ChocOrange, I live in Chertsey. I work in Leatherhead. Ds is at a nursery on my work site. WAS always very convienient.
So no one else goes there. Dh phoned 3 firms, two cherstey and 1 leatherhead and they all quoted similar price.
All nurseries in Chertsey close for the summer. Ds starts school in Sept and knows no one so I was hoping that that might be an idea, but my friend says they all break up for 6-8 weeks, breaking soon.
I go to Kings because of my diabetic pump.
I knew going to Kings every 2 weeks for my pregnancy would be hard. But f**k me, I didn't expect this shenanigans.
Oh maybe you all think I am over -reacting to it all and just need to calm down.
WE have all been talking Gaviscon. Anyone got any CALMING PILLS ?

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 14:36

ChocOrange, I rang your firm. £40.

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 14:40

Thanks for the pictures.
Made me feel better.
Where is that Brian, now its her photos I am really looking forward to

Dozymare · 10/07/2008 14:40

Hi All - chocorange love the links you have been posting today!!!!

Obs you are having at time of it aren't you??? What day do you need to go to the hospital??? If it is in the school hols I could drive down with my 2 and look after your DS if that would help????????? Or you could drop him off at our house????

I think keeping him in nursery is a good idea - I have always done that as oyu get some time to yourself but also keeps them in a bit of a routine and gets them used to being apart. Plus gives you some time with new LO.

just a thought, are you eligible for any grants from your local council seeing as you HAVE to go to Kings due to your medical condition, perhaps they can help with transport costs???? as a taxpayer I am sure there must be something in place for circumstances such as this.......

As for LO still going to nursery - do any of his nursery friends live nearby - I am sure if they do and if you explained your situation to the mother she would be more than happy to help out.....

Sorry if this has all be suggested already, I am only skim reading at the moment!!!!!

ChocOrange05 · 10/07/2008 14:43

Obs don't worry we don't think your overreacting, this is a hard enough time without all the adding stress you seem to have. But try not to let it get you down, I'm a big believer in the power of positive thinking so hold on to the good stuff and remember the outcome of all your trekking back and forth!

Unfortunately I don't know what else to suggest but know we are all here for you if we can help or just if you need to vent!

BTW - go to chemist and buy yourself some rescue remedy (I assume you can take it as its homeopathic) its good for calming!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 14:46

Oblomov if he starts school in september, I think that you may have to sit tight.

Most groups finish this week for us, too.

TRy to get out of the house as much as possible, and chat to any mums you see in the park- you'll be suprised how keen people are to chat- we are all in the same boat.

Don't be afraid of asking them round/out for coffee etc. Many of the mumjs round here tend to meet up on particular days for picnics in the summer, as there are no groups.

You have to kind of treat it as though your matenity leave has started now, so adopt the strategies you apply with a new baby.

It is early days for the both (three of you) to adjust to the new situation- you could also look on it as an opportunity to meet some of the mums and children who will be at DS's school.

You may also find a decent local childminder who can take DS?

Sorry to sound like a lecture- I just really know how it feels- I was soo ill and very ow when pg with DD.

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 14:53

Thank you , thank you.
Sorry for taking up so much space. Oblomov and her woes strike again.
Please lets talk fun and frolics.

Who has bought nice things ?

lackaDAISYcal · 10/07/2008 14:59

Pinky....don't forget the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (my lot ) and the Breastfeeding Network if you are in Scotland. As far as I'm aware they all have BFCs and good helplines.

All the numbers are on hunkermunker's blog....a good one to save in your favourites.

there are lots of peer supporter groups springing up locally as well.....your MWs should know what's on in your individual areas.

Re pumps...I've used the Avent hand pump before and also Mothercare's own one plus a couple of others. The Avent one is the best for hand expressing but if the reservoir fills quickly, you have to break suction to get it to drain into the bottle. They do one now that can be either electric or hand which looks good. The mothercare one is very tricky to clean. One thing ot watch out for is the size of the trumpet bit. I was getting recurrent blocked ducts using the Avent one when i was expressing daily. i stopped expressing and the ducts cleared. I think medela do different sized trumpets for different sized boobs.

Obs...sorry you are feeling crap, lovely; I can understand your frustration and wish I had some words of advice for you about the travel thing. the DH thing...well boys will be boys. My DH doesn't handle my moods well at all and just doesn;t get that one day i'm ok about something but the next day it;s causing me worry and anxiety again. they just don't experience hormones like we do and are a bit clueless. Mine also used to go on about not knowing what to say or being able to say anything. I screamed at him that I just needed to know that he was there and for him to give me a cuddle. since then things are a lot smoother. Just remember they are simple creatures and need a bit of guidance about womenly ways .

right school run time...will check in later as DS has banned me from MN between 3 and bedtime

chocolategal · 10/07/2008 15:03

obs i love this site for the support you all give me as a first timer and i hope it supports everyone else too so feel free to take as much space as you like!!

BUT talking of nice things.......my DH and i are going to look at the Boori sleigh cots next weekend, i really love the look of them, i know they are very expensive but it will hopefully last for years.....

ChocOrange05 · 10/07/2008 15:04

Obs check out Mamas and Papas - that always helps me when I'm feeling low!

Now in our nursery we have my new nursing chair (second hand bargain at £150 worth £350!), the daybed we got for guests (LO can come with us when we have visitors) and a cute baby hanging rack with a very very cute teeny tiny babygrow on it that says "Welcome to the World" It actually helps remind me that there is a whole baby coming into the world!

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 15:08

Pinky, ( good post Daisy) yes a local bf support group - there are lots.
Plus MN - Hunker and Tiktok are the ladies you need.
Most people probably don't need a pump to be honest. MerryM and I had excess milk, but many people neve ever consider even using one.
Chocolategal, give us a link, what does it look like - god I love sleigh beds, never seen a sleigh COT.

Obs - I am just checking at work about getting reimbursement for travel costs seeing as you have to go so far to hospital for something which is out of your control. Leave it with me and I'll let you know what I find.
