood sugar level high works. eating sweets and breakfast bars give me a quick burst of sugar in the morning.
sallie- sorry to hear about your sister
beatie- they sell disco crisps in my local shop i had a mad craving the other day for bananna and salt and vinegar disco crisps sandwiches lol
i have started craving ice lollys today, this was my craving throughout my first and second pregancies.
i am very sensitive to smells at the moment too, my dh had garlic and beer and i was so sick by his breath i could not sleep with him! i have given up smoking as well so maybe thats why my nose is so sensitive lol

DecafArabica · 07/02/2005 17:57

Sorry to hear your bad news, Sallie.

I'm getting really worried about my own state of health in that am still coughing my guts up and the new antibiotics don't seem to be doing any good. Worried baby is getting oxygen-deprived as I am so wheezy. Have started oral steroids today to try and cure my breathing problems but if they don't work I may have to go to hospital for treatment[scared sh*tless emoticon]

DecafArabica · 07/02/2005 17:58

BTW Franch I can recommend a lovely homeopath who's worked wonders for DS and is about to start helping me out too (have appt next week)

franch · 07/02/2005 18:00

Oh Decaf, that sounds awful Really hope you don't have to go into hosp. Thanks for the homeopath tip - I'll definitely need to try something if this doesn't end when I expect it to - if that happens I'll CAT you if that's OK

Hello everyone.

Sorry you've had sad news sallie .

You know, we should have put the dates for our first scans on the stats. Then we'd know when to be sending each other big positive thoughts. Mine's not until the 10 March, when I'll be thirteen weeks. I'm worried I'm going to look obviously pregnant by then and people at work will catch on. What do you think?

Been feeling sick today. Can't face buying food. Poor dh better get used to fish finger sandwiches.

franch · 07/02/2005 19:29

Good idea about the stats thread maretta. Mine is 18 Feb - not long now.

Latest thing is, DD is teething Up for an hour with her last night - she's screaming again as I type - trying to give her a chance to settle before I go in again - have already been in with Nurofen, Teetha, Bonjela and cuddles, but she started up again once I was outside the door. She was a terrible sleeper till about Christmas - I've been thanking my lucky stars we sorted it out before the m/s started - now this. Not sure how I'm supposed to manage both ....

Sorry, another moan from chez franch!

We told the kids at the end of last week, after the scan was ok. They are v excited!! Asked them to try (!) to keep it quiet until next scan. Ds1 (8) has managed well, but Ds2 (5) wouldn't look me in the face when he came out of school today. He then said 'I've only told ... and reeled off about 6 names. Needless to say his teacher was one, so it'll be all over the school by now. I supply teach there, so not looking forward to looks in the staffroom on Friday!! In some ways I prefer it just slipping out, I feel awkward about the whole telling people face to face somehow.
As expected 40th bday party on Sat not good. Felt dreadful - sore back after trip to osteopath, tired, sick.. the lot. Lots of polite conversation with people I hardly know. Needless to say, home by 11pm!

maretta · 07/02/2005 19:39

Poor you Franch. DS has been slepping badly for about the last month or so and it's so exhausting.

LadyLazarus · 08/02/2005 09:22

I'm still here... back to work now (after 4 weeks' glorious annual leave!). Fell asleep on the tube on the way home from work yesterday, and then lay on the sofa all night! Am scheduled to work 60 hours this week, which I am thinking I may end up ringing in sick for some of them (esp. as the end of the week is night shifts aargh !).

The return to work went better than I thought to be honest - I think if I keep busy, I don't feel the m/s quite so bad. Just felt totally shattered tho! My tummy is noticeably (well, to me!) bigger, although not sure if it's fat or bloat!

Can anyone recommend any good bras? I am almost bulging out of mine and am not sure where to go to get fitted / buy a new one.

Hope everyone is feeling ok...

franch · 08/02/2005 11:40

Hi LadyL, good to see you back

How's everyone's skin and hair? I'm a complete greaseball - spots like a teenager and lank hair to match. Hopefully like last time it'll improve in the 'glowing' 2nd trimester, though it did get bad again just after DD was born.

OP posts:
franch · 08/02/2005 11:42

Oh, and I'm sure my breasts are shrinking - I think it's the weightloss from the m/s - I never lose weight from the places I want to! So far pregnancy is not doing anything for my allure - and of course as soon as it does, I'll have a great big bump to distract from it! Hey ho!

OP posts:
Sallie · 08/02/2005 12:00

LadyL - lucky you having 4 weeks of annual leave and such a good time to take leave - this is such a grim time of year. I am quickly realising that this time of year is not good timing for the first trimester. I went through the early weeks with dd during May-July/August and I really think that the light mornings and evenings helped alleviate the tiredness etc.
Also suffering from really bad spots. Last two times I am sure I got really nice glossy hair and perfect skin but maybe I am not recalling the early weeks......

franch · 08/02/2005 12:03

maretta, I'm sipping hot water with a thick slice of lemon in it at the moment - thanks for the tip, it's great

OP posts:
pooka · 08/02/2005 12:43

So sorry to hear about your sister, Sallie.
It's these kinds of terrible things that make me hate the first trimester.
Was mildly spotty and greasy a few weeks ago, but have cleared up. Also no longer sick really at all, unless very tired or hungry. Not sure whether a good sign...
DD also decided last night to have a terrible time of it. Not sure why - was there a full moon?
Looking forward to pancakes tonight, have stocked up on maple syrup, golden syrup, lemons, bananas etc and am going to go pancake crazy. And then go to bed after watching Brat Camp, if I can remember.
To all those still suffering with m/s, hope you feel better soon (((hugs)))

franch · 08/02/2005 12:50

Thanks for the hugs pooka, always gratefully received
