OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Surprisingly enough the hospital were running late so we were sat in the waiting room for ages but the woman who did the scan was lovely. I am having a BABY! DH told her we didn't want to know so she told us to look away at one point so we didn't get waved at if there was anything to wave, and we didn't see anything by accident although I had a good look! Arms, legs, head and heart all present and correct, average sized, bit pot bellied and slightly short legs! She said the heart is about the size of a thumb nail, and there it was beating away furiously! The picture she gave us wasn't as good as last time though

PInkyminkyohnooo · 09/07/2008 19:14

great news on the scans everybody! yay twinkling for your little boy

Glad the heart scan was clear, pinks Yorky DS scan photos were not good at 20 weeks- he was far too wriggly!

Sorry people are feeling poo. I've been a bit up and down too, it's no fun .

thanks for the description of gaviscon, Lacks it makes me hurl at the best of times- I never go near gaviscon when pg, or the other, for that matter!

I'll email you now. I'm going to put some more info up on the site, and have a look at setting up the shopping cart. Gawd I'm a bit rusty on all this!! Got distracted last night, making monkies!
Got a letter from my old consultant at clinic today, just said DS was OT- no supirse there with a back to back and my waters breaking early and failed to dilate- no mention of incoordiante uterine contractions- so still a bit coinfusing, but if that is all he has to report that is good news for my VBA2C. I'm going to try to forget about it now until my 32 week appointment with current consultant.

Bettispaghetti · 09/07/2008 19:23

For those with heartburn - have you tried Fox's dark I think they are. They are like Fox's glacier mints but in a black bag. They are aniseed/licorice and i find they calm down the burning. Also a bit nicer than gaviscon.
Just a tip

toolly · 09/07/2008 19:32

Hello everyone,
My back has been killing me for the last two days. Unfortunately it has coincided with DD having a cold and needing lots of extra hugs, cuddles and carries. I think I shall dig out my swiss ball and have a bounce tonight. I never suffered from back pain until PFB was eight weeks old. I was bent over in agony, tears in my eyes wondering how I was going to pick him up, feed him etc. Luckily DH insisted I go see a chiropracter straight away. From being bent double she had me walking upright and the searing pain was gone in one session. Turns out I had strained my pelvis. After 5-7 sessions and a lot of ice packs I had recovered. Chiros are brilliant at relieving pain. Osteopaths probably better for more chronic conditions.
I'm off for a bounce!

LolaBella · 09/07/2008 19:38

Lovely news on more successful scans today. November is going to be over run with boys if we carry on at this rate

Sorry to hear some people are suffering

Nursery arrived yesterday and dp put it together last night. A little premature i know but i couldn't resist

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 20:02

lovely news about all the scans

an interesting one on the bad luck with prams etc. I think it stems from days of old when infant mortaility was high

what about if you already have a pram for an older sibling anyway?

I'm not one for superstitions in general....except for putting a new pair of shoes on a table. I'm strangely anal about that, but I don't even know why it's bad luck.

I am now officially an organiser for Usbourne books...trying to navigate the organiser's website is so bloody hard....there are links...you just have to find them first; they are embedded in pages on pages on pages and my head hurts. Doesn;t help that I have a sleep defecit of about 12 hourse since Saturday!

ceebee74 · 09/07/2008 20:17

Evening all

Twinkling/Merry/Yorky - congratulations on the scans - great that everything is good! Is there just me left now??

Have just realised there are 5 of us (me, Sparkle, Vbab, Bubbaz and Mum2Becks) on this thread with 1 child already who was born June/July 2006 - spooky or just seen as the 'ideal' age gap??

Picked up my new car tonight - tis fab!! Have almost got over the loss of my beloved Ka already and I have only had this one for 3 hours

We are definitely going with a double buggy - DS definitely prefers his pram and we can't trust him to walk anywhere without reins and there is no way I can push a pram and hold his reins!!

Right need to go and put DS to bed - we went out for tea tonight so he is having a 'late' night.

x

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 20:34

what car did you get again ceebee?

are we all watching the programme about free birthing on C5 at 9 tonight....could be interesting!

I listed my big pram on ebay last night....goes live tomorrow so fingers crossed it sells quickly.

tonight is nappy listing on usednappies.

ceebee74 · 09/07/2008 20:37

Daisy - good luck with the pram selling. Re the bad luck, we kept DS's pram in the garage once we had bought it (not sure if that is the same thing ) although MIL nearly had a breakdown when she found out!! DS is, of course, fine!

I got a Mazda2 - it looks lovely

Yorky · 09/07/2008 20:41

ceebee it must be frustrating to be last, I know my wait felt ages
Glad you like your new wheels
Ob I hope you had a better day today
lacka Usborne books are dangerous, DS loves the 'That's not my...' ones

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 21:05

We have "that's not my teddy"...DD cuddles it and gives the teddies kisses...bless

I want to order the whole range of them they are sooooo cute. monster and puppy next I think!

