Morning all,
DM Glad you're feeling better today. Not long to go now until the holidays
I looked into flying a few weeks ago and there were various threads on the subject on MN. I believe BA will let you fly until 34 weeks but other airlines have an earlier cut-off point. There seemed to be some debate on the threads about whether a note from Dr or MW was required - some ladies were asked to produce one and others weren't. You'll also need to check until when your travel insurance covers you - mine covers me up to 8 weeks before my EDD, so I'd only be able to fly until 32 weeks in fact. My insurance is with the Post Office - others again have earlier cut-off dates. HTH
Louise and Misdee Great news about the scans Is anybody having one today? I can't keep up
Yorky Thanks again for the hypnotherapy files - I listened to the relaxation one last night and it was very soothing.
Hope everybody else is OK.

bubbaz · 08/07/2008 07:54

Congratulations Louise SJ. Glad you are feeling better today Dozy. Pinky your blankts sound lovely - Do you have a site?
Hop everyone is OK today. Do we have many more scans? I know Ceebees is this week and I think there was someone else too?
Sorry I just can't keep up!!

LolaBella · 08/07/2008 08:14

Hi Dozy i am flying at 30 weeks and come home just after 31. I have checked with my airlines and you can fly until 34 weeks with them (EasyJet and Thompson) but some have a cut off point of earlier. After 28 weeks you need a doctors or midwife's note to cetify that you are safe to fly. Finally, read the small print when you book insurance as only some will insure you to 32 weeks of your
EDD. Good luck, i can't wait for my hols

LolaBella · 08/07/2008 08:16

Sorry forgot to say a huge congrats to Misdee on your little pink one and Louisesj on your little blue one

Pinkali37 · 08/07/2008 09:28

Morning All,

Blimey this thread moves quickly, luckily for me there is one common theme and its BABIES.... Yippee we're having babies...

Re Slings - erm, not sure don't think I will probably get one but who knows. Although, if someone can receommend and easy one to start off on I may get one to see what happens.

Congrats to all that have had scans and found out the flavour.... how exciting.

Am i the only person that has not bought anything yet???? Keep wanting to but then something in my head says "No".... think I may have a look at the weekend.

MerryMarigold · 08/07/2008 10:13

Dozy, when I boarded the plane in France the (slightly power mad) flight attendant asked me how many weeks I was! I thought: bit late now, what are you going to do? Chuck me off the plane? It's a 1 hr flight for goodness sake. Anyway, when I said 21weeks she nearly fainted! I had my hospital notes in hand luggage but she didn't ask to see them. I think how late they let you go totally depends on the airline and also the duration of the flight is very important. How is your back/ pelvis? I remember you saying you were wearing a support.

Is it just me? I am DREADING the hols? What are we going to do all day everyday?!!! No playschool, no toddler group...it will up to me to think of entertainment especially if it keeps raining like this and ds can't just potter in the garden. I am genuinely worried! Anyone got any ideas for a very active 2and half year old and a very, heavy pregnant Mummy?

slings - an keen to get a good one this time, mostly to use in the house eg. if baby crying and still need to cook or keep up with ds too. I had a Wilkinet last time and found it terrible trouble, couldn't get it onby myself, used it very rarely. Luckily it was 2nd hand from NCT sale. Misdee, the one you are liking sounds good...still don't know how you manage at a slingmeet if you don't already have a baby? Can you borrow? Obv. carrying the baby in it makes a huge difference.

babyseats, I found the Bumbo perfect until about 8 months when he could get out of it. Had to LOL at the table thing as I did that too! Definitely get a bouncy chair. Ds liked being able to look around from quite a young age.

pinkali - your bump looks lovely, you are so slim around it as well ! It's so cool you and your sister having babies 'together'. Am envious a bit...sister and I tried to plan that, we got there a bit earlier than expected!

I had a bad day yesterday...drove to my parents to see my sister who I haven't seen since xmas (she lives in Middle East). Cery excited to see her. Got stuck BADLY on M25, trip took 4 HOURS, (yes FOUR) instead of 1. The bulk of that was just 2 junctions. Ds was really not happy, I was desperate for the loo, car was overheating, I was sobbing. In the end, I had to wee on the hard shoulder (behind a tree!). After the wee it was better and I just 'gave up' and resigned myself to going in first gear for hours and hours and we stopped at a service station for a bit so ds could have a break (and I could have another wee!).

Choc, I have worried about babies kicking too much! That the sac may break!!! How sad are? Worrying if they do and worrying if they don't.

Yorky, you and me tomorrow. Yay! I am still worried, but also excited - and my sister is coming with me. She has never been to a scan.

vbab78 · 08/07/2008 10:14

pinkali - I've only bought baby's buggy on impulse and that was it. Not even thought about everything else but I guess when i go on leave when I'm only 34weeks I can sort it all.

------
Thank you ladies for all your well wishes for my and DH anniversary in York. Was a lovely night and a little of Monday away. Luckily for me my mum filled in for me when DS decided to be a little poorly/trying it on at nursery on Monday so I didn't have to rush back from York straight away.

