Congratulations and welcome SandyR. There seems to be a variety of ages and experience over here in this Spetember thread so you should find yourself at home here.

andif · 15/02/2005 16:51

Welcome SandyR - I am also 37 but this is no.3 after a big gap, so it feels quite new again!

I'm feeling quite left out with all this scan talk - apparently Kingston is so busy that I will be lucky to get a week's notice, but should be around 5 mar. Seems ages. Friend who is also 37 and pg said be prepared for odds of Downs to be scarey this time - as mine have both been approx 1:5000 before, I'm getting worried already. Handy hint that others may know -ask at nuchal scan if baby has nasal bone - if it hasn't it's not nec. a worry (some races develop later), but if it does, is good indicator of no downs. This may help if odds seem high!

Keep having bursts of energy, followed by nauseous exhaustion!

Planning trip to Top Shop maternity as soon as scan over as nothing fits (undone jeans nearly fell down in rush to school last week - not a pretty sight!!)

pooka · 15/02/2005 16:59

Hi Sandyr - congratulations and welcome.
A friend had her first (dd) at 41 and is now expecting her second (at 43).
I won't be finding out the sex - loved the thrill of finding out when dd was born that she was a girl.

pooka · 15/02/2005 17:53

Oh and I saw your post on the pregnancy thread - I was clueless when I was first pregnant last time. I also had no morning sickness last time, so was not convinced I was pregnant until I had my scan!
I really think you should have some form of "being in the system" before 12 weeks, to get your copy of Emma's Diary (what a fantastic read, not), to book your first scan (either the nuchal scan or a dating scan, depending upon the local services etc.). Good luck and hope you keep on posting.

Kiwicath · 15/02/2005 18:04

SandyR - WELL DONE YOU!!! Blimey, you must be over the moon and still a little shell shocked after waiting so long. No way is 37 "old" for having a babe infact you're probably too young to be allowed in the "Old Duffer" club which is in full swing on this very thread. OK, in the gender stakes, I will definitely find out the sex. I'm such a party poopa and like to have things as organised as possible plus I need to know whether or not to sell all ds's babe clothes or ship them over to NZ with us. Feeling slightly queasy at odd times in the day which is reasurring but can't stop "the bad thoughts" popping into my head at all hours of the day and night.

Kiwicath · 15/02/2005 18:17

Sandy, here is a good website I've just found that explains the various tests and scans.

franch · 15/02/2005 18:32

Hi SandyR - congratulations and welcome Make sure you add your details to the stats thread.

Have had such a good day today! Have eaten: cereal; big plate of mushrooms on toast (bit random, never eat that); 2 bars Fry's Peppermint Cream ; chicken wings & fries; banoffee pie!!!!! And it's only 6.30! How's that for progress! Even made it all the way down the high street with DH & DD (hence the chicken wings & banoffee).

I know I'll have all-day puking again tomorrow and be horribly depressed, but am trying to enjoy the relative normality while I can ......

Hiya all
Thought I'd introduce myself.
We've found out we are expecting No2 around the 19th september, and am about 9weeks gone. I am feeling really bad with all the morning sickness, i hardly suffered with it with my ds!!
Still, we're both really excited, and cant wait.

franch · 15/02/2005 18:35

the exhaustion is getting hard finding it hard to function at work feel like dori from nemo as short term memory shot!!

DecafArabica · 15/02/2005 20:20

I'm afraid I won't be posting on here any more. Have had very bad news today. I was admitted to hospital for the bronchitis, which turned into an asthma attack, and told the nurses I was worried about the effect it was having on the baby. So they arranged a scan and sadly there was no heartbeat. Am devastated but a part of me was expecting it as I had just been so ill and breathless for so long. I wish you all the very very best with your pregnancies and maybe you'll see me on another 'expecting' thread in future.

diane77 · 15/02/2005 20:22

im so sorry decaf and wish you all the luck in the future xx

yingers74 · 15/02/2005 20:31