The website is tedious though, or maybe it's just because my sleep deficit is making me less bright then normal

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 21:07

Can a boy wear a Totsbots lilac spot wrap?...am in two minds whether to sell mine or not, after all it's not like it'll ever see the light of day...unless DS2 is ever caught wearing a skirt

toolly · 09/07/2008 21:49

I'm watching outlaw births on channel 5. Cleo was calm wasn't she?

twinklingfairy · 09/07/2008 21:55

I know what you mean about the wrap never being seen lacksa, I have been through my bags of baby clothes last night to take out anything that is no use for a boy and give it to my brother, who is expecting a girl and is visiting at the mo, all I have been left with is babygros and vests.
BUT the vests mainly have 'little princess' or hearts and crowns and things on them, all in pink. But I am figuring who will ever see them?
But then again, I do feel a little bad about putting him in girls stuff from so early, silly isn't it?

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 22:19

that was fab tooly wasn't it. I would love to have a birth as calm and stress free as that. I like the idea of just letting your body do it's own thing, not pushing and panting that we are trained to do to in hospitals to speed the process up.

she had a really dinky little bump as well ....mine is bigger than that now, never mind how big it'll be at full term

twinkling, you can always get a few white vests for when you take him to clinic

toolly · 09/07/2008 22:30

Though the births were good, Cleo's in particular you still feel they got away with it. Especially the american who had no antenatal care whatsoever. They obviously had disappoining previous births which is sad, but I think their reaction to completely eschew medical advice was foolish. Birth is one day of your life (maybe two) If something goes wrong, you will be living with that decsion for every day of your life.
Rant over
Very impressed by whatever hypno power of the mind thing Cleo had going on.
Hope to emulate her birth in a pool but with a midwife in attendence in November.

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 22:35

the english lady, claire is apparently a doula, but they never mentioned that at all.

the young american girl got away with it considering the retained placenta. What did they do for her in the end? I had to go and settle a grizzly baby so missed that bit!

toolly · 09/07/2008 22:44

Apparantly it came out of its own acCORD, (boom boom)
No it just came out. Doc could have just given her an injection of syno but how much would he have charged? Now I know why midwives are so keen for you to have it. Speeds up the process dramatically (also stops bleeding too,) He was a complete arse, he should be happy his face is blurred, he's a disgrace treating a woman so paternalistically.
Sheila Kitzenger's book Birth your way, gave a tip on how to dislodge a placenta that was taking it's time coming out. She advocated blowing down the neck of a bottle.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 09/07/2008 22:49

I am obviously going to have to find that programme on the watch again.

re gendered underwear- I really recommend my underwear/wraps/sleepwear are for anybody policy. That way you can spend more money on cute outfits!

You can tell I was pregnant by the time DS was 8-9 months because his underwear and sleepysuits went very unisex.

DD looked very cute in her blue bears nightgown and pink hat!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 23:03

C5 have an iplayer thingy on their website I believe pinky.

DD is having another unsettled night. She has been whimpering and crying on and off all evening. Looks like I'm in for another long one.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 09/07/2008 23:17

thanks Lacks. I think it may be on my V-box (cable)

Sorry your DD is poorly. Mine was afwul today, but did a heinous poo before teatime and felt much better (TMI) I think she had been eating the playdoh again

hope you get some sleep.

Yorky · 10/07/2008 06:52

Sorry I missed the birthing programme, sounds interesting. I was planning an early night but by the time DS was settled and DH had got me to plan help organise silly olympics for holiday club it was definitely bedtime!
Tooly are you planning a home waterbirth or just hoping the hospital pool will be free when you need it?
Hope everyone had restful nights, touch wood, DS seems to have got over his latest teeth and apart from filling his nappy at 530 and not settling back down the last 2 mornings he has been sleeping nicely

Dozymare · 10/07/2008 07:18

Morning all - not posted for a couple of days as felt really low - was very strange indeed but kids were playing up, my PSD is back with a vengance and i don't think all this rain has helped! Feel much better today though but being my 3rd PG can totally see how hormones dominate our moods and general wellbeing. Anyone else up and down like a fiddlers elbow at the moment???

With DC1 and DC2 didn't see it for what it is which is why i think this time i have snapped out of it quite quickly!!

MY DC2 is going to be 2 in 2 weeks as well!!!!!! So that makes 6 of us with the same age gap! I am definately getting a double buggy though as last time tried to manage with a buggy board but it didn't work for us. We walk almost everywhere and it was a) taking far to long and b) knackering poor DS1 out!!!! Got a 2nd hand MB on ebay for £120 including postage so very very happy about that! Will have to retire my MB breeze until dc2 walks everywhere and DC3 is in a single alone!!

Speaking of keeping buggies out of the house - I have had it delivered to my parents as also supersticious! Silly really but did the same for DC1 and 2 so sticking to what I know so as not to tempt fate!!!

Good news on scans ladies - once we have had them all we should do a tally of girls vs boys!!!

Have a great day everyone!

DM xxx

Dozymare · 10/07/2008 07:21

Sorry forgot to add - Book Swop Club it's time for a change this weekend!!!! Does everyone know what they are doing????

PPS - Birthing balls are great!!! When my PSD came back it came straight out and I sit on it most evenings............REALLY helps as does sleeping with a v pillow between my knees!

vbab78 · 10/07/2008 07:28

MerryMarigold - so sorry about your nasty sonographer. You should complain especially as he made it painful.

Yorky - Glad to hear to are having a baby and all is fine. I'm having a baby too .

I'm 23 weeks and sure my baby is going to appear early. Baby doesn't move or kick often but he/she does it is so strong and can be felt easily. I'm convinced my dates must be wrong.
