LOL DrsWife - at least that's one way of getting rid of those people who want you to sign up for things! Maybe I could use that when I go to Victoria Station and get accosted by the charity workers on the pavement..... Oh, I did think of you the other week as I was watching the Motorbikes at Donnington on TV and saw your namesake!!!! He's quite cute really

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 12:50

Welcome back Brian.

vbab78 · 10/07/2008 13:16

Oblomov - sorry to hear about you and DH. Me and DH have gone through the same just seeming to get on with daily life as a team but no "person" interaction. Also DH saying I am overeacting but to be honest if anything I think I don't let bad stuff he says or do slide for as long as normal.

Fingers crossed though since our night away in York we seem a lot calmer and better. Still had cross words as that is how we get on but don't seem to escalate.

bubbaz · 10/07/2008 13:18

Congrats on your boy Twinkle and welcome back Drs wife, glad you had a nice hol.
Not sure about the cot and clothes thing, I was adamant not to have the pram in the house with DS but his nursery was finished with his cot made up and the lot well before he was born

vbab78 · 10/07/2008 13:19

TheDoctorsWife46 - LOL at the lady chasing you across the zoo then you scaring her off.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 13:36

Hi Brian, lol I might try that line to get rid of sales peopLE

BTW my pornstar name is equalllly glam- Sid Swinburn. Not very sexy.

Oblomov I think your DH may be getting the point- no it is verry dificult to say the right thing. MY DH has started getting it, and now just offers hugs rather than epithets and things are running much smoother now! I do hope you can make friends tonight when he gets home. Being pregnant is very difficult- poeple just see the exciting bit of a bumpgetting bigger and baby things, they don't understan the emotional turmoil it creates.

great news on your scan, Twinkle!

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 13:43

Thanks Vbab. And all you guys who posted nice things the other day to me :
Pinkali, Daisy, Hana,ChocOrange,Cricri.
I am feeling fine most of the time, I just had a couple of big sobs.
And I do think I am quite hormonal, so I think dh has a point

No driving. Constant rain. Feeling trapped.
No work, so given notice on ds's nursery. He wants to go - keeps crying. He has been playing up aswell. Badly. I have to go to Kings on tuesday. And on 29July, where I will have another scan , at 23 weeks for this synechia thing cutting the sac in half. Thats why I can't feel any kicks.
Thought i might put ds in nursery for those 2 tuesdays so I could get to kings. But taxi firm said £35 each WAY, to get him there. God it only takes me 20 minutes to drive the 10 miles to work.
So now will have to take ds with me to kings.
My local job still haven't paid me for the work I have done in the last 6 weeks.
It all got a bit too much and I started to sob.
But yesterday I went swimming with ds and my friend and her ds. And generally I am fine.
It just seems that dh thinks I am unbearable
I am trying to buy a medela mini on ebay and a sling, but no success yet.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 13:54

oblomov
can you let your LO go to nursery a few days a week, maybe? It would give youboth a break. I'm sorry you are having things so tough. It is hard to get used to being at home all the time, quite lonely at first, but it will get better.

I get a bit frustrated sometimes- even a simple thing of getting my haircut is a logistical nightmare with my two at home full time.

The blardy weather really doesn't help. WE got out this morning- it felt like we'd been in hibernation.

ChocOrange05 · 10/07/2008 13:54

DrsWife I would like to get a birthing pool but I have no idea where I am going to fit it - all of the rooms in our house are quite small so I think I might have to have a birthing pool room and a relaxing room!

Why not ask your DH to buy some plastic lining for the floor - sorry, I mean TELL him to!! Then its in his hands!

I don't suppose you can envisage the actual birth if its the first time of doing it, or at least thats what I think as I don't know what to expect (first time too). But don't let that worry you or get you down. I think, to feel confident its important to write a birth plan about what you want and what is most important to you but also be prepared to go with the flow. As long as you, your DH and your midwife know what you want then I think it will be the birth you want.

Autumn yeah, the £65 is the actual stokke one but thats big price difference, was just wondering if I have to spend that much or if I can get the cheaper one??

