Not wanting to bring down the happier tone of this thread......but I feel awful .

Haven't really kept anything down since some time yesterday; particularly horrible moment was at 3am this morning when anything that might have still been inside me came out. At least I had a bowl by the side of the bed.

DH is being lovely and has been completely looking after DS today. I just feel so rotten. Can't remember how bad I was with DS (DH says it was bad ) and I know I'm only 8 weeks so have more yuck to come.

Have at least made it downstairs and DH and DS have gone off shopping.

Not sure I will make it into work tomorrow and feel bad about it.

Beatie · 13/02/2005 15:06

PC - I'm so sorry you are feeling rotten. I'm just coming out the other side of feeling my worst ever. I am 10 and a half weeks. For me it started at 5 and seemed to peak between 7 and 10.

I am now eating normally again. I hope it gets better for you soon. There's nothing I can suggest or say to make it get better. Don't go to work tomorrow and try and get lots of rest. I did find the sickness worse when I was tired.

DecafArabica · 13/02/2005 16:19

Poor you PC. Hope you feel better soon.

franch · 13/02/2005 16:35

milward - congratulations and welcome I've updated the stats list with your details but do add your hosp and scan date if you know these.

Hurrah for pooka, LadyL & Beatie - proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

And hugs to PC. You have all my sympathy. Beatie's right, get lots of rest and don't feel guilty about it.

Decaf - yes, I'll get to work on the minty chocolate book! Just bought myself some of that minty crunch Dairy Milk ... Hadn't thought of what to do with DD when we go for our scan on Friday - but she's only 12.5 months so I guess it'll be fine to take her. I can understand your concern about taking your ds.

Well, I'm having a better day today but, as before, I'm not counting on it lasting (I get very depressed when I get my hopes up and then the symptoms return with a vengeance). The nausea's still definitely there, but I do feel vaguely human and haven't been sick today. Even popped out to the shops while DH took DD out - the furthest I've gone in weeks! Felt a bit weird - and very weak - but the 'fresh' (London) air definitely did me good. DH is off work this week so I'll try to get out as much as possible.

Send me some of those good no-sick vibes!

pooka · 13/02/2005 18:15

Sending you many many no sick vibes. I'm so glad you're feeling better Franch. Fingers crossed that it lasts, but as i think Beatie said, there'll be bad days and good days and eventually the good days outweigh the bad days.
Your scan date has come around so quickly. Mine's a week on Monday. Can't wait but am terrified at the same time.
I'm feeling nervously better - one minute back to normal, then I forget that certain foods make me feel peculiar. i.e. all real meat, like lumps of chicken, beef etc. Very peculiar as I'm quite the carnivore usually.
PC - i'm so sorry you're feeling rotten. Take it easy and definitely don't go into work if you feel rough. And get as much help as possible with DS.

Boompi · 13/02/2005 19:11

The ratio of good days to bad days is definately getting better. So there is light! Still have little dips at midday, 430pm and about 3am. Could almost set a watch by them but much better than the constant nausea!

I have been thinking about pets(must be broody!) - has anyone else got a puppy at same time as baby? Am I mad?

Welcome to new ladies!

milward · 13/02/2005 20:03

Hello All,
Hope the m/s is getting better for all. I've only felt slightly sick a few times - generally just feel hungry. Last night had loads of cheese & daddies sauce sarnies. Thinking of this now makes me think yuk!! Already 8 kilos heavier - don't know why exactly as I do eat more but not that much!!! Have ordered some maternity clothes as clothes now don't really fit comfortably. Best wishes xxx

pooka · 13/02/2005 20:32

Hi Milward, can't remember if I said congratulations or not, so will say it again.
Hmmm Boompi - I'm not sure about a puppy TBH. We had a cat when dd was born and I went completely off him - was almost as if I was hallucinating whenever I looked at him - all I could see was teeth and dirt and I was so protective of dd that I was completely paranoid. It took about 3 -6 months to settle down.
I have a friend who ended up giving her much loved dog to her PIL as she couldn't cope with the dog walking with tiny baby as was so exhausted. But then again, I have another friend with 2 very bouncy dalmations who have 2 walks a day, and she's been fine. Her dh does a quick walk with them in the morning and then she does a 1 - 2 hour walk in the evening.
We got 2 more cats/kittens at the end of October, and they're still really indoors cats as they can't work out the cat flap so dh has had to deal with litter trays. TBH if I'd really thought about it rather than gone on gut instinct, I wouldn't have got them, although they are lovely and really good fun. We're moving in about a month to a new house and I'm hoping that they'll start being more outdoorsy then.
What a long and boring post. Sorry

LadyLazarus · 13/02/2005 21:49

PC - don't feel guilty if you have to take time off work. I have had the past few days off and feel better for it. There's no point torturing yourself just to show your face at work! Take it easy

andif · 14/02/2005 11:35

Ha ha Boompi - yes we have a puppy! I had romantic notion of walking dog through Richmond park, pushing three wheeler, with 2 little boys tearing along behind/ in front!
Got dog in Oct, so hopefully it will be perfectly trained (!) by time baby arrives. Thought if I was going to be tied to house by baby, might as well be tied by dog as well! Have moments thinking we were/ are totally mad, but it's a good excuse for lots of exercise!!

