OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
vbab78 · 09/07/2008 09:36

Morning ladies. Sat at work feeling a little rough thanks to DS giving me and his dad his cold. Me and DH both have horrible coughs. I always suffer bad with coughs but I can't take anything for it!

On a nice note me and DH used the baby heart monitor last night and heard baby's heart for ages and was really strong and fast. Also for the 1st time in ages DH got to feel baby kick when he gave me a cuddle in the middle of the night. Normally baby torments DH and stops when he puts his hand on the bump.

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 09:40

oblomov - hugs - hope you feel better soon. Don't worry you will feel baby soon and probably wish they would calm it down. Especially when you are trying to sleep.

Yorky · 09/07/2008 09:56

Looking out the window, baby is now called Noah!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 09:56

{{{{{hugs}}}}} Oblomov. blardy hormones, eh? I'm sure everything is OK lovely. when is your next AN appointment.

Feeling bleargh this morning as well...DD was up half the night; no temp or anything, just wanting to be cuddled. And I was on here till ridiculously late so have only had about 4 hours sleep.

Dd being a real grump and we need to go back to bed, but I managed to foget DS's lunchbox this morning so have to go back to school before 11:30. Am having a cup of tea and steeling myself for the walk.

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 10:40

Oblomov how far along are you?? I didn't feel anything until in my 21st week and even then I didn't believe it until I'd felt it for a couple of days in a row - now at 23 weeks I am feeling it every day. Hope you feel better soon!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 10:44

same here obs...after an intitial few flutters, nada for ages. Only feeling things daily in the last couple of weeks and am now ...23 weeks. I only felt a kick externally for the first time last night, and everything I do feel is over to the right hand side as I think the placenta is cushioning things elsewhere.

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 10:55

Obs just to add I have only felt it from the inside so far (although DH did manage a little feel but nothing strong yet)

Pinkali37 · 09/07/2008 11:18

Me too... haven't felt anything. Obs do you have an anterior placenta like me??? If you look at my scan photo you can see the placenta at the top and going down the right hand side. I'm 22 weeks on Friday so am very much eager to feel Tarquin. Off for futher scan this afternoon so will ask MW again.

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 11:38

Yorky - raining is it? Noah is one of the many names I have liked and DH doesn't! Too out thee apparently!

Really getting fed up with DH and deciding on a couple of names for each flavour. I think it should be a happy and exciting thing to do but DH just acts like not bothered and seems to dislike every name I LOVE!

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 11:43

thee !! there I meant. DUH

cricri · 09/07/2008 11:45

vbab I've got a cold too, it's horrible isn't it I did get some cough mixture from Boots yesterday to help with cough and sore throat. It's the only one us pg ladies can take - Glycerin honey and lemon linctus. Tastes absolutely foul but seems to be helping! I'm also taking paracetamol. Hope you feel better soon.
Pinkyminky Love the blankets! I may also place an order once we know the flavour
Oblomov Sorry to hear you're feeling down -hope you feel better very soon.
Pinkali Good luck for your scan You too Merry Daisy Thanks for that list of names, it's very interesting - there are some very unusual ones on there though
Hello to everybody else!

I have a cold too. Got it 4 days before leaving Majorca and it doesn't seem to want to disappear. Bloody air conditioning!! My desk is currently covered in tissues.

Pinkali37 · 09/07/2008 11:52

Hana - Ooh didn't even think about that... back to back (acutally don't think I will ask any questions it sounds terrible). I just can't wait to feel tarquin move, at least then you know everything is ok, without all this waiting and thinking "was that it?"...

cricri · 09/07/2008 12:05

There are obviously lots of colds going around!
Pinkali Hope you feel movement soon - it's a lovely sensation. Although once you've started feeling it you then start worrying when you don't feel it... Baby was very quiet this am but seems to have woken up now so that's reassuring I keep telling myself that it's down to position etc. and the MW did tell me that movements aren't regular until 25 weeks anyway. We're such worriers aren't we

Pinkali37 · 09/07/2008 12:08

We certainly are!! I have a leaflet from the MW and it says that they don't consider movement to be regular or lack of anything to worry about until 28 weeks. BLIMEY...

I think my problem is that nothing through this pregnancy seems to have been normal. i.e. first of all no symptoms, then only 2 weeks of nausea and boobs hurting, then blood test results showed lowering levels, then have had to 4 early scans, then no bump, and now an anterior placenta thus no movement.. it's just one thing after another and I am sure that when I have a 2nd it will be sooooo stereotypical it will be stupid.

vbab78 · 09/07/2008 12:16

I had Back to back with DS. It was painful but isnt labour anyway! Also I have no previous experience to compare it with.

You can have back to back birth naturally. just that with DS he needed help with ventouse and forceps in the end because he was a little stuck. Not surprised at 9lb 4.

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 12:16

and OMG.....I had to resort to the Gaviscon last night as the heartburn was making my body ache all the way to my teeth and ears. It is fucking vile (pardon the french, but truly, it was awful). I've always had tablets before, but the doc prescribed me the liquid this time .

Firstly it is aniseed flavoured and secondly the consistency....OMFG the consistency....I was nearly sick and had to wash it down with water as my gag reflex kicked in big style and I just couldn't swallow. It sort of glooped out onto the spoon looking very suspicious.

There was a thread on here when I was pg with DD referring to minty sperm.....I can see exactly what they were talking about now

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 12:21

oh, and my DF had a back to back labour...successfully at home. It was just a bit longer than usual and more painful than with her DS, but not too bad really. She did it with only gas and air, and she even stopped that as it was making her feel sick.

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 12:29

Daisy I know what you mean about Gaviscon - why oh why does it taste of Aniseed, I mean, who even likes Aniseed?? I tend to just swig it from the bottle to save having to look at it!

I am never going to be able to drink it again without thinking of your last comment [sick face indeed]!!

ChocOrange05 · 09/07/2008 12:31

Daisy forgot to mention - chewing gum helps with heartburn - for me anywas, I have yucky acidy lump in the back of my throat

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 12:38

dogs apparently go mad for the smell of aniseed; it's what they use as scent on mock hunts....nice

I can't take any more of it it's so awful. I'm waiting on a call back from the doctor to save me going in for an appointment.

twinklingfairy · 09/07/2008 12:55

Just popping my head round the door to say that I have updated the predictions thread, we are having a BOY!

The scan went really well on Monday and we have been told that they can see no problems with baby and that we will now be left alone to enjoy the pregnancy.
We will go back for sizing scans though (scoff) at 28 and 32 weeks.
So we will see, after that, I might get to have my natural birth after all.

The strange lump also seems to have disappeared, the consultant said nothing about it as she did her big scan I forgot to ask at the end, I was so happy that baby is ok and that we found out we are having a boy.

I know, I said I would not find out and that I think it is kinda cheating, but we had the big detailed scan and we knew that she knew and that she could tell us (they are not allowed to say in our local hospital).........I didn't ask to know the sex though, I ask for her to confirm that we were having a boy cos DH and I were convinced. Is that better?? Prob not