Really sorry but cannot keep up with your posts from the last 2 days so I hope everyone is well and not missed anything big.

MerryMarigold · 08/07/2008 10:19

I quite liked Sunday Rose, until the Sunday Roast comment!! But I think Sunday is quite a nice name...dh would hate it though.

Dozymare · 08/07/2008 10:26

merry have you looked into summer school or camps of some sort??? the nursery my DS used to go to runs a summer school everyday (same ratio as carers to kids as normal nursery) for 3 hours a day for 3.50 an hour! I have got both boys going for 1 session a week and then eldest is going to tennis camp at the local tennis club, again 3 hour session for £10...he is at nursery full time so 2 sessions a week will be fine and get him ready for school in sept......i am sure if you look into it you will find similar things........

Dozymare · 08/07/2008 10:26

vbab glkad you had a good time! what buggy did you buy??

ChocOrange05 · 08/07/2008 10:30

Hi all

I am in Germany with work and happy to see I can still access MN! Got up at 4am for a flight today so I am feeling very knackered.

Merry sorry about your bad day yesterday but hopefully today will be better! Good luck for your scan. I wonder if they will change the number of babies again?

Dozy no one on my flight said anything to me today about the bump so I guess it depends how big you will look. I think if you go with an ok to fly doctors note and make sure you have insurance cover then you should be fine (you will be within 32/34 weeks right?)

Yorky thanks for the Natal Hypnotherapy downloads, I have put them on my computer and they seem to work although not had a chance to listen to them all the way through yet. Thanks again for that - DH loved the cheapness of it

Have a good day all and good luck to anyone else having scans!

AutumnLady · 08/07/2008 10:46

Ooooh, Pinky those blankets sound gorgeous! Do you have a link to your website?? I love blankets and think they also make great gifts!

Congrats to Louise on your scan result and good luck for any scans happening today.

xx

Re flying... on my flight out to Majorca we got to the plane adn realised we had the extra leg room seats (DH V HAPPY) near the emergency exits. When we eventually sat down, one of the hostess' came up to us and asked if anyone was pregnant (ER>>>> YES) so we had to be moved because a pregnant person is not allowed to sit there.. WHY??? Becuase i may go into labour when there is an emergency and forget to open the door for everyone? STUPID.. anyway on way home we had the same seats so i held DH's jumper and mine all the way onto the plane and then sat down trying desperately to pull my top over bump and put my arm across it (although my arm was somewhat suspiciously raised by rather large bump but no one questioned it).

Pinkali37 · 08/07/2008 12:08

On a totally random note, i've just booked a piano lesson for tonight. YIPPEE... Thought i'd do something new. I play violin, sing and play some piano but I am going to start lessons again. YIPPEE>...

ChocOrange05 · 08/07/2008 12:41

Pinkali you could ask to learn Mozart as apparently its good for bump brain development!

vbab78 · 08/07/2008 12:54

dozymare - I got the petite star zia buggy after lots of good reviews from you ladies and reviews on mumsnet and kiddicare. I love it . Like the Quinny but better (apparently), it reclines and folds small. It only cost me £100 new. Lots of colours avail but I got black then going to get colour cosytoe for whatever flavour I get.

I bought this buggy with baby in mind but would be suitable for DS who is 2. I then realised what do I do if DS gets tired or wants to run in the opposite direction? Once baby is here going to see how it goes and maybe if really, really necessary buy a cheap tandem buggy like the mothercare one on offer at the mo for when got both kids and 1 pair of hands. Just reluctant to buy a tandem as them and twin buggies (twin found seat tiny for DS) fold down BIG. Also the extra cost.

Pinkali37 · 08/07/2008 14:03

I liked the Zia too but we still like the quinny as like the big wheels (i live in the country and need nice big wheels to get over all the hills [grins]) also I wanted a pram with one long handle as easier to move with just one hand.

I feel like i need to buy something.. oh I have, haave made first purchase a book to read to bump from Amazon...

ChocOrange05 · 08/07/2008 14:07

Pinkali DH and I have 3 books now which he reads to bump every few nights. Its a really nice way for him to interact with bump, and the last couple of times he read to it there was lots of kicking! I also fell asleep to The Cat in the Hat reading last night

Oh - perhaps we should start a book club for bump reading books!

Pinkali - get yourself on the Mamas and Papas sale site - I couldn't resist a little babygrow that said "welcome to the world" on it!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 08/07/2008 14:19

Hi all

Pinky, I love the garden one! It's soooo pretty without being too 'pinkyminky'!!! (Trying to avoid pink, am sure will be given plenty).

MerryMarigold · 08/07/2008 15:46

thanks for advice, dozy. i had a quick google and couldn't find anything in newham for ds age group, but will have to look a bit harder. oli's playschool does not run anything in holidays, would have to use a 'new nursery'. i will enquire as to costs and whether they accept just in holidays. newham is notoriously over subscribed for EVERYTHING though they do have a lot of free activities during term time which are very good. even the pamphlets of activities are not produced over the holidays. arghhhh.