Hana I just sent my DH a list of things from Crave Maternity that I want for my birthday next week! If anyone is buying anything from there then send me an e-mail or let me know as I have a 15% discount code.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 13:56

soorry I must read posts more carefully. Is there anyone you are friendly with who could take DS to nursery for you, say two days a week?

vbab78 · 10/07/2008 14:00

oblomov - can DS still go to nursery even if just for a morning a week?

I plan to when I go on maternity leave (34wks) to drop DS nursery from full days Mon-Wed to Mon&Wed AM for as long as we can afford it. Just so less cost and more time with me (& baby when arrives) but also the independance and time away from family he has got through nursery since 9mths.

Hopefully we will be able to afford it until he is 3 (June09) when we will then get a discount from funding. Just see how it goes.

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 14:06

Dh asked my neighbour to take us three 3 times, in the next month, just for my Kings days.
We have already paid for July, I gave notice on Jul 1st.
But even my neighbour quoted £40 return. Dh said that was too much. £120 does seem like alot.
I have no friends that I could ask so much of.
I feel so powerless.

dyerlou · 10/07/2008 14:06

Hi all congrats twinkle another Boy! are there any Girls due in november or are they all boys?Have been shopping for a breast pump but came back without one! too many to choose from this wole breast feeding thing is scaring the hell out of me! can any one recomend a good book or place to get information about it?

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 14:06

vbab- i think the added cost of the taxi is the sticking point. I hope you can find a way around it, oblomov

I was going to send DS to nursery school for mornings, but I think I'm going to try him 3 full days- monday-wednesday as I think it will be easier to manage. He doesn't start til the end of September, and I need himsettled in time for the baby.

Oblomov · 10/07/2008 14:08

The bus takes 2 hours with 2 changes.
The train takes nearly 3 hours. I did it 2 weeks ago. - Chertsey to weybridge, weybridge to surbiton, surbiton to Wimbledon, Wimbeldon to Leatherhead.
I just can't do it.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 14:12

Oh gawd Oblomov is there no-one else near you with children at the same nursery? I guess it's because of the fuel prices, but you neighbour doesn't sound too generous.

Is there a playgroup nearer to you you could leave DS at for a couple of mornings? There has to be a way around it. I think you are going to need some respite.

I have not yet learnt to drive, so I suppose I don't miss it in the same way, plus we live quite centrally really, so there are lots of buses.

ChocOrange05 · 10/07/2008 14:16

Obs Just read your profile and the nice thing you said about your DH!

This weather doesn't help with moods but maybe try to keep your spirits up. How about this for making you smile - it certainly did me! Or alternatively a cute/scary one!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 14:19

Dyerlou- you don't neccessarily need a breast pump. It's not an essential bit of kit.

There is lots of suuport from la leche and NCT regarding breastfeeding. nct ARE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE BREASTFEEDING COUNSELLORS. sorry about caps, didn't mean to shouut!

Don't be scared! It is great, just a lot to do with feeling connfident about it, and determined- I was really lacking confidence with my first, but I realised I was very determined.

There is often a breastfeeding workshop group at the maternity hospital- have a look through the mountain of leaflets you'll have been given when you were booked in, or just ring the active birth classes line, they usually have the info.

ChocOrange05 · 10/07/2008 14:20

Obs £35 from chertsey to leatherhead!?!? Thats crazy! Try 01372 725000 they are an Epsom firm who I have used and find quite reasonable.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 10/07/2008 14:20

choco DS just asked if we could get that outfit for the baby!

ChocOrange05 · 10/07/2008 14:24

Obs Is your DH going with you to Kings?? What about asking a friend to go with you and that way they can drive you and DS and look after him while you are being scanned?? I would offer as I live nearby (and love LO's) but I am working. Are you sure there are no friends who can take you - I know you think its a lot to ask but I reckon a good friend might enjoy sharing the experience with you?

PS - sorry if you already answered this/ or you don't want to, but why are you going to Kings if you live in Chertsey??

dyerlou · 10/07/2008 14:25

thank you pinky have just bought a book from amazon called the NCT brestfeeding for beginers. so hopefully that helps me feel more in controll!
