ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 13:16

Yorky · 09/07/2008 13:34

bubbaz · 09/07/2008 13:53

Pinkali37 · 09/07/2008 13:53

Twinkling, congratulations!! What a way to get her to tell you the sex, it was ingenius!

Yorky, do i take it you are going for a scan?? If not, enjoy what ever it is you are lying flat on your back for!!

thomasina1 · 09/07/2008 13:56

Congrats twinkly!

You can buy Gaviscon tablets in the chemist ro supermarket, may save a trip to the doctor... although then you'd have to pay!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 14:00

oooh, wonder if you can get them on the minor ailments scheme?

I have to phone back to the doctors tomorrow as the duty doctor stops being dutiful at 11 , but in the meantime I found some tablets from last time in my bedside drawer...result

Congratulations twinkling . Did they say what the mass was the last time? and this is probably a dumb question but they weren't looking at your bicornate (sp?/correct terminology?) bit were they?

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 14:26

I am suffering from back pains these days and have to have a pillow behind my back at all times when sitting at my desk or on my sofa. Also I usually sit very upright without leaning back but now I find I have to lean back to get some pain relief.

Anyone else experiencing back pain?? I have private healthcare through work so I was thinking of going to the doctors and getting a referral - but who to? Physio, Chiropractor... any advice ladies?

Thanks!

cricri · 09/07/2008 14:50

Congrats Twinkling, another little boy
ChocOrange I think you posted about back pain last week and I meant to reply then, but forgot I'm suffering exactly the same pain as you, mid to upper back. I also have a pillow behind my back on my chair and keep having to lean back or slouch just to ease it. I find walking around every so often and stretching helps and I also got out my Swiss ball at the weekend and find that lying over that on my back and moving around really helps. I realise you can't do that if you're in an office though... I was going to mention it to the MW at my appt next week. I'm sure your doctor will be able to advise if a referral is necessary - a physio will probably be able to help.

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 15:05

Cricri I have never thought about getting a swiss ball - what else do you use it for?

Pinkali37 · 09/07/2008 15:07

I have back ache too. Mine gets worse throughout the day. Mine is mid way and lower back. I find it difficult to stand up once sitting down on an evening.

Re private healthcare, it may be that a physio could give you some exercises or just advice. Although saying that so should the MW.

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 15:21

Pinkali just saw your facebook profile and now I get your MN name!! Your holiday pics are great, except for no 17!

OK just ordered a birthing ball and hopefully it will help! Thanks for the advice ladies!

cricri · 09/07/2008 16:33

Just catching up with the messages - I used to use my Swiss ball for ab exercises before becoming pg and I plan to use it as a birthing ball too. You can sit on it instead of a chair, but I think I read/heard that it's not recommended that you sit on it all the time - I can't remember what the maximum period of time was. I could be wrong.

bubbaz · 09/07/2008 16:40

The birthing balls are also supposed to get the baby into the correct position for birth near the end. I bought one when I had DS and didn't use it but I might have to hunt it out this time round.
I've had a busy afternoon today both my crib and double buggy have been delivered. The buggy is great its in excellent condition - bargain all I need now is the baby!!! (Not yet though obviously I'm happy to wait a bit longer for that!!).
Does anyone know if its bad luck to keep your new buggy at home for a second child? I didn't have my pram at home before DS was born and now i'm panicking that I have this one here???

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 16:46

bubbaz - what double buggy did you get and where from?

My mum said it is bad luck so took the buggy off me to her's! I think she is just spoiling my fun of playing with it and imagining. Don't think having a buggy in the house is medically proven to cause problems so dont worry!

Pinkali37 · 09/07/2008 16:50

Hi All, Back from scan and Tarquin survived the holiday !!! YIPPEE>... s/he was so active and waved at us. He even opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out which was apparently him/her drinking. SO CUTE... and everything is fine with the little heart. Am so relieved,i'm going to start buying!

Thank you Chocorange...

bubbaz · 09/07/2008 16:56

Congrats Pinkali glad it all went well for you - You can relax now
Vbab I got a Maclaren twin techno off ebay for £100 its only 10 months old and it is in really good condition I really chuffed with it, It actually seems lighter then my single M&P zoom and is def lighter then the pramette!
HAs anyone had any experience with buggy boards - I was thinking og getting one for the shorter trips out.
DH did ask what I was planning to do with DS's buggys as we need them!!! you are prob right its someones mother making it up so you can't play with your new toy

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 16:57

pinkali - really happy for you.

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 17:00

bubbaz - i liked the look of the maclaren but when I tried DS in it (turned 2 in June) he was squashed. Decided just to wait until baby here and get a tandem buggy (more seat room I think) if really find it necessary. DS loves walking it's just whether it will be practical to allow him to walk.

No experience of buggy boards but I was told I couldn't fit one to the petite star zia I got for baby.

bubbaz · 09/07/2008 17:04

Vbab I know exactly what you mean my DS (2 in June also) is a little squashed but he doesn't seem to mind too much and I'm hoping I won't have to use it too much. He loves walking too but it takes me 4 times as long to get anywhere when he does .

MerryMarigold · 09/07/2008 18:09

Twinkling - congrats on your boy and on BEING RIGHT , very satisfying.

Pinkali, great you had a good look at baby and saw some cool stuff. I have 2 anterior placentas, not sure what it means. Most movement takes place on my right side or in the middle of belly, placentas on left.

Choc - definitely try and see physio. There are exercise and sooner you start them the better. She may also give you a support belt (I am hoping to get one soon too, though my back is fine, it is the bottom of my belly which hurts and the top).

I had 20wk scan today. Sonographer was a man and was a miserable grump, and very very rough with me. It was extremely painful actually, so bad I forgot to ask for a photo . He did 2 babies faster than the nice lady took on my 20wk scan with ds. He managed not to smile even ONCE!!! (neither did his assistant...guess they were having a really bad day or something, or maybe they missed lunch - my appointment was at 2pm!). When I asked him if they were growing ok, he grunted "fine". He managed to check the sex of one of the babies (the boy), but couldn't see the girls bits, so that's yet to be confirmed for me. (Still stocking up on girly stuff though!).

Good news is babies are fine and are both average or above average on all their measurements which is pretty cool when they are sharing space and food. No wonder I'm massive-o. They are both lying transverse/ breech at the moment. At least I get another scan in 4 weeks time to make up for it, but I think it's with him again.

Hope everyone has a nice evening. I am having chicken wings. They are so cheap and LOVE them marinaded and roasted. Hmmmm..interesting - NOT.

mum2becks · 09/07/2008 18:11

Congratulations on all the scan news, still looks like there are going to be a lot more boys in November!!

vbab and bubbaz my dd also turned 2 in june and know what you mean about they like to walk everywhere but it takes forever to get anywhere!!! I have bought a 2nd hand phil & teds from e-bay for that reason as it can be used as a single pram for the baby but converts to a double for the times that dd needs to be in it too!!

Sorry that there are a lot of colds out there at the minute hope you all start to feel better soon!!

MerryMarigold · 09/07/2008 18:13

yorky - how did it go? did you find out?

ceebee - not long to go now!

MerryMarigold · 09/07/2008 18:19

who's dh said noah is too 'out there'? it's in the times top 50 boys names for 2007, so not that weird! (can't remember exact ranking). I like it.