Sallie · 14/02/2005 12:52

Hello everyone! Just had a hectic weekend and wasn't at work on Friday - took domestic day to get carpets cleaned - how boring.....
Still feeling washed out, headachey, emotional and nauseous. Only food I really fancy is cheese and tomato sarnies which I am having for lunch at work every day! Feeling very hungry all the time but when I actually get to eat I can't face whats in front of me or I feel suddenly full.
Nuchal scan on 28 Feb so two weeks today! Getting very nervous about it, especially given what my sister has just gone through. Am hoping dh might be able to give me a sneaky scan this weekend to have a look at our little bean.
Hope everyone else is ok and just about coping with m/s and the other horrid first trimester symptoms. Not long to go now until we supposedly enter the 'blooming' second trimester!!!

marinda · 14/02/2005 21:38

Been to Doc's and she confirmed date as 3rd october - looks like my guesstimate was incorrect. Will continue to post however as got used to you guys and DS was 10 days early. Not much to report only feeling sooo sick and soooo tired. Looks like I have to book nuchal scan privately as not offered by NHS in my area. Has anyone else found this ?

Beatie · 15/02/2005 09:05

Nuchal scan is not offered on NHS in my area. I thought about having it done privately but have decided against it.

pooka · 15/02/2005 09:28

We get it free here - done at Kings at the Harris Birthright Centre (Kypros Nickolaides's research place). Hadn't realised how lucky we are until heard that some areas don't get it. Seems wrong really that there is such a variation in the types of services offered in different parts of the country. Would have thought that for things like ante-natal care it would be possible to have a national basic service.
Scan on Monday 21st. Getting very nervous....

franch · 15/02/2005 12:28

marinda, do update yourself on the stats thread, won't you? I may end up with a late Aug date when I get my scan (this Fri ) but, like you, will stay here as you never know what'll happen

As predicted, had a truly awful day yesterday after my good day on Sun, but am feeling slightly better again today so things seem to be following the same pattern as last time, which gives me hope .....

Beatie · 15/02/2005 12:37

Fingers crossed for you Franch.

I still don't fell completely out the woods but that's good. I feel symptomatic enough to still feel very pregnant but not so ill that I cannot eat or function - unlike the past few weeks.

All that intense nausea and sickness seems to have turned into intense tiredness and exhaustion. I am feeling more tired this week than any other week.

LadyLazarus · 15/02/2005 13:56

All this talk of people having various scans... I haven't even heard back from my midwives yet! I handed in my booking letter last week, but haven't heard anything back as yet. So I haven't "booked in" at the hospital yet...As I know my dates and everything, I am doubtful I'll get an early scan... but I sooo want a scan !

nably · 15/02/2005 14:10

Hi Lady Lazarus, I phoned the midwife number and booked a scan in with them at the hospital...I didnt want to wait either but was told there were a lot of 'xmas babies' due in September and I was wise to get a date. The first date they offered was 25/2 but I put on my pleading voice and they gave me 18/2 but that was a few weeks ago. I will be 10 weeks on Friday and that is the earliest they will scan you in my area if you dont have any pain...as its a dating scan.

If you phone them directly, they may be more forthcoming than waiting for them to contact you - its worth a try I reckon.

LadyLazarus · 15/02/2005 14:21

I'm 10 weeks this week too... I think I'll leave it til about Friday, and if they haven;t rang me by then, I'll give them a ring... thanks

Sallie · 15/02/2005 14:33

Out of interest, who is intending to find out the sex of their little bean? This is no 3 for me and found out for ds and dd so will do this time. Dh is a radiologist anyway and if he comes to the scan, he is likely to have a good guess. Don't want him knowing and me not if you know what I mean! With dd the sonographer told me at the 12 week scan that we were having a girl.....which was confirmed by the 20 week scan. Getting excited now but also very nervous. Want the next few weeks to pass quickly and uneventfully for us all!

nably · 15/02/2005 14:42

We have decided to find out the sex if possible. My dh has two sons (12 & 13) and they keep going on about wanting a boy so I dont want them so show disappointment if its not when its born. I know they would love it whatever but being anti girls at the moment, it may prepare them more!! In a silly way, im thinking that the baby might not want us to know so may keep his/her bits hidden during the scan...I will let nature tell us if it wants us to know. (the things I think of!)

SandyR · 15/02/2005 15:27

I've just discovered Mumsnet today and just worked out on the due date thingy that I'm due 21 September. This is our first baby - we've been trying for over 5 years and had all but given up hope. Can someone tell me what a nuchal scan is as it seems you have to have one early. Please bear with me, I know nothing about pregnancy or having babies ! I'm 37, is it dangerous to have a first baby at my age? I'm very excited but also really scared. Sorry to babble on but we are waiting b4 telling anyone and its so nice to find people I can talk to about it !

Twiglett · 15/02/2005 15:57

yay .. just snuck in to see if you'd found your thread Sandy

(no its not dangerous to have your first baby at 37 )

am butting out now
